Goat Hill Park is a beautiful yet challenging course in Oceanside. Get ready to get some exercise here as the name suggests HILLS Pros: Goat Hill Park is a great golf course for 18 holes that challenge your skills in more ways than one. If you don't take a cart or rent a little dolly, you will be in for great exercise as there are plenty of hills to go up and down as you trek through the course. There is a water station that has reverse osmosis water near the check-in station. The driving range has a good amount of stations. Cons: parking here can get crowded very quickly. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and had to park in the dirt patch next to the parking lot as it was way too full. Not necessarily a huge con, but a lot of other golfers brought their dogs with them on the course which is fine but could be a hazard for other people driving their golf carts. Nothing too crazy here. Verdict: you're very challenging course, but this course is very fun. I spent around $80 to play here which is a bit on the expensive side but could be worth it if you get Sunset hours or maybe during a different season. I'd recommend other people to come here if they want to challenge themselves at golf. read more

Just had the most money hungry, possibly racist, experience dealing with Hunter the event director at Goat Hill park. (See my Instagram @TheFairwayFox for the full video explanation). But basically I had an event booked there which ended up selling out as soon as I opened up registration. I asked Goat Hill to make my event a shotgun start for 72 players that way everyone can start and finish at the same time. Goat Hill accepted it BUT sent me a contract for $14,000 with a $500 gratuity. You mean to tell me that for no additional services, you want to charge me $201 per player?!! At a par65 course that costs $50 to play at any other day?? I told Hunter that I did a full-buyout at a country club recently for a lot less than $14,500. Asked how it makes sense for Goat Hill to charge more and I'm not even doing a buyout. She responded that I should throw my event there. LOL at that moment I knew she didn't want me or my group to be there. read more

Awesome looking course and amazing views. Prices are pretty good during twilight. Driving range with the putt and chip area is nice. Definitely get a cart. These hills can be brutal when walking it, it definitely lives to its name. Definitely give it a try as the holes are complex and challenging. I'll definitely be back to play here read more

So much fun golfing at Goat Hill Park today. Several holes under construction, but had okay workarounds. Staff was nice and friendly and the course was clean and well maintained. Best part though.... DOG FRIENDLY!!! read more

What a cool little gem in the heart of Oceanside! I have been coming to this course for quite some time and have always appreciated it. Good for beginners and advanced players alike. The course has gone through some recent upgrades, and is still in the process of revamping a couple of the holes still. Its no Torrey Pines, but it is all I need to really have a good time! Side note, I did lose a couple of Pro V1s here... Just in case you stumble upon any. read more

Challenging but fun layout, the conditions are great for the winter. Very nice driving range.

I had an 11:20 tee time with my two brothers. Was hoping for a nice round of golf but that all ended when these 6 kids got put behind us. They asked to play through us and we politely said no and out of frustration, they were hitting into us purposely. On the third hole, one of them hit a drive that missed my head by inches. We quickly headed back to the clubhouse to report them. The people at the front desk were very nice and let us start again on the back nine with some free golf balls. Nice staff but keep kids like that off the golf course. read more

Just wanted to let everyone know the 18th hole is open again. We had damage on one of our cars again this morning. Went to ask about who is going to pay for it and they said they will look for the golfer who's responsible. The golf course just ignores it again this has to stop it's going to hurt or kill someone. I love this course. It's Public, World Class and Working Class. It's a really hard course in a lot of ways, due to the terrain. But, it's chill AF. Meaning you can roll out in your cart with your own little portable speaker and play music, and no one's going to say anything. It's fun to play here, it's technically challenging, and your fellow golfers are usually chill. I see a review about the drone of the 5 Freeway...um there's a Freeway Hole, #7 if I recall, and I love that kind of "work with what you got" You can see the ocean from the driving range, is that annoying? No. It's not. There's a women's league Wednesdays that I can never make it to due to my work schedule. They love community and give back! Bill Murray wore a "Save Goat Hill" shirt on SNL! Mark Wahlberg played there! We play there as often as we can, it's my preferred course in North County. The Wishbone Brawl is always a good time (C Hoffman, X Schauffele SD Natives) - there's literally everything to love and nothing to hate about Goat Hill. Except losing balls. They have assorted beers (from CL to Craft) and "chick drinks" (Truly) cans...need more chick drinks (champagne for Sunday golf). But it's fine. Love the GOAT. The Goat is the GOAT. read more

The pictures on here don't do this place justice!! All in all this is a beautiful course that is fun to play. Lots of elevation change and sometimes a bit difficult, but also mostly forgiving and playable if you shank a shot. I've never had a bad time here. I've had days where I didn't play well, but never have had a bad time on the course. The staff is all super chill and cool. Very friendly and have always been welcoming even when I show up late in the day and try to squeeze in a last minute round. They've been super helpful and willing to work with me. They've done a lot to this place in the last year (or more) with renovations and upgrades which means there's always been some sort of construction happening somewhere on the property. Doesn't really bother me, but I can see where that may effect some others view and perception of the place. Are there better and nicer looking courses in the area? Sure, but you're going to pay double or more to play them. All-in-all, this place is great for the price. Not the best or nicest course in town, but dollar for dollar, it's hard to find a better course for the price anywhere in San Diego County. read more

I've been back multiple times since and it's a fantastic course. Read my prior review for more details, but the facilities and customer service have been great every time. Most importantly, as a sub par golfer who doesn't play as much as he should, this place is VERY welcoming to "blue collar" and irregular players. It just has a very welcoming vibe, from the staff to the other players. I've usually needed to play at sub par exec. courses to get a casual feel, but there you get a sub bar playing experience. Here you get the best of both worlds--great course with a more relaxed vibe. Also, they've got great merch and great beer selection too! read more

You get what you pay for, or less. GHP might have a bit of interesting history, but current ownership does not take care of it very well. It is the proverbial "goat track". Fairways are a little green, the rough is usually dirt or mud or wood chips. Greens are actually decent so I'll give it a second star. What makes the place interesting, and what makes it a shame that they don't do a better job maintaining it, is that the hilly geography is really fun and challenging. So think of this place as a poor man's "Crossings at Carlsbad" where Crossings is a rich modern nation and this place is a nation of shanty towns with malaria and no plumbing. Pace of play was abysmal. Signage was lacking and the layout confusing. First and last time I'll play here. read more

The best short course in all of SD county - likely as well as OC and LA. They have 4 tees to accommodate for different skill levels. The green complexes are some of the toughest in all of San Diego so even though it's under 6000 yds and a par 65, this is a great test of golf - mostly a "2nd shot" type course. You really need to know where to hit the ball of the tee - hint - it's not always at the pin. Course conditions aren't the greatest all around but again, it's a short course - the conditions are great where it counts, and that's the greens and around them. The vibe here is super laid back as well so you don't have any pretense you find at a lot of private courses. read more

Sorry, I don't what the attraction of this place is. I've never played here and decided to walk 9 holes at sundown. I'm not a golf snob and I played well, so I'm not being judgmental because of how I played. I just feel like it's kinda of a joke the way the holes wrap around and the way the greens are sloped. Before I leave this Yelp I want to mention I've been playing golf for over 50 years I'm currently a 7.5 handicap so knowa bit about golf courses. First time playing this Golf Course and my last. First it's an executive course. So the rate should be a bit cheaper than a actual full course. However my big complaint is the greens were recently punched as Sandy as a beach and still had to pay $57. I can play any one of the normal courses I generally play where the greens have been punched for at least 12 to $15 cheaper. Also when I mention this to the guy working in the Pro Shop about the rate he mentioned he wasn't in the mood to take this crap. The course would be okay for 40 $45 Max but not a dime more. read more

Just a great feel and taste in the air when you are at Goat Hill. The hot dogs were fantastic in a special roll instead of a hot dog roll. It was only $8 and included chips. First of all, this is a fun little course with surprisingly nice rolling greens. While it still looks to be a work in progress, there is potential. Goat Hill reminds me of some of the small courses back home in New England with it's quirky layout and postage stamp greens. The drone of the 5 Freeway is a constant but not really annoying. The grounds crew that I encountered along the way looked to be working hard but were very friendly. This however is where the review turns south a bit. I was the first one off this morning and was surprised by how miserably I was greeted. I didn't get his name, but this grumpy, beanie wearing curmudgeon greeted me with a "So what are we doing here?" For reference, the proper greeting is "good morning", "hello" or "how can I help you?" Pick one! If you don't like greeting people at 7am, then stay in bed! Seriously... I may come back as I like the story of the course and what a select few are doing to revive it, but will have to think twice before doing so thanks to the initial contact with staff. One more thing, I was going to pick up a couple of Goat Hill items by Linksoul because I like the brand, but poor customer service in the pro shop killed that! read more

The course is poorly laid out. Worst golf course I've ever played for disc golf. It costs an arm and leg and they don't keep up with it. Most of the signs are illegible and the both times we went the staff were cunts. I don't have a more polite word, just plain rude. Made a reservation and was quoted $80 upon arriving I was told there was a mistake with the system and ended up paying $190. Upon checking my email I indeed had a reservation for $80. When I called them to make things right they pretty much told me tough luck. Pretty bummed being an Oceanside resident and enjoying this course multiple times before. Free family rental of adult & kids clubs to putt and experience the Playground course. What a great 3 holes and contoured green to get the family into golf during a nearby vacation in Carlsbad. Pro shop staff and merchandise were great with plenty of LinkSoul gear. Music, lessons, driving range and a Top 10 ocean-view public course built for the community... World class; Working class! Went there today for the first time to play disc golf. It was great & alot different than the places I'm used to. We got behind some slow "ball golfers" but they let us play through so we ended up cruisin' right along. Sure are some long ass holes 800+ ft.
