Squishes do not last.... They broke the same day and are cheaply made. I messaged on instagram and they completely ignored me. So unprofessional even though they are a no refund/exchange if you sell cheap squishes from AliExpress expect people to message you about how they pop so easily... never coming back
My first time tufting and it was so fun! I really appreciated that we got a whole lesson on how to use the tufting gun and practice as well. We got to choose the yarn color and honestly it made me want to get my own tufting gun! The worker who taught us was really nice and I would say although it is on the pricer side, definitely worth it!
If you're looking for a creative and fun spot for all ages, I highly recommend TuTu Fun Arts & Crafts! My 9-year-old absolutely loves it, but honestly, it's not just for kids. It's such a great place to unwind, get creative, and enjoy some hands-on fun.. whether you're going with friends, family, or even on your own. The staff is kind and encouraging, and there are so many different activities to keep everyone inspired. It's become one of our favorite go-to spots when we want to do something different and meaningful. Definitely worth checking out!
Brought my daughter and her friend to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and I got to make a candle, too. Midori made our experience easy, fun, and memorable. I'm so glad I have this beautiful memento to remember this past year and the year ahead. It is a little expensive; but, I think it's worth it for the experience and the product I get to take home. The scents were varied and interesting, too, and I'm really happy with my finished product!
Had such a fun time making our custom dessert/ cocktail inspired candles! They look and smell amazing. Kairi was attentive and helpful all along the way. From the selection of colors, scents, and wax types, to telling us how to use different techniques to get the effects we wanted, awesome person. I'd say it's a little pricey, but there isn't anything else like it anywhere in San Diego, nor would I want to do this anywhere else.

The two that hosted us were very attentive and knowledgeable and overall my group and I loved it! Will be back for other experiences.
We worked on a medium rug together which ended up costing $140 after tax (extra $20 for the extra seat). The staff were very helpful in giving a guiding lesson at the start and always being available to help whenever we had questions. The rug tufting process is quite tedious when it comes to filling it in with color, but we're excited for the end result
With only 3 locations, TuTu Fun is a unique experience with multiple activities (tufting, decoden art, and pour over paint) for home decor and accessories. This SD location is hiring as of 12/30/24. There are various sizes and prices vary, but I recommend making a reservation because there is no set time limit, only estimates. It would also be good to allocate time to pick your items up another day unless you do decoden art, which can take about an hour pending on what items are drying. Jen was very helpful explaining the crafting process and intermittently handled incoming people/phone calls. She also came around to give customized tips for each item. There is one restroom available, many rooms for tufting, and community style decoden art tables. Unfortunately by the time we got home, the phone case got messed up but we had fun creating!

I came here with a friend to decorate photo frames and it was a fun experience. Staff took us to an area where the supplies were; sky's the limit but in small increments at a time. There are plenty of options for items to decorate such as frames, hair brushes, bottles, and more. To decorate they offer a variety of paints and beads to use. Something I really liked here is that the staff allowed us to practice using the paint for decor as much as needed with no extra charge. Really shows that they understand the process and want to make sure we're happy with what we're doing! This experience was delightful and honestly started a new hobby for me.
TuTu Fun was a great experience! Although I did not partake, I was with two other people who did and pretty much walked through everything, except the actual tufting part. There are reservations you can make online and if you're pressed for time, I highly recommend it. Tufting even a "mini" piece takes about 1-2 hours. Also, please be aware that you do not get your piece right away. The employees have to make the magic happen (trim, paste a backing, etc) before you actually receive it. This would have been nice to know in the beginning. No one really told us about it. There were a flurry of employees working the front counter when we arrived. Their customer service needs a bit of work. There were only a couple of people that were actually helpful and decent towards us. We went on Saturday, Jan 4 and the closing shift (3 people) were the nicest. Thank you guys for helping us out with all our questions. I'll let yall figure that one out, management. Anyway, that didn't deter us from doing the activity which is a long process, but ultimately tutu fun! You do get a lesson before you actually tuft so be sure to pay attention and practice a lot before taking it on. Lots of options on what you want to make. The person who was assigned to our group made the experience that much better. All the pricing is listed front and center when you get into the store. Definitely try this place out as a creative outlet.

My husband and I did rug tufting at Tutu Fun and it was such a memorable date. I totally recommend it! If you've never done rug tufting before, I recommend going for one of the smaller sizes, because it took me quite a long time to finish my "small" canvas. You send the staff designs ahead of time and they review it and confirm whether it's doable as a rug design. When we got to the studio, the designs had already been prepped at the stations. We got a quick lesson on how to use a tufting gun, got to pick our yarn colors, and got started! I actually found it to be pretty challenging, but at any point if you need help, the employees are super friendly and will assist you. Really fun, 10/10 experience! I would consider doing another one of their many crafts here, and the merch they have for sale is also a really good selection. read more

Service: 4 Selection: 4 Value: 4 We came to Tutu Fun in La Jolla for my daughter's birthday and had such a fun and creative experience! It's located in the mall toward the outer edge, so it's actually really easy to access once you park, which was nice. We did decoden art and got to decorate a photo frame, a mirror, and a keychain. The lady working there showed the kids how to get started and explained what to do, and then it was really up to them to get creative! They could go back and forth and choose from all the different little charms and decorations they wanted to use. There were SO many to choose from, which made it even more fun. The whole experience took us about an hour to an hour and a half from start to finish, and the kids got to take home their own unique pieces of art that they created themselves. This is such a cute place with so many different types of crafts to choose from. Even if you're not there to do a craft, they have lots of adorable things you can buy as well. I would definitely recommend Tutu Fun if you enjoy decoden art, crafts, or just want something fun and relaxing to do. It's a great activity for kids, birthdays, or even just a creative day out. Finally got my hands on a squishy ! I'm not sure how much they're supposed to be, but I paid under $14 for each one. I picked up two: one coffee squishy and a circular one with fruit pieces in it. The coffee one smelled amazing and was definitely the squishier of the two. Inside of the shop is cool with lots to look at and looks like they offer some fun workshops. I believe one workshop I noticed was making candles. Another cool thing is they have a testing box across from the squishies where you can try them out before buying. Most of the shelf was sold out. The only downside was them being in some plastic zip bags and that made it a little difficult to really get the feel of it. Customer service was great and overall this was such a fun little shop to check out! read more

Visited Tutufun at La Jolla UTC and had a great time! The staff was informative, helpful, and super nice, which made the experience even better. They have a wide variety of arts and crafts to choose from, including rugs, Pop Mart figures, and other fun accessories. We decided to make hairclips, and it was such a fun project. This is a great spot for groups to hang out, get creative, and try something new. I'd love to come back and make another item in the future. read more

Went here for a date and it was so much fun crafting candles for the first time! Cay was an excellent teacher and she went above and beyond providing us with trinkets and glitter when my boyfriend and I made our candles. I think I just found my new favorite hobby! read more

I returned to Tutu Fun on 6/19 to start my XL rug. The design I chose is my favorite video game mascot. After checking in with reception, they reminded me to mirror my image and also forewarned that I will likely need to book a 2nd appointment to finish my rug given its size. For the cost of the XL, and two appointments -- I believe this venture was worth it! I've looked at the cost of trying to rug tuft on my own and to compile yarn colors, rug tufting gun, projector, etc would be very expensive. My appointment started off with tracing my design on canvas. They connected my phone to the projector. Tracing was easy enough! I did my best to make note of the shadows on my design as well. Once that was done the workers prompted me to pick my yarn colors, and then from there the workers hosted a class to teach how to use the tufting gun. My first appointment's goal was to get the outline fully completed. Since I had more time and energy to spare I worked on some of the facial features of my character. All in all for my chosen rug size it was a lot of standing work, and a lot of hand strain. For my second appointment I was able to finish! I am so proud of my finished piece. I would love to do this again if I ever thought of my next design. My rug was ready for pick up a few days later. The workers shaved and glued the grip mat underneath on their own. The workers were all so sweet, enthusiastic and supportive during all of my visits. read more
Took my kids here on a Sunday evening. There were several small groups working on projects, but we were able to walk in and get started too. A nice, clean atmosphere with multiple unique projects to work on. The staff were all so friendly and helpful in explaining how everything works. No matter what project you choose (decoden, fluid art, or rug tufting), they have a large selection of colors and accessories. The whole remember, so aesthetic! We were able to take our decoden art home right away where it will finish drying... but we will need to come back in a few days for our fluid bear. It can be a lil pricey, but definitely a cool date idea or something to do with friends! Located at UTC, next to the food court's side entrance, next to See's, The Lovesac, and close to the parking lot! read more

Checked out this new place and it is super cute! We chose to make tote bags (and apparently we were the first!). I don't know if I would come back because how many cute carpets does one need, but it is fun. All of staff is also super nice, especially the young Asian man who does the background work! Some suggestions to make a better carpet: - You have to press hard when you do the carpet gun so it doesn't pop back - I also would not do the suggested black outline. It makes it kind of ugly. I would have done the outline with just the actual color of the content And I wish they got better tote bags. They gave us really cheapy tote bags and I would've rather had just paid for the small carpets and then take them home to glue them onto my own tote bag of choosing. I did also ask them to separate the heart from my togepi, but they stuck it all onto the carpet as one piece (,: But all in all, what a cool addition to UTC! I'll probably come back and bring my niece! read more

Amazing experience! Despite making a short notice reservation with a large group, they were so kind to work with me on giving suggestions for all of the individual projects my friends & I wanted to work on. Our instructor (I don't know if I got their name - but they had a monchichi deer pin) was incredibly sweet and helpful to my whole group & I. This experience was truly worth it for the attention from our instructor, their willingness to help us with all of our needs, the calming atmosphere, private work area, and overall this was such a wonderful experience! It's so fun to have your whole group working on a project together, and getting to take home something special to remember it by. I'd much rather spend my money on an outing here than something like going out for pricey drinks. Thank you everyone at TuTu Fun for making our outing unforgettable - I will definitely be back! read more

I came here with some friends and we each made one of the beaded keychains. The pricing was rather misleading: keychains were marked as being $28 each but the majority of the available beads were 'premium' and upped the cost to $34. I was willing to overlook the cost and we did enjoy the crafting, but the final product was cheap and flimsy in quality. Within a week, two of our three keychains had begun to unravel. I called to request a partial refund or voucher, but was told the best they could do was have me return to the store for a free repair. Since returning wasn't a convenient option for me, I instead repaired my keychain myself and replaced the cheap crimp bead. Just a few days later the keychain snapped entirely, under no strain whatsoever, and spilled beads everywhere. I am very frustrated to have spent $34 for a keychain that broke beyond repair within a week. read more

A super unique and fun experience where I got to design and make my own rug. The price is reasonable, I paid $78 for a medium rug and I spent 3 hours on making it. The staff would give you a lesson on how to use the rug gun and then there's no time limit as to how long you need to complete it. I like how they have private rooms in the back where if you want to get away from the crowd, they have spaces available for you to do that. A very fun activity for friends and family 15+ years old! read more

This is such a fun experience! You start with a practice run to get familiar with tufting techniques, where you learn to go vertical, horizontal, and up and down. After that, it's time to sketch an outline for your rug, giving you the freedom to create whatever you want. I chose to make a rug of my kitten. While I initially tried to replicate a real photo, it became a bit complicated, so I opted for a cat graphic and customized it to fit her pattern. After tracing, you choose your yarn and get started. I won't lie....the process took a long time, and our arms got sore. We were glad we decided to work on one rug together, so we could take turns. It probably took us around 2-3 hours to finish, and we learned to trust the process. After we finished, we walked around the mall for an hour and then picked up our rug on the way out. I got a medium rug and it ended up being priced at $138. This is not only worth it, but a great bonding activity. read more

Fun date activity! We accidentally made a reservation for the day after we actually came but they were able to accommodate us. The staff were really friendly and came over to compliment our work and take pictures (with our consent). It took less than an hour for the rug to get trimmed and have a backing added to it. read more

My friends and I had an amazing experience rug tufting with Jen! Not only was she an amazing instructor as she was very patient with us and very attentive to us the entire process since it was all of our first time. She had great energy the whole time we were there and would rush to us whenever we needed help. She was super funny and made us laugh. We had the best experience for my friend's birthday because we had the best customer service from Jen. We will definitely come back soon! read more

I made a mini carpet ($64) and I was in the store from 5:15pm-7:45pm. I came with a group of 4. Three were doing mini carpets, one was going to do a phone case, they didn't have a case for her iPhone so instead she decorated a frame. Getting checked in was a little chaotic. There were three people trying to check us in and get us started, each worker would walk away and then another one would come and try to pick up where the other left off. Once we signed the waivers, we were brought back to trace our canvas. You are asked to have an image you want, screenshot, invert it, connect your phone to their projector and then the employee lines up your image on your canvas for you to trace with a marker. When we were done tracing, we got taken to another room to do a safety run-down of using the yarn gun. The safety talk went great. The employee who ran that was personable, polite and made sure we all were able to use the yarn gun safely and properly. We picked our yarn colors and got set up at the table to work on our rugs. The first 20 minutes was so frustrating! Power through it. You will get the hang of it. The yarn kept coming out of the gun and I had to rethread it maybe 20 times during the whole session. The dowel that the yarn sits on doesn't spin easily for every color of yarn. I found myself having to unravel a good amount of yarn each time before stitching. We were told to do the outline first, and it looked so horrible, I was really worried that it wouldn't look like what I wanted at all. Do not be put off. Once I was 90% done did it actually look like my image. Once we thought we were finished, we called an employee over, they checked it for any open spots and then cut the image out of the wooden frame. We were quoted 45 minutes to an hour for pick up. We walked around the mall and then came back to pick up our finished rugs. They came out so good! Over all the customer service is all over the place. Employees would come to help us with something, then just disappear and then another employee would come over and we would have to ask them to help us with what the original employee was supposed to be doing. There is a lot going on in the studio. Maybe if certain employees were designated to a certain area of the studio that would help it be less chaotic. Instead of all employees trying to cover the whole studio. Parking at the mall is free for the first 2 hours and then $3 an hour after that. read more
Came here on opening day, there were a game to play to win some gift cards. Ended up winning $10 gift card (that can't be stacked with any other deals). They were also having a 10% sale on grand opening day so my friends and I decided to tuft some rugs! The process is super simple: you show them an image, they project it, you trace, and then tuft! They give you a tutorial & have plenty of different color choices. I ended up tufting a piece of bread and it was so fun! Took us two sessions, about 30 minutes each. Price was ~$70 with tip for a mini. If you don't finish, you can always come back to finish another day. They also take reservations which makes everything super convenient as well! Besides the rugs, they also have fluid bears and decoden (which I will be coming back for!). I thought the prices were slightly expensive but definitely worth the experience. What I cannot be more happy about is the service here! Every single employee is the nicest. The employee helping us the first day was so patient with us (we took about 30-40 minutes choosing designs). They helped us choose colors, and even let us stay slightly past closing, around 9:40pm to finish up. I will definitely be coming back & recommend this for anyone who wants a fun activity to do for a few hours! read more
