There were two issues that kept us from giving it a 5 star. 1. the water pressure in the shower was horrible. couldn't wash my hair because I would not be able to get it rinsed out. 2. the bars style door on the bathroom was super loud when trying to close it. if anyone got up in the night to use the restroom everyone was awake. read more

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing. We found a cockroach in the bathroom around 1:30 AM on our second night, which made us uncomfortable using the bathroom. We reported the issue to the hotel the following morning, but the front desk staff brushed us off and told us to contact Expedia. We provided photo evidence with timestamps, but Expedia reported that the property refused to offer any refund or compensation. I understand that issues can happen at any hotel, but cleanliness and customer service should be a priority -- particularly for a venue hosting weddings and special events. This review is only for the golf course. The course is beautiful and very well maintained. The $119 rate for 18 holes plus cart as of this review is well worth the experience. The cart seats are really comfortable and the interactive screen includes a GPS that tells you exactly how many yards to the green and allows you to order food and drink while playing. Three of us went on a Black Friday weekend and the course was surprisingly empty. As a result, we didn't get paired with a 4th like any group usually would at other courses. The starter gave us great tips, including on how to play hole #3, which has been rated as the most challenging hole in the county by some unknown source. We saw the cart girl throughout our round on at least 3 separate occasions. Great service. Highly recommended. Watch out for wildlife, including rattlesnakes and I assume mountain lions and/or bobcats. read more

Don't come here to golf. This is the slowest golf round I have ever played, pace of play is not enforced what so ever. There are multiple groups in front of us who don't seem to care on bit about the hold up. The Marshall has made has way around many times but nothing has changed. Me and my brother had a 7:20 am tee time, I would understand if it was a 4 pm tee time but we paid to play an enjoyable morning round. Very frustrated as the course is in good condition and the staff is amazing. Pace of play once again was disgraceful and would not recommend to a single person. read more

We had a great experience using this hotel for our wedding hotel block. Setting up our hotel block was easy, and our guests had no issues booking their rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the manager (Mae) was wonderful, and the restaurant was a pleasant surprise with great food and service. We had our wedding here in April and it was an overall great experience. Mae and Traillan were a great help throughout the entire process from setting up our room block, welcoming our guests and capturing the details we wanted for our special day. Traillan was very responsive throughout the entire planning process with any little questions that came up. She worked well with our planner and her staff were pleasant. Overall I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking but did have some some things worth thinking about if booking: - The honeymoon suite is only given to you the day of your wedding at 10am. They do not discount the night before if you want to book the suite which we thought was strange considering how much money you spend to have a wedding there. So my husband and I booked a separate room the Thurs-Fri before our wedding and had to get our planner to help move all of our stuff out of our room the morning of our wedding while I was doing hair and makeup and my husband was golfing with his groomsmen. It just felt a bit chaotic to have to rely on others to make sure our stuff ended up on the right place. In addition we were placed towards the back of all our room block so we were 3-4 buildings away from the rest of our guests the entire weekend. We felt like we couldn't really enjoy the downtime with people as we kept having to walk to and from our room that was farther away. - The honeymoon suite is actually the grooms getting ready space which is beautiful and big, whereas the bridal suite is about a third of the size so depending on the size of your bridal party you may want to factor that in when planning a getting ready space. We couldn't really all sit and hang out at the same time with food and drinks also being set up in the room. It was also pretty warm in the room. The AC didn't seem to work as well. It was actually better opening the window than trying to count on the AC - Early checkin was not a thing discussed when booking but we quickly found out they charged $45 for you to do so IF the room was ready which you couldn't find out until the morning of. Luckily they allowed five of our guests rooms to be waived, but again with as much money we felt we spent and brought by having a room block, we felt nickle and dimed just to be able to allow our guests to check in and get ready for the rehearsal walk through and dinner - Wedding cake storage is not a thing here! This was not discussed when we booked and it was a bit shocking to find out that they refused to store our one tiered wedding cake in their refrigerator the day prior to our wedding. Luckily I was able to finally find a vendor that could drop it off at the time of our reception, but the venue recommended we put it in the mini fridge or bring an ice chest. Again, weddings aren't cheap and we felt it was a bit ridiculous they couldn't help store a small cake for less than a day. - We paid for a second bartender based on our wedding size of around 140. At one point we noticed a line at the bar and my husband and I went over to see only one bartender busting her butt trying to get everyone a drink. She said her coworker was on her lunch, which was around 9pm when people were having fun dancing and looking to get more drinks. We were confused why they would take their break in the middle of one of the busier times instead of during speeches/dances of the reception. It just felt like we paid additional to avoid people waiting for drinks and they ended up doing so anyways. Overall it sounds like we had more complaints than not, but honestly it was a perfect day and we left feeling super happy. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable and it was great being able to walk to every event during the weekend. read more

This was our first time staying at Pala Mesa Golf Resort, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The room was very beautiful, extremely clean, and the king-size bed was large and comfortable. Check-in was easy, and the staff was very nice and welcoming. There were a couple of minor issues that affected our stay. The sliding glass door is a bit dated and had a gap that allowed cold air and outside noise into the room. It felt like sleeping with a window open, and my face and ears became noticeably cold. I was thankful I had packed a thermal and jogging suit, which helped keep me warm. I was eventually able to find a temporary solution by placing a pillow against the door and pushing the desk forward to help block the draft. Parking was also a bit challenging on the second night. The first night went perfectly, as the front desk gave clear directions and we were able to park at Building F1 by the stairs. After returning from a concert around 1:00 a.m. the second night, parking F1 was full, and I had to park farther away between Buildings F3 and F4. Walking back late at night in the cold felt uncomfortable and scary. I did mention the sliding glass door issue to the front desk, but there were no other king-size suites available. Despite these small challenges, the room itself was lovely and the staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Enjoyed every bite and appreciated the friendly atmosphere. It was fun engaging with other patrons and watching the Padres beat the Dodgers. We stayed here overnight for a wedding about 5 min away. Check in was super easy. Its a smaller resort that's quite easy to get around. The signs are clear as to where everything is. Make a left right off the main entrance to get to th3 front desk. All the rooms (8 buildings in total) are off another street from the main entrance. There's enough parking for all the rooms in each building. We were in room 806. Considering it was a hot 96 degrees outside when we checked in. The ac in the room wasn't functioning well. And it stopped working all together when I set it down to 66 degrees on high. I called the front desk and they said not to put it below 68 and on low or else the system acts up. So needless to say it took a really long time to cool down. And being on low the amount of cold air coming out was insufficient. Eventually when we came back from the wedding 6 hours later (and it was cooler outside as well), the room was much more comfortable. And overnight it became downright cold, which was so nice. The king size bed was comfortable. The walls were thick enough I didnt hear my neighbors or hear the cars driving up and down the driveway. Shower pressure was good. View from the windows showed the beautiful gold course. The room did have a sort of stale smell though. But you get use to it after a while. But when u walk outside and come back in it definitely hits you again. The barn style door to the bathroom looked nice. But really didnt match the theme of the room. Overall it was good. My brother and cousins had rooms at this resort as well. They had no complaints about their ac unit. read more

This is a review for the Pala Mesa resort in terms of lodging / hotel, not as a wedding venue! We had a wonderful stay at the Pala Mesa Resort hotel. Conveniently located near the highway & in a beautiful area. Check-in was smooth, they were able to give us our room keys right on the dot at 4pm which was great. Check out is 11AM. The woman that helped us was very friendly & gave us a map with instructions on how to get to our room as the layout was kind of confusing for us at first. From the check in desk, we had to drive to our hotel room which is basically across the street. Lots of parking available on hotel grounds, so we never had to be wary coming back home late after a wedding & worry if we couldn't find parking. From the outside of the hotel rooms, I was not expecting much since it looks older. But I was pleasantly surprised by the interior of the room. Everything was clean & had a modern, new look so I'm thinking maybe they remodeled. The room was spacious. I liked how big the restroom was as well, our room had a bath tub & shower. Lighting was great in the bathroom for getting ready. I really liked how clean & sanitary the room felt - especially in the bathroom. They provided a generous amount of towels alongside soaps & basic toiletries you would expect from a hotel. I would recommend staying here for lodging! Even if you're not attending a wedding at this specific venue or even if you don't golf! It's a great place to stay. read more

Golfed there and was very disappointed. The golf course was like a swamp. They actually had sprinklers on in the middle of the fairways when we were golfing at 9 AM on a Friday not only was it a swamp, but the whole course had a swampy stench to it. The smell was actually making me and my husband sick. This was a very expensive course, poorly maintained, and the grass was so overgrown that you couldn't see your ball on some parts of the course even if it was 10 feet in front of you. I took my husband there for his birthday and it was a huge disappointment will not be going back. read more

My family and I recently had a celebration of life held at the Pala Mesa Resort and we couldn't have been happier! They exceeded our expectations in so many ways it's hard to describe it all. Starting with the pavilion everything was preset up perfectly to every detail. Given the circumstances there were some elderly people that attended which the staff happily escorted everyone that needed assistance down to the hall after the ceremony. The hall was also set up very elegantly and they were really flexible with how we wanted everything to be. Even with a large showing they were able to accommodate everyone! The food was perfect, everyone loved it. Overall it was perfect. All of the staff were great but especially Traillan. She went above and beyond setting everything up and organizing everything so it would go smoothly. I can't thank her enough! For a very emotional event, the pala Mesa resort made it special and we are extremely grateful! read more

If you're considering Pala Mesa for your wedding venue... DO IT. My husband and I just got married this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect. I can't think of a better word. The grounds are beautiful and well kept, the scenery is unbeatable. With the opulent pergola at the ceremony site, 2 massive waterfalls as backdrops, reception space was stunning with chandeliers and beautiful uplighting. Tons of locations for beautiful pictures. I could go on forever. We had guests coming up to us telling us how beautiful the venue was and how blown away they were. They said they can absolutely see why we would choose this place. Staff was phenomenal. We couldn't have asked for a better team of people to help make our day flawless. Autumn was our venue coordinator, she was so excellent communicating with us on every question we had. Immediate replies, so kind and so supportive. She had an answer for every question and solution for any "problem" we ran into. She went above and beyond to make it the wedding of our dreams. I really can't even describe how wonderful and stress free she made the experience of planning. Something that really stood out to us was that we really wanted an opulent charcuterie grazing table for cocktail hour. And when I tell you they smashed it out of the park I mean it. This thing was incredible. They went out of their way to hire a whole separate team to make it for us and make the vision come to life. It was MASSIVE. Even bigger than we thought it was going to be which completely blew us away and showed just how much it mattered to them that our vision came true. Traillan was the catering manager in charge of food and WOW. She also was so amazing. She again was so communicative and made sure everything was perfect for us. She was so kind and attentive and on top of it all. We again had MULTIPLE guests come up to us all night and say that this was the best food they've ever eaten at a wedding, and same for our rehearsal dinner. Mae was also incredible, 90% of our guests were out of town. We needed some of the older guests to be closer to the ceremony site in handicap accessible rooms and she made it happen no problem. We had to switch a few names around, add rooms, take away rooms and she took it all in stride. It was so helpful and meant so much that she went out of her way to make our guests comfortable. We also had all our guests comment on how nice the rooms were. Updated, clean, and beautiful. They also had a Bridal suite to use to get ready that was incredible, tons of space, makeup and hair vanities, floor length mirrors, refrigerator for champagne and food, bathroom. It was everything you could ever need. The whole wedding went off without a hitch. I ran into both Traillan and Autumn the day of and they were so kind and so happy for us. We constantly saw them putting in work behind the scenes helping our coordinator. Which showed just how much they cared and effort they put into each wedding. All in all this was the best wedding and wedding planning experience we could have ever dreamed of. I don't think we could have done it if not for the help, attentiveness and attention to detail of the whole staff. read more

I recently was walking this beautiful course with a friend. We were enjoying our time when we began hearing shouting. When we went to check out what was going on we saw the man who was on a white golf cart.. It seemed as though he was yelling at female not to far from us. He continued to yell profanities at the lady. Cursing at her telling her to get the F*** out of here. And it continued on for quite some time. He even continued to scream as he drove his golf cart away, passing into a tunnel nearby which made the profanities echo through the course even louder. The individual on the cart was identified by a local as Nico. We were told he is an employee at the course. I expected much better from such a esteemed place. If these are the types of people they choose to employ I definitely wouldn't choose to golf here in the future. read more

We had my parents celebrate of life service there and it was absolutely amazing! The outside pavilion is beautiful and peaceful! We were able to let off doves and butterflies off as part of the service and to end the ceremony we rang the bell. It was perfect! We then moved down to the ballroom for the reception. The staff was amazing! They had a golf cart available to help take people from the pavilion down to the hall. All of the staff was amazing: the bar tenders, the servers and Traillian who orchestrated the entire thing all went above and beyond. I truly can't say enough good things about this place and the customer service! The entire day went smooth! I can't think of one thing they could have done better! Even the food was delicious! This place is beautiful and has a great set up and they make it so easy! Traillian was so helpful and made the entire process so easy and stress free! I don't even know where to begin. I worked with two staff members for the last six months to a year to ensure that our block and event went seamless. Mae coordinated our room block and was so responsive to emails and very accommodating for any last-minute changes. She made the process for blocking rooms so easy and stress-free. Which I definitely needed during my wedding planning. Traillan, who coordinated our rehearsal brunch, made everything so easy and stress-free as well. The day of the event we just showed up and enjoyed our time. All staff members were very friendly and accommodating to all of my guests. Everyone had an amazing weekend at Pala Mesa. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The grounds were pristine. And the food and drinks were amazing at the snack shack, and the restaurant bar. I know a lot of my guests will be returning. Also the night shift lady was also nice and went above and beyond for me and let me borrow something. Only reason for the missing one star is that the pool was closed due to remodeling. We recently hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for the wedding party and welcome reception for out-of-town guests the night before my son's wedding. We worked with Traillan Suthers on all the details for these two events. With people attending from the mid-West and East Coast, we wanted everything to be super special. Traillan and her team - especially Eliza - had the room set up beautifully for us. The rehearsal dinner and welcome reception were both big hits and everyone thought the food, service, and bartending were great. When you have to plan an event remotely, not even seeing the room in advance, you have to have faith in the resort management. Traillan and the rest of the Pala Mesa team made the evening so special with all their attention to detail. I'd definitely recommend the Pala Mesa Resort for an event. All of our guests had a great stay at the Pala Mesa and the resort was helpful in guiding guests to our shuttle that took people off-site. If you're looking to golf, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! 130$ for a round of golf and the management allows a party of 9 people for one tee time. The people were wasting time, lagging and taking 30 minutes per hole with no Marshall or starter to regulate. We've all had long rounds but if you're spending 130$ for twilight, have some regulation on the compound. Nice course with good conditions but terrible management. For 130$ I won't be back but maybe a 5 1/2 hour rounds is your thing. I wish that response was true. I called the shop and did nothing. Also there was a grown man playing with them and the kids seemed to care less about playing golf and more just running around. So your points aren't completely true. And we skipped a hole saving us 45 minutes which is how long the first tee took for them, so that's why there isn't a cart over that pace but there would have been. Nice save though. read more

We reserved a wedding block here for our wedding. We were assisted by Mae Adrid and she was amazing! We had so many questions throughout the year+ of planning and she was so helpful the entire time. I requested for others that booked outside of the block to be moved closer to our building and she was able to move as many as she could (depending on their room type). I know our wedding block was loud and thankfully we were away from other guests since there are multiple buildings at the resort. Service was always good, everyone was nice! As of the resort itself: The rooms are newly renovated and beautiful, however I did find a family of ants due to leftover, dry juice(?) or something, under the alarm clock. The location was very quiet and peaceful, which I liked, however very dark to drive at night (barely any lights) and not near many restaurant (you'll need to drive at least 20mins). They do have a restaurant by the lobby but closes fairly early (I think 7:30pm?). Overall we enjoyed our stay, are very thankful for Mae. It was perfect for our wedding weekend! read more

UPDATE : the owner asked me to contact the general manager at the hotel. I just called and the general manager isn't available for a week. This place is such a scam. just checked into the Pela Mesa resort very late. Almost midnight. The first room they tried to give me was dirty. The second room they gave me had a bird inside of it. I called the front desk for almost 20 minutes before the even answered the phone. There is no manager on duty. The front desk girl is asleep at the wheel. They're telling me I can leave if I want. After I travelled over an hour from the San Diego airport. It's now almost 1 am and they can't get me a new room. The staff here is completely incompetent. I can't believe how they treat their customers when they screw up. I would avoid this place at all costs. FYI, the general manger posted her phone number 29 days ago on another review. I tried to contact her and the number is already disconnected. My credit card company will be taking over from here for me. read more

I really have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. The rooms that have been renovated, which are most of them by now we're really lovely and well acquainted. There are several wedding venues in the area including their own wedding venue, so they are a great Fallbrook option. They do need a little bit more help on their front desk, and a coffee maker in the rooms would be nice or at least to have coffee available in the lobby, (although you can go to the golfers snack bar for coffee.) Hopefully they have completed work on their pool. We didn't need it because it was November when we stayed there. But if you're looking for a hotel in the Fallbrook area or close proximity to Temecula, I would recommend this resort . Also, their wedding pavilion is absolutely gorgeous on the grounds are beautifully, kept lush and green. read more

We made Pala Mesa Resort the primary guest stay for our wedding in Fallbrook, and Mae was so accommodating and helpful all throughout the booking and planning process. She was communicative and flexible, and even managed to get everyone in our relatively large block a reasonable price for Memorial Day weekend. With the recent room renovations, our guests were incredibly comfortable, plus they were so happy to be staying here in a quiet peaceful setting close to our Fallbrook venue instead of at a hotel in Temecula and commuting 30 minutes each way. We also used the Chardonnay Suite for our day-after brunch, which the resort catered. Autumn was also extremely helpful in budgeting out our buffet-style menu given we had a fluctuating guest count. All in all, it was perfect and the setup that their team provided was absolutely beautiful and delicious (see photos!) read more
