They had an excellent choice of colors, but ultimately I chose a classic gel french pedicure. Amy got me started in the bowl and gave me a menu of their services with prices listed clearly, I chose the Deluxe Spa Pedicure for $50, it included scrub, massage, hot rocks, and warm towels. Honestly this pedicure was so relaxing and I highly recommend getting the Deluxe as an extra little treat for less than $20 more than the basic spa pedicure!! Amy had amazing attention to detail and would ask me periodically if I liked the nail shape, or french design etc. She did an amazing job and having tried many salons in Modesto including some chains, I can confidently say this is the best pedicure I've had in a very long time! People don't give attention to detail anymore, but Amy was fantastic and took her time, and still had me out in under an hr! They were upfront in their pricing and in total I paid $72 for the Deluxe Pedicure, Gel polish, French Nail art. They do accept card as payment, but only accept tips in cash and don't have an ATM so be aware of that. I highly recommend Mimi's Nails and especially Amy for pedicures. Without warning, he started clipping them off and then used an old artificial nail to pry the remaining acrylic from my natural nail. I was looking down at my phone when I suddenly felt intense pain. When I looked up, my natural nail had been cut open and was bleeding. The technician asked if I was scared. I told him, "No, I'm not scared, I'm in pain." I also explained that this was not the proper way to remove acrylic nails. Instead of stopping, he attempted to continue. At that point, I told him not to touch my nails and that they needed to be soaked off properly. As a licensed cosmetologist and salon owner, I understand professional sanitation and safety procedures. The way my nails were being removed was unacceptable and resulted in an injury. Another staff member eventually took over, but what disappointed me most was that no one apologized for hurting me or acknowledged what had happened. Accidents can happen, but professionalism, concern for the client, and accountability matter. Unfortunately, I did not receive any of those things during my visit.

The staff was kind, Ben (my nail tech) was attentive and his work was honestly the best I've had done in a long time. He did exactly what I asked, paid lots attention to detail, and didn't rush through his work. I am beyond satisfied, they didn't hurt my nail bed or pull too hard on my cuticles. Another plus for me is the massage chairs... they are Amazing!!!! Upon looking at the reviews, I found that many of the negative reviews are a bit older, so I would not pay much attention to them. I'm currently awaiting an appointment with a podiatrist to see about just getting the affected toenails completely removed. Then I got builder gel with very short tips for the first time, with Terry. They couldn't be any more perfect than they came out! Exactly what I wanted. I was going to say no polish on the top but he showed me a clear tiny bit tinted top and I agreed. I want to go out my real nails, and this will get me on my way. I like that I could relax and let them do what they do so well, without having to make small talk.. outside of checking in to make sure I'm okay and that what they were doing was good. After confirming, I came in and was a walk in after booking an appointment for my niece. The salon is clean and beautiful. However, the "Gel x" full set by Linda didn't actually use Apres Gel X product-which is technically fraudulent. Being an Apres user, I am familiar with the brand, and know the product. I waited to see how the "product" would hold up.. The nail art by Vincent was amazing! Yet, after leaving the salon, within two hours, one of my VERY EXPENSIVE "not Gel X" nails fell off. I am uncertain how the others will hold up. This is not typical of the Gel X product. If you are going to claim that you use Gel x- USE THE ACTUAL PRODUCT. I will be reaching out to Apres to advise them of this situation. In the meantime I will likely find a salon that actually uses the Apres product. Unfortunate because the nail art from Vincent and this salon is beautifully done.
