We stopped by looking to eat some bbq at Bloodworths, but they weren't open yet. We was hungry and didn't want to go much further. Luckily for us, Paburns kitchen was right next door. It's a little on the high side at $15 a plate. I felt that's kind of high for a low overhead food truck. Especially since they skimp on the chicken. As another stated, there was only a few pieces. Nevertheless, it was pretty good. I had the Combo A which was chicken and noodles with cabbage and a rice cake. Also included was lumpia, which was like a fried egg roll filled with chicken. To me it's a mini Philippino flauta. My wife had the pork adobo plate. She liked her plate as well. There's only a couple of tables to sit at outside.

This place happened to be just a few minutes from our hotel and I'm really glad we gave it a shot. First off, it's very mom-and-pop -- no frills, straight to the point, and focused on the food. I did think it was interesting that they also operate as a Chinese restaurant, but honestly, it's probably a smart move given the area. More ways to bring people in the door. The staff were incredibly friendly. It genuinely felt like being back in the Philippines. They were also super accommodating with our toddler, which always earns bonus points from me. We ordered the pansit, sizzling sisig, and sizzling chicken BBQ and all three were delicious. The pansit was savory and loaded with veggies and shrimp. The sisig was nicely peppery with just the right amount of spice. The sizzling chicken BBQ was such a great twist on the classic -- I might actually prefer it this way over skewers. It was easier to eat and came with extra sauce to drizzle over rice. Even though we were stuffed and already had to-go boxes, we couldn't skip halo-halo. It was the perfect ending -- refreshing, sweet, and exactly what we needed. If I lived here, I'd honestly be a regular. If you're looking for solid Filipino food in Austin, this is definitely a spot to check out.

As a filipino, I love sweet longanisa but I prefer the sausage wrapped ones because I like a bit of char on it. I didn't love their pancit, but loved their garlic rice. We also tried their kwek kwek (fried quail eggs) and it was tasty and love that it came with suka (vinegar sauce). I asked for a sweet chili sauce as well. There's a few streetfood items here that's hard to get elsewhere in San Antonio, like bulaklak. I was tempted to try even though it's pretty unhealthy. They're crispy, fried pork tissue fat and usually have a nice chewy texture. My favorite thing that we ordered was the pork sisig. It came out on a sizzling plate. I just wish it had more mayo and garnishes on it. Mostly just pork flavor. Our waiter was nice and the freshly made juice was amazing. We got a huge glass of fresh watermelon juice and calamansi lemonade. The restaurant itself seems like a venue for parties too, since they have a small karaoke stage. They also connect to a small grocery store with several Filipino staples. I was able to pick up Datu Puti vinegar and some Boy Bawang cornick! I'd come back if I was closer in the area or if i'm really craving a Filipino dish that I can't already make at home.

The lumpia is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh. It's packed with seasoned ground beef and you can tell the difference. We got the pancit bihon with pork and the balance of protein and veggies was really good. We added their house made chili oil to the noodles and honestly that was the move. Nobody around town makes chili oil like that. The crispy pork belly roll was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, stuffed with herbs, garlic, and onion. The aromatics really enhance the dish and took it to the next level! The pork BBQ sticks were juicy and you could taste the marinade. The sauce leaned sweet but with everything else on the table it balanced out really well. This is a Filipino family owned and operated business and it shows. The staff is really friendly and you can tell they take pride in what they're serving. They also have a small selection of Filipino grocery and food items if you want to take something home. I somehow found this place on my IG feed and added it to my list of places to try and since I knew this was a cloud kitchen I was glad they were also available on the delivery apps so decided on this place for lunch. You can also order directly and pick it up as well to save on service fees and delivery costs. I grew up eating Filipino food and so to me this is comfort. The pancit (noodle) was tasty and had enough sweet to cut the soy. It's a combination of meats and a good pancit is always how the vegetables are cut and definitely how the cabbage is hand torn. It's also how the sauce is braised and integrated into the noodles. This definitely is more braised and so you would typically squeeze wedges of lemon to cut the flavor; iykyk that Filipinos tend to like sour and vinegar so adding lemon as an accoutrement is a must. The pancit bihon also comes with 4pcs of lumpia shanghai. The filling was delish probably one of the better lumpia's available in the Austin area (there aren't many options) but this one goes to the top though they could probably be more crispy and tightly rolled but I think I like they didn't roll them so perfect to make it more home style. I am also a fan of the little Mac salad that came with my dish. If you're familiar with the Hawaiian style it's almost the same but the Filipino one adds chicken and is slightly sweeter pineapple and sweet relish. They also have Filipino bbq, bangus (milkfish), your -log style dishes which are savory sometimes sweet proteins over rice and a fried egg. Weekends appear to have some special items. They even have kare kare (a traditional peanut curry with vegetables and oxtail) and a clear beef soup with soup bones and cabbage. Can't wait to try more of their menu. If you're missing Filipino food and you're in north central Austin this is really one of two places and if you haven't tried home style Filipino food this is a good day to try.
