Finally had a day off and decided to try this place for brunch on Sunday and had unlimited mimosas and food.. it was amazing and service was great as well especially since our group was a group of 10. They had a live performer singing songs and it was such a vibe. Michelle was our server and she was very attentive and knowledgeable. Ordered a filthy gin martini with blue cheese olives and the penicillin. Both outstanding! It's hard to find a bartender that can make a "filthy" martini on the first try - I hate being a bother to order extra olive juice. Which leads me to my only complaint... I probably would've been charged for the extra juice. $2 for blue cheese olives kind of rubbed me wrong. I would've went without had I known. But again, my only complaint! Prices definitely reflected the quality/ deliciousness of what we enjoyed. The queso was superb with its fire show and with a blend of Mexican/ Indian flavors. Do understand this is not "queso dip", it's queso flameado- cheese you pull apart/ cut. Loved the roti on the side which paired well with the sauce on top (hence the Indian part). Lastly is the sliders - well worth the $20 they charge! Thick, juicy slider patties with toppings that resemble an Asian slaw. The sweet vinegar flavor was so different but so good! From the host, to the server to I'm guessing the managers? Everyone was so attentive to our table and making sure our dining experience was above and beyond. Palate was our next stop during our Arts District barhop. Though they also serve food here, we decided to just stick with their drinks. We walked in and took a seat at their spacious bar, where they had a live musician singing and playing the piano at the time of our visit. It was a little later in the night, so it had cleared out a bit, with the exception of the musician and three other customers inside with us. The chairs at the bar were super comfortable, it felt like I was sitting on a throne. Once we sat down, were given complimentary dark liqueur shots first, in which I let my boyfriend have both, because I'm not the biggest fan of dark liqueur. After looking over their drink menu, I decided on a Chardonnay wine originating from Central Coast, California, and my boyfriend chose their Days in Mexico cocktail. The bartender gave me a taster sampler of my wine first, just to see how I would like it before having it by the glass, and yes, I did like it. The Days in Mexico cocktail was presented to my boyfriend in a very unique way - it was locked inside of a treasure chest before being opened with all the fog inside escaping out of it. This was something I haven't seen before and I thought this was very cool! The restrooms here have a strange setup. When I walked in, I noticed that I didn't see a sink inside, and I asked myself, do they actually have sinks here? But when I walked out and looked to my left, I realized that the sinks were in a separate room, which is something I've never seen in an establishment before. It may have been my buzzy brain thinking about it now, but figuring out how to turn the sink on was also a little confusing, but I found out how eventually. I really enjoyed this place! Tl;Dr - If you want to spend less than $100 do it and grab a drink from here. If you plan to spend over $100 there are better places within walking distance. My wife took me here for dinner as a surprise for my birthday. First time either of us had been inside or eaten here. It was a lovely gift. However as we began to order and get our food things started to make us look off at the "invisible camera" like Jim Halpert in an episode of the Office. So, let's get into it. VIBES: 2.5/5 We appreciate that the art that is on the walls is from local artists. We even appreciate the piano player (who was PHENOMENAL). But the general ambiance takes you nowhere, there is no "escape" when you enter here. It feels like you're in a steampunk adjacent renaissance restaurant of sorts. Simply put, "there's a lot going on" here that it feels disjointed from an aesthetics POV. Also the giant chairs in the center were so big I literally couldn't see beyond our booth. Couldn't even see the piano until we left. VALUE: 2.5/5 for the price we paid (over $200) I can firmly and confidently say there are options nearby that feel more "worth it". Not just from a pricing standpoint, but from a whole package standpoint. I just felt very middling about the value of the experience. Especially on a birthday. SERVICE: 2.5/5 Service here was eh. I found it slow, choppy, and lacking in fluidity. Just didn't feel like a well oiled machine. Everyone is nice, but again there was a lot going on here that it felt choppy. FOOD: 2.5/5 DRINKS ARE AMAZING but the food I think ties back up to value. We ordered some flaming cheese topped with tomato paste with a side of some kinda bread (tastes like a deconstructed pizza) Scallops & grits, and finally a 22oz Wagyu steak (98$). I'll wrap this up by saying nothing was bad, it was just all very in the middle. The cheese dish tasted like pizza, the scallops were actually pretty good but more grits woulda been nice. And the steak...well if you are getting Wagyu for $98 there are only so many ways it can go. Either a high quality small piece or a lower quality big piece. This was the latter, maybe a top sirloin American Wagyu. Not a bad piece of meat, it was seasoned very well, but far from melt in your mouth. Also, I asked for medium rare and got very rare. Had to send it back and ask for medium to get the right temp. So that was a bummer. read more
