I was able to participate in their new event series. They kicked it off with "One Wicked Party". I thought it would be really cool to attend since the movie will be in theaters pretty soon. When I arrived, it looks like the event was going on during regular business hours open to the public and not private which made it difficult to tell who was participating in the actual event. Since it was my first time there, I thought the staff would give me a brief rundown after checking in and paying... instead, I was left to figure it out until I finally had to ask what's the protocol here. That rubbed me the wrong way! I also noticed the staff had their friends there too and it was a distraction instead of staff being attentive to customers especially new ones. Another staff came in a bit later and started to interact with us and provided the information I wanted to hear from the very start. She seemed more seasoned than the other staff I encountered earlier. She really turned things around and this event ended up to be not bad at all. She actually saved this review from being a 1-star.

Came here for a Wicked theme event, and at 1st was rather disappointed in what I saw vs what was advertised. The entrance was all decked out, but once entered my excitement lessen as everything else that was stated wasn't really there. My friend was extremely disappointed as no one dressed up and she was all decked out. It wasn't til I think the owner or manager Ariel arrived that things changed. She was super friendly, explained the best way to paint your ceramics to get the best results. She put on the Wicked movie, brought out more Wicked inspired items and just seemed to bring out the fun. We did "Wicked" trivia and that actually liven up the other staff and got them into the spirit as well. In the end the evening actually ended up being fun. So huge thanks to Ariel, making this event worth while. They also offer up other regular events like a sip n paint that sounded fun on Wednesdays....so I may be back to check it out.

Included before painting, after painting, and after the finished glazing process. Highly recommend this place! My boyfriend and I are beginners, but this place made it SO easy to paint your creation. Stamps and stencils are provided, but we found using it to be more difficult than just free handing it. Plenty of paint options, and unlimited time to work on your project. The color does come out differently after glazing like the signs mention, so be mindful when picking out your colors. Our creations were also ready for pick up after just a couple of days. Definitely planning on returning when we have an artistic craving

First time here, met 4 other ladies. We were absolutely shocked at the prices of the items to pick and paint. We almost left but decided to stay and pick cheaper items to paint. For a butterfly on a small base, maybe 5-6 inches tall, was $59!!! Be prepared to easily spend $50-150 per person to just sit and paint. After painting, they do glaze and fire it but it's definitely more than I'd ever pay again. I can buy crafts at Michael's for way less money and gloss it myself. They didn't have many paint brushes to choose from, I think 4, and the fan brushes didn't work well. The color ceramic plates used to put the paint on were very very small so we constantly had to keep filling them. I can think of better ways to spend $60-100. On a positive note... if you don't care about better brushes or how much you're spending, then it was a clean environment, staff was friendly, and the kids that were there looked like they were having fun and there's no time limit so you don't have to rush.

What a fun time!!! This event was everything and more! They played the Wicked movie, had 3 rounds of trivia, and everyone won something! I haven't had that much fun in forever! I'm so glad my friends and I went! I can't wait for their next event!!! We will definitely come back!! The manager Ariel was amazing too and made the event even more fun. 10/10 the best event CeramiCafe hosted!!! We'll be back thank you so much!!

So much fun for kids and adults. Pick a piece off the shelf, picks some paint and enjoy. It's so relaxing. Pro Tip: Write down the color number(s) just in case you don't finish and need to come back another day to finish painting. Staff are nice and helpful. Gentleman (owner?) that stocks the shelves is super friendly. Once done painting, turn in and they'll call you once glazing done.

This place is so cute! Came here for a girls day with my family and had a great time. Unlike other competitors they don't charge a studio fee and you can come back if you don't finish same day. They have a great selection of ceramics and it's nice to be able to get up and get your own paint instead of someone bringing it to you. The girls that work here are all kind and patient. Haven't received my piece yet (I'm not the best with anything artsy) but I'm sure it will look great!

We came here for a birthday party, the kiddos got to pick from a variety of items to paint, lots of color options. There was an employee assigned to the party to assist the kiddos get paint, etc. Cupcakes and lemonade were included. In my opinion it might not be worth the cost for 6 year olds... most just wanted to paint one coat and move on to the next piece ..they were probably most excited about the gum ball machine by the front door

CeramiCafe is just the sweetest lil Covid-safe spot to bring your child during these crazy times. First off, everything is open and airy. We chose our piece, cleaned our hands before selecting paints, then got our art on right outside on their little patio. We were the only patrons there on a weekday morning, and it was fun having the space to ourselves. My son chose out a tiny piece, and I was pleasantly surprised by the price - $5! Considering it gave us something new to do one afternoon plus they fire the item to a perfect shiny finish, the price can't be beat. We will be back with friends, one day! For now, this will be a fun activity to throw in the mix during Covid.

Do you have or plan to have the vintage Atlantic Christmas tree molds for painting?

Hi. Yes. We usually have several different sizes. Have fun painting.

Are we able to bring our own pottery to paint? How much would it cost? Thank you!

Hi. We do offer a glaze and fire fee. We will need to inspect to make sure it meets our requirements and have you sign a waiver in case of any issues. Fees range from $8-$15.

Can u give me an idea of how much you charge to bake my own pottery that has been painted? I have a piece that is about 8"x5".

Hi. Approx $10. We will take a look at to make sure it meets our qualifications,

Do you guys have any Hallow?

Hi Hanna. Yes we do. Pumpkins, skulls and many other Halloween options. Have fun painting

Do you have to book a slot ahead of time or can you just walk in?

Hi. You can walk in. Reservations are recommended on weekends and holidays. Have fun painting.

Can you pay to fire your own pottery here?

Absolutely! Bring by the piece and we will inspect, and if all is good we will fire.

We took a class at a pottery place in Laguna Beach last year so we wanted to give it a try again because it was pretty fun! We did the one time class pottery wheel try it class. It was $80 per person. Which is on the pricier side, compared to the other class we took last time. I will say this class was more informative than our last class. Our instructor taught us how to start working with our clay, demonstrated how to do it, worked with us, helped us out, showed us different techniques and steps on how to form our pottery. It's was definitely more challenging this time around because I think we didn't have to do as much in our last class we did. My boyfriend said he didn't like the pace of the class and having to work with a whole class. Our last class had less people so it was more intimate and slower, as for this class it was a little bit more of a faster pace. In the end we made 2 pieces. First one was like a practice piece and the second one was when you kind of got the hang of it and the final product looked better. We were only able to take one piece home. Our instructor said she typically does 2 pieces because she teaches faster but we are only able to take one. Honestly, I didn't like my first one too much so I was okay with that but I know some other people in the class wanted to take both. After you are done you have to clean up everything and put everything away. Then you chose the color glaze you want from a choice of 4 or 5. They glaze it for you then they tell you when it's ready for pick up. We are not from SD but it's an excuse to come back down to pick up our pottery.

You pick out the unfinished piece you want, gather your paint and supplies from the shelf, and then spend a couple hours painting them and turn them in for final firing. The selection was low the day we painted, but on the day we picked up the selection was plenty with well stocked shelves. Brushes and cups of water are already neatly set up at the tables. The only thing you have to do is get your paint in the bottled containers. Little hands may need assistance with this or leave it to the adults to prep the paint dish. I really like the space in the Art Cafe. There is plenty of room between each table. It may be different with more customers (we were the only ones on this weekday visit). But even then, I think there is more plenty of space you don't have to worry bumping into someone. I find all ceramic cafes to be a bit pricey but this is something to do once in awhile. I find it therapeutic and I love to watch the kids paint and be creative with their piece. Great bonding time with someone or good, quiet creative time for just yourself. Go check them out.

We chose to do glaze and wait a 1-2 weeks and they texted us when it was ready. (Only took a week) In terms of inventory, they have cute Knick knack ceramics you can make or kitchenware like plates, bowls, coasters, etc. I also saw people painting canvases so you really do have a lot of options if you're looking for a fun craft day. She's only one person but quite knowledgeable about the two paints offered - acrylic and glaze. Acrylic paint can be taken home same day. They apply a clear coat finishing spray and it will dry same day but may take a few hours. Anything with this paint would not be safe to eat/drink on if you get a plate/cup. Glaze will need 3 layers and would be an additional week to 2. When you paint it, it will look a bit chalkier but with the glaze, will turn shiny. There is a $5 firing fee. I believe this is okay to eat or drink after they glaze it. You could first choose which piece you want to paint, could be a cup/plate/dish or a figure. Pricing fluctuates depending on inventory. Ceramic pieces prices range from $15.99 to $50.00. They also offer canvas painting which prices range from $15.00 to $23.00. It's perfect to just paint and let your creative side come out. We enjoyed our time here painting. We also saw a few others come in either for date time or family time. One family was clever in that they had several kids, so they had each kid paint a teacup. If you don't finish or want to come back another time, you can always leave your piece with them and return to continue painting. You will need to pay though so they have your number on file to contact you (if you are getting it glazed) and also for you to resume your painting piece there. My girlfriend who was visiting, enjoyed our time here as we caught up talking and chatting while painting our shells. She had to do hers acrylic as she had to fly back to NY the next day. We ended up staying close to closing hours, so Mckenna helped do a quick spray - put it in a box for it to dry (due to the fumes) and let her take a picture of the spray to give it another layer when she went back. I did mine with glaze and got a text message it was ready a week and two days that it was ready for pick up. Very satisfied with our visit here and may come again.
