A great local spot for excellent Greek fare. Great to see it busy on a Tuesday. Not slammed but flowing. Fun dinner with family mixed with good service and food. Happy atmosphere. Definitely a great time. Food as always perfect. Got to love those potatoes.

We love Chris' Taverna! Always great service and delicious food. This location has much more seating than their other location. It is also a little nicer but it's still casual enough! I always get the gyro wrap! My husband gets either the souvlaki or lamb shank! Both are amazing, and where else can you get a lamb shank? It literally falls off the bone. The waitress reminded us to try the bone marrow inside the bones as well!

Looking forward to a delicious lunch

Chris' is the best Greek food in south Florida! My family and I ordered takeout. We had a large order with a lot of modifications, all of which they got right. I ordered a Greek salad, which was very fresh. It had bright-red tomatoes, large cucumbers and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The salad was expensive, about $20, but it was large and I got two meals out of it. The pita and taziki is always delicious, with hints of garlic and salt. I've never dined in, but the staff is always welcoming at the register when we pick our food up. My only note is the dining room doesn't feel inviting. It has perfectly aligned rows of tables, making it feel like a cold atmosphere.

What a great place. Fresh food great service and huge portion. We shared the Grecian platter and the meat was nicely done. There was 4 kind of meat. The platter is for two, but I think it can be for three to four people. The pita and tzatziki were amazing. The pita was warm and the sauce was homemade. Greek salad was great. It gets packed starting at 530 and by 7 it was a full house. Will come again.

I love all greek food but Chris taverna on Lantana and jog is truly one of my favorites. I've done large group orders and have come here for lunch multiple times with my manager and my husband. The gyro is delicious and my hubby and I usually split the grecian platter which has pork chunks gyro meat and 3 lamb chops. Sometimes we get the spanokopita as well. Everything is consistently delicious. The servers are always friendly and attentive. I've been coming here for years and recommend this to anyone in search of delicious Greek food with generous portions.

This is a friendly authentic Greek restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food is always fresh and delicious, they give you very generous portion (except the octopus entree). if i m around the area, which is not too often, i like to stop by but i have not been here for a long time. Ican see things have changed a bit but it is still always a great place to eat. I like their humus and also tried the tzatziki, both are very good with pita. The lemon chicken soup is another favorite of mine here. The best entree is the grilled octopus with the greek salad, so yummy. Wish the octopus were a bit bigger. I love the restaurant but this time compare to what i was used to here, i have some complaints .. the octopus itself is much smaller than used to be, no more complimentary dish to start with.. and their prices have gone up since last time as well. The restaurant is kid friendly but they do not have kid's menu, which is bad, as for my little kids i had to order an adult dish to share (30$) which they could not even finish. If you want some intimate atmosphere it is not the place to be, as it tend to be noisy, specially when full house.. Regardless, If you like Mediterranean food and want authetic greek dish, it is a great place to eat!

My parents and I were here on Father's Day, Vicki was our server and she was excellent. We were there for lunch and they were busy (nothing new for them). The food was delicious, the place is not quiet but not too loud, nothing fancy. My mom had the Shrimp Saganaki, I never saw my mom finish anything, she loved it. My pop had the Grilled Chicken over Pita he thoroughly enjoyed it. He mentioned the chicken has a nice flavor, not bland or dry. I usually order Spanakopita ( my favorite ) but I was in the mood for Dolmades plain rice they are delicious, better than most , not bitter or tangy. I tried the Mediterranean Pita, it was very good plenty of feta, nicely done. Desserts there are only two options Baklava or Galaktoboureko in short Greek Custard. You can't go wrong here, great food, great service!!

A fabulous Greek restaurant, always packed and always good. Can't go wrong here we ordered the moussaka, Mediterranean shrimp, and a Gyro. As soon as you sit down, they bring you a couple of platters of pita bread with tzatziki sauce. Then they serve you a house salad that comes with everything and it's awesome Greek salad with feta cheese and olives all over it. Service is very quick at this place. Nothing seems to take very long. You barely seem to finish your salad and your entrée arrives. I had the moussaka and it reminds me of my aunt Shirly, when she would come to town, she would make a huge batch of moussaka for the family to eat. My wife had a Gyro and although I'm sure it was delicious. She only eats about a quarter or maybe half of it and takes the rest home to have later. My brother had the Mediterranean shrimp which he swears is the best dish on the whole menu. All the portions are rather large and we all had to go boxes. I love this place.

I've been a loyal customer since the early 2000s. Chris's Taverna is so consistent with their food quality and service. I have seen them expand and grow. Somehow still keep their keen eye on QUALITY. That may sound like an easy thing but it's not as easy to put into practice. We have also done catering with them for our house warming party and the food was outstanding! So happy to support a local family business that exemplifies excellence!

Excellent Greek food, large portions, fresh food really really good people come from all around to go there, miss rebecca

I usually ate here at least twice a month or more for six years. And brought guests constantly . The food was always well prepared and at a reasonable price. The owner was always very friendly. BUT I will never again go back to Sofra after my experience last night. Last night I went with a couple of people that I had raved about this restaurant to. The owner, who certainly must've recognized me from the countless times I've eaten there in five years, barely grunted at me and the vibes I got from him were not very welcoming. He seemed really angry about something and was taking it out on his customers. There was only one other table that had customers and this was a Friday night. I found that really odd because other restaurants surrounding Sofra had lots of people sitting outside eating at their restaurants I ordered a falafel plate and others at our table ordered the İskender and another entrée. I practically passed out when I got the bill because I guess I didn't check the prices when I was ordering. The falafel plate, which was basically a spoonful of salad, a spoonful of rice, a few hard burned falafel, soup and a dribbling of tahini was $33. This is obscene. When this restaurant first opened they were charging for the same plate $15 and then they went to $25 after a few years which I thought was pretty high for the food we were getting but $33 is just plain greedy. I won't even do a review on the other two entrées because my party could barely eat them. I now see why there was nobody, literally nobody in this restaurant on a Friday night. And the owner, what happened to him? he used to be such a friendly guy and now he is just an angry man. The waitress never went back to check on us and refill our water after taking our order. Despite only two tables with customers in this restaurant. I read some of the reviews where owner says he hates the fucking country so why doesn't he just leave? There's plenty of really good Mediterranean restaurants that are not going to charge this kind of money for Mediterranean food. Even if the felafel was the best falafel I've ever eaten in my entire life - $33 is crazy. And it was not very good felafel - in fact all the food is mediocre. Where it once was amazing. So my suggestion to the owner is to lower his prices, improve the quality of his food and improve his attitude

It was founded by owner Christos "Chris" Charoudis, the restaurant's menu is largely inspired by traditional family recipes. Chris's mother, Eleni, personally quality-controlled the dishes to ensure authenticity. This is the original restaurant, at the corner of Lantana Rd. & Jog, a second is on Congress, They have expanded & during covid outdoor dining in the parking lot was created. There is a free parking in front along with a steady stream of pick up traffic. The menu offers extensive Greek dishes with servers being very quick & efficient. Portions at Chris' Taverna are enormous. One plate is enough for more than enough for 2 of us to share. The restaurant is casual, reservations are not accepted, it's first come & first serve. Tonight six of us met here for dinner. We arrived before 6:00 and waited only a few minutes for a table. When we left there was a line outside. When we were seated we were given water & a garlic spread with warm fresh pita. We all shared babaganosh & generous delicious dips. My husband & I shared a gyro salad with lots of grilled lamb, more than enough for us both. Others enjoyed greek chicken salad, shrimp with pasta, and spanakopita. Everyone brought leftovers home, enough for a few meals. Happily we weren't rushed.

Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying without feeling too heavy. First of all, the portions were HUGE. There was so much food. It was perfect to order a couple dishes to share between us. But the real star of the show was the tzatziki. Phenomenal. I genuinely wanted to eat it with a spoon. Creamy, garlicky, perfectly balanced 10/10. The salad was just what I wanted after sitting in the sun all morning. Crisp, refreshing , and not an afterthought like it can be at some places. Every bite felt fresh and well-seasoned. To be honest, I did use the tzatziki and salad dressing instead of the provided salad dressing. And the gyro wrap with garlic fries? Easily one of the best gyros I've had in a while. The meat was flavorful and tender, the wrap was perfectly put together, and those garlic fries were the ideal salty, crispy side. This spot is definitely getting added to the pool day lunch rotation.

The salads had tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, pepperoncinis, and romaine lettuce topped with feta cheese and dressing. There was also a small rice stuffed grape leaf -- cut in half. The salad could have been a meal in itself. The moussaka was layered egg plant and potatoes with a ground beef filling topped with cinnamon béchamel sauce. The pasticchio is the Greek version of lasagna but with elbow macaroni. Both portions were quite filling. I ate my dish and he brought half of his home. He was saving room for dessert. Seated immediately for our reservation, our waiter promptly greeted us & took Beverage requests. Started with a Hendricks Martini ($21) and bottle of sparkling water (unfortunately it's was domestic Mountain Valley & not Pellegrino) and surprisingly priced at $12. As we waited for drinks, we perused the menu. What caught my eye was the many great salads & different from the norm entrees. I started with the Leek Soup ($18) which was outstanding. Flavorful & Vibrant. Next we tried the Green Salad, ($23) perfectly named as it had many kinds of lettuce only. It was incredibly Fresh & served with a light vinaigrette. A large portion. I loved it. Others ordered the Beets & Goat cheese salad ($25) which was delicious as well. Our entrees were: A whole Branzino ($49 and plenty for 2 to share) which was beautifully roasted and served filleted with tail on. A large portion of perfectly sliced & cooked lamb chops ($52) Really good. We also had a side of local roasted baby carrots ($19) with greens still on. Pricey, but maybe the best tasting carrots I've ever had. We finished with one dessert recommendation from our waiter. Sticky Toffee pudding ($16) which was a soft moist tasty Bundt cake with a too small scoop of homemade pistachio ice cream. Good but not up to the standard of the other items we had this evening. Service: we had a perfect experience from our waiter & waitstaff. Incredibly professional and around when needed. Overall the food is really good and justifies the higher prices which in South Florida isn't usually the case. Upon leaving I told the owner/GM that this was the best restaurant I have eaten in 2026! Service was spotty, I had to ask for a glass of ice 3 times and he disappeared towards the end of the meal, as he got busy attending tables outside. It is a small menu with limited options. We started with the mussels and Mediterranean dip. It was very nice but served with a cold whole pita which everyone needs to touch and tear apart. I ordered the steak and frites ( substituting a salad over frites) which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Hubs and another had the flat iron chicken which was very moist, but charred which is not only carcinogenic but bitter in taste which I did not enjoy and would not have eaten. Our friend had the lamb chops which she ordered medium but they came rare but tasted good. We ordered the soufflé and affogato for dessert. The young lady drops off the small dish of vanilla ice cream with the soufflé but no espresso. The soufflé was cold and undercooked. It took awhile for our server to return, and he brought out the espresso which might have sat outside the whole time as it wasn't even hot...our waiter never returned, so we still ate it but it wasn't as good.. A few notes which took away from our experience was the service, cold/undercooked dishes, and the chicken entree lacking as they serve fries but no veggies unless you order carrots or cauliflower at $20? They also charged $12 for water. Not the best experience.

We had an excellent dinner here. We came with friends. We arrived a bit early for our reservation…read moreand they seated us right away. Reservations are a must. We were given menus and told about the nightly specials. It was not an easy decision as many items sounded appealing. We shared their Caesar salad. And our friends shared the burrata special to start. Both were very good. For entrees, we each ordered something different. I got their yellow tail snapper in a white wine butter sauce. It was one of the evening specials. It was literally melt in your mouth. My husband had the salmon livornese. He said his dish was very good -- lots of capers. Our friends had one of the veal scallopini dishes and an order of rigatoni à la vodka. They had a bit of each other's dishes. The veal was tender. The pasta sauce a bit different and the rigatoni al dente. Every plate was devoured down to the last crumb. For dessert, we had the (special) lemon panacotta, a chocolate flourless cake, and apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. My favorite was the panacotta. The ambiance, service, and food all warrant a five star rating. We go out to dinner often with these friends and this was the best dining experience for everyone where not one of the group was disappointed. It is not inexpensive, but oh so worth it. I know now why this restaurant was my cousin's favorite place in West Palm. When you want a treat, this is the venue to choose.
