My unfinished pottery pieces
Jenny H.

My heart aches as I recount my experience with the teach and owner of ceramic&artstudio, Christine. I am a child to be clear, a 16 year old who just turned 16 this March. During a recent class on Tuesday March 28, 2023, I was belittled and made to feel stupid for asking a simple question. Even though I'm a beginner, she accused me of being "self-absorbed" and "not paying attention." When I couldn't hold back my tears, she told me to "stop crying because it's bad for business" and humiliated me in front of others saying that I couldn't take criticism. Her reasoning for calling me self absorbed was because I ask to many questions. She even exclaimed "you're like what? 14 and acting this way???" I corrected her saying I'm 16 and she had this face where she looked so appalled. Maybe I'm a needier and slower learner but I am not self absorbed for wanting help!! No one is!! I was absolutely hysterical and my lungs were trying to take in air rapidly but my throat wasn't opening fast enough, I was hyperventilating. My panic attack left me feeling helpless, embarrassed, and overwhelmed. I had to step out of class because I felt unsafe continuing to cry in the same space as Christine. I was crying for almost an 1hr on the ground outside with a crisis hotline counsler. I sent an email that night detailing my feelings and experience of the incident to Christine. She replied by doubling down and refunding my father's money with the message that we should cut off all contact. And when my parents tried to address her behavior through a call, she hung up on them. Moments later, Christine called back and once again doubled down on her hurtful treatment of me. Even adding in that she believes I'm a bad and disliked student but, she's a great teacher. As a young student, a child, and a human, I expected to be treated with kindness and respect, but Christine's cruel behavior has left me feeling distressed and hopeless. I don't understand why she singled me out after I saw so many positive reviews on her. She seems to have built up this list of things she disliked about me. How she didn't like that I was late to class sometimes, that I asked her too many questions, that I once played a video about centering in pottery during class, etc. All small resolvable things she's never even once tried to communicate to me or my parents. From my experience it's clear that she does not have the temperament, emotional intelligence, or the patience to teach children who are needier than a rock. Pictures is showing the pieces I made in her class during the 4 weeks. I am unable to finish those pieces because Christine has chosen to cut me off.

INCREDIBLE experience!!! We booked a private pottery wheel class for our anniversary and I literally cannot stop talking about it to everyone! Christine is an amazing instructor and both my husband and I were able to create pieces we were proud of (with ZERO experience before walking in). The pricing is very reasonable. The duration of the private lesson was perfect (2 hours) - we were able to make 3 pieces each after watching a live demo. Christine was very hands on for the first 2 pieces and then by the 3rd piece sat back to let us see what we could do on our own. I highly recommend checking this place out. They also offer month long classes with a session each week. I'm considering doing that next because I enjoyed the private lesson so much. Great experience for date night, girls night, small group outing, or just to find a new hobby!

Kiddo is an establishment which prides itself in building strong foundational music education. They don't just want to show kids how to use musical instruments. Their mission runs deeper than that. They foster a profound love and appreciation of music at the fundamental level. Because of Kiddo, my children have a proper musical education which informs many parts of their lives. The front desk staff of Kiddo is so kind and professional and Miss Ashley, the owner, has selected an impressive faculty of teachers and artists who are respectful of the children and excellent at communicating with them. My middle child was born with a natural singing ability but her teachers, Miss Rudie and Miss Vicky, have helped her develop and protect her voice, ensuring she can use and enjoy it well into her later years. She has performed in competitions and recently did an open mic event at another music school and it was clear that her excellent training set her apart from the children of that school. Kiddo takes the abilities of every child seriously and gives them an enduring musical foundation. My youngest and eldest take piano lessons with Miss Fanny who is a warm and exceptionally talented teacher who has brought out the best in my kids. They also have a weekend art program which two of my children are enrolled in. It is a class they look forward to every week and never want to miss. I'm grateful Kiddo, a highly professional and substantial music and art school, exists in our community. Money and time well spent.

I really like working there .they offer a free trial lesson as well . Ask for Mr. Daleread more

I end up feeling more confident with using the tools, with knowing how to avoid accidents. Dennis makes the class environment a comfortable and nice place to hang out. There's creative energy all about. I look forward to going each week and seeing what projects the other students are up to or chatting with him. He's not only a great instructor but also so easy and friendly to talk to! Dennis' enthusiasm for woodworking and old tools will quickly rub off on you. It's a great balance between a structured class curriculum and freedom to customize your projects. I've since discovered that going to the lumber yard and choosing woods feels a little like being a kid in a candy store. It's so much fun to do something hands on and design / build your own furniture. I highly recommend the Wood Work Shop to anyone looking up to pick up woodworking.

If you want to learn woodworking, this is a great place to do it. The shop has pretty much every…read moretool you need and an instructor who's passionate about the craft. During my time here, Dennis showed me how to make a cutting board, a box, a mallet, and a bowel. He also took the time to answer questions I had about woodworking, beyond the specific project I'd be working on. Because people's schedules are always different, many people in the class are working on things that are different from you or are on a different stage. To be successful in the class it's good to always have a plan about what you're going to be doing for the day BEFORE you come to class. The reason I say before is because if you have a busy class, it can be challenging to get the instructor's attention without interrupting someone else. That being said, Dennis absolutely tries his best to give everyone a good amount of time with him and is very approachable. He will go above and beyond to help make sure you know what you should be doing and how to do it. Some days are busier than others so work with Dennis to see which day to come in is right for you (Wednesdays seem to be pretty empty at the time of posting this)
