On this occasion I tried 'K-Bop', it's not a large place but it can accommodate an average size. As you enter, you're greeted cordially and you look at the menu on the wall and are given the option to order on kiosk or in person. You have a good variety of dishes and drinks and daily specials. After placing your order you find where you want to sit and as your food is ready they bring you your meal. On this occasion I ordered the corn dogs which was accompanied by fries. The corn dogs were delicious, cheesy and lightly crunchy. Inside the corn dogs were a small hotdog and regarding the fries, salted just right and a great flavor. I also ordered fried dumplings, my goodness, they were delicious with wonderful texture and flavor, the dipping sauce made them taste outstanding. This a perfect combination of warm and locally centered place. K-Bop is a good option for Korean food and I recommend this place.
Our first time trying k-bop. We were pleased. The food was hot and delicious. Ramyun: spam, dumpling, rice cake, cheese : Kimchi, Jalapeno, bean sprouts
Great spot for a quick Korean snack food experience. This is very similar to a bunshik restaurant in Korean popular to students where they can get ddukbokki (spicy rice cakes) and Kim bap (rolls) along with other fried food. I ordered the kimchi Kim bap, tonkatsu Kim Bap, and ddukbokki with ramen to share with the hubby. Kim baps were legit, but the rice was a little cold. Same with the ddukbokki, temperature was not hot enough. Other than that, everything tasted great! I also ordered a coffee with tapioca which was delicious. Parking is limited when there's a school event as they share a parking lot with other restaurants and businesses.
If you don't know how to heat up a boiling pot and add shin noodles and add eggs, with some pork belly - then definitely the place for you. We walked in and I instantly saw all of the black shin noodles displayed in the front ... cool it's known as a Korean style sauce but nothing the restaurant did helped to enhance the packaged seasoning. The chicken bowls are made with Costco canned chicken. So it was like eating spicy canned chicken that had been thickened by some sort of sauce 1 maybe the noodle water.
The restaurant is clean. The staff was friendly. The Bulgogi was perfect. This is my second time enjoying it. The first time I warmed it up and had it at home. I liked it that way better.
Oh. My. God. I actually just choked on this food because I was eating it so ferociously, scarfing it all down. I couldn't stop. Mom got scared hearing me cough and almost die. Mixing the soup with the perfectly runny egg and rice was breathtaking, they complimented eachother beautifully. Its a perfectly spicy, piping hot, flavor bomb, subtlely sweet. Sooooo comforting on this rainy cold day. This is now my go to for any overcast, chilly day. It's so stupidly good. I can't describe how much I love it. Especially with the rice cakes I added Can't wait to order more items!
Casual Korean food fix! I usually order from here using a delivery app but it's always great to swing by for some fresh eats. Service is fast and friendly! I did see quite a bit of new items but also some items no longer there like the seasonal soon doo boo jjigae. The ambiance is clean and had plenty of seating inside and outside. Don't expect authentic Korean eats it's more of a nice casual mix of flavors. For the price and what you get it's a good casual spot. They have late hours so it's perfect for the college crowd.
I love this place! The new cook is great with his service. I recommend the food and enjoy your food inside of the ambiance
Quiet little Korean shopfront in San Marcos. Order first via tablet (think Which 'Wich) and then they bring your food to the table. Everything tasted very fresh!! Hot sauce (upon request). Dishes are all between $11 and $13. A yummy diversion!
A Korean restaurant in San Marcos that people primarily go to for Korean food and not Japanese-like food such as kimbap and specialty sushi. I saw a Korean student working here. *GASP* I didn't know that actual Korean people actually existed in San Marcos. This location seems to be their second location with the first being near UT. The food is good. I had the bibimbap, which was standard. They were very generous with the vegetables. My only wish is that the online ordering website actually worked. The website was unresponsive after I added an entree, so I had to refresh it to see the changes to my cart. I am genuinely glad that didn't happen when I tried paying on the website. I believe the owner said something about it only being active during lunch rush hours, but I wish that it said somewhere on the website that was the case. Parking at downtown San Marcos. You may have a hard time finding enough parking during evening hours.

Philly cheesesteak? More like Philly fucked me in the ass. I don't know if it seasoned with butt juice but there is no way that is steak and it taste like not a Philly cheesesteak. Then I think the try to compensate me by giving me fish food and I was really hoping there was a $20 bill inside and it was some prank but nope. Other people food looked fine but no Philly cheesesteak read more

K-Bop was one of my go-to spots back when I was in college in Austin. The staff was always friendly, and I loved the beef bulgogi and kimbap. They always packed generous portions that could easily stretch into three meals, almost like a meal plan for the week. The beef bulgogi was always flavorful and paired perfectly with the glass noodles and rice. Now that I live outside of Austin, I tried the K-Bop in San Marcos since it was closer, but the quality felt noticeably different. The sauce tasted generic and not as well balanced, and even the vegetables weren't seasoned or cooked the same way. They also added way too much mayo, which made the dish heavy, though I know some people prefer it that way. On the positive side, the San Marcos location does have more seating. Overall, it was fine, but not quite the K-Bop I remembered. read more

Being that there are very few Korean places in the San Marcos area and in Texas in general. For what it's worth, this place is a 4/5 for me but close to a 5. Gotta give them some time to perfect thier craft. They have bowls, to sushi, to boba, and rice plates. Love the variety in entree choices. Definitely would come here again to try their order food entrees. read more

The lady who was taking our order was rude and didn't say much and was side eyeing us , When we got our boba the plastic broke on all 3 of our drinks. The boba was way undercook ! The drinks were super sour and it wasn't worth the price at all. We waiting a while just for 3 drinks . Do not recommend waste of money. read more

It's a Friday and my wife and I were trying to decide where to order lunch from...still not up for dining in during this pandemic. We discussed a few places we've been to and liked then I checked out Yelp for other options. We considered our "usual suspects" them I suggested trying the Korean place K-Bop. SMTX is not exactly teeming with quality options for Asian cuisine, and having lived in South Korea for a couple of years while stationed there with the US Army, we'd like to think we know authentic, good quality Korean food. We ordered the more common Korean dishes, Beef bulgogi bowl for my honey, the Lunch box with beef for me and we shared a House Kimbap. The lunch box came with bulgogi beef over chap jae noodles, rice topped with a fried egg, a couple of fried mandu pieces with dipping sauce, some kimchi and a couple of not so fresh grapes. The beef bulgogi meat was good and didn't seem gristly as we've had in other places. The taste was decent but my wife and I thought there was something missing. For lack of a better word, we thought it tasted "Americanized"...it was good but we thought it wasn't quite authentic. The house kimbap was also good but had the same "Americanized" taste to it. We found portions to be generous and had leftovers for a later meal. All in all, we liked it but would prefer a more authentic experience. Take out lunch for 2 came out to just under $39 with tip. read more
Poor service, hit/miss food. The dduk boki was a hit! Generous with fish cakes, good spice level, perfect texture on rice cakes, and the two fried dumplings were really tasty (I usually prefer steamed). The ton katsu bowl was a miss. The brown sauce was too sweet, the fried egg was missing its yolk, and the meat was too oily and lacking in flavor. Also, I got a single broccoli floret - not the handful like you see in their photo... As for the customer service, their time estimate for pick up was off by 10-15 minutes, and the dduk boki container was improperly sealed, so sauce got all over utensils and inside of delivery bag. Will return to try their bubble tea, but probably won't order off food menu for a while. read more
5 stars for the food AND service!!! Love this place so much visited last weekend when we were near here but we live in DFW and it was soooo worth it. They were out of the soft tofu seafood soup so they offered to give me free dumplings and everything was delicious! Came out super fast and all so flavorful! My favorite was the kimchi kimbop but i guess i ate it too quick to take a pic! We also tried to chicken katsu and teriyaki chicken bowl. We got the mango smoothie boba and thai tea / taro frozen drink. read more

The food was cold and there were gnats surrounding me while I was eating. Not sure what was going on there but it was not good, my boyfriend and I got a stomach ache after eating the tteopoki. Risk it if you want but I will not be going there again. Major red flag. read more

This food is nothing short but amazing. If you ever in the mood for Korean/Asian food this is the spot hands down. Friendly staff and quick service. The take out containers are microwave safe and ready as well, a huge plus. 10/10 read more
