We had the basic (gold) all you can eat menu. The food was just ok most of the time. We had one plate that still had a shrimp tail and one of the ordered plates, the eel roll, had a ton of plastic in it. It appeared that it was holding imitation crab and rolled into it because the plastic was in nearly every bite. When we informed the server, nothing happened. No manager, no offer of a remake to go, just an apology. I will say, the atmosphere is really beautiful and relaxing and the lunch menu seems like a way better deal than the dinner. The sashimi platter was good. Service was a bit slow at first. The server snapped at me for pulling a sushi plate from the conveyor belt, but when I told her that the menu said that I could do that and could pay by the plate; she agreed that that was possible. This is not the best sushi in the world. But I have always found the AYCE lunch special to be about the best combination of a good variety of fresh, well prepared sushi along with cooked items ordered separately that I've found, especially for the price--$16.95 as of January 2025. And it's fun to take your chances on which rolls might come as long on the conveyor belt, or order specific things you want from the menu. Or both! I always order the Crab Balls and Gyoza, yo be sure they are super fresh and hot, then hang out and see what appears on the conveyor belt. And since it's all included, no need to keep track of plates and prices to avoid sticker shock. There are a few premium items that are priced a la carte, but they are clearly marked, and I've never felt the need. I don't live in San Marcos and have only been to Sakura for the occasional lunch, but I think it would have a fun vibe at night, with all the neon and probably more groups doing hot pot. I joked with the server about the sign requesting customers to limit dining time to "90 minuets." I looked it up and the average length of a minuet is about four minutes. What happened here? Was looking forward to having the all you can eat sushi conveyor belt experience and it was awful. First, we get seated at the tail end of where the belt brings the sushi plates around so there was nothing left by the time it got to us. The items we ordered off the menu took forever to get brought to our table or was delivered to another table. We asked for wasabi and ginger to use with our sushi. One dot of wasabi was ROCK HARD in the little tin it was delivered in. Looked more like a dippin' dot. How long does it even take for wasabi to go from a soft glob to a hard rock? Days?!?! SHAMEFUL. Our server(hopefully was brand new) was sweet but clueless on how to wait tables. Can't be too hard, it's a buffet type set up. Guess the exterior of the free standing restaurant should have been a warning of what was waiting for us on the inside. Weeds and unkept lawn with cheap fencing around the perimeter. Walking in this location is so cute. It is split hibachi or all you can eat sushi. And to our surprise the all you can eat comes with your own grill and ramen warmers at the table, not to mention the sushi conveyor belt. Service was nice but a bit slow and considering that they didn't seem busy that was a bit disappointing, we also had to request to have the menu explained after relaying that this was our first visit. The menu is split between Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Gold has all your sushi and appetizers, also comes with yakisoba and fried rice. Platinum includes Golds menu with some better appetizers ramen and bbq access, and Diamond includes both Platinum and Gold with better choices as well as a salad bar. What's not to love about a place that offers sushi, hot pot and Korean BBQ all at once? My wife ate at Sakura with her work friends and she could not stop raving about it, so I told her she and I needed to go on a date night. In only a few minutes I was blown away! We both selected the 'Diamond' all-you-can-eat option which seems a little steep at $42.95 per person. However, once you realize everything you can choose from it is well worth it, especially if you're very hungry and/or a big eater like myself. My wife had joined their rewards/loyalty program so she was offered a free drink up to $8. She's not big drinker so she let me order a beer. I got an ice cold Kirin on draft. We started with some sushi from the conveyer which was fun. I've never been to a restaurant with a sushi conveyer belt before. I had only heard about them and always wanted to try it. We also ordered a LOT of sashimi which came out very quickly and was great quality fish served at the perfect temperature. We ordered a couple of other small appetizer dishes that were okay but got overshadowed by the Korean BBQ and hot pot. The spicy pork belly was tremendous. We also got galbi, baby octopus and lamb for the Korean BBQ. They were all great but the spicy pork belly stole the show. We ordered the spicy hot pot broth and made our selections from the self-serve 'green bar'. I was surprised at the vast selection. They have all kinds of vegetables and many types of mushrooms to choose from, as well as meat, seafood and even quail eggs. I think I ate about 10 quail eggs! Service was excellent. Very friendly and fast. The restaurant atmosphere was nice. Somewhat modern and very clean. We left incredibly stuffed and very satisfied. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of going to Sakura to treat our sushi cravings. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by our hosts, and were quickly seated. They asked if this was our first time, and ran us through the prices which we thought were fair (We did Gold which is $25.95 AYCE, but they also have Platinum which is $38.95 AYCE, and finally diamond which is $49.95 AYCE). The platinum and diamond include the hot pot options which include a variety of red meats and seafoods. Moreover, the neon lights and cherry blossom trees gave the impression of eating in Tokyo which we liked. We grabbed some rolls off the belt, and were impressed by the quality of them.The fish was fresh, there was no weird smell, and it was delicious. On a side note, the water was also very refreshing. I don't know what some other reviews are saying about this place, but for someone who's pretty particular about Sushi I'd say give this place a shot! read more

Spilled food on me, knocked over a drink, and the "show" included a sad choo choo train of 3 small onion slices. Not engaging at all. Will be switching back to Kobe or something in Austin sadly. The dining area is in serious need of cleaning. I guess the health department has never looked up to see those nasty air vents on the ceiling. It makes me cringe to think how the kitchen is cleaned. I ordered the $14.95 all you can eat special. Only a bare minimum of sushi roll items were circulating on the conveyer--all were variations of crab mix or spicy tuna mix. If you want nagiri or sashimi that is going to be an upcharge. WTH? Even some of the stuff listed as available on the menu is not actually available. Per the waiter, "uh, that was a typo." I've had better hibachi and sushi at other places. It was mediocre. They used margarine in everything and way too much sauce. The miso was too salty. The utensils.... I'm not sure if the water is just extremely hard... but I could scape the white film off the utensils. This place is absolutely cute! The ambiance is nice and that's is what drew us into the restaurant. However, upon entering the floor was extremely sticky. My feel were stuck to the floor. The bathroom needs to be remodeled. We decided to give this spot a try the other night. We arrived around 6:00 PM on a weeknight. Without realizing what a bad spot it was, we were seated towards the end of their long conveyor belt. Three of us ordered all you can eat sushi. Unfortunately, there were many other tables seated closer to the beginning of the conveyor belt, so the slow trickle of sushi rolls hardly ever reached our table. The restaurant was ok, the idea was cool. our server was very nice, the issue was with the food and a very confusing "all you can eat". 1. We ordered all you can eat and when you hear that, you can assume that everything in the menu is included unless otherwise stated. The nigiri and sashimi were included in the all you can eat HOWEVER, $1.05 was added PER PIECE to ensure they didn't lose money. that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard.. don't add it to the "All you can eat" and add an extra charge if you're afraid of people eating too much. 2. We were seated at the end of the conveyor so we got whatever was left or what people didn't want. Very slow and for the 90 minute time limit, you're not eating very much and waiting more than enjoying your dining experience. 3. You could hear the manager in the kitchen yelling at his employees, I personally don't think that's right and he shouldn't be able to treat people like that. I work in the food industry and realize it can be stressful but to talk like that where your customers can hear is unprofessional. 4. a server brought a dirty dish to the lady putting food on the conveyor that needed to be washed, she used a rag sitting next to her to wipe it off and used it for another roll of sushi going out to the customers. I stopped eating after that. That's gross. 5. I actually got food poisoning from eating here. I could tell right away the fish was poor quality and the "mix" used for the California roll tasted off. onion soup wasn't onion soup it was a sour mess that smelled like wet dog. 4 of us ate here and 2 of us got sick. I understand the draw of this restaurant with all you can eat for $14.95, it's why I tried it. I also understand why people say it's like grocery sushi, I actually think it's worse. The menu looks large, but they charge extra for all the Nigiri and Sashimi, as well as Spider Roll, Eel roll & several others. They only had about 8 that went around on the "train" and the rest had to be ordered. On the train, you get 4 pieces, if you order it because you get tired of waiting, you get 8 pieces. If you don't eat everything, you are charged extra. On a good note, my server was friendly and wonderful, although I would prefer a digital ordering system, so I wouldn't have to wait so long. They definitely stretch out the way time, so you get full on less food. I won't be returning to Sakura. read more
