In the end, the reason we won't go back is because of how rude Chase was over not contacting us when our pieces were ready. They said 6 to 8 weeks but on the 13th week, after we called to find out why it was taking so long, we were rudely informed by Chase that he had "text" us twice, neither of which did we receive. The he told us we had till the end of the week to pick them up? This is in the 13th week with no text or call. Either way, we rush down and wait for him to come help us. In the meantime someone else walks in behind us. When Chase came out, he didn't even say hi, walked right past us to the one who entered after and literally ignored us while having a conversation with a vendor (?!) Then once he was done he proceeded to rudely push about how he had text us twice. I have no clue why that means his fingers don't work to make an actual call and leave a message but there you have it. He was confrontational as i see it because we didn't even bring up the prior rudeness or insistence that he had text but I certainly had my phone ready to show him that indeed there was no text, no call, no nothing. He didn't care, barely looked and lost a couple of people who were actually considering their extremely high monthly rates. Pretty mind blowing when it's a bit over 500 bucks a month for 2 people. Yup, every month and all it includes is the space and the wheel, nothing else. The class itself was great but because of Chase, who told us he was the owner but lists here as the busines manager, we won't go back. I see another review here with the same trouble in not getting their pieces or being informed that the pieces are ready so I guess if you want to pay 50 bucks a person for the classes and do the work to make sure you get what you pay for then have at it. We are going to try one of the other many pottery places close by. read more

The pottery classes here are great with different options everyday of the week. They even have a Happy Hour discounted class for beginners. They have a large selection of pieces that you can paint individually also. The studio is very spacious. This is a unique place to be an artist. read more

Found Mud Hut through instagram, and signed up for a Beginner Pottery Wheel lesson. The class was 1.5 hours long and you make 2 pieces of pottery using the wheel. At the start of class, the instructor went around the group asking whose first time it was using the pottery wheel. Since I had no experience, I was nervous, but excited to try it out! Overall I enjoyed the class, but felt like the pacing could have been managed better. We spent over an hour setting up and preparing the first piece, then once it was time to shape the piece to your liking, we quickly had to set it aside to start on the second piece. There was only about 15 minutes between starting the second piece and class being over. I really struggled with making the second piece, so ultimately I left feeling frustrated with only one bowl :( I feel discouraged to use the pottery wheel again, but would likely return to try one of the hand sculpting classes. read more

We did this last minute planning for Valentines and it was one of the best decision ever. It was a group class and i believe max of 8. The instructor was very calm and very helpful. She walked through us on the machinery and the clay and how to handle with care. Love that she was very knowledgeable about pottery and was giving us tidbits about it. I cannot recommend this place enough! They have a big and varied selection of ceramics to choose from to paint, plus a really wide array of paints to choose from. The turnaround time to getting the pieces back after glazing and firing is pretty quick - usually about a week depending on how busy they are. In addition to the paint-your-own ceramics, they also have classes on the pottery wheel and hand forming pottery. I haven't taken any of these yet, but they sound fun! The staff are all super helpful and knowledgeable too! read more

Loved my experience at Mud Hut! Everyone was super welcoming. There was a class going on and you could tell how much expertise went into it. My friend and I picked pots to paint. They provide an easy system to find paint, set up your station and all the brushes you may need. Once we were done they told us to leave everything there, which I loved because...no one likes to clean their mess haha. The owners are super down to earth, open to help and chat, and they got a really cool set up. The parking is free and it's next door to Thompson's Brewing, which makes this the perfect friends outing, date, kids event etc. read more

I love this local gem. It's such a fun place to have a date night or just make something new with your own hands. The teachers are very friendly as well as helpful. The cost is super reasonable for what you get and all the items I've made from here last. It's way better than the color me mine where you only paint but you can do that too if you want. I do recommend actually getting to make something. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. The cost covers all your items and use of tools you will need to create something special. They do different classes and have date night series of classes where the cost is for two people. They have some more kid friendly classes as well as some more advanced wheel throwing classes. It does take a little time before you get your finished product back but it's only because the process of firing them takes some time. So be patient as you may be waiting a few weeks. The parking lot is a little small but you can find more around the building. There is also a brewery Next door if you want to eat something after. They do something have coffee nights but they don't generally have any kind of food other than water. But the classes are not super long. Would definitely come back and I really enjoyed making something that will last. read more

I first took a beginner throwing class here with my mom and sister, and then later on I decided to get a studio membership. Everyone is super welcoming supportive- from fellow members to the staff!! The studio owner Chase is very kindhearted and always willing to help with any questions you have. All of the instructors are amazing, though, if you wanted to walk in and paint or take a class for fun. My favorite thing about this studio is how it isn't competitive but instead encouraging with each other's art! It's a judgement free zone, which I think is so special with an art form that's a bit intimidating at first. I was looking for a chill but fun class to take my sister to for her birthday and the beginner pottery class didn't disappoint! The price was great for the time you're spending and learning! I truly felt like after a long time I got my moneys worth since everything is crazily priced due to inflation! Our instructor was SO awesome and knowledgeable. He didn't make us feel dumb for messing up, ripping the clay (which definitely happened) or having to help us when we asked questions! Such a cool place in the most random spot of a large building. Has been open now for a year. The pottery wheel class was a ton of fun. Everyone in the class was very friendly Brian hosted an informative and engaging workshop. You start with the basics and essentials are provided. Make sure you bring an outfit you don't mind getting clay residue on. There is a sink you can rinse off at with paper towels. The class is 1 hr and 30 minutes. Plenty of parking. You can also get 20% off your next visit when you subscribe to their texts. They call you when your piece is ready and you come back to pick up. Mud Hut Pottery Studio is a great way to celebrate a Birthday. We had my daughter's 30th birthday celebration there today. They have a great room available to paint (or create with clay) and enjoy with friends. It was peaceful and private. Manny that works there took great care of our needs, was super helpful and friendly. He even helped us put some decorations out . We had pizza delivered and brought some cupcakes. My daughter had a great time and it was super easy to execute while enjoying time with her peers and some family. We had a party of 10 but they can hold up to 40 when I asked. This was a no brainer for something different and fun to do. Trish and Chase the owners were welcoming and organized setting it up when I booked. My first time in, I got to paint a heart for Valentine's Day and my second time in, I was able to participate in their Sunday Morning Mug making. It was so much fun painting my heart plate. Definitely a great way to get some experience painting on something you get to take home and enjoy. I believe it's food safe too ! Love this place! I did have one piece that had a green paint smudge on it that was not supposed to. I wasn't even using green paint. I'm guessing one of the workers had paint on their hands when moving the pieces. This was frustrating because I spent 3.5hrs making it, and wished the employees had been more careful. They weren't sure if there was any way to fix it without damaging the piece, so we agreed that I could come in and remake it, which would be compensated. When I picked up my final corrected piece, the owner, Chase, allowed me to keep the original one I'd made and the new one. I GREATLY appreciate this kind of customer service, especially given the amount of time spent to make each piece and that the mistake was on their end. While I can't get that time back, I'm grateful they made it right by allowing me to remake it and keep both of my pieces. Since finding out about this place, I have now made 5 pieces within 1 month. Because of how well this whole situation was handled, I am pleased to say I will continue doing business there. Thank you so much Chase! read more

My partner and I signed up for the monthly membership and it was a wonderful experience! The member studio is spacious and kept clean. The workers are very friendly and was always more than willing to answer questions about firing schedules and member classes. Community here is nothing but inviting and helpful! I took the 2 hour beginner wheel throwing and painting class for $75. The price is certainly much better than other beginner wheel throwing workshops I've seen online, especially because you get to make and decorate two pieces with slip. I took ceramics for one year in high school (like 5 years ago) and was really missing the wheel throwing experience, so I registered for this workshop and thought this would be a good way to refresh my technique. However, the only reason I (and two other people in my class) were able to make a functional vessel is because we had some previous ceramics experience. The instructor offered little help (supposedly in accordance with their "hands-off policy" intended to prioritize student independence or whatever) and gave vague, incomplete instructions, especially for centering---the most crucial and foundational step of the entire process. Equally incomplete were the instructions for pulling the walls of the pot. When people did ask for help, the instructor basically just said "okay, I can fix it for you, do you want me to do that?" and took over. I also did not appreciate the fact that we only had 2 small balls of clay to work with, for if you messed up (which is practically guaranteed for the total beginners that this class is intended for), you were not given a second chance. This is probably because the studio doesn't seem to have a reclaim system and instead just throws away all the discarded clay, which is both wasteful and betrays the standard process that practically all ceramic studios/ artists follow. Overall, I personally had a decent experience and enjoyed reliving my glory days on the wheel as a washed up former novice high school potter, but I would only recommend this workshop to others with a similar level of experience. You need at least some sort of previous wheel throwing foundation, because the instructor does not provide it adequately. read more
