It was also mentioned that a thorough inspection was done prior to my purchase and that CRU vehicles are held to a high standard, hence their pricing is firm. I reached out to Todd via phone and email May 12, 2025 to discuss the issues below, with no response. Completed Repairs: Vacuum pump leaking; Vacuum Pump Gasket R&R = $584.78 Front Wheel Hub & Bearing Remove & Replace = $1,312.12 Front Drive Axle Remove & Replace (New-Remanufactured From Land Rover) = $2,101.51 Main Battery Test Failed; Remove & Replace Battery = $480.37 Needed Repairs: Hood shocks needed U joints leaking Low coolant in reservoir but no visible leaks Valve cover gaskets leaking Transmission pan leaking Both left and right high-pressure power steering lines leaking Front differential leaking Remove & Replace Battery (Stop/Start) There was also an issues with the title where the incorrect title was provided to me, which caused confusion at the DMV. This issue was an inconvenience but rectified within 10 days. Elaine was my sales rep and she was very helpful and responsive.

I wasn't actively shopping for a car, and the last time I had contacted this dealership was over 60…read moredays earlier. A salesperson reached out to me off-system, from a personal phone, saying they "had a car for me." Naturally, I asked what car and what the price was. That's a normal response to sales outreach -- curiosity, not consent. While that informal conversation was happening, I received a real-time alert that my credit had been pulled. I never authorized a credit check, never said I was ready to move forward, and never submitted a new application. When I questioned it, instead of an explanation or apology, I was asked to send more personal documents despite clearly stating I wasn't ready. What made this worse was the lack of professionalism afterward -- defensiveness, shifting explanations, and no accountability. The entire situation stemmed from informal, off-system sales tactics being treated as implied consent, which they are not. This experience was confusing, inappropriate, and avoidable. I'm sharing it so others know to be very clear -- and very cautious -- when dealing with this dealership.

Westside Automotive - Keith, always manning the front desk

I began taking my vehicles to Westside Automotive around six years ago. From that first visit, and…read moreinteracting with Wayne and Keith and the rest of the guys at different points... I knew it was the kind of establishment that took the job seriously and who maintained clear communication with their customers, listening to them, understanding their needs, even if it's something small, or on a larger scale. At one point, I took in a new headlight control, one that would allow me to have auto off and on for my headlights, which my current vehicle did not have. I had pre-purchased this, because it was a custom control. I brought in my purchase, and asked if it was OK to request just the shop hours entailed in installing it. They said yes, with the caveat that they were not the ones who researched it or purchased it so if it turns out that it didn't fit, or it didn't work, then they would let me know, and we'd move on from there. (For what it's worth, it installed perfectly, and works perfectly. Just what I asked for.) That's just one example of the consideration extended to their clients. Which also extends to offering loaner vehicles when and if needed. I have been to many auto shops in the past. And I have had interactions with many shop owners, and maintenance crew. And for every time I did that I came in with a bit of hyper awareness, because I am a woman, and I know how we can be treated and how some shops like to add on, mentioning scary things that could happen to the vehicle and that "we need to take care of right away." I have never felt that during any of our interactions. They have always shown me the entire worksheet, along with estimated costs for each line item. And if any questions, always took the time to answer them. In some cases, I said, if I could only do two things right now, what are the two primary things that should be covered, and they had no problems in explaining these are the two most important for now, to keep your vehicle in good standing. But be aware and be thinking about taking care of these other things. And that's it. No pressure, just pure explanation and experienced recommendations. I cannot recommend the experience, customer service levels, and the quality of work offered by Westside Automotive highly enough.

I've trusted this auto repair shop for years with all of our family's cars, but this last visit was…read morethe worst experience we've ever had. My mom brought her car in because it was hesitating to accelerate past 50 mph. After paying $189 for a diagnostic service, the mechanic first said the engine had failed and even gave her a quote for a full engine replacement. Later, the story changed -- first to a catalytic converter issue and then again to something else. When she picked up the car, it was in worse condition than before. It wouldn't go over 10 mph, and they admitted they already knew it was running that way but still let her drive it into traffic without warning her. The only reason they looked at the car again was because it came back in such bad shape. They were combative when we asked questions, and the engine cover wasn't even secured afterward. This used to be a shop we trusted, but the lack of accountability, inconsistent diagnostics, and disregard for safety were unacceptable. If you're looking for honest mechanics and reliable diagnostics, I would strongly suggest taking your vehicle elsewhere.

I have always been an advocate for third-party mechanics with a good reputation versus chain stores…read moreor dealers for auto repairs. Lam's is an example of one of these mom and pop owned shops with a highly seasoned mechanic and offers solid customer service. They rely on repeat and referral business, while not being not commission driven, and so they won't try to upsell you on things you don't need. Anything Lam finds to be a potential issue, he spends time to show and explain to you why it may need repairing. That is a sign of a good mechanic - the opposite would be a random Jiffy Lube kid telling you your transmission is busted and needs a $1000 repair, or that all of your air filters are dirty (while they show you a random old dirty filter that's not even from your car). Repairs that Lam has done for our family including replacing brake rotors, pads, struts/mounts, shocks, timing belt & water pump, radiator, transmission/oil/brake/power steering fluid changes, power steering pump, valve cover gasket, PCV valve. Lastly, because I have used Lam as a primary mechanic for about 10 years, starting with my first car - a 1997 Acura Integra to my next two - 2004 Civic and 2007 RAV4, I have never had any major issues or surprise repairs - Lam has certainly identified potential issues and things to consider replacing within xyz miles but his labor pricing is VERY fair and he allows customers to bring their own parts (just be sure they are 100% compatible with your exact model). Highly recommended!

I decided to go to Lam's Auto Repair per a friend's recommendation and I'm really glad I did. Mr. Lam was able to inspect my car after I walked in on a Saturday morning. After 15 minutes he told me what was wrong and what needed to be done. I unfortunately also bought the wrong headlights but he was able to find some to replace them with in the shop. I decided to walk over to the lovely restaurants nearby while I waited and I was luckily able to get my car fixed within hours. His prices are very reasonable and he was very kind. The customer service was definitely worth driving across town for!
