I've been to a few different Paik's Noodle locations, and this one is by far my favorite! I got the jjajangmyeon and tangsooyuk (sweet and sour pork)... both were absolutely scrumptious! The tangsooyuk was delicious even without the sauce! Super crunchy on the outside with that soft, chewy mochi-like texture inside! So satisfying. The jjajangmyeon was also spot on! The sauce and noodles blended perfectly, rich and savory without being too heavy. It was pretty busy when I went for weekend lunch, so be prepared for a bit of a crowd... but honestly, worth it. Apparently the guy that owns this restaurant is famous or something. There's like a giant picture of him on the wall and a story about his food. I read it and didn't absorb any of it. But I'm sure it killed enough time while waiting for my table to try out his amazing food. Like all the other good restaurants, this one was packed. The concept of the place was interesting to me. It combined Chinese and Korean cuisine. I guess you would just call it Asian fusion food. Not a new concept, but the output of the food here fits my palette pretty well. It felt like comfort home food, but at the same time, food you wouldn't normally make at home. Anyways, I was really hungry that night, so I ended up ordering a lot here. Sharing it among one other of course. So we got the jajangmyeon of course, the sweet and sour pork, order of pot stickers, and the lemon chicken. And a bunch of soju and beer! It was a wonderful feast for 2. I loved it! We ate everything with nothing to spare! The food was great, but my least favorite was the sweet and sour pork. Don't get that, it was pretty lame. Upon entering, there is a sign that says to order at the counter first. However, there is also a tablet for you to sign up your name and phone number in, to be on the waitlist. The group in front of us stayed in the waiting area after "signing in", so we did, too. Then they eventually walked up to the front to order at the counter. I didn't know if they got texted or just walked up... so eventually without getting a text (bc it took awhile), we walked up too. The cashier simply confirmed my name and took our order. I guess we didn't need a text. Then she told us which table to sit at, so I guess we didn't have a choice, which is ok, I just had no idea what to expect. We ordered Spicy jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork). Both were actually quite good. Besides maybe needing a teeny bit more salt, the jajangmyeon sauce had a good flavor, and I like that it was between thick and soupy. It went well with the texture of the noodles. It was spiced with jalapeños- I was hoping it would be spiced with gochugaru... but it was fine. It also could've used some more noodles for the sauce you get. The tangsuyuk was crispy in a different way than a typical sweet & sour pork... I don't know how tangsuyuk is made but I suppose the batter for the outside is different. It is served with its sauce on the side... that sauce was great! I loved all the bits of veggies in it, too. As far as seating and service, it's a bit confusing. Otherwise, the food is pretty good. We went on Sunday around 5:30PM, and despite the place being packed, we were seated right away for our group of 3. The setup is straightforward--you order and pay at the counter first, then take a number to your table. We ordered Jajangmyeon, Jjamppong, and Sweet and Sour Pork, and shared everything between the 3 of us. The portions were generous. Everything we tried was amazing, and I really liked the Sweet and Sour Pork- it had the perfect balance of lightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Our food came out pretty quickly, and the staff were all helpful and efficient. Despite the busy dinner rush, we had an enjoyable time and everything went smoothly. I noticed that their Stir-fried Jajangmyeon was really popular, so I'll definitely be trying that next time! This has become my favorite spot for jajangmyeon and jjamppong! read more

This is probably the only place in the east side where you could try Korean Chinese dishes. The Paik's noodle didn't disappoint us and delivered what I expected. - sweet and sour poke was delicious and cooked evenly. - Japche rice which I ordered based on the recommendation was excellent. Not something I wouldn't typically order but if you haven't tried I do recommend it - Jajangmyun was pretty good. A bit too sweet for my personal preference but that's not unusual. - cheap. I have wanted to go here since they first opened as it is so hard to find good black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodles in Washington. When I saw the prizes and portions, I knew that my family would love this place. Fast forward to now, I told my mom that I wanted to have my birthday dinner here and she said okay. We unfortunately got there as they were closing for lunch and had to wait for them to open up at 4:30 but that was easy as we went to the nearby Uwajimaya and shopped until it was time for them to open. Once we arrived, there was a paper menu that you could look at and a sign that says you needed to order at the counter before taking a seat. We were greeted warmly when we entered and the service at the counter was pleasant. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, black bean noodles, and spicy seafood soup. As we looked around, they had a very modern interior with minimal decorations. They did decorate for Christmas with poinsettias at the front. The inside is very bright too which was nice as it allows for great pictures. I also love the silverware and bowls here. I do think it's interesting that a lot of new Korean chains that are coming to the US does this style of payment where you order and pay then can just leave but then the issue is that you are still expected to tip, while in Korea you don't have to tip so this kind of service doesn't make sense or they should just take out tipping. Additionally, you don't really get service, and you have to flag someone down for things. For example, we did ask for extra daikons at the counter but I think the lady forgot and the servers never really came by us to check on us. This really sucks for when you need anything else like napkins or other things. Anyways, moving on to the food! We got the food pretty fast which was nice and it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the amount of food given and these were definitely better than what you can find in Federal Way. We were able to get full of the food. I wished there was shrimp in the spicy seafood soup but they did have lots of vegetables in there. read more

This is an update to my previous review. I got to try a few more dishes. Shrimp fried rice - highly recommended. It comes with a side of jajang sauce. Phenomenal. Spicy chicken (깐풍기) - this wasn't bad but it had a bit too much vegetable oil smell/aroma. Idk what it is... It was not bad but it wasn't great. They now offer soju, 막걸리, and beer. I've been a fan of Chef Paik since Culinary Class Wars, and this place didn't disappoint. It's solid Korean comfort food with great flavors. The Jajang Rice and Jjampong combo had a good balance of taste and a nice kick of spice. The chili shrimp was crispy and enjoyable. Portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. The service was attentive and helpful, which I think is a big improvement from past reviews about service issues. There has been a decent amount of hype around Paik's Noodle in the Bellevue area, and I've heard of how good Paik's is from friends in the Bay area, so I was glad to hear that they opened a location here in Bellevue! I went on a Friday around 7pm and had a brief 10 minute wait time before getting seated. The parking is very accessible, as Paik's Noodle replaced the old Hakka House location - sharing a lot with Uwajimaya and Total Wine, there will be plenty of spots to chose from. The ambiance is casual sit down, with a clean minimalist decor and posters around the restaurant. During busier times, you'll likely have to join a wait list at the front the restaurant. Ordering is done at the cashier, and you'll be handed a order number to take to your table. We probably got our food around 10-15 minutes after ordering during a busy time, so I can foresee it being faster when things are not busy. I ordered two things - the Chili Shrimp and the Jajangmyeon. Which I'll review below: Jajangmyeon ($11): The Jajangmyeon was decent, nothing really special as other reviews have mentioned. The main things is definitely the price, as getting a meal below $12 in the Bellevue area is rare - you could order two of these and get pretty full. Flavor-wise, the sauce is very light in terms of flavor - you can eat the sauce straight up without any noodles and it will not be salty. Since the sauce is so light, the bowl tends to get a bit one dimensional when paired with noodles, which is usually there to soak up and spread out the flavor. Otherwise, the noodles are nice and springy and have a good chew. Chili Shrimp ($20): The shrimp is fried to a nice crisp, and coated in a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. The shrimp was also decent, though a better flavor profile than the Jajangmyeon. I think that price-wise, it is on the steeper side as you can basically order two noodle dishes for the price of some fried shrimp in sweet sauce. Paik's Noodle offers a good meal for a cheaper price than the standard Korean restaurant. There aren't too much Korean restaurants on Eastside, and I definitely welcome any newcomers to the area. I think I would personally stick with noodles the next time I revisit Paik's, as the entree sort of act as more of a supplement to the good deal that are the noodles. read more

I've been meaning to try Paik's Noodle for the longest time now. I don't know too many places that serve Jajangmyeon in the east side, and this place really hit the spot! My friends and I came here for dinner a bit ago - the restaurant has a nice casual atmosphere where you can have a bite to eat while catching up and chatting with friends. Located near Uwajimaya, there is a parking lot with many parking spaces. At the restaurant, you order at the counter and choose a table before employees bring the food out to you - there was a ton of seating and it doesn't seem like waiting is a common concern here. The food was definitely the highlight of the meal - between the 3 of us, we got one jajangmyeon, a meat jjamppong, tangsuyuk, and some dumplings to share. Before I talk about my favorite dishes of the night, I thought the fried dumplings were good (nothing extraordinary they kinda remind me of ones you get from teriyaki restaurants), and though the tangsuyuk had a good sauce, I wish there was more of a pork texture to the meat rather than it feeling a bit like chewy dough. The Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong were insane. You honestly get a TON of food for dishes that cost $10-15, and my friends and I left feeling incredibly satisfied. The Jjamppong was well-seasoned, and wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, with broth that was flavorful and hearty. The Jajangmyeon was my personal favorite - the chewiness of the noodles was perfect and the flavors of the sauce were perfectly balanced. Similar to previous reviews, I do wish the dish itself had more meat, however if you order the "meat" versions of the dishes you definitely get much more meat than the normal versions. We came near closing time and the servers were sweet and allowed us to dine in. The black bean noodles weree so gooddd! It was a really good serving and the meat chunks were bigger than I'm used to. I'm big fan of the instant paik black bean noodles. So I figured that I would like these black bean noodles too! Did not disappoint. But my favorite was the chilli shrimp it pleasantly surprised me spicy and stayed very hot as we ate the black bean noodles. I didn't expect to like it so much. I also liked how they had gochugaru on the side when you want to add some spice to your dish. My one critique is that although I like the peas I find that they were lacking flavor/ texture. My first visit I had planned on ordering to go but didn't plan ahead. I thought I'd be able to easily walk in and just place an order at the counter but they were so busy it didn't seem so. I couldn't get an answer and the little check in box at the front for the sign in list said 25 minutes for to go orders. So I left and instead came back the next day but ordered my food online. Upon arrival my food was ready and I was on my way. The fried dumplings were a 8.5/10 for me. They were insanely good to me. Packed a great flavor profile and I definitely would order these again! I'm not a connoisseur of jajangmyeon by any means. However, their sauce here was delicious. It wasn't too sweet and perfectly coated the noodles once tossed in. My to go order had the packed sauce separate from the noodles and it did take a little time to toss it all together but once I got it mixed, we were good to go. I saw lots of Seattle foodies drop by this place so I had to give it a try, too! Bonus points for being across from Uwajimaya. You walk up to order and pay at the counter then you're seated at the table. Service was fairly friendly. Food was served quickly. It's just an open dining room with tables along the sides and center. Very causal joint. I noticed a lot of patrons coming in and being confused about the seating/ordering process. There's a handful of items to choose from, but I was only interested in the infamous items: tangsuyuk & jjajangmyeon. The Jjajangmyeon aka black bean noodles were pretty good and affordable for about $10-11 a bowl. The sweet and sour pork was about $15-16 a plate. It was okay, I'd say 3/5. Nothing spectacular. We tried the meat one last time but the stir fried has way more flavor. The dish definitely be shared between two people if you get a protein entree along with it. I thought I was going on a roll with all my recent 4-5 star reviews. So I'm really disappointed about this new Korean noodle place. Because it's a new place, we put our names down. And they would call us when there were a few tables open. Once you order, it's about 2-3 minutes until your noodles come. Question is. Why is the Mandu pictures and what you actually get so different?? Reason I ordered the mandu (dumplings) was that it looked so unique in the pictures. Came out looking like very normal dumplings. Only upside is it was nicely crispy.. but taste was only alright. Jjm and Jjp was lacking. I seriously think a bag of instant nongs would be much more flavorful, and it would be 1/10 the price. And you could add your own type of proteins for the remainder of the cost. Our fried pork came out after we had finished everything else and we had to remind them three times. And when it came, my husband asked why there was no flavor. Hahaha well you do have to dip it in their sweet and sour sauce, but still.. it was far from wow. Overly coated in rice flour, with too skinny pork to taste. Maybe my expectations were too high? Definitely not worth the 40 minutes wait right now. I finally got a chance to try Paik's Noodle after hearing so much about it and being a fan of Paik Jong Won! Paik's noodle is located in the same plaza as Uwajimaya, just on the other side closer to the street with ample parking. I came on a weeknight with some friends and there was no wait. At Paiks, you order at the counter and then find a table and wait for them to bring you your food. I ordered the jjajangmyeon noodle which I enjoyed. The flavor profile of the dish was not too salty or too sweet and the sauce coated the noodles well. I do wish that there was a little more meat in the sauce and less onions. The portion was a perfect portion for one person, with a small amount for leftover. I was not a big fan of the tansuyuk sauce as it was more on the sour side and the consistency seemed to be clumpy. However the meat itself was good and crispy. The line started to pick up as we finished eating and was getting busier so come earlier!
