Pacific Catch - Sea Bass with curry & Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken were delish! So many flavors. - Seafood Near Me - Tustin, California

I recently had the unfortunate opportunity to dine at Pacific Catch which had only been open to the public for about five days. It was an experience I really don't want to go through again. From the moment we stepped inside and were greeted with an ambiance that could only be described as "second-rate Denny's." I knew we were in a new place with a poorly trained crew when I asked for a booth for our party and the host asked me how fast I could eat because he had a group coming in in about 40 minutes and they'd need the booth. ... seriously? Once the waitress finally showed up and we put in our drink order, we worked through the menu. As a new restaurant, I'd figure there'd be some extra choices that may come or go as time goes on. But there's more than one Pacific Catch, so you'd figure they'd have - at least - a pretty good idea of what to put on the menu. After browsing the menu, I picked out the Mexican Grill Seared Chili-Lime Shrimp, with Pork Belly Musubi Rolls as an appetizer. I got my iced tea and put in my order. While time can seem to go kind of slowly while you're waiting for your food to show up, I was lucky; the booth I had was right next to the restrooms, so I had a great show as there was constant traffic in and out. As I got about halfway through my iced tea, the appetizer showed up. The pork belly musubi roll appetizer was a complete disaster. The combination of dry, chewy pork belly, crunchy pineapple, cucumber, and bland rice left me questioning why anyone would think it was a good idea to put these ingredients together. The wrapper, though, it really brought the appetizer together. I mean that literally. It was impossible to bite through and had the consistency of pre-chewed bubblegum. I was done with my iced tea when the meal finally showed up. The seared chili-lime shrimp was accompanied by "'elote' corn, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, cilantro, tortilla chips, tomatillo dressing, lime crema, base 1/2 brown rice, 1/2 mixed organic greens." The corn and beans were cold. Not 'room temperature' but - actually - cold. I mentioned this to the waitress while waving my empty iced tea glass around in a subtle "hey, look! I'm out of tea!" kind of way. My food was returned to the kitchen while my guests began eating their meals. The waitress said the manager felt bad about my experience and asked if I'd like an appetizer while I waited even longer for my food. I opted for the Sticky Ribs, which are pan-glazed Korean-style pork ribs with sesame seeds and scallions. Having resigned myself to never getting a refill on my iced tea, I stole my friend's water, and dug into the ribs. They were microwave-hot on the outside and cold as you took a bite and got close to the bone. Not only were they served at a wildly variable temperature depending on where you took a bite, but they lacked any tenderness or flavor. I had the feeling I was eating leftover ribs that I forgot were in the fridge. The sticky sauce didn't add any sweetness; it just seemed like it was added to mask the blandness of the dish. When the main dish was re-delivered, it turned out to be merely mediocre. The seared chili-lime shrimp was disappointingly average. The flavors were bland and unremarkable, lacking any kind of "zest" you'd expect from chili, lime, or searing of shrimp. The rest of the dish was equally as 'meh' as the main shrimp part. The mixed greens were dull and tasteless, and the rice was dry. Overall, my experience at Pacific Catch was a disappointment. From the subpar ambiance to the lackluster food, it fell far short of even the most basic expectations. If a dining experience could be summed up in a single color, this meal would have been beige. I'd recommend finding a restaurant that values quality and customer satisfaction because Pacific Catch doesn't seem to care. As an aside: we did finish eating within the 40 minutes allocated to us for that table by the host. ... I never did get a refill on my iced tea. read more

Wow! We were lucky to be invited to their soft opening and I must say they did not disappoint! We have been (I'm)patiently waiting for Pacific Catch in Tustin to open since we seen they were under construction this past December. From the moment you enter through the entrance you are greeted with friendly staff. Our server Kelsey was the best server by far! She was so attentive to us, gave the perfect recommendations and was amazing all around! She definitely helped make our experience at this location phenomenal. For the appetizer we had the pork belly masubi's and they did not disappoint. With every bite, you can taste every flavor that was wrapped together, from the sauce, to the pork belly, and pineapple. It was to die for! We had the Korean bbq bowl with steak as our entree and OMG, it was incredible! The steak was cooked to perfection! I have no idea how they did it. The portions were huge and lucky for us we came ready to eat. This plate is definitely a staple item and a must try! The Brussels sprouts were so delicious and nicely crisped. The kimchi rice and egg were amazing! Now the dessert! Omg that dulce cream cheese with gelato was so good and I don't even like ice cream. We devoured the dessert within seconds! Every single item we had today was so good! They will be having their doors officially open on Monday and we will be right there waiting! read more

Pacific Catch - Chilean Sea bass Tacos with black beans and chips and salsa - Seafood Near Me - Tustin, California

Ordered togo: Korean surf and turf only had 3 small pieces of skirt steak, little rice, an egg, and 4 prawns. The remaining was the side dishes, this is Definitely not worth the price. The flavors were tasty, but portions and price was not worth it. West coast salmon this had a bigger portion, but def overpriced. California rolls for the kids. Wow it's sad to have kids complain about the roll. 1 roll barely had any avocado and both rolls were poorly rolled and both left with end pieces. Definitely not consistent and poorly executed. This was a a Togo order and the 1st staff didn't help at all.. Was waiting over 15 mins for them to complete the order even though the order was ordered in ahead of time. Asked 1st staff to grab wasabi and ginger and nope nothing, still standing there and still stood there... finally another staff came and grabbed what I thought I asked for. When I got home, no wasabi or ginger... read more

For those of you that remember Bonefish Grill, Pacific Catch is a great replacement, if not better! The menu has tons of seafood options as well as stuff for non-seafood eaters. My girlfriends and I came here on a Saturday evening and only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated on a booth outside. There are tons of heaters so we were pretty comfortable. Our server greeted us right away, took our drink orders and we had the following: Pupu platter - this was an appetizer we shared and it came with sticky ribs, coconut shrimp, spicy salmon sushi tacos, guac and chips. This was DELISH!! Everything was so good! My girlfriends ordered sushi and a sushi bowl and I got the steak tacos. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and the cocktails were nice and strong. Service was solid and the food was great. I highly recommended trying out Pacific Catch! read more

This was my third time at the restaurant and every single meal has been great, from happy hour times to normal dinner times. Seafood is great, prices reasonable for the quality of food, and bonus was our waitress last night, Sarah! Sarah was probably one of THE best servers I have ever had. She gave us great recommendations, checked up on use regularly, was able to split the bill in our group, and overall was just so friendly and personable. I even asked if she worked elsewhere because I would seriously go visit just because she really made our dinner with my group of friends that memorable! But shoutout to Sarah! For dinner I had the West Coast Salmon bowl and the rest of my party had the Ahi Poke bowl, fish tacos, and some margaritas. The food was fresh and filling. Highly recommend whether you're on a date night, family dinner, or just hanging with a group of girl friends like I did last night. read more

Viviana G. was our server and she was excellent in every respect. She took great care of our family of 5 and one half.

The service was fantastic. Ambience like a huge mess hall. Loud with only a few patrons. Food. Let's talk food. My order of coconut shrimp was heavily salted. Batter tasteless. Flavoring all wrong. I know every restaurant has their take on this dish. There's was served with a dip of what tasted like canned sweet and sour sauce. Tiny shrimp , not the super large I expect. Friend had sushi. Also, appeared to be prepared in volume. A disappointment. It's a fast food place, dressed up to be a restaurant. read more

Mathew and Brittany were awesome . The food was incredible and service was amazing will definitely recommend this restaurant.

I came to Pacific catch at 6 PM on a Thursday and was immediately seated in the outside patio which I asked for. They have heaters which is nice for post sunset. I ordered tuna sushi which was decent. Definitely not the best sushi have ever had though. The two taco plate hit the spot in the waitress, was smart and recommending the yellow tail taco. It was between that and the shrimp. Fries for side was yummy. I was initially waiting for over 10 minutes to be served, but the hostess reminded the server I was her table. As a former waitress, I had no issue with the the wait and understand lol. But I can see a grumpy person being upset by that. Great ambiance! Post work drinks there would be a blast read more

Okay food, service needs improvement. Friday dinner, they have happy hour until 6 at the bar and outside. Decor is resort style and has a good atmosphere. Happy hour food has a few appetizers, ceviche, and sushi rolls. Ordered some food off the regular menu and happy hour menu. The pupu platter come with shishito peppers, guac poke, coconuts shrimp and a pork belly roll. All items on the platter we fine but the pork belly roll was poorly executed. kids fish and chips comes with fish, fries and broccoli for 12 bucks. Fish was not seasoned and it doesn't even come with tartar sauce. Make sure to ask for it. Overall the service was the most disappointing part. Ordered an appetizer platter and no sharing plates were brought, ordered sushi and no soy sauce. Had to ask for my drink twice before it was brought. Server was gone for most of the meal. No refills until I asked for them. Maybe the server was lacking or just need to be refined. Overall food is alright, but the lacking service makes this place 3 stars. read more

The ambiance feels like a vacation We've been there a couple of times already and the service was consistently good. We've tried the Coconut Shrimp, West Coast Style bowl with salmon, the tacos, and the Yellowtail Fresh catch plate. They were all tasty. Portions are generous. The regular size of the West Coast Salmon Bowl was too much food for me because I had ordered an appetizer as well. I took half of it home. We would definitely go back! read more

Took myself on a solo date and I decided to go to pacific catch for the first time ever. I sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender Bri. She took the time to explain each food option and recommended the poke trio and the siracha tacos (I had three). I also order the guavarita and an IPA she recommended as well. She was super welcoming, funny and very charasmatic and made my first time there the best experience. I have found my new place to eat and chill I will be back again!! read more

I couldn't get into the food. I don't know why I thought ordering sushi here would be a good experience because it definitely was not. I got a simple Cali roll for my daughter and it was not good. I know they use Real crab instead of imitation crab but the crab tasted off. The shrimp tempura.....lord. So gross. Why fill 90% with pickled ginger. It tasted awful. After trying those rolls I knew immediately the ceviche would suck just as bad and it absolutely did. Probably won't be back. Service was good tho! Food unfortunately was not my cup of tea sadly. read more

We dined here with a group and the cuisine is above average and the vibe is solid in the dining room. They had the door wide open in the evening hour possibly due to Covid numbers going up with summer travel or the evening cooling down pretty nicely. GUACAMOLE with TUNA POKE on top: -- nice tender tasty fish -- the guac is more smooth and thankfully no tomato chunks or onion visible for this heartburn sufferer -- well seasoned and a great rendition RATING = A COCONUT SHRIMP appetizer: -- great taste and flavor with orange chili dipping sauce? -- nice texture and crunch -- a great rendition of this popular app RATING = A SUSHI TACO in SEAWEED PAPER: -- an interesting app -- smooth and creamy for the most part -- quite tasty RATING = A- ICED WATERMELON FRESCA beverage: -- taste of lemon juice or lemonade which I do not like...not listed in ingredients included on menu -- pretty decent watermelon flavor RATING = B+ STRIPED SEA BASS w/CHIMICHURRI SAUCE: -- I advised the waiter I cannot do dry fish in any way and asked if they could cook it "medium rare" like some fancy restaurants will do...I knew it was a reach but had to ask. Later I noticed others ordered BLACK COD...I missed it but it would have been nice if the waiter had mentioned that as an alternate recommendation since everyone knows you would have to cook black cod for 3 hours to dry it out. -- thinner cut of fish -- needed the chimi in bulk (not the case) to cover dry spots in the fish -- nice char on BROCCOLINI which was great -- the BRUSSEL SPROUTS were super flavorful and tasty and likely marinated or cooked in balsamic vinegar....good char COCONUT MACADAMIA ICE CREAM: -- too sweet, more high sweetness -- good coconut flavor but not great -- very ample macadamia chunks in it RATING = B+ read more

Pacific Catch is a vibey restaurant - super cute interior and good service! Overall though I wasn't extremely impressed with the food in terms of taste/didn't stand out to me personally. I'd probably just come here for drinks with friends and to catch up. //CONTEXT// I was craving some raw fish/poke and a healthy-ish snack and bites. I had seen this place on Yelp and also through some social media posts and was excited to try! We came here on a Saturday around 1 pm and we're seated immediately //ENVIRONMENT// Vibey spot great for small or big parties, has a nice bar and a outdoor patio! This would be such a good brunch spot! //FOOD// * Poke Sampler with Yellowtail Ceviche, Ahi Tuna and the Serrano Ahi Tuna! My favorite was the yellowtail ceviche which was very flavorful. The ahi tuna and the Serrano ahi tuna lacked so much flavor. I felt like the Serrano I was just eating straight up mayonnaise and had no seasoning whatsoever. I liked the variety of chips though * Pupu Platter: this was delicious and loved the pork belly musubi, and the coconut shrimp was good! Guacamole was decent but needed more flavor and although I liked shishito peppers felt it was too many shishito peppers and wish there was something else on the platter and wish it had more seasoning as it tasted bland * Coke was not carbonated enough and tasted a bit flat //SERVICE// Our server Alyssa was fantastic! //PRICE// Spent a bit under $60 //OVERALL// I'd probably only come back with friends or for brunch and drinks or something read more

It's been a while since I've been able to confidently leave a 5 star review. The past couple of years have seen some really tragic changes to the restaurant industry. Pacific Catch was a breath of fresh air. Every drink, appetizer, and entree were well thought out and well executed. Of our entire meal, my only "complaint" was that one of my sides was light on salt. The proteins were well cooked and seasoned. Sides complimented the main well. And drinks were all delicious. Also worth mentioning: Our server was so hospitable! read more

I stopped in and had a glass of wine and the Classic Yellowtail Ceviche. It was very good and refreshing! The fish was perfectly balanced with the citrus vinaigrette and the red onion, cucumber and Fresno chilies were a great, bright addition. The avocado chunks added a nice, mellow taste that compliments the brightness of the other components. The tortilla chips were good, maybe they could use a little salt.
