Then the manager comes around checking how things are going (which in and of itself is a rare thing to see nowadays) and when we mention it's our first time he tells us about his favorite items on the menu, he even let us try a bit of their homemade baklava which I can honestly say puts every other baklava I've ever had to shame! My first course choice was Mediterranean Salad This was not the ubiquitous Horiataki Salad you're probably thinking of. You know, the one with the tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, olives and feta. No, no, no... this was a fresh and tasty mix of white beans, lentils, arugula, ripe tomatoes, parsley, raisins, garbanzos, toasted almonds and spinach (I'm probably missing a few ingredients) tossed in a light vinaigrette. I've attempted to recreate this at home with some success, but with all those components, it's so much easier just to enjoy it here. My only regret was not taking a photo to show you. My wife's Keftedes were three generously sized, well-seasoned and perfectly cooked meatballs, served with a ramekin of delicious tzatziki sauce. I had the Kalamaki Chicken Plate as my entree. This is similar to Souvlaki, but served as a platter rather than a sandwich. Two skewers of grilled chicken were served with crispy Greek style fries, a nice mixed salad, tzatziki and some pita triangles. My wife's Grilled Salmon was perfectly cooked and was served on a flavorful bed of spinach rice in a lemony sauce. We both ended our meal with sweet and crisp triangles of Baklava, filled with walnuts and sprinkled with chopped pistachios. A Greek Rice Pudding is also available. Our server, Maggie, provided friendly, professional and efficient service and is a credit to the establishment. This is not a place that slapped a few Greek posters on the walls and called it a day. The beautiful blue and white decor, complete with string lights (even indoors!) and piped-in bouzouki music, will instantly transport you to the Island of Mykonos for a leisurely lunch, and with a whole lot less hassle than traveling there. Souvlaki GR opened in 2021 and we've been here several times, but it had been about a year since we last partook.
