Everything is disinfected with bleach after each use, so it is really clean :) you have to take a 4 week class first to learn the studio before you can do studio time. I've been doing ceramics with Christine the owner for the past 3 1/2 years. It's made all the difference in my life. As soon as I turn into the parking lot, my blood pressure drops and I know I'm going to have a really great three hours. I took a beginner's pottery class here in July of 2021 with Christine, the owner, and she was an incredibly belittling and impatient teacher. I've been sitting on this review for awhile, contemplating whether or not I should even write one, but since this experience continues to bother me years down the line, I decided it would be worth it to finally press send. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for a constructive and kind learning environment. You won't get much compassion here if you're not skilled in the art already, and expect Christine to say some backhanded comments and use a belittling tone towards you if you're confused or struggling with something. You'd think a beginner's class would be kind to beginners, but that's not something Christine gets. There's also very little teaching involved for a beginners class--Christine just walks the class through a concept once and you're left to do it on your own with little guidance and support for the rest of the hour. Sadly, this experience has discouraged me from pursuing pottery as a hobby. What I thought would be a fun class instead ended up being something I dreaded every week. I hope I pick pottery up again, and I think I will someday, but it will not be because of this place or Christine. Save your energy and take your money somewhere kinder. read more

My heart aches as I recount my experience with the teach and owner of ceramic&artstudio, Christine. I am a child to be clear, a 16 year old who just turned 16 this March. During a recent class on Tuesday March 28, 2023, I was belittled and made to feel stupid for asking a simple question. Even though I'm a beginner, she accused me of being "self-absorbed" and "not paying attention." When I couldn't hold back my tears, she told me to "stop crying because it's bad for business" and humiliated me in front of others saying that I couldn't take criticism. Her reasoning for calling me self absorbed was because I ask to many questions. She even exclaimed "you're like what? 14 and acting this way???" I corrected her saying I'm 16 and she had this face where she looked so appalled. Maybe I'm a needier and slower learner but I am not self absorbed for wanting help!! No one is!! I was absolutely hysterical and my lungs were trying to take in air rapidly but my throat wasn't opening fast enough, I was hyperventilating. My panic attack left me feeling helpless, embarrassed, and overwhelmed. I had to step out of class because I felt unsafe continuing to cry in the same space as Christine. I was crying for almost an 1hr on the ground outside with a crisis hotline counsler. I sent an email that night detailing my feelings and experience of the incident to Christine. She replied by doubling down and refunding my father's money with the message that we should cut off all contact. And when my parents tried to address her behavior through a call, she hung up on them. Moments later, Christine called back and once again doubled down on her hurtful treatment of me. Even adding in that she believes I'm a bad and disliked student but, she's a great teacher. As a young student, a child, and a human, I expected to be treated with kindness and respect, but Christine's cruel behavior has left me feeling distressed and hopeless. I don't understand why she singled me out after I saw so many positive reviews on her. She seems to have built up this list of things she disliked about me. How she didn't like that I was late to class sometimes, that I asked her too many questions, that I once played a video about centering in pottery during class, etc. All small resolvable things she's never even once tried to communicate to me or my parents. From my experience it's clear that she does not have the temperament, emotional intelligence, or the patience to teach children who are needier than a rock. INCREDIBLE experience!!! We booked a private pottery wheel class for our anniversary and I literally cannot stop talking about it to everyone! Christine is an amazing instructor and both my husband and I were able to create pieces we were proud of (with ZERO experience before walking in). The pricing is very reasonable. The duration of the private lesson was perfect (2 hours) - we were able to make 3 pieces each after watching a live demo. Christine was very hands on for the first 2 pieces and then by the 3rd piece sat back to let us see what we could do on our own. I highly recommend checking this place out. They also offer month long classes with a session each week. I'm considering doing that next because I enjoyed the private lesson so much. I signed up for my first class back in August, and have re-signed up every month since . I find ceramics to be very therapeutic and relaxing. I find that the owner Christine is able to work with a variety of skill levels and personalities. Some students require more hands on instruction than others ,and Christine is very patient and treats every skill level the same. I don't like a lot of attention but if she sees me struggling she wont hesitate to suggest a better way to do something. So she doesn't make you feel like a beginning student every time you make a mistake, or have a question. I plan on continuing my studies under Christine for as long as I can, or until she gets tired of me in her class. I suggest everyone at least try ceramics once and you'll be hooked. read more

I have terrible depression and anxiety issues, since going to this studio i finally have a release. I also am physically disabled due to 5 back surgeries and a total hip replacement and am a chronic pain sufferer since 2000. Christine is always so understanding and helpful. The review left by Jenny H was a trigger piece for me mainly due to the fact that i was there that day and 16 is not a child . 11 is a child and i have experience many fantastic conversations and seen her grow artistically so much under Christines tutelage. As to Jenny H, her review was filled with so many lies that it literally took me a week to address it without having to taking anxiety meds. Due to all her hateful lies. When i was 16, i was living on my own, that was the 70s but for a 16 year old to consider herself a child , well that really perturbed me, 2 more years and this person can vote and that freaks me out besides all her lies. Christine teaches real children, teenagers, and disabled youth and they have been her students for years . Besides that, i have been going through some really hard times since starting again after 15 years and dealing with my pain issues. It has been so bad that i was thinking about stopping throwing pottery, which would leave such a hole in me. This is some thing that has caused me terrible depression etc. The other day at class Christine saw i was struggling and she was giving me tips, very tactfully since she does know that i have thrown previously for years, she finally asked me a question about my throwing technique, made a suggestion and keft it to me to try it. Well i did try it and realized i was doing something i never used to do and once i changed my technique it all came back to me. There are no words to describe how wonderful it felt and how much i look forward to go back to studio and continue throwing thr right way. Alright people, this was such a break through it has effected my whole life positively, it has effected me mentally and physically positively, i have a smile everyday knowing i can throw like i used to and that ceramics has become my release ans happy place again. I don't remember if Jenny H let everyone that her parents money was returned and she could have gotten her items. We hosted my Sister's 30th Birthday here and it was amazing. The owner was so helpful and patient answering all my questions. Right when we arrived we were greeted and explained how things work. It was a surprise party and started exactly as planned It was so simple and easy we had 6 kids painting from ages 2 to 15 years old. And a total of 6 Adults there as well. Each of us got to choose from a large selection of ceramic piece ranging in price range. (All very reasonable). We were a large group so we decided on the party pack! Im so Glad we did.
