In a creative mood? Head on over here! Fun place to spend a couple hours painting ceramics. After you paint, they glaze it and it's usually ready the very next day for pickup (convenient for tourists). Nice, helpful staff work here. Pet friendly - it was so nice to be able to bring my pup! Love my art piece and will remember the experience for years to come. Thanks!

Score: 10/10 Buzzwords: creative crafts, beautiful designs, abundant colors and brushes My girlfriend and I have been itching to do a ceramic paint night however, the insane price tag at places like Color-Me-Mine back in LA have been a complete turnoff and the biggest barrier to entry for us. This art studio cultivates such a creative and playful atmosphere perfect for all age ranges, from kids to grown @$$ adults. The foam jigsaw flooring lends itself nicely to a playful yet creative mood and the large round tables and ample sunlight optimize the environment. Having taken ceramics back in highschool, small thin brushes are worth their weight in gold as they help you get into the fine details of your craft. Luckily, this studio has an abundance of brushes of all sizes to choose from and encourage you to use as many brushes as needed for your art creation. Big ups for that. Overall, this definitely a must-try experience if you're visiting Idyllwild for the first time. The price and wide selection of ceramics to choose from makes for such an enjoyable experience in which, before you know it, 2 hours had passed by. Shoutout to Fiona who made for such authentic and great conversation. Her kindness and willingness to help is like a breath of fresh air coming from LA where it's just go-go-go. See below for pics of Jan the Llama and Swagimus Prime. ;)

    Lots of ceramics to paint.

Awesome ceramic painting shop where we painted ceramic and it was fired for a glossy finish. We were up here for a weekend and decided to stop in and had so much fun. They have a great selection of ceramics to paint, brushed, paint, stencils and some other alterative markings for the ceramic. Super friendly staff and very organized for a busy, small town shop. We will stop by here again depending on how busy it is.

This place will remind you of color me mine. Where To start, located in Idyllwild, on the 2nd level of the shopping center, is where you'll find this shop. It's across the street from the Red Kettle. Plenty to chose from and varies in price. I seen some items as low as 6 bucks and as high as 25. Really cute items. Lots of paint colors to choose from. Be careful with the colors you pick. Just because it looks light blue when it's cured it'll be a darker blue. They have small tiles underneath the paint color so you can see what the finished color will look like. I really enjoyed painting here. The reason for the 3 stars, my husband made an appointment for 3 pm. When we entered it was packed with several tables on reserve. We thought oh great, they reserved a table. Nope. It was for a party of 15. We had to find our own table and lucky for us 2 people got up to leave otherwise we would not have gotten one. Also, the girl that helped us just said to pick something and have a seat. She didn't say to us that she would bring us everything we needed to paint so she got mad at us for already having paint and brushes on our table when she came to us this was only AFTER helping the party of 15. Mind you we cane before that large party. Not to mentioned she didn't tell us it was $2.50 every 15 min you stay painting your item. My friend overheard her telling someone else so at that point we kind of rushed. So after an hour and 15 for me and an hour for her we paid $55 bucks which isn't too bad but I wanted to give my item a bit more detail. If you're there for the weekend, I highly recommend you go there either Friday or Saturday and pick up your item the next day. It takes 24 hours to curate. Don't got the time, they can ship to your home.

How much fun is this? Zara, the owner since April 2019, could not be more kind or helpful. Come on vacation and then make an art piece - cup, ornament, vase, lots of choices. Helpful instruction. Wonderful vibe. Just do it!

Here's a box of her toys she keeps for visiting kiddos!

What an experience! We're "way too old for art" right!? Naaah! Zara, the new owner, is such a joy and had such passion for art and children. Ignore the older reviews regarding children. She'll come around, give tips and pointers and makes the experience so much fun. We came for a 30-something birthday party, brought my 3 year old and had a large group of about 8 people. My son really enjoyed all the "extras" - she has toys, puzzles and play doh for days. At the end of our time there, she told him to keep a few, he was ecstatic! There's even a service for a small fee, they will paint the "eyes" on any creatures you get. Awesome! Also, bonus, bring your own wine! She provides the glasses. Definitely coming back. Had a great afternoon beating the heat in Idyllwild. There's a lot of cute stores nearby so you can meander between coats drying. ;)

This amazing gem needs YOUR HELP- been in Idyllwild for 24 years - newest owner took over in the last 2 years! Between the horrible fires, massive local road construction and the Covid-19 shut down she is at risk of losing this amazing place! My daughter and I visited this past weekend and we painted our little hearts out. We could have been there for hours as it was so fun picking from the many pieces she has available- incredibly reasonable pricing - all supplies: paint, brushes, etc provided. The new owner is gracious and accommodating- we absolutely loved it! Please visit - paint & keep her in business!!!!

This was our second time painting ceramics here and it's always a pleasant experience. It's a great way to forget about problems and just focus on colors and being in the moment. Zara, the owner, just installed air conditioning so it was nice and cool too! We'll be back again soon!

This sweet paint-your-pottery studio is delightful!! My husband and I got to be kids again, lost in painting and creating and playing. The owner, Zara, is so kind and helpful. With California officially reopened (for the moment at least) all of the tables were occupied with parents, kids, families, and couples like us, having a relaxing SoCal mountain experience. I'd recommend this establishment to anyone!

Just a small sample of the different kind of creative things you can choose from

You walk in and the employee will give you a run down on the process. If you want to take your ceramic home the same day, you can use acrylic paint, if you don't mind waiting you can choose to glaze it and there is a $5 firing fee. We chose to do glaze and wait a 1-2 weeks and they texted us when it was ready. (Only took a week) In terms of inventory, they have cute Knick knack ceramics you can make or kitchenware like plates, bowls, coasters, etc. I also saw people painting canvases so you really do have a lot of options if you're looking for a fun craft day. Pro tip: do multiple layers if you're gonna do glaze. I'd recommend at least 3, but 4 or 5 if you have the time.

There are no bathrooms and you would need to walk over to use Target's. Mckenna was working the cafe when we came in. She's only one person but quite knowledgeable about the two paints offered - acrylic and glaze. Acrylic paint can be taken home same day. They apply a clear coat finishing spray and it will dry same day but may take a few hours. Anything with this paint would not be safe to eat/drink on if you get a plate/cup. Glaze will need 3 layers and would be an additional week to 2. When you paint it, it will look a bit chalkier but with the glaze, will turn shiny. There is a $5 firing fee. I believe this is okay to eat or drink after they glaze it. You could first choose which piece you want to paint, could be a cup/plate/dish or a figure. Pricing fluctuates depending on inventory. Ceramic pieces prices range from $15.99 to $50.00. They also offer canvas painting which prices range from $15.00 to $23.00. It's perfect to just paint and let your creative side come out. We enjoyed our time here painting. We also saw a few others come in either for date time or family time. One family was clever in that they had several kids, so they had each kid paint a teacup. If you don't finish or want to come back another time, you can always leave your piece with them and return to continue painting. You will need to pay though so they have your number on file to contact you (if you are getting it glazed) and also for you to resume your painting piece there. My girlfriend who was visiting, enjoyed our time here as we caught up talking and chatting while painting our shells. She had to do hers acrylic as she had to fly back to NY the next day. We ended up staying close to closing hours, so Mckenna helped do a quick spray - put it in a box for it to dry (due to the fumes) and let her take a picture of the spray to give it another layer when she went back. I did mine with glaze and got a text message it was ready a week and two days that it was ready for pick up. Very satisfied with our visit here and may come again.
