I've been to the South Bay location a few times, with the drive and the wait time, I was excited to get one in the east bay. There's plenty of parking at this location. We were seated quickly for a weekend dinner. It is quite small, but it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Food taste a little different here, but maybe over time it'll be as good as the Santa Clara location.

First time trying this shot, I was interested in comparing it to Myeongdong jiajiangmyeon in the pacific pearl plaza. Ordered a sweet and sour pork, jiajiangmyeon, and spicy noodle soup (can't remember the name). The sweet and sour pork was just alright, nothing too special and a good amount of batter compared to pork inside. Jiajiangmyeon was great, noodles were al dente and sauce paired perfectly. My only gripe is that the sweet and sour pork is a bit pricey for what it was

I've been coming here for a while now and it's always been spot on. I only get the regular jjampong. I have tried the chili one and the meat one but I think the regular seafood one is the best. They are very generous with the seafood and it could be spicier (for me everything can be spicier) but it is fairly spicy and the broth is very rich. I always come for lunch usually by myself during a weekday and it is never crowded and the service is excellent. There is only one lady there who is always there during weekday lunches and she will check on how I'm doing about twice during the meal, which is the Goldilocks amount of how much I want to be checked in on. My daughter loves the jjajangmyeon here. I'm not a huge fan of jjajangmyeon but I have tried the spicy seafood mixed one and it is delicious. We have also tried some other dishes and honestly, you can't miss with whatever you order here. So flavorful and textures are perfect and they are generous with their portions. I did read another reviewer mention that the portion size did become smaller with the new ownership and I also noticed that. However the portion size now is still way more than you should eat in one sitting (though I still do and regret it every time). Highly recommend this place.

What an amazing place for noodle soup! If you like tasty noodle soup that's full of goodness, I think you should check this out. We came here on a cold night and the food certainly hit the spot! Husband ordered a beef jjampong while I had the regular seafood jjampong. Both were excellent, full of flavor and filled with lots of soft veggies and seafood/beef, thus not very carby, just the way we like it. It was a feast for the senses and the stomach! I think this is the best Korean food I've ever tasted. And the women who work there are so kind and gentle, I love them!!

We came to try the place after watching culinary class wars and it was good. Super fast service and tasty stuff.

I haven't been back in awhile. I noticed the menu has changed to the double sided menu instead of the thick book of menu. We tried the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings( we asked less spicy and they were able to do it) , meat jajangmyeon and beef jjamppong. The chicken wing was so so. A bit too much sauce for me. And I felt the meat that went with jajangmyeon was a bit dry. I would probably get the regular jajangmyeon next time without the meat like we used to. The beef jjamppong wa prob the best of all we tried this time. Service, not much. We didn't get water refill until we asked. Inside area was clean. Plenty of parking.

Came here with some friends and shared a few dishes: jajangmyeon, fried dumplings, and kkanpunggi. Overall, everything was decent, but the kkanpunggi definitely stood out as the highlight. I'd absolutely order that again! Prices are reasonable and I'm glad we got to try a variety of dishes!

The food was so good, I've been thinking about getting the stir fried jajangmyeon ever since having it here. Tastes so much better than the regular in my opinion. The cream shrimp was very good too, reminiscent of honey walnut prawns especially with the cream sauce. The shrimp were pretty big too. The service was excellent and my gf and I had a great meal here. Definitely coming back

I'd been to the one in Santa Clara when it first opened about decade ago and wasn't terribly impressed. After watching Culinary Class Wars, my husband wanted to try it so we decided to give the new location closer to us a chance. Rating Breakdown: 1.5/2 Stars for Taste -- Our favorite dish was the fried pork (tangsuyuk). The breading was crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, almost tasted more like a guobaorou. The dipping sauce has just the right amount of tang and I appreciate that it's served on the side. The jajangmyeon is solid, it comes with a good amount of meat (and peas, I could hear my sister complaining in my head). Not the best I've had but not the worst either. The jjampong came with a generous serving of seafood but lacked the classic wok hei flavor. I would skip this next time. 1/1 Stars for Value -- $11 for a giant bowl of jajangmyeon is a pretty great deal. They give you so much sauce you could easily pay a few dollars for extra noodles and make this a double portion. If you get a noodle dish and an entree to share, you'll probably spend about $20-25 per person. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- We came with our twin stroller and the server was kind enough to find us a table with ample room to accommodate it. Our food came out quick and I appreciate that they give you scissors and extra bowls for the noodles without asking. We beat the rush and there was a small line when we finished. The servers were efficient but never made us feel rushed. Bonus star because if I'd come back to the the stir fried jajang and jajang rice next time!

I used to go the one next door Young Dong but this one has different menu even though both are Korean food. I like their stir fried Jajangmyeon, spicy but good. The noodle was chewy and portion was huge enough for two.

So my beautiful wife and I wanted to try this spot, ever since we heard about it on social media. Let's say we were not disappointed! The fast paced restaurant, offers a variety of wonderful dishes, to eat on your own, or share with your table. We ordered 2 bowls of the Jajangmyeon, vegetable fried rice and an order of their sweet and sour pork. I will say the Jajangmyeon was delicious and it really hit the spot! The sweet and sour pork, offered a crunchy but subtle texture when I took my first bite. Definitely tasted better than your typical run of the mill, Chinese counter part. The vegetable fried rice at first I thought was too bland, and needed more flavor, but in the end it was delicious and really surprised me. There are two locations in the Bay Area, Santa Clara and Dublin. I can't wait to visit the South Bay location, to see if it's equally good. Service: 10/10 Food: :10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 (typical Asian restaurant noise) Overall: 20/10

The review is based off of takeout. Although I did takeout, the server was so sweet and offered us waters and chair to sit outside as we waited. The ambience was calm and casual eating. We loved all of the korean chinese food we ordered: Stirfried jjajangmeyon (5/5)-got it less spicy and it was perfect! Jjampong (5/5)-perfect flavoring def my fave Deep fried pork, or tangsuyuk (4/5)-the flavor was amazing, they do have an interesting breading ratio to meat but when you first get it omg the portion size and the crunchy texture is to die for. Would highly recommend!

Really great place to come for black bean noodles! I came here for a group of 4 and we definitely over ordered. Their portions are super huge. We got a spicy stir fried jajang (typically for 1-2 people), chow mein, jam pong, and sweet sour fried pork. My favorite which I was really surprised by was the sweet and spicy pork! I like that the sauce came on the side so the pork stayed crispy and the pork was so juicy inside: My group has different favorites for the noodles so I'd say to go with what you're feeling. Stir fried spicy black bean noodles have heavier flavors and pack a punch! Some people say that it's a bit much after while but I personally really enjoyed it. Spicy seafood soup noodles were another favorite, the soup was spicy and hot and there was lots of seafood in it. Chowmein was a more mild garlicky flavor with lots of vegetables. This was my least favorite but good as something with simpler flavors.

It used to be you can only join where you come near the restaurant. It must be only for busy days like Mother's Day? There was a sheet offering specials for Mother's Day, cocktails, mocktails, a kurobuta pork belly and 2 desserts. We ordered our usual fare. Great service by Ariel, she handled everything as a pro, even with the crazy business. Food came out with no delay. The only change that we noticed id the teriyaki beef. The rib eye was usually so tender and juicy, everybody that we invited here were amazed how tender and great they were. Yes, we came here quite often, and brought every and all out of town guests here. But today they were tough, on the dry side, even though cooked Rare and MediumRare. All 3 steaks. So disappointed. We finished with the Biscoff cookie sundae, which they had for Valentine, a tempura fried ice cream dessert with crumbles of Biscoff cookies and caramel drizzles. So good. The room was busy with laughter and guests enjoying the food and company on this holiday.

Food: Everything we ordered was generous in portion and…read moreworth the price. The sushi rolls were large and filling. The fried oysters were also a great size and came with two dipping sauces, which was a nice touch. The maze ramen was a big portion and even my toddler enjoyed it. The standout for me was the tempura ice cream--perfectly crisp with a thin, light shell. Service: Our server was friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. However, the host experience was frustrating. The Yelp waitlist wasn't working on a busy Friday night, which seemed to cause some disorganization. We were quoted a 25-minute wait for a party of three, but ended up waiting 45 minutes. During that time, multiple parties of three who arrived after us were seated first. When I checked in at 35 minutes, I was told we were "next," but that didn't seem to reflect what was happening. At 45 minutes, after checking again and explaining how long we'd been waiting, we were seated immediately. It was confusing and especially difficult with a hungry toddler. Parking: Parking can be tricky. The restaurant is located under an apartment complex with limited guest spots on the first floor of the garage. If it's full, you'll have to exit and find street parking (which is minimal) or park across Dublin Blvd and walk. Overall: This was close to a perfect experience. The food and server were great, but the disorganized wait and host interaction took away from it. Hopefully they improve their system for busy nights, especially if the Yelp waitlist goes down again.

We did get seated by the kitchen, so it was a bit hectic with staff constantly rushing behind us. We got the premium set and the meat quality was great. The vegetable platter that came with the set had a nice variety of fresh veggies. We ordered udon noodles but what we got was broken up pieces of frozen noodles that looked only to be half a serving. Other than that we still enjoyed our meal and were both stuffed. Personally I'd choose the Emeryville location over this one just because it's bigger and you're not sharing a table with other guests as much.

I have always had fond memories of this place, even with it being constantly packed and busy, and with limited seating. I finally had the chance to revisit recently, and brought my husband along. We went on a Sunday, so it was inevitably packed. The parking lot is as crusty as I remember, but that's part of what makes no-frills, hole-in-the-wall restaurants solid. The ambiance inside is loud and cramped, but we were here for the food. Service was decent, all the servers were so busy taking care of everyone, I can only imagine the chaos in the kitchen. And hands down did the food deliver. The price of everything was reasonable, and the flavors were delicious. I went with the dduk bulgogi while my husband went with the mixed soondubu (medium spicy). The banchan variety was splendid, and honestly I couldn't choose a favorite. I loved the creamy potato and corn mixture, since that was unique. Sometimes restaurants skimp on banchan portions, but not here. My dduk bulgogi was packed with veggies, rice cakes, tender beef, and glass noodles. The broth had a good depth of flavor, and was not oily or rich. My husband's mixed soondubu was also delightful. I had a quick sip of his broth and it had a lovely umami flavor. The spice level was perfect. We did both wonder, however, why his bowl didn't come out bubbling while mine did. Regardless, it was still steaming hot. Both portions of soup were served with rice, and we thoroughly enjoyed taking our time savoring each bite. I dumped the remainder of my rice into the broth at the very end and that was the perfect way to end our meal. We are almost never in Hayward, since we generally frequent other parts of the bay, but I would definitely return and try some other dishes next time. Everyone always orders the seafood pancake (and a ton of people were when we went and it looked so good). Of course if I had enough stomach space, I would have ordered that too. Well that just means I have to go back, haha. All in all, don't let the location or exterior fool you. The food is solid and The Sister House is definitely one of my favorite Korean spots in the bay.
