If you have ever driven by and wondered if you should stop, let me encourage you to stop. Yes, parking is difficult. Yes, the line is long. Yes, they move people through very quickly. Yes, it is the best soft-serve ice cream I have ever had. Drop the My wife and I decided to celebrate the final task in exiting an apartment and moving to The Flats. We were able to find parking and got into the line. Along the way we both chose what we wanted until we got to the window. The flavor we decided to get was a limited time one: cookie butter crunch. It was so good! Their menu is massive. You could visit every day in a three month window and never repeat the same order. Their soft-serve is exceptionally creamy. Their flavors are very real tasting. I am planning my next visit! Oh, and all the folks gathered around are kind, friendly, and you will make a new friend. Don't delay...they are not open year round.
I was having a real "Pittsburgh Proud" moment at this ice cream spot. I loved reading about the history of the business and looking through all of the vintage advertisements and memorabilia outside the shop. My first thought after visiting was that I should have come here sooner, and my second thought was already deciding what I want to order next time. I am already planning to order the peanut butter soft serve with warm fudge and a warm cookie after being inspired by their chocolate chip cookie sundae advertisement and will need to ask about what the strawberry shortcake situation is all about as well. For years, I watched the long lines outside and wondered what all the hype was about. Sometimes you don't get it until you "get it" - and now I get it. Fortunately for us, there was barely any line when we arrived even though it was a hot summer day. Even better, it's only about a one-hour walk from my house. The service was also fast and friendly and the employee who helped us was pleasant the whole time which added to the overall experience. I was especially impressed by the peanut butter soft serve. The flavor was rich and pronounced without compromising the smooth, creamy texture of the soft serve. It was everything I would want peanut butter soft serve ice cream to be. I was also surprised by how many soft-serve flavors they offer. Most places have only a few options, but there was plenty to choose from here. That said, it's hard for me to order anything other than the peanut butter soft serve now that I know how much I love it. One thing to know is that they do not offer free samples because the flavors are made to order. Something else to know is that the small sized cone held noticeably more ice cream than the small cup despite being the same price - so if you can I suggest the cone over the cup if you want more ice cream for the same price. I originally chose the cup because my hands weren't clean, but I later realized the cones come with a plastic protector around them anyway. All in all, this is one of those places that lives up to its reputation, and I highly recommend coming here if you are an ice cream aficionado.
Came on a rainy Sunday and the line was not too long! It moved quickly and the workers were really fast and efficient in trying to get everyone's order. I got the strawberry shortcake sundae and it was huge! I did not expect it to be so big so if you're looking to share something this would be it! It's a staple and delicious. I will be coming back to try to different flavors they got going on.
Simply the best. The only ice cream I can remember having that was better than this was the now-defunct Tastee Freez in Coraopolis from the 70s-90s. Page's really has taken things to the next level.
Hands down the best place in the Pittsburgh area for ice cream, sundaes, and other delicious indulgences! The staff is quick, patient, and friendly. Be prepared to wait in line, but it's worth the wait and you'll have time to decide what to order...
Pittsburgh favorite ice cream shop is opened for the season!! One of those ice cream shops where if someone mentions it, you have to go. With so many creative flavors, desserts, and toppings there is something for everyone here. On warm days, wait time can be up to an hour but I promise it's worth the wait. There are informational walls on Page's backstory as you get closer to the ordering wall and a huge menu to look at as you get closer as well. In additional to ice cream, they also serve quick American diner-esque bites, coffees, and drinks. The highlight is the ice cream but these options are not bad as well.
Great ice cream. Huge menu with tons of options and lots of flavors with big portions. The line was long but moved pretty quick. Huge history here and there is obviously a good reason they keep going 75 years later.
Best. Ice cream. Ever. Everything about this place is unforgettable! You won't find another ice cream spot like this- literally under a bridge, lol. The ambience, the vibes, the super friendly service... all of it is impeccable. And the ice cream? Actually delicious. I recommend the ice cream nachos as well, but you can't really go wrong with anything you choose. I love trying new flavors, and so far my favorites have been any of their fall specials and Cookie Monster. Pages Dairy Mart is hands-down the place I miss the most in Pittsburgh. If you haven't tried it yet, you are seriously missing out- go immediately!
Wow, what an incredible staple of Pittsburgh! The history is plastered all over the outside, which you will have time to see as the line can get very long, but trust me, it's worth it. Their specialties are incredible, love that they use so many products from other local businesses, like the famed Nancy B Chocolate Chip cookies. They are somehow even better in their sundae, filled with warm chocolate syrup and soft serve. Plus the energy and vibes are super great, especially in the summertime! Really can't go wrong with anything here, just make sure to try it at least once!
Long long long time fan, first time reviewer. I typically order the same thing but switched it up this last time I went. The Nancy B arctic swirl was so delicious, and I asked them to make it with peanut butter ice cream - definitely the move. This was from opening day this season, so I waited in line for about 30 minutes. This is the only dessert place I care to wait in any crazy line for. No matter how crazy busy this place gets, the staff always has high spirits and genuinely seems happy to be there. I've been coming here all my life and I'll keep coming as long as I can :)
6/28/25 Ate List: Cookie Dough Arctic Swirl - 9.3 Ice Cream Sandwich - 8.2 This might be the best ice cream (as a whole experience) I've ever had. You think ice cream and you want an old school shop, the neon lights, the ice cream that tastes like childhood. This spot checks all the boxes and somehow the ice cream tastes like the best one you remember from childhood. Arctic Swirls, blizzards, flurries, whatever you call it - their cookie dough Arctic swirl was amazing. One of the best I've ever had. The ice cream sandwich was perfectly chilled - not falling apart, not leaving the hands sticky. Flavor was perfection. Costs were a steal and frankly anything I've tried on the menu here makes me want to both explore the menu and never deviate from the amazing dish I know. The best problem to have. This institution is worth all the hype. Isn't summer in Pittsburgh without a stop here.
This is my favorite thing on the menu. There are so many great things to choose from but Potomac bakery has the best brownies in the city. Refroze this and ate it for a few days. Wish they were open year round!
One of the best ice cream places in Pittsburgh by far. The service is amazing and quick. It's very old fashioned location but reminds me of ice cream places past. Very nice place.

Very creamy and lots of options. Not artificial flavors and use fresh ingredients. Tastes homemade, efficient service considering how long the line is. Location is under a bridge so not very convenient. Large serving sizes, pretty good prices for what you get. read more

The food is hands down 10/10 delicious. The workers are so friendly, despite the continuous line. I'm only docking it one star because there is no where to eat (we ate on the back of my car/trunk) and the line was insane! It took 45 mins to order and then another 15 for the food. Maybe your best bet is going at an off-time, but this place is popular for a reason! read more
We've been by this place several times on 885 coming into Pittsburgh and during the summertime it is always packed. We stopped just around lunchtime on Saturday and we were 12 deep in line. We got there at a good time because the line eventually wrapped completely around the building within 30 minutes. The workers were young and friendly, and the quality of the ice cream and choices were phenomenal!!! Enjoy!!! read more
A Pittsburgh tradition for ice cream! This Page's location has been here since 1951, and locals are very loyal because of the high quality and nice variety of ice cream flavors and options available here. See my photos for lists of offerings. On this visit, my wife had a blueberry cone, and I got a Turtle sundae. Besides all the ice cream, Page's also has burgers, steak and chicken sandwiches plus other snacks. This is a very popular spot, so be prepared to stand in line for a short time. The wait will be worth it. read more
I wish I could count how many times I've been here. Can any of us though? This is one of my favorite places to take guests visiting from out of town (in season of course). The fact that the soft serve tastes as good as it did when I was a kid (if not better) is obviously the main attraction. They always have so many fun flavors and all kinds of different ice cream treats from the classics to the modern and even things you can't get anywhere else. Be prepared to wait online because it's a hugely popular spot...but well worth the wait! read more

A trip to Page's on a sunny afternoon... What a perfect day in Pittsburgh! I was lucky to get there when the line wasn't too long (though always worth the wait) and had to make the toughest decision of the day - what to order. Tempted by the Large Marge and the Strawberry Shortcake, I couldn't decide if I wanted hot fudge or strawberry... So I did what anyone would do - I ordered a Banana Split. This gave me hot fudge, strawberry, and pineapple over Page's delicious vanilla soft serve, topped with whipped cream and nuts. What a delightful treat on this hot, sunny day! Each bite of my Banana Split hit the spot. I can't wait until next time I'm in the neighborhood and can try something else off their tasty menu. So many options!!! Maybe next time I'll try the Raspberry Almond Torte Sundae ... Mmm sounds delicious! read more

I always knew about Pages ice cream but never stopped by. They have been in business for over 73 years. Got my chance this week, and the reviews are definitely true. Their menu is huge, but I went with a couple of soft serve flavors of the month. First was key lime pie. Outstanding with pie crust mixed throughout. The second choice was cookies and cream. Equally delicious. The small line moved quickly as they have a system in place. Parking can be a little challenging. Service was good. Should be on every ice cream lovers list. read more

Is it good? Yes. Is it worth standing in line 30 minutes for? Debatable. Also, social distancing signs present but not observed. People, on top of people. This was my first Page Dairy Mart experience. Parking, tricky. Line, long. Mind you, this was a Sunday evening around 730PM. If I return, it will be mid-day. Unfortunately, I think You'll always run into a long line here. Our ice cream was pretty good. I had the "Yinzer Sundae" and my fiancé had the "Hot cookie Sundae" both were very good, and a little under $7 each. If I had to choose, I would to with the Yinzer Sundae because they use a blonde brownie from pastries al a carte, which is one of my favorite bakeries! They also had a puppy bone to throw in to my four legged babies dessert. read more
Best ice cream in Pittsburgh. It's an experience to wait in line looping around the building on a warm summer night. Staff is always nice. I got a vanilla soft serve with rainbow jimmies in a waffle cone. Simple but delicious. They line the inside of the cone with sprinkles too, so you still have some as you finish the cone, and it gives the cone an extra crunch. Genius! I also love their fruity pebbles arctic swirl. Thank you Page's! read more
This sundae was absolutely delicious I wish I could eat it all the time. Definitely well worth the price and you get so much!! The workers were all super friendly. I loved this sundae so much that I have already been back. The atmosphere was lovely and while there was a long line it was well worth the wait! read more

Pages! This is one of the backbones of Pittsburgh and has fully satisfied every post-dinner, mid-day, and early-afternoon craving for ice cream! This is a local, family-run place that has excellent vibes and great service! From Arctic swirls to their classic sundaes, there's something for everyone! My favorites are the fruity pebble soft serve, cold brew Sundae (courtesy of Big Dog), and a peach milkshake (pro tip: add cheesecake bites). There are also some fun shaved ice options! There is an ATM, but they take cards! The line tends to wrap around the building when it gets super busy, and there's usually plenty of space to park around! read more
Now, I've had a lot of ice cream in my life... But Pages is more than an ice cream, it's A LOT OF ICE CREAM It's also a cute drive a little out of the main part of town with a wholesome vibe once you get there. Feels like a local spot with lots of history. Do yourself a favor and go on our there (but not in the late-fall/winter because they close for the season) read more

So many options and flavors. Always hits. Be prepared for a super long line. The service was really quick and amazing. They were super attentive to my boyfriend's egg allergy and told us they would completely clean the machine before making his milkshake which we appreciated. I wish they did have more tables and chairs to sit at when you get your icecream. read more

Well, we finally made our way to Page's. I'd never been there before, so I had no idea what to get. We got there around 9:00 pm on a Sunday, and they close at 10:00. We did have to wait in line for about 40 minutes, but the night was pleasant, there are lots of informational signs to read and look at on the building itself, and it was well worth the wait! The creaminess of the ice cream cannot be matched. The Strawberry Shortcake had real strawberries in it that still had a crispness to them, and the Key Lime Pie wasn't too tart and the graham cracker crumbles just made it! What a cute place to meet up for some of the creamiest ice cream around! read more

Always a great treat. The Nancy B cookie sundae is huge and delish. There is almost always a line wrapped around the building but the service is quick. Parking is tight and there are a few benches to sit on outside of the shop to enjoy your ice cream. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu! read more

While there's usually a line, this ice cream is worth the wait! My go-to is the South Side shake - a milkshake with a sundae on top! They have the most extensive ice cream menu, with something for every taste. They even have some dairy-free options, too, which my husband said was delicious. If you want to avoid a line, stop by on a rainy day. read more

This place is seriously amazing. Some of the best ice cream I've had maybe ever. The menu is so diverse and they have something for everyone. During this crazy time Page Dairy Mart closed shortly after they opened this year. After a few weeks they reopened using a website where you can order and pay online! www.pagedairymart.net It was so easy to order and pickup. We parked at a pickup number and an employee came to see our name and brought our ice cream right to our car. We were so happy to get our favorite treat. We will definitely be back to do another pickup and I hope that they keep this option in some form when they reopen fully. read more

This place has me coming back all the time. The soft serve is still delicious, and I feel like the toppings/varieties are just continuing to grow. Pick a flavor that you love and you can't go wrong. Expect long waits in the evenings. My only complaint every visit was that there was no outside menu to help me decide which delicious treat I was going to indulge in. (I would usually have to peak through the windows to make a last minute decision). But Lo behold. read more

Major fail. If this place is supposed to be a great representation of Pittsburgh's offerings... Pittsburgh is in trouble. :( It was a hot night. So of course we wanted ice cream. Dude... the soft serve was just a melted mess!! It was more like a gross milkshake cuz it was so liquidy. But it also tasted like hell. I ordered a coffee arctic w heath bar candy. How dare she claim that it's like a blizzard!?! This thing was nowhere near a blizzard! I could mix ingredients better at home. And w better flavor. Then... the kid ordered the mango soft serve. The server said, "we dont have mango." We had to point it out to her on the menu. They dont offer samples. She said, its "probably" good. Um... no... it was not good at all. It was so disgusting that my kid couldnt even eat it. And we NEVER throw away ice cream!! Tip to the business: if your soft serve is a hot melted mess... dont open your doors until you fix your refrigeration problem. read more

I've been waiting so long to come to Page's and already knew I'd order a Nancy B's chocolate chip cookie sundae. It didn't disappoint-- tons of hot fudge, whipped cream, creamy soft serve and warm cookie pieces. I love that they have so many types of milkshakes, sundaes and arctic swirls -- I'd love to come back and try the raspberry almond torte sundae or one of their pumpkin roll arctic blasts I've heard they have in the fall! read more

Page's is a legendary Pittsburgh ice staple. I've been a patron for over 20 years and have literally never had anything less than an an excellent experience. Spring isn't really here until Page's opens, and nice weather is truly over when they close for the season. Autumn really starts when Page's releases their fall menu. I don't know when it happened, but they have started taking cards instead of being cash only. Thank goodness! Further, they've really done a lot to create a more orderly line with signage and barriers. If you find yourself in the back of a line that's wrapped around the building you get to see photos of the history of the business/location and some unique decorative elements like color changing lit milk bottles and old school milk cans. There's even a QR code for the menu in the back so you can browse while you're waiting. The line really does go fast, so I wouldn't let it's length discourage you. Now for the ice cream! What can be said besides EVERYTHING is excellent. They've even greater a milkshake with a sundae on top of it. Many menu items feature ingredients from other Pittsburgh treasures, like Nancy B's chocolate cookies for sundaes, seasonal apple butter from Triple B Farm, and Oakmont Bakery maple sticks. They know how to make a good thing even better. Today I got the pumpkin roll arctic swirl which is topped with a slice of actual pumpkin roll. It doesn't get better. The kids size cups are also a really reasonable size for little little kids like mine who sometimes find themselves in a puddle of chocolate soup before they can power through the whole thing. read more

Paige Dairy Mart will blow you away. The ice cream is really out of this world and totally worth the hype. Be sure to bring cash when you visit! I always opt for an arctic swirl and my all-time favorite has been the pumpkin pie. In the fall they make a delicious pumpkin ice cream and it has me looking forward to fall already! The banana bread arctic swirl is also a favorite because it contains real banana bread!! I have had many other delicious arctic swirls and never met one that I didn't like. My boyfriend also really enjoys their coffee soft serve. It is made with coffee from Big Dog Coffee in the southside. I love that Paige Dairy Mart uses local ingredients in their recipes! read more

It's always ice cream o clock for me! And Page is the reason why! A family owned and operated treasure, Page is one of the oldest soft serve places in Pittsburgh. I took my parents here and they loved it! We ordered a vanilla chocolate twist topped with nuts, coffee soft serve and blueberry soft serve. They were all delicious! The best part is that it's not very sweet and heavy. The portion size is good and not overwhelming. We ordered small size with waffle cone. There has always been a queue but it's a fast moving one. Great staff as well. There is enough place in front of the store to park and chill. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Even though it was freezing out when we came to get our ice cream, our second experience was better than the first. Music from loudspeakers kept us entertained while we waited, distanced, in the long line of masked customers. It moved relatively quickly for how labor intensive it is to make custom ice cream orders. This time the server rang us up immediately, and there is a separate area for waiting for your order. Hubby had a small raspberry sundae, and I had a small turtle sundae. It was just the right amount, and so good. We ate in our car with the heat on and plan to be back if we're in the neighborhood. read more
