Tried out Palate Kitchen today for the very first time. Beautiful space with an upstairs and a downstairs sitting area. They have a wide variety of food options. Staff is extremely friendly and guided us to our table upon arrival. For breakfast I ordered the steak and eggs as well as the London Fog. The London fog was very flavorful and it came with a cute heart display. The steak was also cooked perfectly and went well with my sunny side up eggs.
Yummy dinner and happy hour! Don't skip the NA drinks because the ginger mint mojito mocktail was sooo good! Ordered the rigatoni ragu and Cajun chicken. Both dishes were a little on the salty side but good overall! Would definitely come back to try more of their happy hour menu!
Stumbled upon this bistro while walking to Stanley Park. This 2 level spot is just as delicious as it is pretty. Emma was our server and she was delightful. Service was prompt. Everything was absolutely delicious. The music playing added to the in inviting and comfortable ambiance. Coffee beverages were creamy and delicious. Breakfast was a bit spendy but well worth it.
10/10 food. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The mushroom benedict was amazing and the matcha was as well. My partner had the salmon benedict which was also great. The service was great and the restaurant itself was very cute.
A stunning restaurant with high ceilings. Coffee isn't great but the food is much better. For some reason the coffee has a sour after taste. Service is great despite a large venue. The huevos rotos is a touch too salty and meat is chewy. The serving sizes are on the smaller size but plated beautifully. Make reservations to avoid waiting for a table.
Went for brunch. Service was perfect , quick and friendly. Tried eggs Benedict + bacon with medium poached eggs. Came on soft pieces of bread. Cooked perfectly , potatoes were soft could have been a little more crispy but tasted good. It is a really bright and spacious space , the front has a counter for take out coffee + baking then a host stand to dine in. There are 4 stairs from street level into the main entrance , I am not sure if it is accessible from another entrance for wheelchair. Also about half the seating is up a full flight of stairs inside.
Went here for brunch, nice ambience inside, clean and modern in an older space. Service was attentive and friendly. Food came out timely and was delicious. I had the Breakfast Burger which included cheese, fried egg, sautéed onions and roasted tomatoes with oven roasted potatoes on the side. My wife had Assam Breakfast with poached eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, roasted potatoes and baked beans. We will definitely be back.
I had the mushroom truffle toast and added on a scrambled egg. Always hits the right spot! Lots of mushroom and lots of truffle flavour. Be sure to make a reso if you're going around lunch time.
What a great brunch spot. Beautiful ambience and high tea is available in the afternoon. Eggs Benedict was good, French toast was good but can use some syrup, the lamb meatballs were exceptional. The meat was Seasoned well and the sauce was amazing. Definitely one of the best lamb meatballs for a while. Our server was super sweet. Good coffees and mimosas. Definitely a good stop for breakfast or lunch when in Downtown Vancouver.
Went here on a Sunday morning for brunch, I was very grateful that my friend had got a reservation because it was pretty crowded. We were seated right away which was nice! This time I ordered their lamb bistro toast which came on a sourdough toast with a hummus spread, slow roasted lamb, cheese, arugula, and other sauces. It was really tasty but it was really hard to eat, the toast wouldn't cut properly and when it did, all the toppings would fall apart. My partner got their mushroom truffle toast which seemed really good on the menu but the sourdough was burnt which made the toast very hard to eat. Considering the only thing on this was mushrooms and hummus spread, the spread was very little that we couldn't taste it. We also got a side of potatoes which were not salted too well. The service this time was ok, I had asked the server to give my fried egg on the side but they forgot. We also had to wait 15-20mins for a set of cutlery and it took them a really long time to get our bill despite us asking twice. Maybe because they were really busy. They did give us complimentary dessert which was delicious! It was a lemon cake! Would definitely get that when I go next!
I met a friend here for brunch. I was immediately awed by the interior when I walked in - it's very open with a high ceiling and two lofts on either end of the space. We were lucky to get a table right by the window on the second floor that gave us a great view of the harbour and North/West Vancouver. The food was great! I was really craving French toast so that was what I got. I don't think I've tried deep-fried French toast before and was a little hesitant about that part, but I didn't notice any oiliness. The deep-fry gave the slices of toast a crispy exterior but they were nice and soft inside. The mascarpone praline was a fantastic topping and there were tonnes of fresh berries. Some of the specialty cocktails on the menu were really tempting but I decided to just get a mocktail. The rosemary grapefruit spritz was a nice accompaniment to my meal - refreshing and nicely balanced between tart and sweet. It's definitely on the pricy side, but honestly, given the location and setting, I was kind of surprised that the prices weren't MORE exorbitant. The staff was very friendly. They were great about refilling water, and even though they weren't dropping by constantly, it was really easy to get their attention when we were ready to order and pay. I would definitely recommend making a reservation since it was pretty busy even on a weekday. Besides the main restaurant, there's a small cafe area by the entrance that's like a mini Pallet Coffee cafe (the restaurant is a project by Pallet Coffee Roasters) with coffee, baked goods, and a few breakfast sandwiches.

Decent brunch place with nice ambiance at a reasonable price downtown. The space is cool, a mix of modern and heritage. It can get pretty loud in there so it's not a place for quiet conversations. Food came out fast, and the huevos rotos was tasty. Big portion, too. The kefta skillet was good, but my partner found the portion to be too small. Waitress was friendly. read more

Palate Kitchen is a spacious brunch spot with so many stunning dishes! I love that they have tons of vegan options as well so there's something for everyone * Eggs Benedict (16) This dish features 2 poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce, kale, and BBQ pulled pork on a semolina biscuit. I loved how the different flavours and textures worked together, and although the portion looks small, it definitely left me feeling stuffed! I especially loved the sweetness from the BBQ pulled pork, but felt that all the saucy ingredients piled on top of the flakey semolina biscuit rendered it a bit soggy when I got to it. * The Fjord (17) This dish features gravlax salmon with whipped cream cheese, avocado, mixed greens, crispy and pickled shallots, and pickled radish on sourdough. The sourdough was thick, decently sour and perfectly moist -- which made it an excellent canvas for the fresh and tender smoked salmon! The thin layer of lemon-herb spread offered the perfect amount of acidity which highlighted the salmon * Mushroom Truffle (VG)(14) This mushroom truffle dish features sourdough toast topped with truffled hummus, sautéed Ponderosa organic mushrooms, fine herbs and mixed greens. Came for brunch on a Sunday. We arrived at around 9:30 and the place was pretty much all full. We had the famous French toast. You could definitely taste the cinnamon in the cinnamon toast. I felt that it was a bit too oily for me. It needed more of the mascarpone praline to balance out the oil. Visually it looked beautiful but after eating half it felt heavy and I got sick of it quickly. We also the eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were well done. We got it with bacon. They were very generous with the bacon. The ciabatta bread was way too hard to cut through. I had to pick it up in order to be able to eat it as my knife couldn't cut through it. Overall: very beautiful space and nicely plated items. Visually appealing but didn't have me craving for more. read more

I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. Was pretty good. The Ciabatta was cold and tasted a few days old. I would have preferred if they could have toasted it. Next time I would ask for the sourdough. Everything else was great on the plate. Service was great also. The place itself just gave me office meeting vibes. Very administrative feel to the place. Not very relaxing. Felt out of place without working on a laptop or meeting with a client. That's how I would best describe the place. read more
Well was I utterly stunned when I walked in here!!! Got taken on an adventure date brunch ... meaning I had zero clue where I was going, all I knew is that it involved food. Food ... sign me up always, no questions asked & no hesitation! The Palate Kitchen is absolutely breathtaking when you walk in! Super high ceiling, spacious, 2 mezzanine floors (gotta sit up there next time) cool background music, attentive staff, blizzard pearl white walls ... I absolutely love it!!! It actually reminds me of my time London ... come to think of it! The building is listed as heritage (prestigious) cause wow ... you know what - just come see for yourselves! The food is supreme - the Lamb Bistro Toast a must & my Kefta Skillet (Moroccan meatballs) to be honest tasted waaaayyyyyyy too healthy aka I craved salt! I wanted more salt but realized that I need to slow down on elevating my blood pressure ... so I had to admit less salt was the better option! Ok so I lied to myself & could have definitely poured salt all over my plate ... but I didn't! Regardless the dish was still a hit. Definitely going back to the Palate Kitchen ASAP! Future idea for this spot from yours truly ... lounge at night - bring out the sofas, turn up the music & let the strob lights flash away! Good place but not extraordinary. No complaints about the Benedict or the breakfast plate, they were fine. They also had a wide selection of drinks, including some cocktails and wine. The service was good and quick and the place looks pretty cool. read more

Nice big airy high ceiling restaurant. All white decor with frosted white small glass panels art deco ceiling. Unfortunately, the noise level is above average, clacking dishes and voices are echoed and amplified, Ordered the Eggs Benny with pulled pork and Mushroom Truffle toast and decided to Yolo it with a Mimosa. How else would you spend a Sunday afternoon before the Superbowl. Hmmmm, they ran out of orange juice, substituted the Mimosa with grapefruit juice, no harm no foul. Eggs cooked light & runny as ordered, very generous with the pulled pork. Don't you hate it when you order a dish with truffle and the truffle unami flavor is hardly noticeable, well this dish was like a truffle bomb exploded all over my face, what a wonderful world we live in at the moment. Update to Palate Kitchen. I decided to go with different items this time. Healthy Heurvos - definitely a healthier version since the tortilla is not fried and healthier fresh ingredients. Tasty and not a heavy feeling after you finish eating it. Mushroom Toast - truffle hummus with mushrooms and topped with fresh leafy greens. A little on the oily side, but delicious. The Fjord Toast is still my favorite. Still a huge fan of this place! read more
The restaurant is known for their brunch service. We came here to try their afternoon tea with the groupon deal. I think they are fairly new to the tea service. We had a reservation at 2pm and arrived 15 mins early and were asked to come back at 2pm. I guess that explains why there were a bunch of people outside. Anyways, 2pm hits and everyone started to line up to get seated. There were 6 tables including us. The logistics for the service is a bit slow. We got our glass of water but the tea didn't come till almost 2:40 and our food didn't arrived till 2:50 I got very hungry. Our waitress keeps refilling our glass of water though. Now that I think back... why were our glasses of water kept getting refilled instead of our tea Anyways, the ambiance and food a pretty good. We were sitting beside the window with a cute plant decor. The music is a bit loud for afternoon tea. Foodwise, I really like their scones and savoury truffle pastry and slider. Overall, I think they are so used to brunch service that their tea service is a bit different from other tea places. read more

Waite staff are fantastic. We had breakfast this morning and we loved our choices. Emi had their famous French Toast and I had the Salmon Toast with both being delicious. Started with some mimosas and hot chocolate and bit hit the spot. If i'm ever in Vancouver again i'll be back. So worth it! read more
I was seated promptly when I arrived, food and drink came quickly. I ordered a roast lamb & hummus toast and a drip coffee. Taste of roast lamb is fine, and so is the hummus, but I could taste the greasy oil on the bread, which was a BIG YUCK! The dish lacks depth and dimension, I think it would taste better if there's some mint jelly and pomegranate seeds to give some sweetness and acidity. Also for a $4 drip coffee, they do not provide refill. I've never been to any restaurant that doesn't offer coffee refill. Server looks tired and unfriendly, doesn't even care to wear a polite smile on her face. For that price, I could have much better and enjoyable brunch elsewhere. So underwhelming, will not be back. read more

Here is what we ordered: Mascarpone Hot Cake: Moist, not too sweet Eggs Benedict with Gravalax Salmon Moroccan Meatballs Skillet with Poached Eggs: Super tasty, great to soak up with the toasted sourdough Sausage Skillet with Poached Eggs We also ordered mimosas and coffee. Robust flavours but modernized to achieve taste explosion. The cheese, hummus, arugula/verde sauce provided the necessary umami, lifting the clean lamb taste. I will say that the cookery of the protein is pretty darn good, succulent, pink, and still moist and tender. Beautiful restaurant - don't let it's nondescript facade fool you. We decided on take away though to take advantage of our hotel views. The signature palate breakfast was a perfect balance of expertly made over easy eggs along with soft and chewy bacon, sausage, mini roasted potatoes, mushrooms, tomatoes, and rustic bread. A feast for one, but could fill two. But did I stop there? Noooooo. Also got the Marscapone hot cakes. The hot cake itself was a bit dry, but the berry mascarpone, maple syrup (this is Canada, folks), fresh berries, and seeds enhanced the dish. Will try their famous French toast next time! My order came right on their estimated time and the hostess was very friendly. Good vibes w good food! The eggs Benedict here *chef's kiss* with pulled pork. Loved this dish. My friend made reservations here on a Saturday. It is a great space with 2 floors. We were seated on the 2nd floor near the windows and corner spot. Great seating. Decor is simple and stylish. Loved the vibe of this place. Food was great. And they had a strawberry/rose drink option which my friend and I tried. On the more pricey side but definitely worth it! read more

This place is utterly disgusting. I order a smoke salmon avocado toast and there was literally a huge lump of unseasoned avocado in the middle of my toast. It looked so nasty I could I could not even eat it. Who serves avocado toast this way?? It's a very simple dish and for a restaurant to mess it up is disturbing. I also had the hot cake and it tasted like a dry piece of cornbread with extra sugar. Would not recommend read more
Came for brunch on a Sunday morning. The inside is pretty impressive. Very light and minimalistic. The food options were the basics so everyone should be able to find something they like. This will be a short review as I didn't love it but didn't hate it. Probably won't be back as the food didn't wow me or inspire me to come back to try something different. Service was fine. I came here for brunch when the restaurant had started running for a few days. It is very spacious and the ceiling is very high. Basically the restaurant is wide open in the middle with stairs to go to the second floor. If you look at the interior photos, tables and chairs are on each side of the second floor. The ground floor definitely has chairs and tables. Many servers were serving customers. All of them were friendly. The one who served us was called Amy (if I didn't memorize her name wrong). She got her working holiday or working visa to come to Canada from New Zealand. She was very friendly and chatted with us. She introduced the special dishes to us. We placed an order with her after we settled down. We ordered a cup of latte and a cup of flat white. Both tasted good. Their coffee was leaning towards the sour side but the flavour was manageable. We also ordered lamb 24 and Kefta tagine. Again please see attached photos. Both dishes tasted great. They were very unique that they were the restaurant's signature dishes. One thing that I did not like was the wait time. It was quite long! Since we had sat down and ordered the beverages and food, it took more than half an hour. Since we had been waiting for the food for so long, we definitely wanted to sit longer and enjoyed the environment. Would I come back to try other dishes or the coffee beverages? I guess so. It's good to come here with friends or family. But be expected that you may have to wait for the food for a long time unless the restaurant has changed to be more efficient. read more
They called it a hot cake but it wasn't even slightly warm... They we're having major service issues. We ordered our drinks and waited a long while and watched the food plates stack up on the window, so many they started putting them outside the warmer lights. After our food had arrived the server came and said they could not make a pour over coffee because the barista was too busy. So my husband asked for a regular coffee. My hotcakes were not hot. Husband liked his eggs Benny and said the eggs were cooked perfect but the bread was a little too thick. I wanted to like this place more but it fell a little flat for us. read more
We came in and it was busy! Luckily, we booked a reservation a night before! As soon as we walked in, we noticed their little cafe again. It was cute and not very packed. Once we reached the main dining area, it was filled with laughs and lots of groups. We were seated and ordered. We were surprised with how quickly the drinks came and the food followed quickly after!! The food was great, the service was wonderful and the drinks were even better than I thought! Really enjoyed our brunch today. Party of 6 including two toddlers. The venue is so classy and modern. The service is speedy and attentive except for bringing the youngest child's meal out last even though it was yogurt and fruit and toppings. Affordable, delicious--only one dish disappointed and that was the marscapone hot cake--it was dry and dense. My favorite was actually finishing the kid's yogurt and granola though I also enjoyed finishing wifey's French toast and my own kefta skillet though the meat was a little salty. Tip: Make a reservation as they get busy! It is definitely a brunch place for you and your girls to gab and chat. The ambiance is great and the food is pretty to look at. The food is decent but I wouldn't come back just for the food. The food is super Instragramable. The French toast should definitely be shared and it was really yummy and I wasn't disappointed. However their other toasts were good but not mind blowing. I am going to be a blunt: this place is for basic people and not for real foodies. I fully admit I am basic and love my PSL but you have been warned. This place won't impress your foodie friends especially since there are so many other brunch places with better food, portion and price. read more

This place was super cute and had a European feel. Our breakfast portions were HUGE and everyone enjoyed their food. We tried their French toast, eggs Benedict, waffles with eggs and bacon, and lox platter. Their coffee was also quite tasty. So much so that if you save your receipt you can get a discount on a bag of their coffee to take home. Bonus! read more

I love the decor and aesthetic of this spot, we came in for a brunch and I recall my friend and I discussing how we had no idea we were going to walk into such a fairytale looking place. I got a version of the Mezze plate that came with avocadoes, falafels, hummus and mixed greens and it was heavenly. I also ordered their matcha latte and the art was impeccable as well read more
Came here for brunch with a friend. We ordered the fjord toast, pulled pork eggs benny and the mini hot cake. I liked the fjord toast the most but I do find it to be pricey for a toast ($19). The eggs benny doesn't come with any sides (additional +$) but it was very savoury and rich.
