His shop has been a…read morelovely place to get comfortable with woodworking and gain foundational knowledge, like learning how to calculate / measure correctly, how to use the tools, choosing appropriate woods, etc. I've appreciated that he puts a lot of emphasis on safety and proper technique when using the machinery. I end up feeling more confident with using the tools, with knowing how to avoid accidents. Dennis makes the class environment a comfortable and nice place to hang out. There's creative energy all about. I look forward to going each week and seeing what projects the other students are up to or chatting with him. He's not only a great instructor but also so easy and friendly to talk to! Dennis' enthusiasm for woodworking and old tools will quickly rub off on you. It's a great balance between a structured class curriculum and freedom to customize your projects. I've since discovered that going to the lumber yard and choosing woods feels a little like being a kid in a candy store. It's so much fun to do something hands on and design / build your own furniture. I highly recommend the Wood Work Shop to anyone looking up to pick up woodworking.

When we arrived a couple of us were told by the instructor, Kim that we had purchased the wrong yarn. Not knowing anything about yarn, I told her that I bought " chunky " yarn as mentioned on the event page. She said it would not be possible to make the craft with that yarn. An attendee of the class had an extra skein and was nice enough to sell it to me. My partner used that one while I tried to make the most of the situation and used the yarn I bought. It was impossible, so I ate my snacks and watched as everyone else made their pumpkin. I could see that most people were confused on what to do and most left without a completed craft. Even the instructor had to unravel her pumpkin and start over. We were so excited to learn a new hobby but left deeply disappointed.

There's a parents/family waiting room and you can watch the kids work. Every kid gets their own personal station, and Miss Kathy is awesome. She lets the kids go at their own pace and work on what they choose to work on, so they're not all doing the exact same thing. She checked in with our son often as he was probably the youngest kid in there, which really helped him to feel more comfortable. Some of the older kids who have been going for awhile do some amazing work, too. We will definitely be continuing in the Summer time and next school semester.

But with Obi Art, the teachers are not only highly skilled/credentials at teaching you proper techniques of drawing and appreciate your own personal unique artistic talents; but they instill or depart proper shading techniques, how to hold a pencil efficiently, hand strength and personality or attitude of each child. At 4 years old, this was my daughter's first experience in a schooling environment away from her parents, so needless to say I was a bit nervous to leave her. But the smile on her face when I picked her up the first day, and the speed with which she picked up the skills of acting and modeling during the weeks that followed spoke volumes about her teacher, Miss Daisy's, teaching abilities. She would always tell me that Miss Daisy was very sweet and she learned a lot from her. Miss Daisy was great at keeping the children engaged despite their youthful attention spans. She was able to show my child her potential in a very loving way, creating an up building and positive environment for the kids and, consequently, my daughter has thrived in her acting abilities in a very short amount of time. She also did a great job keeping us parents involved and informed as to the homework assignments and needs for the program. She was readily available whenever I called or texted her, which showed that she cares a lot for her students and is committed to doing her utmost for them. I know some parents might not like the amount for the five classes but I would advise all future participants and parents to understand that all training, classes, and or other coaching is an investment. My daughter was excited to learn more and if nothing more my daughter strengthened her confidence and excitement for this acting/modeling journey.
