After placing an order and having it confirmed only to find out half an hour later it was canceled because they're CLOSED. Delivery was fast and enjoyed most of my the food except noodles. The shrimp chow fun was all messed up, a large portion of broken noodles all stuck together. I'm a big fan of chow fun and this is the worst I tried. Instead of squashing so much stuff in a container box, put less portion and work on the presentation of your food. Out of all chinese places that I have so far in both upper east side and Astoria , this is by best Chinese American food. Vegetable are not over cook. Sauce to food portion is just perfect and not over powering. We generally order delivery, as the restaurant is a little out of the way. If you do go eat there, note that there isn't much sitting area don't expect anything fancy. Truly this is a hole in a wall. If you order certain amount, you get free sodas or something for free. For example: you order 2-3 dinner combs, you get two sodas for free. Note that you get 1 soda or egg roll with the choice of your comb. I found that lunch comb is pretty good deal. 3 lunch combs are approx. $15-18 dollars and the portion is slightly smaller than dinner, but pretty good deal. What to get: 1.Beef with broccoli 2.Sesame chicken 3.Boneless spare rib ( they don't deep fried, they grill it) and sauce on top 4. I was so pleasantly surprised when I ordered take out from here. It is s difficult to find a place that is affordable and has lots of flavor but does not make you feel sick after. This place is delicious!! I had the hot and sour soup, chicken dumpling, beef with broccoli and vegetable lo me in. Not a single dish disappointed me. The hot and sour soup was good and had lots of flavor (I always add a little duck sauce but it would have been great on its own). The chicken dumplings were pan fried to perfection and the dough wasn't too thick so you could actually enjoy the inside of the dumplings. Beef and broccoli was made with good quality meat and was very enjoyable. Lo Mein had a lot of flavor and was not too great greasy. Disappointed to say this is the worst tasting Chinese food I have had in a while.. I was craving sweet and sour pork and ordered the large portion, boy i received some DEEP fried pork balls with the batter being way too thick. The sauce, which was served in a separate container, is WAY too acidic, is almost neon pink in color and has a very weird taste to it. Needless to say the sauce does not blend well with the meat, and even if it did, it would have tasted horrible because both the sauce and the pork tasted off. I also ordered beef and broccoli, an extremely basic dish but the broccoli is undercooked, while the beef has a plasticky texture to it. Hate to leave a bad review for a small business, but I ordered from here based on the good Yelp reviews and they clearly don't reflect my experience. The food quality has to improve. read more

I don't usually do reviews but with this being my first I'd love to just share what this place means to me and why you should eat here. I've been ordering from Pacific Moon since I was about 13 and I'm 23 now so we're going on about a decade of after school memories, countless lunch specials and so many calls for delivery that they knew our order inside and out and always left us with something extra wether it be sodas or some rolls. I know that Chinese food restaurants often get lost in the sauce because of how accessible they are but all I know is that this spot stands out in quality and consistency time and time again. I've never had a bad meal, I've never had bad service and the moments I sit down for a quick bite it feels like a slice of life happening around me and I'm watching my own parents cook and idk it's a cozy feeling, and I appreciate it. I hope all of New York visits this spot someday, it's definitely a gem in my book. read more

Hands down the best Chinese takeout I've ever had. I've only been here twice, but I will continue to return even if it's out of my way. There's nothing negative about the term "Chinese takeout" -- it falls into its own category of Chinese food. Pacific Moon does an impressive job at delivering tasty meals with friendly service. This doesn't feel like a "hole in the wall Chinese joint" but instead more like you're having a home cooked meal. I've had the General Tso's Chicken and the Chicken with Broccoli -- both were excellent. The flavors were all there without the grease that you normally expect. In fact, this was the first time I finished an entire General Tso's Chicken order, which I usually don't because other places make it too oily and heavy. I ordered sesame chicken and sweet and sour pork and both combo meal. The lady picked up the phone and I asked for delivery. She said the minimum for my delivery distance is $20 for late night. It was 8:20 p.m. which is not that late for regular dinner time. I was a mile away from the restaurant. That is the common delivery distance for most restaurants that offers delivery. This is why I ordered two meals. I asked what kind of soda they have and she said coke. I was asking what other drinks they have bur she got frustrated for asking for more information because she said it is busy, this just debunks how it wasn't late night delivery. I guess late night delivery can be busy for chinese food restaurants. She said it will be 35-45 minutes. It took hour and half to get the food delivered to me. The delivery man said sorry for the late delivery. Here is a twist. The delivery man got mixed up the order and gave me wrong order. I noticed after I took one fork bite of fried rice. I immediately called the restaurant and the lady told me he will come back to me to swap the food. He arrived and I told him that I took a bite of the fried rice In the box. I believe I did not double forked it after the first bite but still it is touched that I told him to throw it away and I pointed to the garbage container next to the parking spot. He said he will have to take it back but I still insisted to throw it away. He threw it on the ground but it was not damaged at all but I thought he won't take it back since it was on the ground. That was my mistake that I did not stay to see him throw it away. I really hope he did not take it and served it to its customer. read more

After some more times having food from here, I want to retract my previous claim that you shouldn't go out of your way for it. If you don't eat Chinese-American takeout often and have it only a couple times a year like me, you definitely should just bite the bullet and come here for it. This is a complicated review, many things to take into account. I've only been here once and I don't anticipate coming back in less than a few months, so I think its time to lay the hammer down. Food - its fine. I had 2 brocs in my orange chicken and they weren't great. The chicken was nice and irregular, but the sauce was a little too syrupy. The fried rice was a little heavy but definitely not that yellow crap. Just food alone, I will start off with 3-stars. Menu is very large with some hard to find items. Also, the lunch menu has thing like orange chicken, something which is neeeeeever on a lunch menu. Also this one of the cheapest places like this. Give it a star. They also get a star because of the parking lot. How rare it is. And a third added star because the woman who works there is extremely nice. The food here is excellent! It is never greasy and you can tell that they use quality ingredients. The family that runs this place is very friendly and provides great service. We don't live within their delivery zone, but we regularly come here to pick up take-out. As far as Chinese takeout goes, this is definitely one of the better ones. Lady on the phone was extremely nice, delivery man apologized even though they were quite fast and arrived pretty quickly! Vegetable spring roll is better than most takeout, and the pan fried pork dumplings were really good. Normally the skin is super thick but these were thin and tasty. Everything came hot. My only complaint would be that the vegetable fried rice could have been a little saltier so I added it myself. Crab Rangoon is slightly on the sweet side.
