Pottery paint night with the family

A new spot to paint pottery in Palm Springs. We enjoyed having a large variety of pottery and the color palette options on point. Thank you Fire up Pottery for having a friendly and cozy shop to create good memories with my family.

Gretchen also did a fantastic job of asking thoughtful questions to give him the space to explore his creativity, while still offering support. It was such a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

It was a time our life was disrupted and things were very hard for my son. He loves art and we tried 29PCC in hopes it would bring him joy and it brought us so much more. We are now living much farther away but make the 1.5 hr trip back for art class when we can. Just last night my son said, "Mommy, I miss Ms. Gretchen!" And I figured it was time to leave a review! Ms. Gretchen has a beautiful way of letting him be him, fully. My son is level 1 autistic, plus very shy at times because of lack of socialization due to a rare disease that keeps him in the house a lot. But when with Ms. Gretchen, none of behaviors are challenging, none of his behaviors need to be adapted - she is so loving and accepting in a way that allows him to feel cared for amd safe. To love and care from a distance in the way that she does is such a strong quiet power and we are grateful to know and to have the opportunity to continue returning to 29 Palms Creative Center. Also, the entire place is a gorgeous adventure. I find something new and delightful to look at every time we go. Forever grateful

Horrible customer service and absolute scam…read more My fiancé and I came here for the first time in June for our engagement because we wanted to make a memorable piece. The staff told us they would call or text when it was ready. They never called or texted. To be honest we ended up forgetting about it because we had other important things going on for our engagement that day. I ended up remembering about Painted Earth and thought it would be a fun Christmas gift for my family of 8. So I went in to buy a gift card or prepay for the experience while also asking if I could pickup the piece my fiancé and I made. I got the news they threw it out. As unfortunate as that was, I asked if I could at least get a refund for the piece, which the employee said she couldn't and that her manager would contact me within a week. So I got a call today from the manager stating that it was my responsibility to pickup and that they sent 3 texts. I checked my phone for texts and there was absolutely nothing sent to me. She said she could give me $10 but not a refund... I can tell the management here lacks intelligence. Get this, you just lost out on the sale of 8 pieces that would had been paid for with my family, and you lost 8 potential long term customers, all because you could not do what was right due to your faulty SMS system or lies that you texted. Maybe try picking up the phone and calling/leaving a VM next time too. But I'm sure you'll respond to this and lie that you did that too. I will ensure I let my family, friends, and people I meet know to avoid Painted Earth moving forward.

This shop is next to the Stationary store I came up to visit. Beautiful pottery by local Artisans. I was welcomed in by one of the shops owners who promptly asked me if I was there for the Mayor's Birthday... Max is his name and he is a beautiful Golden Retriever, sadly I was unaware of such an occasion but it is duly noted for next year. Gorgeous mugs, bowls and plates are here. If you are like me and prefer one-of-a-kind service ware, make your way up the mountain and peruse their offerings. I got this neat garlic grater that is so beautiful just grate the Garlic and then pour the olive oil into the same dish Voilà your good to go! They also offer pottery classes here as well. One item I wanted to purchase but refrained was the candle that had the scent of rain after it's initial descent on the earth Petrichor - there were 2 choices one with pine forest scent and one with wild flowers... they come in lovely pottery urns (not very large). You walk in and the employee will give you a run down on the process. If you want to take your ceramic home the same day, you can use acrylic paint, if you don't mind waiting you can choose to glaze it and there is a $5 firing fee. We chose to do glaze and wait a 1-2 weeks and they texted us when it was ready. (Only took a week) In terms of inventory, they have cute Knick knack ceramics you can make or kitchenware like plates, bowls, coasters, etc. I also saw people painting canvases so you really do have a lot of options if you're looking for a fun craft day. Pro tip: do multiple layers if you're gonna do glaze. I'd recommend at least 3, but 4 or 5 if you have the time.

There are no bathrooms and you would need to walk over to use Target's. Mckenna was working the cafe when we came in. She's only one person but quite knowledgeable about the two paints offered - acrylic and glaze. Acrylic paint can be taken home same day. They apply a clear coat finishing spray and it will dry same day but may take a few hours. Anything with this paint would not be safe to eat/drink on if you get a plate/cup. Glaze will need 3 layers and would be an additional week to 2. When you paint it, it will look a bit chalkier but with the glaze, will turn shiny. There is a $5 firing fee. I believe this is okay to eat or drink after they glaze it. You could first choose which piece you want to paint, could be a cup/plate/dish or a figure. Pricing fluctuates depending on inventory. Ceramic pieces prices range from $15.99 to $50.00. They also offer canvas painting which prices range from $15.00 to $23.00. It's perfect to just paint and let your creative side come out. We enjoyed our time here painting. We also saw a few others come in either for date time or family time. One family was clever in that they had several kids, so they had each kid paint a teacup. If you don't finish or want to come back another time, you can always leave your piece with them and return to continue painting. You will need to pay though so they have your number on file to contact you (if you are getting it glazed) and also for you to resume your painting piece there. My girlfriend who was visiting, enjoyed our time here as we caught up talking and chatting while painting our shells. She had to do hers acrylic as she had to fly back to NY the next day. We ended up staying close to closing hours, so Mckenna helped do a quick spray - put it in a box for it to dry (due to the fumes) and let her take a picture of the spray to give it another layer when she went back. I did mine with glaze and got a text message it was ready a week and two days that it was ready for pick up. Very satisfied with our visit here and may come again.
