Great location for a college campus. Staff was friendly and service was quick! There's a small seating area and I like the decor. The searing area would be nice for a quick ice cream run. Giving 2 stars for value. Dang, I got a dirty chai latte and it was $5.89 for 12oz and the cup is not full. I guess I'd pay that much at Starbucks but at least I'd know the drink was full. It tastes below average so I will just go to redhawk up the street to get a coffee next time. read more

Solid icecream spot for a Pitt student. They had some unique flavors like apple sorbet, and I believe they do switch it out monthly but don't quote me on that. Girl behind the counter was sweet and let us sample. I ordered the brownie batter with a cone. It was a bit too heavy for me but still pretty good. read more

Wonderful time stopping by on opening day! This location of Millie's is conveniently located on Pitt's campus. They have a variety of drinks including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and more! They also were serving 8 differently flavors of ice cream. The menu is very friendly to allergens, 4/8 flavors were dairy free, they sell lactaid, and they have a gluten free ice cream cone! They had other snack options too like charcuterie packets. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. Everyone was especially eager since it was opening day. I was able to try the ice cream and iced tea before ordering. I got the iced tea which was very refreshing and delicious. This location also has a gender neutral bathroom and some seating despite being a smaller shop. Overall a great place for your caffeine or sugar fix! read more

Cute ice cream shop in Oakland within walking distance of Pitt's campus! They offer rotating flavors and sell both dairy free & gluten free options. My favorite flavors are the dairy-free brownie batter, brownie delite, and lavender. Their brownie delite is milk chocolate flavored and loaded with huge chunks of chewy brownie, and the lavender tasted fresh and floral. They also have rich mango and coffee break flavors. Staff are very friendly and helpful in picking flavors. There is limited seating inside the shop, but there is seating outside by the street. I absolutely loved this place. Went there with my buddy tonight, and I did not regret it. I ordered a s'mores milkshake expecting it to be good, and boy, were my expectations exceeded. This was the single greatest milkshake that my tongue has ever grazed. I don't think I can go back to the eatery food truck ice cream ever again. And boy oh boy, was the staff just so kind. I have never felt more welcome in an establishment. Unfortunately her name escapes me at this moment, but I asked probably 30 questions about the ice cream, and every question was answered with gratitude and pride. I highly recommend coming to Millie's ice cream in Oakland. You will not be disappointed. read more

I tried this ice cream at a recent festival in Pittsburgh off of their food truck/bus. It was such a hot day and ice cream was absolutely needed. Although the line was long and constant, they never seemed to run out of flavors, and the ice cream was never melting (even in 100 degree weather). I am dairy free, so I was extremely excited to see that they had options for me, too. The festival was 2 days, and on the first day, I tried their dairy free mango. AMAZINGLY CREAMY for not being dairy free. It was so delicious that the next day I had to try another flavor (dairy free key lime). Once again- it was the most delicious ice cream I ever had. I am not from Pittsburgh, but I really wish they had a Millies near me in Philadelphia! read more

I stopped by on their opening day because they had a table out front. My family really likes their Shadyside location, and this Oakland location is really nice too - very tall ceilings and large menu on the wall. They have a lot more coffee / ice cream options. The people working here were very nice, and I tried the shamrock ice cream. It tasted good and fresh. I definitely plan to come again and to bring others when the weather warms up! read more

this ppl are going as hard as they can considering there's a line out the wahoo every time ya look at this place. flavors are pretty wicked don't mind that other chick who said they weren't that good. she ain't know. my cookies and cream milkshake was basic but delicious. i wanted to try the shirley temple sorbet but cowardice is my fatal flaw. 5/5 read more

They don't take cash, which is incredibly stupid. Also horrible prices and overall bad coffee. Service was okay and the ice cream looked good but it's 10:30 am couldn't give a recommendation on that. Won't be returning to try their over priced gluten free ice cream lol. Also they have cardboard/paper straws that pair perfectly with the one time use plastic cup and plastic lid. The coffee ice cream had great flavor, but all their flavors are solid too. The service was great, with only one person handling the front really well. Almost a couple dozen flavors were on display (e.g., pumpkin Oreo, strawberry, fruit cocktail, chocolate s'mores, keylime pie, Heath, and cookie dough). I ordered a cone with one scoop of Nutter Butter ice cream (5 stars) and one scoop of Oatmeal Raisin ice cream (4 stars). It cost several dollars. These scoops were a very large size and tasted good to excellent. I enjoyed my ice-cream cone. Some indoor seating was available. As I was leaving the shop, the employee thanked me and wished me a good day. One recommendation is to paint the walls a fun color other than white.

But they did have a nice selection of flavors (three cases full) and they the typical selection cups, cones, sundaes and milkshakes. They do not accept cash! It's an Oakland staple, glad they've remained open and in the same spot all these years.

CLASSIC SCOOP - 8.50 + "Strawberry Jam" and "Nutty Pistachio" I shared this with two of my friends since it came with two different flavors. This was incredibly large portions. It wasn't just one scoop of each flavor, but multiple scoops of each flavor in a big cup (16 oz). The strawberry jam had a bright sweetness that I enjoyed, and the nutty pistachio was really good and had some pistachio bits. Overall, thought the ice cream a bit too sweet for me, but it's pretty creamy with a variety of reliable flavors that people are familiar with.

My wife then asked in perfect English if the scoops were big so she could decide how many to order, but the corpulent, pathetic old slug of a "man" said "This is America", and refused to serve them. His accent was heavier and harder to understand than my wife's. I'm Caucasian and was born in the US. I enjoy meeting and befriending people from around the world. However, when an immigrant such as this jerk treats my immigrant wife as somehow lower, yeah, he's going to hear it from me. The coward hid in the back but I yelled loudly that I'm a native-born American and that he has no more right to be in this country than anyone else. I tried a sample of the ice cream before his bigoted hissy fit and it wasn't bad but there's MUCH better ice cream in Pittsburgh. They have a limited selection, too. Take your money elsewhere, this guy is trash.
