I'm just spitting out some poetry.

I've stumbled upon the little gem in the desert. My first time was at a Tommy Castro & The Painkillers show, with Deanna Bogart. Fantastic experience, leading me to the open mic night... so many great performers making their impact known. I spoke some poetry, and will hope to provide some artwork for their rising artist's exhibit. If you can go, I advise it without question. They teach a slew of classes as well.

This is our makeshift studio in our family room. We will share pictures once glazed. We will give out the master pieces at Thanksgiving

My birthday was November and I wanted to host a ceramic painting party for my family. We also wanted our grandson to gain experience painting and making ceramics. We arrived late Saturday with the hope that we could bring a kit home with an art supply kit. The staff was wonderful! Helpful! Inviting and encouraging, we got lost following the GPS. So call for directions. We were very impressed with the studio. We plan to host more parties in the future.

For my 60th birthday at the beginning of April, I had my family of 8 adults and 2 little ones. I racked my brain to come up with an event that would engage everyone and called the studio. Because of Covid we couldn't all fit but they suggested I bring home the art box. It was filled with paint, brushes and everything we needed. We picked out 10 coffee cups and everyone picked what they wanted. I also ordered (cheap from Amazon) black aprons and plastic drop clothes. We sat around the dining room table and painted for three hours. It was awesome to have the ability to talk, eat and use the bathroom. Everyone had a great time and our cups look fantastic. I highly recommend this event for family or friends.

Old Town Artisan Studios "Leland Gallery" showing art by "BigMike" called Palm "Springs Love Story Abstracts

Old Town La Quinta Artisan Studios is an amazing art experience. I discovered last weekend. They now are showing in their "Leland Art Gallery" "Palm Springs Love Story Abstracts" by "Big Mike" that are incredible. From 3-5 each day you can meet the artist, view his work, and even explore the possibility of him creating a special piece of art for you. The ceramic pieces of art that surround his work are truly one of kind. You can make an appointment to meet with Mike which I like since I wanted to bring my husband back to see his work. This artisan village is peaceful, offers classes that I want to try and even has a great gift shop. I am so glad I found this place after going to the Old Town farmers market. I think the classes would be great fun for groups of family , friends or even a bachlorette party.

Super fun outing for bachelorette party! We had group of 5 women and I really wanted to do something different than the usual (but still fun) paint and wine classes that are popular. I called up spoke to Kristi who was a sweetheart helping me figure out a class that would work for us. We ended up choosing glass fusion class, and it was about $40 per girl. 4 of us made pendants for necklaces and one made a magnet (she will clue magnet on later). We had so much fun considering it was something new and exciting and haven't done it before. Our instructor was nice guy, sorry don't remember his name as this was end of September. The ladies working reception and booking were lovely! ALSO: they have a beautiful patio under trees where you can bring your own wine and nibbles to sit out and enjoy the afternoon. They have a fridge to hold stuff for you. FANTASTIC OUTING! Thank you so much!!

My First Review... and boy is it long! ..... Ready? This review is based on two different classes/instructors. (1) The most recent class I tried was a private Glass Infused Class, taught by Stephen. I was inspired to book a session with him, after a friend of mine showed me, one of the stunning glass pieces she created in his class. So off we went, thirteen girlfriends and myself, venturing out to a different kind of ladies night out. Despite all the distractions that can be expected in a room filled with women, Stephen was able to keep us focused and guided each and every one of us, in completing our pieces. The moments in which we found ourselves frustrated, Stephen would dive in and help us out. We were fortunate to also have Stefania stay & help out for a bit. She helped many of us, who let's just say are not artistically inclined. Having an artist eyes such as both of the instructors made the process of creating much easier for all of us. Stephen, met & exceeded all of our requests... and believe me we had several (hearts please.) That being said, we were all happy with our creations (pendants, rings, soap dishes, key chains, etc) and I can't wait to see the final outcome of our pieces! ----------------------------------------------------- (2) The first class that started it all for me, was the Beginners Ceramic Class, taught by Stefania. I absolutely loved the beginners ceramic class! I was amazed at what I was able to create in such a short period of time. When I say 'short period of time,' I mean within ONE DAY! ;) Stefania has such a calm, nurturing spirit about her. She took her time to guide us through all stages of the lesson at hand. I truly enjoyed her class and meeting the rest of her well seasoned students who are all just as kind and sweet as she is. No matter what class you take, you will walk out with a smile. ;) --------------------------------------------------- Overall Opinion Of The Studio I honestly feel what makes this studio, so incredible, are the teachers. They take their craft seriously and they truly want you to be able to gain knowledge in the creative process. Despite seeing them juggle a million and one things, they are always beyond patient, kind and understanding. I really don't know how they do it. A special thank you, goes out to Stephen & Stefania. I learned so much from the both of you. The studio and students are lucky to have true artists such as yourselves. The both of you, truly have a wealth of knowledge to share and you're each a valuable, resourceful gift to the community. ----------------------------------------------------- Suggestions for the Studio (A) The teachers/instructors, definitely need an assistant or more staff. I always see them running around multi tasking. By ensuring the instructors/teachers are well staffed, they will be able to fully focus on the students. By doing so, I feel the students would get so much more out of the classes. This is especially true for groups of eight and up. *** I would hate to see such skilled artists/teachers burn out, for they are what makes the studio come alive. (B) I would love to see the studio offer an Adult Sculpture class in the evening. I would sooooo love to take this class. However, like most individuals I work during the day, which means I can't experience the 1-3pm class. As soon as you open up an evening class, I will sign up in a heart beat!

When I arrived, it looks like the event was going on during regular business hours open to the public and not private which made it difficult to tell who was participating in the actual event. Since it was my first time there, I thought the staff would give me a brief rundown after checking in and paying... instead, I was left to figure it out until I finally had to ask what's the protocol here. That rubbed me the wrong way! I also noticed the staff had their friends there too and it was a distraction instead of staff being attentive to customers especially new ones. Another staff came in a bit later and started to interact with us and provided the information I wanted to hear from the very start. She seemed more seasoned than the other staff I encountered earlier. She really turned things around and this event ended up to be not bad at all. She actually saved this review from being a 1-star.

I must also commend the teaching staff; their instructional abilities were outstanding, offering clear, insightful, and incredibly encouraging guidance that greatly enhanced the learning experience for all participants. However, I did note a couple of aspects that I believe could be refined to elevate the overall experience even further. There was a distinct feeling throughout the session that we were quite pressed for time to finalize our pieces. This accelerated pace, unfortunately, limited the opportunity for more detailed refinement or unhurried exploration, detracting slightly from the meditative and expressive potential of the medium. Additionally, while I understand the importance of maintaining a tidy workspace, the requirement for participants to handle the full cleanup immediately upon concluding our work contributed to this sense of being rushed, rather than allowing for a more gradual and relaxed end to the creative process.

Pottery Painting at The Hot Spot in Liberty Station…read more We took our team of 15 to do pottery painting and it pains me to say that for groups, it was a bit of a let down. I've been here before with a friend and I'd say this location/company does better with smaller groups and not larger groups. I pre-booked our reservation and when we arrived, they had our large table with the paper on it with most things needed except paper towels. The seats felt really close together even with fitting all 15 of us so some had to sit on other tables since it's pretty crammed. For groups over 6 (I believe it was), they charge a 15% service charge and I completely understand and am happy to pay it if a decent experience is provided but it was basically self-service so I'm wondering what should have been included. The employee introduced herself who was "assigned to us" and handed out the cards to put paint on and added our pottery selections to her notepad. That was the extent of her help. I ended up going around to our table asking if anyone needed paper towels (since they weren't provided) or more paint. If our table was a small group, I could see that not being necessary but we were a large group who was paying a premium. The employee didn't come back to check on us as it got close to finishing. I went up to get ready to check out and find out where everyone needs to bring over their pottery and the employee remembered that people should write their initials with a special pencil. It was a bit disorganized and I had higher expectations with what we were paying. Is the service fee just for the extra paper on the tables because the other groups/individuals who didn't "get someone assigned to them" got the same level of service our group did. Our reservation was in the early afternoon and with this July heat, it did get hot. The shop had doors and windows open but 1 small fan in the corner of the room that didn't make much of an impact. I'd suggest more fans because this place makes great margins for what they offer. Overall, I wouldn't suggest this place for a group activity over 6 people. The service isn't worth it for the service fee. You're better off to have the group go in as individuals unfortunately.
