Wow! My husband and I got married here April 26, 2014 and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! We booked a year in advance and were in constant communication. It was so easy to get a hold of them and they were so accommodating throughout the whole process. We wanted an open bar for the first hour and then just beer and wine the rest of the time. They have never done that before, but made it happen and the price was extremely fair. The food at the wedding was delicious! Guests continued to tell me how great their meals were. For appetizers, we had cheese tables, jalapeno poppers, and mini pizzas. I had one friend tell me they were following around the jalapeno poppers just to get more! The food was seriously delicious and the service was great! Someone was always there to get me or my husband a drink as well... we never had to leave the dance floor! When we left the wedding to change before the after party, there was a cart there ready to take us to the suite and also water as I requested. The wedding venue was beautiful. My husband and I just received the photos from our wedding and they are gorgeous. Guests keep talking about how amazing the reception tent was and how beautiful the ceremony was! This place is your typical country side getaway resort. I came here for a wedding and it was held in the lovely garden pavilion area set towards the back of the resort. A nice shuttle came and picked us up and we were the escorted to the back of the resort where the wedding took place. Here is where this place gets a minus. The way this place was built is horrible. All the guest that attended the wedding were facing the sun in 100 degree weather!! During the ceremony, people stood up and went to the sides under the minimal shade provided by the few trees that stood there. The resort then decided to hand out little umbrellas to the elderly and people who were dying of the heat, and when they opened it....bird poop covered the top of the white umbrellas. The second minus is given because of the fact that it is located right next to the 15 freeway. Again, it's a resort, and if I were paying money to come here and "getaway," I wouldn't want to be right next to the 15 freeway with all the traffic and noise coming from there. Played the course on Sunday. Not even going to waste my time reviewing that. Got double charged! They charged me for the round then reported to Golfnow that I was a no show. Could get no where over the phone. Went back to the management and got no where. Tried to follow up and never can reach anyone to help. Got ahold of Golfnow who had to get OK to remove charge from the course. They can't reach anyone either. I am going to have to dispute payment on my credit card and it has been a week of trying to get this taken care of. The people there I have talked to were not only rude but they blame Golfnow.. We're driving away from Lake Elsinore after playing the Links at Summerly (fantastic course by the way except the 100 degree temps) and we see a stay and play sign. We yelp it and we tour it and before you know, we're looking out our second floor balcony onto the first fairway. So yes, we stayed, and of course we played. Pretty standard municipal course regarding greens and tee boxes. The tight fairways stepped it up a couple points on the toughness. It could use a little more maintenance for the cost of fees both on the room and the greens (especially considering location). Won't be back but worth it if you get a reduced rate or special. read more

I cannot say that the stipulations were not real, but they were deceptive! A golf and craft beer festival that only had 4 breweries that only offered 1 beer at $8 a cup! The tee time that was free was only offered mon-thurs with a $15 MANDATORY fee, but the event was on Friday and Saturday so couldn't take advantage of on the day of event. The staff had no freakin idea of what was going on, who to ask or where to go?!!!! Prime location, lazy ass mentality. How does this place exist??? I would give them a "0" if I could! What a joke of a place! So many golf courses that actually maintain not only their greens, but a good relationship with their clientele. Not this place! Avoid, Avoid, AVOID!!!! read more

The course isn't bad but they give off this horrible vibe like they only care for locals. Pace of play was kinda slow but the greens were in great shape. The carts here are really nice as well. The pictures I saw online were all edited pictures which leaves the course lacking, in beauty, in comparison. Not a bad course for the price. Completely different from being in Los Angeles. The area is quieter and at night it's darker. You're able to hear the crickets more. The resort has such a nice location. It looks well kept outside but...the inside it's different. Yes, some things should be replaced such as their carpeting, bath tub, sheets and some smaller items. There were stains but not too obvious. If you were to come without shampoo and soap, make sure to bring them. Theirs are cheap brand and make your skin feel gross. Don't forget your swim trunks! There's a pool for everyone and a playground for the kids next to it. Other then that, the room is nice. It does have a certain smell but you get used to it. They will charge for Smart water on your bill; which is ridiculous. Rather go cheap then spend that much. For costing $139/night during the week and $189/night for the weekend, this place should be in better conditions. If I were to come back here, I would. Also the lady at the front desk was nice. She wasn't rude or have a crazy attitude. She did her job well. She didn't give us a hard time. Prepare for a sleepless night. The air conditioning turns on randomly throughout the night(if you're not used to it) and it gets cold. Also the plumbing is something else...the toilet water goes on. The bed sucks. you think you would get used to it, but you don't. It's too springy if that makes any sense. The blankets, sheets and pillows need to be changed. If you're looking for a place to get married, THIS IS IT! It is absolutely beautiful! I had a boho/vintage garden wedding and ceremony and reception area is absolutely stunning. And every single one of my guests (all 200 of them) LOVED the food! And since we got buffet style, they were able to go for seconds. Also, the wedding coordinators are awesome and always quick to respond to any questions or concerns during the planning process. The only reason for a docked star is the honeymoon suite. All the rooms there are very old and worn out. The only thing I wish I could've changed about my wedding night was staying somewhere more clean and romantic. Also, my husband and all the groomsmen were supposed to check into the honeymoon suite to get ready at 11am and the room wasn't ready until about 2pm so they were all waiting outside for 3 hours.. Other than that, every detail about the actual wedding ceremony and reception was absolutely perfect! I would recommend this wedding venue to everyone! We went for a birthday group of golfing. Definitely not being extremely experienced and we had minors with us, felt pressured about pace the whole time. The course attendant followed the part of the group in front of us for 5 holes and was harassing them to hurry when we (the next foursome behind them who was literally there WITH them) he stated were being held up. Which was absolutely ridiculous. They harassed that cart also when he turned back at the snack bar to exchange his drink. The mad following is was abrasive and rude and completely ruined our day as well as our gold experience in front of our kids. The staff that came Out from the pro shop was also rude to his girlfriend and they even left due to the aggressive and rude staff. read more

Stayed here for a wedding and the rooms were awful. I was lucky enough to get a room as soon as I checked in but one my friends came before me and the front desk told him his room wasn't ready and they would call him. They never called so at 7pm he ended up calling the front desk and they said ohhhh yea it's been ready. Good thing he knew us I got ready in our room before the wedding. The rooms are basic as basic gets. Furniture is old and the beds are horrible. Our mattress was the worst thing I have ever experienced. All night my husband and I rolled towards the center, time for new mattresses! It was lumpy and we felt like our feet were higher than our heads. The pillows are super flat and there are NO blankets anywhere in the room, just the sheet on the bed. Not a huge deal breaker but there is no room service on Fridays. Only weekends. They really shouldn't call themselves a "resort". Would not stay here again! read more

I am getting married in March next year at a venue that's extremely close to Pala Mesa Resort. I continue to call, and they continue to tell me it's too early to book. (Not the front desk's fault). Which I understand, however I have a group of bridesmaid's and family members that would like to stay here. That's thousands of dollars they're missing out on. And no one seems to know when the system will allow me to book rooms, or have a reasonable solution to the problem. Not one person has even asked to pass this on to a manager to see if it's possible? I give Pala Mesa Restaurant ZERO stars! (Yelp made me choose at least one!) The employees who work there were so rude to us when we went in for my Dad's 80th Birthday dinner. If their kitchen closed at 6:30, why did they take a reservation for 6:30?!?! When our waitress walked up to our table, the only thing she said to us was, our kitchen is abreast closed. You need to order now. No greeting, no smile. We were never checked on, waters weren't refilled. She did bring out a dessert for him, which was appreciated. Pala Mesa has really gone downhill. I am a wedding planner with bliss events and on Saturday March 7th I planned a wedding for my client at Pala Mesa. From day one the staff and team there was responsive, professional and dedicated to my clients wedding and making sure that every detail was taken care of. Briana and Kara on the day of the wedding were more than helpful in decorating, setting up and making sure every detail was just as the bride wanted it. The food was amazing and the banquet captain Todd really ran his team well and rolled with any changes that I had and had a calm professional demeanor and was willing to help in anyway that I needed. At the end of the night, one of their staff members Alex helped me load the Pala Mesa shuttle service golf carts (which is a huge bonus for transporting guests after the wedding to their rooms) with all of my clients wedding decor and drive it to their room (over 4 trips of items). He even helped me set up for their after party in the brides parents suite. I am proud to partner with Pala Mesa and hope to plan more weddings at this venue in the future! My wife and I travel often and I am usually not one to comment on service at a location. I fully understand that not everyday is a good one and most places work hard to make up for their deficiencies. However, recently I had the displeasure of staying at Pala Mesa Resort in Fall Brook Ca. I made the reservations one month prior to our stay for a two day Golf tournament. We were aware that this resort was older and needing upgrading, our expectations were set accordingly. We had reserved two additional nights to stay on past the tournament and enjoy the area. At 5:30pm the night before we were to leave, I got a call from Mark Dixon of Pala Mesa, leaving me a message, that they were unable to honor the last night of our reservation due to a construction project they were undergoing. I immediately phoned him back and was only able to leave a message. He never made an attempt to call back that night or the next day. We arrived at the resort around 6:30pm. to check in. Walking to the desk I was happy to see it was Mark behind the counter. I introduced myself and asked what the situation was. He repeated that they were not honoring the last night of our reservation. I remarked how it was unacceptable to wait until the last minute to tell us that and surprised at the lack of effort to communicate this fact before we arrived. I asked what accommodation they would have for us due to this inconvenience. OMG- he looked right at me and said "NOTHING". Now I wasn't looking for a free ride but a little help finding an alternative reservation nearby would have been nice. An apology for their complete unprofessional handling of the matter could have gone a long way. When I expressed my displeasure he was abrupt and completely and totally rude. Mark Dixon should never be in the hospitality business. He is a disgrace to Pala Mesa and any business that deals with the public. Our experience at this resort found that the front desk people were all under trained, rude, unprofessional and simply had no kindness or respect for the guests. In a resort that is falling down around you this is hard to take at any price. The golf course and the people that run that portion of the business were very good. They had their act together, strikingly different than Mark Dixon or the front desk. I am in a leadership role with four traveling Golf clubs. This has been a regular stop over the past years. Not any more!! I have been certain to canceled Pala Mesa from the schedule for all four clubs. One club had played there every 10 months or so. Not any more. This is over 200 Room Reservations, 200 Tee times and countless Bar / Restaurant revenue that Mark Dixon and his rude, untrained front desk have chased from the facility. I would recommend to all--DON"T STAY AT PALA MESA RESORT FOR ANY REASON!!!! I was going to say, I wonder if I will hear from someone that cares from Pala Mesa. I already can tell you I won't. We stayed here over Halloween weekend, despite the average reviews received on Yelp. We got a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. The room was nice and pretty spacious. There is a bar area in the room and a big walk in closet. Our view was nice and the property is very relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised. We brought wine to drink and realized we forgot glasses, so the hotel restaurant had someone bring us glasses even though room service hours were technically over. This place could use a little TLC, but all in all we were very happy with our stay and the service we received. read more

It was nice to see the golf course again. I would have given them 4 or 5 stars, but the customer service at the Pro Shop was atrocious. To give some constructive criticism, when I checked into the prop shop I told them I had an ADA directive, and that I needed to use a cart. The person at the front desk looked down on me saying. "Oh this directive has expired and was dated in December." Basically saying that he did not believe me. In reality, this was when I had the directive created nd in fact it was a permanent directive. I don't think you should question an ADA directive that is signed off and meets the requirements given by a physician. My golfing colleague explained that he was type 1 diabetic and showed his insulin supplies as well as having to show his circular glucose monitor. With other courses that I have played in and around the Southern California area since the Covid-19 issue, I have not had any issues at other golf courses. Also, what I found interesting is they disabled the GPS system. Is there an issue getting a couple of disinfecting wipes or to wipe the monitor down with soap and water? There is a reason why people have ADA directives and they should be honored without question. This could be dangerous to the lives of patrons if they are not followed. On a positive note the greens and fairways were in fantastic shape I enjoyed playing at Pala, great course!! But, the experience at the pro shop was both mystifying and shocking to say the least. It may be a while until I come back to Pala because I really don't think that as well as other patrons should be questioned about their directive signed by a physician. read more

This is a great venue for music, however, management's concept of hospitality is lacking. One of the bartenders is friendly and helpful and the food has always been good. We asked for a heater lamp and our waiter flat out lied to us - said that the 10 we could see sitting on the side of the patio didn't work. 10 minutes later the table behind us was given one and amazingly it worked. The large party off to the side got two, and they both worked. An hour later our table got one, no apologies, no excuses, not a word. We went here for Thanksgiving Brunch because it was about half way between our families (distance-wise). Before arriving, we called to be sure they had vegan options to accommodate 2 of our guests. They insisted there were not only meal options, but dessert options as well. The buffet was $40/each and I guess if you were filling up on shrimp and steak, it was worth it. However, bread and honeydew were the only vegan food items on the buffet. Even the salad had cheese and bacon. Yuck. We went to a server and asked if they could accommodate us, since we were already told they could, and she was polite enough to ask the cooks to make us some veggies and a salad - which we were grateful for! Problem is, we got the veggies COATED in butter. We didn't complain (we were trying to be polite in front of the family), we just paid our $40 each for rice, salad, fruit and bread (that we barely touched). I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the lack of knowledge/respect for our dietary restrictions. Especially after i made it very clear with the staff that we didnt eat animal products. Thankfully it's not an allergy, it's just a preference, nonetheless, still wouldn't go back. read more

Stay away. At least until the buyout from Hilton takes place. After finding out from maintenance that the AC units weren't working in our building and would not be working during our stay, the front desk offered up a $25 refund on a $600 stay. Add the ant infestation in the bathroom and in our beds, $25 seemed a tab bit unfair. When I spoke to the general manager, who initially chose not to speak to me, his excuse for a non-functioning AC system was that it was a hot weekend in SoCal. I'm from Phoenix and it was 116 at home. And my AC is working. After calling the GM on his bogus excuses, he agreed to reduce our rate by nearly $80 a night. And I was fine with this. It was certainly better than $25 total. However, after several families, some with young children, complained about the AC not working and being bit by ants, the general manager refused to give others the same refund we supposedly will receive. The grounds are beautiful and perhaps new ownership can turn this dump around. However, I will never visit Pala Mesa again, not will I recommend it to others. read more

Pala Mesa is a golf resort - was hit by the fires this year - and lost a couple administration buildings during that time. However, the resort is up and running - all new landscaping ... you can still see a number of large trees that made it through the fire - as a reminder of what has passed! I had a king-size room, which not only had a king-size bed, but was actually king-size! The room, on the bottom floor, also had a very large patio with table/chairs. The rooms face the I-15 highway, and when I opened the sliding door, the traffic was fairly loud, in spite of lots of trees and plants around. With the door closed, the room was quiet and pleasant. The majority of other rooms have regular-size patios and the rooms are smaller. Pleasant staff - on-site restaurant was fine, but $4 fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast! They accommodated my request for a rush order, since I had to get to a meeting. There's one computer with complementary internet in the lobby. The meeting rooms have free wireless. The rooms are internet for a fee. read more

I've played here from from time to time for close to 15 years. For the most part the course has been in bad shape over the majority of the 15 years. This last outting was no different. In fact the fairways and tee boxes on the front 9 was basically a mixture of dirt and weeds, the greens not much better. The back a little better I mean $70 for a weekday for this cow pasture is a bit steep. Then there's the carts. Parking brake didn't work and the annoying warnings many right on the cart path itself where your cart automatically slows to a crawl for no reason. Here's the clincher for me. I was talking a practice swing waiting for the green to clear when I accidentally hit my ball off the toe of the club which sent the ball towards my parked cart. The ball rattled around in the cart and broke the GPS screen. At the turn I brought the cart back and explained what happened, an accident. The guys in the pro shop said they understand accidents happen and it's happened before, I apologized. After getting home some young guy named Jason called me up and starts giving me crap over the incident. He didn't care what I had to say just said I'm going to fix it. I said I'm not sure what the law says about a wayward ball but there was no neglect of malace on using the cart just an accident. He then mentioned that I signed a waiver stating I would be responsible. I signed a group paper that had my name cart number and phone number with 20 other guys on the same paper, nothing else. I thought this was handled very poorly . Any other course would have chalked it up to what it was, an accident and the occasional price for doing business. I won't be back. Between my foresome and myself we probably drop in the neighborhood of $400-$500 playing there from green fees to the cart girl to lunch and drinks after. Now they won't get any of that thanks to the rude threatening employee who can't see the big picture. read more

Unfortunately this resort is more like a motel 6. In fact I may prefer motel 6! The price isn't fair. Bottom line. Here's the good: Atmosphere is beautiful! We had a back patio which was nice. The Bad: No water pressure you had to jiggle the toilet handle, and hardly no water came out of the sink in the bathroom. Bed was hard, and very springy. Smelled old from the moment you walk in. Didn't have access to the pool our key never worked. Summer is creeping up on us and the air in our hotel room sucked my fiance was hot all night lol. We made the best of it and informed the front desk of all these issues. Nothing happened. read more

So, I visited Pala Mesa in September. This was my first time, but I was with family and group of about 28 for annual weekend golf trip. The course was great. Challenging and pretty well kept given the conditions and issues Ca is dealing with. I very much enjoyed it and it's varying views, changes in elevations and variety in fairways. Could there be improvements? Sure, but that could be almost said about everything. The golf staff were nice and helpful. The starter Larry was great, he joked around with us and would have fit right in with our group hahaha. The refreshment cart girls were nice and made sure to see if we needed anything. We did think it was a little odd that the snack shack was closed around sometime around noon, and appeared to need 2 people to make it operate more smoothly.... But with all that, still well worth it. Now to the hotel area. Parking and all that was a little odd and some of the spots appear to be smaller/not uniform.... but big deal, you're not here for the parking lot. The rooms are dated and need a facelift and some remodeling. Electronics need updating. Beds felt like hotel beds, so I'm not sure why people complain about those, it's not your personal bed at home, it's a cheap generic bed, so of course it's gonna be comfortable to some and not to others. The bar/restaurant was fine and the food was pretty good. Do all in all its good place, great course... just the rooms need a little fixing/updating. read more

I typically like to start a review with a couple positives. Staff was very nice and the food was pretty good at the restaurant (though we just went for lunch.) Ok so for the hotel review: it's in renovation, and rebranding itself as a Hilton Double Tree. Problem with this is that the room, grounds and amenities are very outdated, falling apart, or just dirty. We paid $200 a night (stayed for 1 night)... they should be charging way less. If you get a deal for $80 for a night... I think that's worth if but felt like we were overcharged. We should have been warned upon booking... just a coutesy heads up.... you know, "hey, we are renovating, parton our mess." We expected to stay at a resort but felt like we were staying at a motel quiet honestly. Looking forward to seeing what's done in a year of so to the property and what Hilton can do for this hotel. read more

I LOVED Pala Mesa! From the staff, to the location.. my day was AMAZING. I still get compliments of guest telling me how my wedding was the best wedding they have been too. The bridal room is so cute!! And has amazing natural light. The ceremony location is breathtaking (do yourself a favor and go see it in person)pictures do not do it justice. The reception (tented area) was so classy and elegant looking. I got married in January and no one was cold. Oh and the food.. SUPER GOOD! We did the Chardonnay chicken and stuffed chicken! BED BUGS!!!! STAY AWAY!!! I had a charity event and we were house at Pala Mesa Resort, me AND my roomate from Florida took bed bugs home from this resort. PLEASE don't stay here. They even lied and said they had the room checked after we left and found nothing, yet when I asked for proof they refused. They also refuse to help pay the bill even though there is no where else we could have gotten them from. Not only that but half the outlets didn't work, the toilet barely flushed, and the reason probably we took the bed bugs home is because we slept in layers of clothes because the heater barely worked. Please try and find anywhere else to stay. read more

We stayed the night for a mini getaway and it was sweet. A little secluded away from all the noise of the freeway. On our way there we read some other yelp reviews and had a sour taste in our mouth and didn't know what to expect. We were hoping for the best! When we arrived we were greeted by a nice front desk employee who was very quiet and straight to the point. Gave us our room key and exact directions to our room. The room was better then we read in other reviews and we were very happy about that. Had all the basics including a king bed. Bed was comfier than expected. The room was a bit outdated but not too bad. View of the golf course was nice. After Check out we wanted to have breakfast but unfortunately the restaurant was closed and it was 11 am. A little bit disappointing. *** only sheets on the bed no actual blanket for the people who get cold fast. Request one if necessary. *** heater /AC work perfectly ***The only issue we had with this room was the tv and it's remote. The remote did not reach to the tv from the bed. What is the definition of "resort?" Did someone redefine it without telling me? I came here as part of a deal to sit through a Welk Resort presentation. Honestly, I agreed to come for the gifts. Note to self: don't ever do this again! The room was a far cry from what a resort should ever be. Everything looked original, from the 50's or 60's. Why? Why not make it liveable? If they think making this place unappealing so it could increase the "wow" factor when we finally see the actual Welk property - you're wrong! Just from being in this room, I have little to no interest in seeing or even buying anything! The first room I was given was a smidge worse than my final room. They moved me to another room because early on, I thankfully learned that the toilet didn't flush. Because it was late in the evening, I was told there was no one on the premises who could fix the issue so I was given another room. Upon entrance, I went straight to the bathroom and tested the toilet to make sure it flushed. I've seen other reviews where they mention bugs or even bug bites. Why would Welk put people up in a place like this!? This is unacceptable. It's deceitful to call this place a resort. I regret accepting the offer to come out for the presentation and I unfortunately would never refer anyone to this either. This is not good marketing - not even a good sales pitch. It would've been better if you made these places look so nice as to whet people's appetites so they can't wait to see what awaits them at Welk. Just some food for thought. Maybe they should invest some money into renovating the whole place. They would get more business that way. Oh wait. Then again, maybe all the business they get is from dumb people like me who are baited over by the free gifts. My bad. Never again. If I could give this place no stars, I would. I hope things get better here - I really do. I would suggest you stop misleading people and replace "resort" with "motel" in the name. It fits that category better. Next day... I ended up leaving shortly after writing and submitting the above review. Started feeling itchy and more uncomfortable and knew I wouldn't sleep so I called the front desk, told him I didn't feel comfortable and was going to leave immediately. He kindly offered another room but I nicely said no thank you (thinking "I'm sure a 3rd room is not going to be any better"). He was a nice kid - told him it wasn't his fault. He said I didn't have to go to the front desk to check out, that he would take care of everything for me so I picked up and left - driving all the way back home after 1AM. By the way, the phone in the room didn't work right. Instead of using the programmed buttons to call specific areas (e.g. Front desk), I had to dial the resort's 10 digit number and go through the various prompts. I arrived home at 3:45AM. Last note: I've stayed at the Welk Resorts a number of times. Great properties! Lawrence Welk and his show ("The Lawrence Welk Show") will always hold a special place in my heart. When I was a kid, my Dad watched the show all the time and I did, too. Seeing old clips, hearing the Welk name - all of it brings back fond memories of my childhood and watching the show with my Dad. Now in my 50's, I love that music! Wish they would revive a new version of that show! All that to say...I have no intention of defaming the Welk resorts by my candidness in this review. The mere association of this location with the Welk properties is only relevant in that Welk chose this resort to put me up overnight prior to the scheduled presentation. Front desk here is incompetent. We're checking in for a wedding and even though I gave front desk girl my name to check in, for 20 minutes argued with me saying there was no reservations under my name when there really was. She didn't even apologize. Terrible customer service! Then considering it's 5pm, and our room wasn't ready still. We had to wait another 15 mins for our room to be ready. read more
