I've trusted this auto repair shop for years with all of our family's cars, but this last visit was the worst experience we've ever had. My mom brought her car in because it was hesitating to accelerate past 50 mph. After paying $189 for a diagnostic service, the mechanic first said the engine had failed and even gave her a quote for a full engine replacement. Later, the story changed -- first to a catalytic converter issue and then again to something else. When she picked up the car, it was in worse condition than before. It wouldn't go over 10 mph, and they admitted they already knew it was running that way but still let her drive it into traffic without warning her. The only reason they looked at the car again was because it came back in such bad shape. They were combative when we asked questions, and the engine cover wasn't even secured afterward. This used to be a shop we trusted, but the lack of accountability, inconsistent diagnostics, and disregard for safety were unacceptable. If you're looking for honest mechanics and reliable diagnostics, I would strongly suggest taking your vehicle elsewhere. read more

I began taking my vehicles to Westside Automotive around six years ago. From that first visit, and interacting with Wayne and Keith and the rest of the guys at different points... I knew it was the kind of establishment that took the job seriously and who maintained clear communication with their customers, listening to them, understanding their needs, even if it's something small, or on a larger scale. At one point, I took in a new headlight control, one that would allow me to have auto off and on for my headlights, which my current vehicle did not have. I had pre-purchased this, because it was a custom control. I brought in my purchase, and asked if it was OK to request just the shop hours entailed in installing it. They said yes, with the caveat that they were not the ones who researched it or purchased it so if it turns out that it didn't fit, or it didn't work, then they would let me know, and we'd move on from there. (For what it's worth, it installed perfectly, and works perfectly. Just what I asked for.) That's just one example of the consideration extended to their clients. Which also extends to offering loaner vehicles when and if needed. I have been to many auto shops in the past. And I have had interactions with many shop owners, and maintenance crew. And for every time I did that I came in with a bit of hyper awareness, because I am a woman, and I know how we can be treated and how some shops like to add on, mentioning scary things that could happen to the vehicle and that "we need to take care of right away." I have never felt that during any of our interactions. They have always shown me the entire worksheet, along with estimated costs for each line item. And if any questions, always took the time to answer them. In some cases, I said, if I could only do two things right now, what are the two primary things that should be covered, and they had no problems in explaining these are the two most important for now, to keep your vehicle in good standing. But be aware and be thinking about taking care of these other things. And that's it. No pressure, just pure explanation and experienced recommendations. I cannot recommend the experience, customer service levels, and the quality of work offered by Westside Automotive highly enough. read more

I've heard so many good things about this shop, but always relied on dealer service for my older model sedan. This time, after a dealer quote of $3800 for a new master brake calendar, I decided to call Westside Automotive. They quoted me an approximate $850. They tracked down the part (not easy to find for an 2004 vehicle). And we waited for delivery. Finally, after 2 weeks, the part came in late Friday. Tuesday morning they called to tell me the car was ready. The brakes feel nice and secure. No mush from air in the lines. So, here we have an exceptional repair shop which works hard to save you money. And does the work right. I wish I had found them earlier. read more

Keith and team are very reliable and responsive here at Westside Automotive. My car battery had died and luckily I was able to jump start it and bring it here in the afternoon. I got texts while my car was there giving me details on what they had found, also checking other aspects of my car just in case like the starter or alternator had any issues, and confirmed the battery to use with me before installing. I was able to get my car back the same day with no issues. Wow!!! I have found the ultimate Automotive repair shop. Very helpful and reasonably priced. I went in to see how much a brake job would cost and waited for an estimate. KEITH is so very helpful and professional. As I was waiting, I heard the interaction with other clients. I was given an estimate and I was extremely happy with the estimate. He told me to bring my car in the next day so he could secure the parts. I was so content with the estimate, I decided to have them do an oil change, tire rotation and service the ac. PEDRo gave me a ride home and a few hours later, he came to pick me up after my car was ready. I'm physically challenged and he is very helpful to ensure my safety. I've used Westside automotive about 4-5 times at this point and each experience has been, hands down, the best I've ever encountered with a mechanic. As someone who knows absolutely nothing about cars, besides very basic required maintenance, I feel as though they are some of the most honest individuals in the city. For example, my car was having issues starting and I had it towed to them. They ran a diagnostic check and could not find anything. At my discretion, they tried for a couple of days and ultimately told me that nothing appeared to be wrong - my car was starting and running perfectly fine. They didn't attempt to find something they could charge me for and I only paid for the test that they ran and the tow, which I believe is completely fair as they did spend time on my vehicle. This has been my experience every single time. They're never looking to find something that they can replace to charge their customers for a repair that their vehicle may not need; they aren't attempting to take advantage of anyone; they're always honest. Furthermore, their customer service is fantastic. I've scheduled oil changes and state inspections through their website and they've gotten back to me in under 24 hours each time (usually they get back to me the same day and within a few hours at most). I've spoke to Wayne and Andy on the phone and they've always taken as much time as needed for me to request a service, ask questions, and for them to explain anything to me that needs to be explained. Despite them being constantly busy, they've never attempted to rush me off the phone and I've never been left hanging calling with no response. I highly recommend using Westside Automotive. I brought my 2016 Volvo XC 90 into Westside Automotive to diagnosis the check engine light. They found nothing wrong with the vehicle... They told me that the vehicle needed an oil change so to be fair I went w/ them at a premium rather than go to my normal oil change place. A few weeks later the check engine light turned back on. This is when the problems started. Westside Automotive misdiagnosed the problem and after several trips and failed attempts to fix my vehicle (replace spark plugs, gaskets) they told me that they could not fix my vehicle. I wound up going to the Volvo dealership and having it repaired there. On recommendation from the Volvo dealership, I contacted the owner of Westside Automotive, Wayne Davey, requesting a refund for the "repairs" that actually did not fix my vehicle. I have several documented emails going back and forth with him. My perspective is he took on a job and did not fix the vehicle. Yet charged me for "repairs". He insultingly tried to get me to accept ~half the amount refunded. Even after admitting that he understands my frustrations, and that the repairs they conducted did not resolve my vehicles issues. I even had my wife try to contact him to get the refund with NO response. I'm hoping that this review will get a response. *note, the mechanics were very friendly but ownership is suspect. read more

I would not recommend this service shop. I had my Audi towed into this place because my car would not start. They texted me and said they were having problems diagnosing the problem and would charge me extra time to figure out what the problem was. Several weeks, later I got a text saying the EMC was not taliking to the starter and could not be programmed because the EMC has been already programmed twice and they could not fix the problem. Therefor I needed to have the car towed to the dealer because no one else could fix the problem. They charged me $500 for the advice and $75 for the tow and my car remains "not fixed." total scam operation. AVOID read more

How often do you get an automotive shop that tells you that you DON'T need a repair?? After having a quite terrible experience at Sterling McCall Toyota, where they were recommending a transmission replacement on my 9 year old car for a simple solenoid error, I found these guys. They spent all day diagnosing the problem, only to find that Toyota had never checked the car properly and it was a loose wire! At the end of the day, they sent me off happy as a clam that I didn't have to have a costly transmission repair or replacement. They even applied a bunch of software updates that Toyota Service had failed to do. It's a bit of a drive, but if my car breaks for real I'm coming back here! Nobody wants to write a review about your car needing repair, but that's also who you should be writing one about right!! Well my Bessie, an 11yr old Camry, broke down on me in the middle of rush hour on a busy street - but that's another story. After doing some research I found this place and they were near my house. They had good reviews so that was a bonus too. I called them up and they said they could check her out. They were very friendly and they gave me a quote to have her towed, but I did find a better deal for about 15.00 bucks cheaper. I realize it's just 15 bucks, but when you've just spent 650.00 bucks on your car just one week ago it all starts to add up. Now granted, they did NOT do the previous repairs costing me that money. I had a gut feeling it was the alternator since it went electrical haywire and died while running, then did the 'dead battery' start. This wasn't my first alternator rodeo either ... you'd think I would know how to change my own by now! So I talk to the guys and let them know what happened, left my keys and number, then went about my day. I got a call later and they said they thought it was just my battery. I said that's weird - I just got a new one last year - and the car died while running. But hey, I'm not a trained mechanic. We discussed the thought process of this and I said OK to getting a new one. Several hours later I received a second call stating, nope it's the alternator. REALLY?? You don't say???!!! I was kinda peeved by this, but they said they'd put a new one in and not charge me labor. Total cost for new battery (which they said I still needed) and the alternator was just under 500.00. I think the price was fair and what I expected. They were really nice guys to work with too. The car has been running fine so far, though my check engine light came on for about 6 hours one day - but hey it's off again - so I don't have to worry RIGHT?? ;) I'm always weary about mechanics, but I'd give them a call again if needed. read more

I brought my BMW here because I was having issues with my engine. The mechanics here walked me through the issues and was very patient and friendly. Andy was very sincere and genuine with all the recommendations and always made sure the issues was fixed before letting me know my car was ready. Called ahead and let them know I had a misfire in cylinders 1 and 4 that caused my check engine light to be on and they weren't able to figure out what was going on, (even though I told them) they charged me over $800 for repairs that had nothing to do with my engine yet assured me that these repairs were the cause of my breakdown and simply cleared my check engine light. I even asked at checkout if I could come back if there were still issues with my check engine light and was assured that I could and they told me to text them about another repair they noticed with my oil pan. I came back in because my check engine light came on again and let them know the same thing was happening and they attempted to charge me $300 extra for more repairs even though I was coming in with the same issue. I then had 4 men gang up on me aggressively telling me that I had a misfire in cylinders 1 and 4, (which is what I had initially told them) and that i was lying about having the same issue as the last time I had visited and that i should be worried about other repairs instead even though i had stated that my engine misfire is what i was concerned about and what had me on the side of the road. I decided not to go through with the engine repairs with them because this had ultimately let me know i couldnt trust them any longer. However i texted as I was informed to do about the oil pan because they seemed to be mainly based as an oil changing company and they were ultimately non responsive which i found to be rude since I had shown nothing but patience, grace, and understanding to these mechanics. Went to Ed's Car Care instead and recieved a fair price and complete transparency and honesty. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Amazing service. I walked in sure that my Lexus required a new caliper at the very minimum due to a horribly loud noise the car was making. I even communicated this to the staff at Westside. After waiting in the lobby for twenty minutes, they came back and told me that my car was ready...at no charge. These guys could've easily "taken me for a ride", but they got the tire off, found the quick fix, and got me back rolling. This was my first time having my Toyota Camry serviced at Westside Automotive, and decided to give them a try when my engine light came on, and the car would act like it was going to cut off. Based on the Yelp reviews, that prompted me to bring my car there for service. Andy was super nice and walked me thru what was going on with the ignition coil, and how when changing the spark plugs, can easily get damaged if not careful on the Toyotas. They diagnosed the ignition coil and the connectors that were burning out from the damaged coil. They were able to fit me in on a day they were full, quote me for the service, which was in line with what I researched online. And so far, it seemed to have solved my issue. I think I have found my new repair shop for my car close to home. And on top of that, they washed my car...big bonus for me, as I hating washing my car. I have used Westside Automotive now for at least four time last week to fix a power window. My next visit will be to install LED headlight essemblies. I was having troubles with my AC in my vehicle. I called prior to stopping by the shop to see if they would have time to give me an estimate. Very friendly guys! I went on my lunch break and I was just going to Uber back to work, but they offered to drive me to work. I received my estimate within an hour & they fixed my AC within 2-3 hours and had my car ready by the time I got off from work! My husband had a great experience with communication to the mechanics as to what his needs were. The mechanic that he was interacting with gave great feedback and reassured him that the situation could be resolved. The shop had my vehicle for about 2 days. They fixed the issue the price was to be expected and my car runs great. I definitely will be bringing my car back for my maintenance as well as any other issues that I may have in the future.
