The only thing you have to do is get your paint in the bottled containers. Little hands may need assistance with this or leave it to the adults to prep the paint dish. I really like the space in the Art Cafe. There is plenty of room between each table. It may be different with more customers (we were the only ones on this weekday visit). But even then, I think there is more plenty of space you don't have to worry bumping into someone. I find all ceramic cafes to be a bit pricey but this is something to do once in awhile. The he told us we had till the end of the week to pick them up? This is in the 13th week with no text or call. Either way, we rush down and wait for him to come help us. In the meantime someone else walks in behind us. When Chase came out, he didn't even say hi, walked right past us to the one who entered after and literally ignored us while having a conversation with a vendor (?!) Then once he was done he proceeded to rudely push about how he had text us twice. I have no clue why that means his fingers don't work to make an actual call and leave a message but there you have it. He was confrontational as i see it because we didn't even bring up the prior rudeness or insistence that he had text but I certainly had my phone ready to show him that indeed there was no text, no call, no nothing. He didn't care, barely looked and lost a couple of people who were actually considering their extremely high monthly rates. Pretty mind blowing when it's a bit over 500 bucks a month for 2 people. Yup, every month and all it includes is the space and the wheel, nothing else. The class itself was great but because of Chase, who told us he was the owner but lists here as the busines manager, we won't go back. I see another review here with the same trouble in not getting their pieces or being informed that the pieces are ready so I guess if you want to pay 50 bucks a person for the classes and do the work to make sure you get what you pay for then have at it. Great experience with my daughter, however, very expensive. And on top of that, they threw all of our stuff away without any warning. We were never told that we had 30 days to pick it up, and I have text to prove it. It would've been nice to get either a reminder text or a "last chance" text to pick up our pieces. About $100 down the drain and nothing to show for it. Now I have to break the news to my daughter that her creations have been destroyed. We will likely not be back unfortunately. read more

CR Studio 4 Ceramics

Studio website: http://www.studio4ceramics.com/about-us.html…read more The GF and I took a "paint and sip" style class at another studio in town. We came back for another session and learned they really only offered the "paint and sip" style class, and open studio was extremely expensive. We searched for another studio and found this place. Upon walking in, I knew IMMEDIATELY that this was the place where I could learn and grow quick throwing on the wheel. The owner Robin runs a tile shop by day, and then hosts monthly members for the studio by night. Everyone there has been there multiple years, with a few members being over 10 years! This place is a true community with members bring food and drink often, and always willing to help, or offer advice when solicited. Robin herself is terrific. Though she doesn't call herself a potter, she can make almost anything on the wheel, and is a true pro. She's super flexible, and willing to help. The studio monthly membership age is 18+, and there are no "classes". It's monthly, no contract, pay as you go. In your membership, you get open studio time and a full kiln shelf worth of pottery (dimensions on her website), one bisque firing and one glaze firing (she also has 16ish glazes for studio members). Total, there are 10ish wheels at the studio, and bats are also provided. For those who haven't thrown before, Robin offers a 3 pack, 1 on 1 class (1 day throwing, one day trimming, one day glazing) for $100 called "try it, you'll like it". This is instruction you literally cannot get anywhere else for under $250 just for the throwing lesson 1 on 1. Raku firings are also offered every so often, with glazes provided specifically for raku as well. She also offers community kiln firing for those who only need glaze or bisque firing. Lastly, Robin carries a variety of clay types (black, bmix, bmix with specks, speckled buff, porcelain, red) that she offers members at discounted prices. We've now been here as members for around a year, and I figured it was time to write a review!
