This place is a Gold Mine!! Packed at 11AM! Had to wait for a table. Excellent service by Laura! Delicious Bacon Santorini Omlette. Delicious chicken salad sandwich! FREE coffee !! Will be back soon! We finally found a old fashioned diner, reminiscent of Staten Island & Brooklyn! AAAAA*****!!!!!

This is a typical diner that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day with a Greek twist. The menu is pretty complete with soup, salad, sandwiches, and a big variety of breakfast food. I dined here for lunch and it was not too crowded so I could choose between a booth or table. The restaurant itself was overall clean but could use to repaint and redo the carpet because it looked very dated. Our server was half deaf and in my opinion too old to be a server and messed up the order because of his hearing deficit and then argued with me that I ordered different than what he thought. The Greek Gyro wrap with salad on the side is different than the Greek Salad with Gyro meat. Basically he took my food back into the kitchen and took it out of the wrap and served it back to me. Thankfully I wasn't charged for the salad because the salad is much larger. Portion size was good for the price. My husband ordered the Tuna Melt with Swiss and it was served at room temperature with cheese that wasn't melted. He said that the tuna was plentiful and very fresh. Our server gave us attitude again when asked for beverage refills. I would come back because the food was very good but I would request to not have Jorgo as my server.

Four of us came here for dinner and this place was hopping even though it was after 7pm. We were seated promptly but server took a little time to greet us...nothing extremely long though. The three others ordered the 1/2 chicken dinner and all got different sides. Hubby said the French fries were blazing hot (temperature) and mother-in-law presumably liked the mashed potatoes as she ate those first. I tried a bite of chicken and it was one of the best grilled chicken I have ever had at restaurant. I ordered grilled fish with green beans and rice pilaf. I thought I ordered grouper but maybe it was tilapia. Doesn't matter - I like both. My meal was served about a minute after the chicken entrees and it was piping hot! Green beans were probably from frozen but didn't care as they were not crisp. Pilaf as was good. Surprise at end and desert was included with meal - I got baklava, which was great!

It was founded by owner Christos "Chris" Charoudis, the restaurant's menu is largely inspired by traditional family recipes. Chris's mother, Eleni, personally quality-controlled the dishes to ensure authenticity. This is the original restaurant, at the corner of Lantana Rd. & Jog, a second is on Congress, They have expanded & during covid outdoor dining in the parking lot was created. There is a free parking in front along with a steady stream of pick up traffic. The menu offers extensive Greek dishes with servers being very quick & efficient. Portions at Chris' Taverna are enormous. One plate is enough for more than enough for 2 of us to share. The restaurant is casual, reservations are not accepted, it's first come & first serve. Tonight six of us met here for dinner. We arrived before 6:00 and waited only a few minutes for a table. When we left there was a line outside. When we were seated we were given water & a garlic spread with warm fresh pita. We all shared babaganosh & generous delicious dips. My husband & I shared a gyro salad with lots of grilled lamb, more than enough for us both. Others enjoyed greek chicken salad, shrimp with pasta, and spanakopita. Everyone brought leftovers home, enough for a few meals. Happily we weren't rushed.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying without feeling too heavy. First of all, the portions were HUGE. There was so much food. It was perfect to order a couple dishes to share between us. But the real star of the show was the tzatziki. Phenomenal. I genuinely wanted to eat it with a spoon. Creamy, garlicky, perfectly balanced 10/10. The salad was just what I wanted after sitting in the sun all morning. Crisp, refreshing , and not an afterthought like it can be at some places. Every bite felt fresh and well-seasoned. To be honest, I did use the tzatziki and salad dressing instead of the provided salad dressing. And the gyro wrap with garlic fries? Easily one of the best gyros I've had in a while. The meat was flavorful and tender, the wrap was perfectly put together, and those garlic fries were the ideal salty, crispy side. This spot is definitely getting added to the pool day lunch rotation.

But I may have wanted to keep the secret a while longer, you can't blame me! The plaza where it's located has plenty of parking, and I love that you get to seat outside if the Florida heat isn't too crazy for you. I typically like to seat at the bar, but rest assured there are plenty of tables inside as well so you can truly choose. This location has started to get busier and busier and there's a valid reason for it! But I've yet to see it fully packed, so you probably don't need a reservation. In terms of the food, there's not an item I wouldn't recommend... but I do highly suggest you try their burger dish! as well as the octopus, and of course, the lemon potatoes! I'm not even a fan of potatoes, but I love them here! This last visit, I was served by Sofia who was super kind and patient while my family finally made up their minds. We had an array of dishes, and as always, the portions were generous, and every dish we ordered was delicious!

Main courses were the specials: Patagonian Toithfish "Plaki" and Laxanodolmades cabbage wrapped rice Kadden meatballs near with avgolemono (egg lemon sauce, the same used in the famous Greek soup). This was my first visit and my first time trying them, and I was impressed by how many options they offer. The customization is extensive without feeling overwhelming, and everything looked fresh and well maintained. I went with the falafel bowl, built over rice and lettuce, and one standout detail was that they offered three different rice options. I chose the lentil rice, which had excellent flavor and added a nice depth to the bowl. All of the toppings, condiments, and add-ons tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The falafel itself was satisfying, and the overall meal felt balanced--filling without being heavy. It gave that ideal healthy, energized feeling rather than leaving me sluggish afterward. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was very clean, which always matters in a fast-casual setting, and the service stood out. The staff was welcoming, and the manager came by our table several times to check in and make sure everything was going well, which added a personal touch that you don't always get in this style of restaurant. Overall, a very solid first experience. Fresh food, strong service, clean environment, and plenty of options. I'd definitely return and would recommend checking it out if you're in the mood for Mediterranean done in a casual, customizable format.

There are several different types of proteins, and as a pesco-vegetarian, I was pleased to see tofu as an option. There's falafel too! (The tofu was well seasoned and not bland little cubes of food.) You can do a bed of greens, pita, hummus, or rice as your base. I went with the rice which was deliciously seasoned, though (spoiler alert!) next time I might go with hummus. There are many fresh herbs options for toppings, including spices and sauces. All the vegetables were crispy, and the portions were generous. The price point is fair and what you would expect to see at similar restaurants. I wish Olive U were closer to my home, because it's a great fresh option if you're looking for a quick take-home meal as well. I did see that they offer family-style dinners where you get a large portion and everybody eats the same thing. I think that is a great idea and not something I've seen at the other bowl - style restaurants. As I've already spoiled above (hee her , I definitely plan a return visit one day. Or they could just build locations in Broward! Hint hint.

And brought guests constantly . The food was always well prepared and at a reasonable price. The owner was always very friendly. BUT I will never again go back to Sofra after my experience last night. Last night I went with a couple of people that I had raved about this restaurant to. The owner, who certainly must've recognized me from the countless times I've eaten there in five years, barely grunted at me and the vibes I got from him were not very welcoming. He seemed really angry about something and was taking it out on his customers. There was only one other table that had customers and this was a Friday night. I found that really odd because other restaurants surrounding Sofra had lots of people sitting outside eating at their restaurants I ordered a falafel plate and others at our table ordered the İskender and another entrée. I practically passed out when I got the bill because I guess I didn't check the prices when I was ordering. The falafel plate, which was basically a spoonful of salad, a spoonful of rice, a few hard burned falafel, soup and a dribbling of tahini was $33. This is obscene. When this restaurant first opened they were charging for the same plate $15 and then they went to $25 after a few years which I thought was pretty high for the food we were getting but $33 is just plain greedy. I won't even do a review on the other two entrées because my party could barely eat them. I now see why there was nobody, literally nobody in this restaurant on a Friday night. And the owner, what happened to him? he used to be such a friendly guy and now he is just an angry man. The waitress never went back to check on us and refill our water after taking our order. Despite only two tables with customers in this restaurant. I read some of the reviews where owner says he hates the fucking country so why doesn't he just leave? There's plenty of really good Mediterranean restaurants that are not going to charge this kind of money for Mediterranean food. Even if the felafel was the best falafel I've ever eaten in my entire life - $33 is crazy. And it was not very good felafel - in fact all the food is mediocre. Where it once was amazing. So my suggestion to the owner is to lower his prices, improve the quality of his food and improve his attitude
