Ordered lunch from here the other day and had a great experience! Everything was delicious, food was ready on time and was packaged very well, and service was great. Definitely would recommend to anyone in the area! read more

Sushi felt funny in the mouth. Short ribs were underwhelming and the wrong cut of meat. Milk tea tasted like it came out of a box. Got charged extra for spicy mayo and never got it. NOT worth the price. Spent $90 for sub par sushi. I spent the same amount at an all you can eat place in San Antonio. Should have just driven 30 min more and it would have been worth the time and money. Do not recommend read more

I'm always on the hunt for good Chinese which led me to Wok and Roll. Walking inside the place it is clean, and well decorated, with the relaxing sounds of a fountain. I ordered the orange chicken and a shrimp dish that was described as leaning toward Thai flavors with a lemongrass profile. I got the food home and shared it with my kiddos. The orange chicken is what you would expect and the fried rice was tasty. The shrimp dish was interesting and I'm not sure of what the flavors were but it did not remind me of any Thai dish I have had. Something was off with the egg rolls- while the egg roll was crispy on the outside the inside was a little doughy and the flavor tasted like something they used was close to the expiration date. Overall not a terrible meal and the kids loved the orange chicken but I think I will keep searching. read more

Crabmeat rangoon could use some more meat and less shredded cheese but otherwise everything was tasty. Definitely want to come back. Great atmosphere. read more

great food and great prices. Owner is friendly and it's a great place for a quick bite.

Flat noodle stir fry. Noodles were hard. Dish was too sweet and lacked vegetables. Garlic pork with fried rice....garlic pork was too sweet. Fried rice had only "one" English pea in it. No green onion, no egg, no carrot. Meal was expensive for what you get. $38.00 (which included a 20% tip). No drinks, no desert. read more

I had bad experience with take out from here recently. However, it was the end of the night and was to go so I wanted to give them another chance. They have a nice variety on their lunch menu, both traditional Chinese restaurant meals and sushi options. I had the duck special and was sorely disappointed. The duck was crispy but cold. The sauce tasted burnt. All in all, it was off putting. I added on the Cali-roll for $1 to try it. But when gas station Cali-rolls beat yours, you make me glad that I didn't pay for the real sushi items. I wanted to find a solid Chinese option in the area, but this isn't it. read more

Women looking for a new place for Asian food since we moved to San Marcos earlier this year. I'm so glad we tried wok n roll. Very nice little restaurant with plenty of seating and great atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing. Had some Kung pow chicken and some sweet-and-sour chicken and it was delicious. Well prepared high-quality chicken meat. I recommend this place to anybody who wants to have a nice Asian dinner. It's my new favorite. read more

It's gone down hill recently. It was ok in the past, but the fried rice I had recently was terrible and the white rice seemed off. I would be surprised if it had been unwashed and undercooked. The egg drop soup is really good, but many of the main dishes are lacking. It's gotten more expensive, but the price doesn't reflect the quality. I'd recommend the chicken lo mein, especially if you're hungry. That dish has a pretty good flavor, a large portion, and reheats well. The eel roll was ok, but not amazing. The servers are normally quite nice and the vibe is fun, but I won't be going back. It's not worth it anymore read more

Food was nasty , tasted old drove 30 minutes away to try this place and was sadly disappointed , chicken was decent but my chow mein and ragoons I was sadly disappointed spent 37$ and gas on a waist of food , when called they said to bring it back so they could look at , it keep in mind I live 30 minutes away and didn't get my first bite until I got back on the highway heading back home , I have 2 full time jobs so turning around just wasn't an option , just lost a potential valued customer will not be returning read more

My boyfriend and I love this place but they need to post their hours correctly. The kitchen closes at 9:30 pm. So the restaurant is NOT open until 10 pm. Again, great food and lovely atmosphere! read more

The first two times we picked up food had a great experience. The last three - terrible! We even called back the last time and they assured us the food would not be BURNT if we ordered again. Just picked up food and got it home; should've complained at pick up (shame on us) as it's terrible. Over cooked, dry and tasteless. We won't be back! read more

We had a great experience at Wok & Roll. We shared crab Rangoon's, egg drop soup, California roll, sesame chicken, and walnut shrimp. Everything was fresh and yummy. The soup came with crispy noodles- not an extra charge or even had to ask for them. The sauces were complimentary to each dish we wanted them for. We were there for lunch and ordered the lunch portion but still had more that we brought home for a second meal. read more

It had a pleasant atmosphere. The chai tea was delicious. I ordered orange chicken, it was chunks of chicken with a lot of gristle and fat. The sauce was tasteless for the most part. The Sesame chicken was huge pieces of chicken like chicken tenders. coating was like rubber. I never had anything like that before. Everything tasted left over. I will not go back. read more

Great service , love the custom sushi roll options. Shrimp tempura with roe and avocado is my favorite and go to

We went after our elopement, and despite mentioning our celebration, nothing was acknowledged beyond a quick "congratulations." We even called ahead and were told to come, yet no one mentioned that so many items were sold out, from basic sushi all the way to the duck. They clearly weren't prepared, and we still spent $$$. It's disappointing, especially because we've been loyal customers who always enjoyed this place. Every visit, even for a casual meal, we never spend less than $100 and we always tip well. This experience really soured the relationship and made us feel unappreciated as customers. At this point, it's time to say goodbye. read more

Amazing service, didn't have to ask for a refill once, ambiance is calming with smooth music in the background, don't even get me started on how the food tasted read more

I'll call this "Not worth the Drive" review!! Let's start with the white rice: From experience and home cooking, this rice was an absolute flavorless failure! Mu best guess, they gave us 3 or 4 day old rice, and very hard. In no way would I ever throw my wife under the bus, but with her zero cooking experience I would prefer her "I'll give it a shot" rice over this established restaurant. I would except we just opened, or our rice cooker broke. Second thought there's no excuse to screw up white rice. Sweet n Sour Pork: Flavorless cardboard, cold, dry and sis I mention tasteless. I did add the sauce, of course think g it would help. But hot damn nothing could help this dish. As I'm typing my jar hurts from chewing the pork jerky, oh I'm sorry there failures of sweet n sour pork.. Chicken Lo mein: I'll call this "strike 3"OMG, you can't be serious another tasteless dish. No salt, no flavor what so ever, we had to doctor this up garlic salt, hoisin sauce I have in the fridge. And let me tell you there is no helping this dish to even be called edible. Moo goo gai pan: Let's call this "Your outta here".... Same theme here, like the above dishes. Wait this had a bit of flavor, that is still lingering around in my mouth. And it's not a good lasting flavor either, I wouldn't recommend this dish. To be completely honest I will not recommend this establishment to anyone I know. Unless there's a change in the cook(s), someone with experience in Chinese flavor cuisine. If the owners like I would recommend they go to dine at "Broadway Cuisine" in downtown Los Angeles, with their authentic Chinese food. So all n all, I will not be going back to this non authentic Chinese tasting food restaurant in the near future. I would however return on a few conditions. 1 - When they hire a chef that is familiar with Chinese spices, flavorings. 2 - When the rice cooker is working properly, or I can bring my own washed white rice. 3 - When I can bring Szechuan peppercorn, ginger, garlic and sesame oil to help the cook acquire some flavor to their dishes. Lastly, here are my final thoughts. Wok & Roll, please contact Chef Gordan Ramsey "Kitchen Nightmares" to be placed on his list to help y'all. To think I drove 9 miles for this disastrous dinner, and could have eaten a Panda Express. Wait there's 1 silver lining to our order. The Thai tea was on point, not sure y'all could have messed this up. read more

Ordered and husband picked it up. 20 min drive to get there. Got a few things but mushu pork was what I really wanted. No sauce came & when I called to see if it could be fixed all I was given was a choice to drive 40 min round trip to get it. I had chemo yesterday so that was out no offer of a discount or next time we will comp etc. eventually he just hung up on me after I said we would never order from them nor our friends again. It's Xmas I'm going through cancer treatment and he had no empathy (imo) at all read more

I have heard good things about this place.. But it kind of honestly disappointed me. The entrees were good, the egg drop soup was good but the crispy for the soup and the crab rangoons were soggy.. the lemonade says it's freshly squeezed which is NOT true at all, so they don't give free refills on. the ambience of the restaurant was very nice and decorated beautifully. I wouldn't mind giving it another try maybe get something different...who knows maybe it was just a bad day.. read more

Still on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant so we tried Wok & Roll. Hubby got general tso's and asked for chicken fried rice, and egg roll. Mom had Mongolian beef-spicy , fried rice, and egg roll, and I had something new, garlic beef, fried rice and egg roll. I also got crab Rangoon. The restaurant is really nice and the bathrooms were clean! Hubby said General Tso's was ok and he thinks they gave him pork fried rice. He liked the spice level and the rice. The crab Rangoon did not have crab at all and the egg rolls tasted old. The beef in garlic sauce was sweet and not tasty to me, but it's not my normal entree. Mom said Mongolian beef was ok as well. They were really nice. We were greeted as soon as we entered and our order came up fast. We will keep looking for a good Chinese restaurant. read more

They took the sushi lunch menu away -- which was honestly the only reason I came here. This place used to be pretty good, but the prices have gone up while the quality has gone way down. There's really no incentive to come back anymore because it feels overpriced for what you get. read more

wish i could leave a 0, worst service ever the guy said it was a 45 minute wait then the other guy said it wasnt that long no consistency at all! said he was doing the best he could why dont yall just hire more servers idk? also this was a lunch rush so only one server is insane. do not go here for lunch unless you want to spend 2 hours waiting. do not recommend the server with the hat and glasses. Also said common sense you will be waiting if you went down the street to pluckers im just saying if you are a server maybe you should have some better social skills. read more

Really enjoyed the food here. I got the wonton soup. It was a broth with a bit of cabbage which I loved and two wontons on the smaller side along with crispy noodles on the side. I have to say the wontons are the best ones I have ever had. I can usually decipher different tastes but I can't figure this one out. Maybe a bit of a smoky flavor. The egggroll was very good and all the ingredients inside it were fresh! That says a lot if you can notice that. I had shrimp with broccoli and all the ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared. My husband got chicken fried rice which was a rather hefty serving. The only not so positive were the plants on the edge of the window sill. It just makes it look junky. I definitely would request another booth. We will be back!! read more

There's a dearth of decent choices for Chinese and Japanese restaurants in a college town like San Marcos, although my wife and I love Don Japanese. For Chinese, we've tried Xian Xian and thought their offerings were fine but selection was limited. Our neighbors suggested we try Wok & Roll and that's where we headed for lunch. On our first visit, I tried their Salt and Pepper Pork while my wife opted for their Salt and Pepper Shrimp with a side order of California Roll. Both dishes were good (although I thought they were a bit chintzy with their fried rice) and the California roll tasted fresh. The hot and sour soup was also on point. For our second visit, we tried their pork lettuce wraps (quite good) as an appetizer. My wife ordered a bowl of Wonton Soup and I ordered the Salt and Pepper Pork once again. I was going to order the Sushi Plate with chicken teriyaki until I was told that order doesn't come with rice. What?!!! The Wonton Soup was disappointing. It lacked robust flavor, like water with a hint of chicken stock. The dishes were served quick...way too quick as the pork lettuce wraps were followed in quick succession by the soup and salt and pepper pork orders. We didn't have time to finish our appetizer before the entrees were served. As it was, we felt hurried eating the lettuce wraps lest we risk the entrees getting cold. I firmly believe good restaurants can synch timing of delivering appetizers and entrees to allow ample time for diners to savor their meal. All in all, not a bad experience although they could work on timing their delivery. read more

I got the Wok & Roll Fried Rice last night. It comes with shrimp, bbq pork & egg. The serving was generous and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!

Place is ok for to go orders. They will be ready in around 20 minutes. Dining in is another matter. They are quite slow if you have a party bigger than 4. 6 of us ate today and took 57 minutes to get our food. We were the second set of customers for the day. Over 8 tables of patties of 4 our less we're seated during that time. All of them except one table received their food before us. The 8th table received their soups before we did. The waiters did not serve our table again. One waiter brought the soups and another brought the food. We had ask for to go boxes to get back to work. We had to check out at the to go section. We spoke to a person who said he was not the manager. No apologies were offered for the delay nor were any gestures made as an apology. read more

The service was good. However I've had better Chinese food. I had the lemon chicken and crab Rangoons

Quick Chinese take out food that tastes good! It's our new go to place for Chinese in San Marcos!

Went in and was told to sit in a corner booth. 20 minutes later I asked a staff person if I had a waiter. He said yes and walked off. 10 minutes after that I walked out. Worst service is no service at all won't be back. They didn't even acknowledge my existence in their establishment. read more

Love how you can build your roll online BUT Sad to see that the prices increased by 70%.

Ohhh Mmmm Geee. This place is phenomenal. We have tried several sushi restaurants and this one is by far the best. The service is ridiculous as well. We had Jason as a server and he is so attentive and personable , he really made dinner awesome! The sushi was well proportioned, soup was good, and appetizers were good sizes too! The restaurant is clean and smelled really good when we walked in, booths were spacious and the decor was super nice. This will definitely be the go to spot. read more

Wok & roll is my favorite place for beef fried rice and sushi. Been going here for over 6 years and I've never had one bad meal yet. The General Tso's chicken is really good also. Egg drop soup is also good. I prefer the CA Deluxe roll from here, but I've also tried multiple others and loved them too. The beef fried rice is perfect to me, the beef is nice and tender and I don't have to put any extra soy sauce on it which is a plus. read more

For lunch I ordered ice tea, sesame chicken, white rice, egg roll, hot and sour soup, and added the 4 piece California roll. The sweet tea was super sweet and the waiter saw I was diluting it with my water and did refills as half and half, which was nice he noticed. The food however was not enjoyable. The egg roll and sesame chicken tasted burnt. The nori in the pieces of California roll was gummy. As I chewed it stayed in one piece, I t's rather comical until you realize your spent $21 on horrible food. They give two really small scoops of rice on the plate. It's crazy that the cheapest things (rice and nori) are being skimped on and detracting from the meal. I did express this feedback to the waiter (specifically the burnt taste and the nori) and he said sorry and offered a to go tea. It's sad because my family has come here frequently since they opened, but recently the food has been a miss. Do yourself a favor and skip eating here and go to Panda Express at least they are consistent on how they cook their food. I wish them the best on turning things around. read more

We ordered Chinese food on Christmas Day. The food was fine. Nothing special but also nothing to complain about. The reason for my low review is I ordered VEGETABLE spring rolls and received pork spring rolls instead. I don't know what is worse to me in this situation, the fact that my Jewish toddler is a vegetarian and has never had meat before or that he was unknowingly given PORK on HANUKKAH. I am disturbed and disgusted and honestly feel so unbelievably violated. I will not be going back here. Of all the days of the year too... read more

Disappointing. The shrimp in garlic sauce was just okay...not too spicy, but not garlicky enough, either. Accidentally crunched on a big chunk of garlic, but the sauce itself didn't have a garlic flavor. Tasted more like sweet chili sauce. Egg roll was good. Crab rangoon was bad. The fried shell was crazy chewy! Wrapper shouldn't be tough and hard to chew like that... Egg drop soup nothing to write home about. Won't order again. read more
