I drove two hours to get to Leilani's attic. The staff there is extremely sweet and the store is AMAZING. They have everything there!!! I ordered my lei po'o from the website and the pick up process was so easy. The flowers were so fresh and beautiful. They also have a fridge on the side where you can pick up fresh leis. I wish I could remember the name of the girl that helped me as she was wonderfully bubbly, talkative and helpful, even if the store didn't have what I was looking for. (P.S. She was just as pleasant on the phone when I called.) Unfortunately, no ladies line of Hawaiian shirts. (I had encouraged people to wear Hawaiian shirts for my dad's memorial service but didn't have one myself.) Even though I couldn't find what I was looking for, I did buy some tasty snacks from Hawaii and received a lot of recommendations for other tasty snacks. Fun fact: I had been to this store before when it was in Pacific Beach and bought a lovely Hawaiian dress for a dress up day at work. Sadly, they don't carry as many clothes as they used to. From clothing, hula instruments, flags, insulated lunch bags, and refrigerator magnets to frozen poi, fresh flower lei, hurricane popcorn, chili pepper water, taro chips, S&S Saimin, Redondo's Hawaiian Winners (also known as the red hotdogs), and Zippy's chili - I was in awe. The employees were extremely kind and helpful. I asked for a single flower (real flower) because I wanted a real flower and they didn't hesitate to give me one and made sure I had everything I needed. We knew that we wanted a ti lei and a lei po'o for our wedding ceremony so we ordered about a week out online and we're able to pickup in Clairemont the day before. They were beautiful and photographed perfectly. Our reception was at SD Zoo and my lei po'o withstood the heat and movement of the day. Nahaku was super responsive when I needed an update and Auntie working in store was friendly. I came here last minute for Lei for my son's 8th grade promotion. Let me tell you, the lady in the front was amazing! Super helpful and sweet, she helped me pick out the right lei for my son, they have fresh premade lei that are refrigerated, and she went over proper storage until we need to use it tomorrow. Custom lei needs to be ordered 3 days in advance so just keep that in mind, though the ones they have premade are all beautiful as well! I just came back from a trip to Hawaii, visiting my family and eating all the ono grinds! I brought back 2 packs of li hing candy and not enough goodies for my family back in SD. I'm so glad I saw this place after a visit to Sipz and reminded of it from my cousin who sent me a tiktok of it! The ambience of this shop gives me kid in a candy store vibes but make it island candy. Leilani's is packed with so many yummy island goodies! From li hing candy and macadamia nut chocolates to Zippy's chili and Hawaiian knick knacks. We're lucky to have a place like this in SD - makes me feel like I'm back on the island visiting this shop. As I checked out, I told the cashier we just came back from Hawaii and couldn't help but get more things from here. She laughed and told my boyfriend and I we weren't the only ones! For a moment I thought I got scammed. I finally get notice that my order will be shipping out on June 10th from Las Vegas and was given the tracking#. My package didn't actually get mailed out until June 13th, only the shipping lable was created on the 10th. I ordered a $60 double orchid trace plumeria lei but that's not what I received. They said they called the day before pick up to say they were out of plumeria but I have no missed call. I had left a note on my order which said if they were out of plumeria I would like tuberose or roses added to my lei. Tuberose or rose/orchid leis cost the same amount as the one I purchased for $60. Instead they just made me a double orchid lei which is cheaper but I was not refunded for receiving a cheaper item nor made aware of what they were doing. I tried to ask if they could add roses to my lei when I was there for pick up since one of the ladies making leis had my order in hand and they said no because it's already made. Since they couldn't accommodate me with an item of equal price it would have been nice if I had received a refund for the price difference rather than them pocketing the difference. Don't know what was going on with the lady in front of me but she seemed a little unhappy about her order as well. Pretty lei's though. read more
