Ordering only from the table and did not partake in Buffett. I think this place is more setup for the buffet and will try to come back for that. My fiancé ordered the udon soup which had great flavor. We shared the shrimp tempura and disappointed in the batter. It wasn't flaky like I'm used to when using panko flakes. The sashimi platter was good. Service was a bit slow at first. The server snapped at me for pulling a sushi plate from the conveyor belt, but when I told her that the menu said that I could do that and could pay by the plate; she agreed that that was possible. I think her approach could have been better communicated. read more

Sakura is a family friendly Sushi place with many options besides Sushi. I went with my family and everyone had a great time and we were able to try many of their items. I love the real Sushi which is the raw fish but their are many other options for the kids. Different types of noodle bowls and such that make them happy eaters. The fish is ok not top notch but good enough to enjoy. Also with the plate count you can keep good track of the money and stay within an alloted budget. Overall a good family Sushi restaurant! read more

Casual family friendly restaurant Plenty of parking out front Many choices of Asian food or fresh hand made sushi My husband's go to is Beef Yakisoba with steamed rice, and miso soup. I like the lemon chicken and sesame shrimp. We both enjoy the gyoza as an appetizer. Always greeted on arrival and drinks and food come out quickly. read more

We had the basic (gold) all you can eat menu. The food was just ok most of the time. We had one plate that still had a shrimp tail and one of the ordered plates, the eel roll, had a ton of plastic in it. It appeared that it was holding imitation crab and rolled into it because the plastic was in nearly every bite. When we informed the server, nothing happened. No manager, no offer of a remake to go, just an apology. I will say, the atmosphere is really beautiful and relaxing and the lunch menu seems like a way better deal than the dinner. I wouldn't recommend it per say, but I am interested in trying the hotpot one day and seeing if my opinion changes read more

This is not the best sushi in the world. But I have always found the AYCE lunch special to be about the best combination of a good variety of fresh, well prepared sushi along with cooked items ordered separately that I've found, especially for the price--$16.95 as of January 2025. And it's fun to take your chances on which rolls might come as long on the conveyor belt, or order specific things you want from the menu. Or both! I always order the Crab Balls and Gyoza, yo be sure they are super fresh and hot, then hang out and see what appears on the conveyor belt. And since it's all included, no need to keep track of plates and prices to avoid sticker shock. There are a few premium items that are priced a la carte, but they are clearly marked, and I've never felt the need. I don't live in San Marcos and have only been to Sakura for the occasional lunch, but I think it would have a fun vibe at night, with all the neon and probably more groups doing hot pot. I joked with the server about the sign requesting customers to limit dining time to "90 minuets." I looked it up and the average length of a minuet is about four minutes. She laughed and said as far as she knows no one had ever tried to pull that off! read more

Service was ok, but for the price this place is not worth it at all. Front entrance smells like urine, floors are sticky, and most of revolving sushi selections include mayo in the roll. The edamame tastes half frozen and miso is insanely salty. Wonton soup tastes like someone poured a carton of heb beef broth in a pot and threw in frozen dumplings. Wouldn't recommend at all. read more

food is good love the sex on the beach roll , love the rice and noodles but the customer service is awful we had a tab for two people and it came out to 75$ but the all you can eat is 25 each they include the tip but charged me more then 20 percent and doesn't have a sign paying you get charged for a tip in general. I always tip and have no problem doing so but my friend at the other table got charged 40 for a tip that only had 3 all you can eats on it . while approaching this to the manger on duty a staff member walk up to us and said watch out instead of saying excuse me or anything respectful to get pass us . they will over charge you and be disrespectful towards you I will no longer be going to this establishment and be going to Kobe's for sushi and all my needs . honestly rate 1-10 4 read more

What happened here? Was looking forward to having the all you can eat sushi conveyor belt experience and it was awful. First, we get seated at the tail end of where the belt brings the sushi plates around so there was nothing left by the time it got to us. The items we ordered off the menu took forever to get brought to our table or was delivered to another table. We asked for wasabi and ginger to use with our sushi. One dot of wasabi was ROCK HARD in the little tin it was delivered in. Looked more like a dippin' dot. How long does it even take for wasabi to go from a soft glob to a hard rock? Days?!?! SHAMEFUL. Our server(hopefully was brand new) was sweet but clueless on how to wait tables. Can't be too hard, it's a buffet type set up. Guess the exterior of the free standing restaurant should have been a warning of what was waiting for us on the inside. Weeds and unkept lawn with cheap fencing around the perimeter. It will be a long time before we return here, if at all. read more

Love this little gem of a place. They have remodeled and made updates, and the ambiance is fantastic. We absolutely love the food (hibachi and private tables), and the sushi train is excellent. A nice variety of food options available, with excellent service. Highly recommend checking out this gem. No complaints here. read more

We called ahead. They close at 10:30 and we said that we would be there at 9:30. They said it was fine and they were gonna serve us. We showed up at 9:35 and they didn't want to seat us. Informed us of other sushi restaurants in town to go to before they would seat us. Then sat us and said we had 10 mins to order. We left. And will never return. read more

Walking in this location is so cute. It is split hibachi or all you can eat sushi. And to our surprise the all you can eat comes with your own grill and ramen warmers at the table, not to mention the sushi conveyor belt. Service was nice but a bit slow and considering that they didn't seem busy that was a bit disappointing, we also had to request to have the menu explained after relaying that this was our first visit. The menu is split between Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Gold has all your sushi and appetizers, also comes with yakisoba and fried rice. Platinum includes Golds menu with some better appetizers ramen and bbq access, and Diamond includes both Platinum and Gold with better choices as well as a salad bar. Over all would recommend, food is good and service is nice, plus the amount of accommodations. read more

What's not to love about a place that offers sushi, hot pot and Korean BBQ all at once? My wife ate at Sakura with her work friends and she could not stop raving about it, so I told her she and I needed to go on a date night. In only a few minutes I was blown away! We both selected the 'Diamond' all-you-can-eat option which seems a little steep at $42.95 per person. However, once you realize everything you can choose from it is well worth it, especially if you're very hungry and/or a big eater like myself. My wife had joined their rewards/loyalty program so she was offered a free drink up to $8. She's not big drinker so she let me order a beer. I got an ice cold Kirin on draft. We started with some sushi from the conveyer which was fun. I've never been to a restaurant with a sushi conveyer belt before. I had only heard about them and always wanted to try it. We also ordered a LOT of sashimi which came out very quickly and was great quality fish served at the perfect temperature. We ordered a couple of other small appetizer dishes that were okay but got overshadowed by the Korean BBQ and hot pot. The spicy pork belly was tremendous. We also got galbi, baby octopus and lamb for the Korean BBQ. They were all great but the spicy pork belly stole the show. We ordered the spicy hot pot broth and made our selections from the self-serve 'green bar'. I was surprised at the vast selection. They have all kinds of vegetables and many types of mushrooms to choose from, as well as meat, seafood and even quail eggs. I think I ate about 10 quail eggs! Service was excellent. Very friendly and fast. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. Somewhat modern and very clean. We left incredibly stuffed and very satisfied. This is a restaurant I would definitely like to go to again. read more

Super sticky and salty. Got seated at hibachi and went at least 25 minutes or more without getting even waters. Super long service, pretty sure the it was the chef's first time at a table. Spilled food on me, knocked over a drink, and the "show" included a sad choo choo train of 3 small onion slices. Not engaging at all. Will be switching back to Kobe or something in Austin sadly. Also, you can see into the women's side bathroom from where we were seated. Not cool. read more

Wasabi was sawdust. Could have been an enjoyable experience, but I cannot enjoy sushi without decent or at least halfway decent imitation wasabi. Extremely disappointed. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of going to Sakura to treat our sushi cravings. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by our hosts, and were quickly seated. They asked if this was our first time, and ran us through the prices which we thought were fair (We did Gold which is $25.95 AYCE, but they also have Platinum which is $38.95 AYCE, and finally diamond which is $49.95 AYCE). The platinum and diamond include the hot pot options which include a variety of red meats and seafoods. Moreover, the neon lights and cherry blossom trees gave the impression of eating in Tokyo which we liked. We grabbed some rolls off the belt, and were impressed by the quality of them. The fish was fresh, there was no weird smell, and it was delicious. On a side note, the water was also very refreshing. I don't know what some other reviews are saying about this place, but for someone who's pretty particular about Sushi I'd say give this place a shot! read more

I'm amazed at all the positive reviews for this place. I found it to be pretty thoroughly unimpressive, overall. Weekday, lunch visit. Seated promptly by a friendly employee. The dining area is in serious need of cleaning. I guess the health department has never looked up to see those nasty air vents on the ceiling. It makes me cringe to think how the kitchen is cleaned. I ordered the $14.95 all you can eat special. Only a bare minimum of sushi roll items were circulating on the conveyer--all were variations of crab mix or spicy tuna mix. If you want nagiri or sashimi that is going to be an upcharge. WTH? Even some of the stuff listed as available on the menu is not actually available. Per the waiter, "uh, that was a typo." About the only thing that was really pleasant about this meal was the fried rice. Definitely not returning here. read more

Sakura in San Marcos- unbeatable sushi, warm atmosphere & the friendliest staff! The morning crew is the best!

I've had better hibachi and sushi at other places. It was mediocre. They used margarine in everything and way too much sauce. The miso was too salty. The utensils.... I'm not sure if the water is just extremely hard... but I could scape the white film off the utensils. This place is absolutely cute! The ambiance is nice and that's is what drew us into the restaurant. However, upon entering the floor was extremely sticky. My feel were stuck to the floor. The bathroom needs to be remodeled. It just looks dirty and gross. The server was super nice and very attentive and the cook was a nice guy as well. read more

Food, service & ambience. Needs a through clean,it was very grimey. The servers were clueless about the menu. The food made me ill & they were so stingy with the amount of wasabi & ginger. They gave half a teaspoon for 3 people! Just overall the experience was very much a yuck. read more

Just visiting from out of state but I know we're in San Marcos but this was absolutely the worst food I've ever had I paid the 45 dollars so I could try everything . But the sushi was the worst and messy I've ever eaten before . Everything was filled with fake crab . I couldn't eat more than a few pieces . I moved onto their meat selection and it has to be the lowest quality meat I've seen in a long time and their flavoring was terrible . I was surprised to know I couldn't even order a simple bowl of white rice to eat with it only a greasy bowl of fried rice . I tried the hot pot and everything was so flavorless I walked out of there wanting to eat something from somewhere else just to feel full . The service was bad . She said they were short staffed . But still charged us over 40 dollars in a tip cause we had a party of 5 my advice don't order the highest one nothing was worth it . I can't believe this place even has a 3.5 star go to a real sushi spot or a Korean bbq this all in one could work if they cared more about the Quaility they're putting out . I was waiting for them to try and charge me a surcharge I saw them do to another table for not finishing some stuff so I could tell them why I couldn't eat anymore of there food . But they didn't so I just paid and walked out and decided to try and save someone visiting the town to avoid this place read more

We decided to give this spot a try the other night. We arrived around 6:00 PM on a weeknight. Without realizing what a bad spot it was, we were seated towards the end of their long conveyor belt. Three of us ordered all you can eat sushi. Unfortunately, there were many other tables seated closer to the beginning of the conveyor belt, so the slow trickle of sushi rolls hardly ever reached our table. Table service was fairly good, but the length of time that it took to be able to try anything was not worthwhile. Very inefficient system. We wouldn't bother visiting here again. read more

I understand the draw of this restaurant with all you can eat for $14.95, it's why I tried it. I also understand why people say it's like grocery sushi, I actually think it's worse. The menu looks large, but they charge extra for all the Nigiri and Sashimi, as well as Spider Roll, Eel roll & several others. They only had about 8 that went around on the "train" and the rest had to be ordered. On the train, you get 4 pieces, if you order it because you get tired of waiting, you get 8 pieces. If you don't eat everything, you are charged extra. On a good note, my server was friendly and wonderful, although I would prefer a digital ordering system, so I wouldn't have to wait so long. They definitely stretch out the way time, so you get full on less food. I won't be returning to Sakura. read more
