One of the coolest rooftop bars in Pittsburgh. Located at the top of the Tryp hotel in Lawrenceville, this bar provides great views of the city while having some food options along with really decent drinks. Went during winter so couldn't really use the outdoor space given all the snow but will come back to check it out in better weather
I was excited to experience a rare Saturday happy hour as advertised on Over Eden's website. Alas, when I popped in around 5:30 I discovered that the space was closed for a private event. People in the lobby were dressed to the nines, so maybe there was a wedding reception or something equally fancy that night. Next time, I will be sure to call ahead to make sure they are actually open to the common folk!
Fantastic views, drinks and company! The staff is always so sweet and the food is so good. Highly recommend the truffle fries! Can't wait for my next rooftop outing
I am giving a star for views and a star for the drinks. I think that the menu here is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. Their small plates section is measly and the entrees and hand helds are all over the place. I thought the dip platter was ridiculous and the Brussels sprouts dry. They didn't have the third option in stock. Overall was an enjoyable time, service was good and again the views were fantastic. Great for a casual sunset hang out...except there were no small plates with flavor. I think they need to rethink their menu and use better recipes as well.
White sangria was alright. Had nothing on draft just cider??? All other beer bottled. No wine list. Glasses had hard water marks....now I sound like a stickler. Oops. The view was nice. Rooftop had seating. Kinda dirty...obv it's outside. Brussel sprouts were salty.
We came to Over Eden for happy hour and I would highly recommend it for the spectacular rooftop views! Located in a hotel, you'll need to take the elevator up to this rooftop bar. You order at the bar if you want to sit outside. My friends got negronis because they were on the happy hour menu, but the prices unfortunately didn't feel like happy hour prices (think $8+ per drink). I enjoyed the raspberry mint mule off of their regular menu and would recommend that! Word for the wise, if you leave your tab open, they hold onto your card, so make sure to grab your card before leaving (I left my card behind and trekked back a few hours later to retrieve it).
Went with a friend to grab drinks and something to eat. Went on a Friday and we were able to sit down right away. So I thought off to a great start! I was wrong the service was terrible. Our waitress hardly checked on us. It took probably 20 min to order our drink. The food came out pretty fast I will say. But we asked for our check and she forgot and we had to ask another server who was walking by for our checks. We ordered chicken taco egg roll and it was so good. We got the truffle fries which were good. And we also ordered the brussel sprouts which were good but definitely needed a dipping sauce with them. I got the sunset #2 to drink and it was good. The view was the best part because we were able to sit at the window and look out at the city
We went to Over Eden on a cloudy Friday evening. To access Over Eden, you have to take the elevator on the ground floor and take it to the top (5F). The aesthetic is calming with a modern feel. There weren't many people when we arrive near opening and there weren't many people when we left around 7pm (which is great in my opinion). We sat at the bar and were able to have a wonderful view of the skyline as we enjoyed our happy hour sangria, truffle fries, and chicken taco egg rolls. The sangria was amazing (some of best I've had in the city). The truffles fries were probably the best I've had in the city. The chicken tacos were different from what I would normally order but they were delicious nonetheless. The service was amazing and our bartenders were always attentive to our needs (water refills, more food/drinks) but weren't overbearing. They were amazing! I'll definitely return again once the weather is better to try out the balcony dining area.
It was great! Went for Friday happy hour (5:00pm-7:00pm). The sangria was so tasty and the happy hour truffle fries were the best truffle fries I've ever had. Also got the chicken taco egg rolls, which were tasty, but the truffle fries were superior. Friendly and attentive service. It wasn't busy at all, a good handful of people around, but not crowded, which was a nice vibe. Pretty view of the city from the bar seating. Will be back to enjoy the rooftop when the weather warms up
When your cab is served in a wine glass that still has water dripping down the inside of it, I guess you know they at least washed it since the last customer! Turned me off from getting a fresh opinion on the food, but the view from the rooftop is great.
Views are amazing. Food 8 drink is okay. Nice bartenders. Def go here for the vibes/scenery.
Recently attended a wedding at this restaurant! Stephanie who was the event coordinator was excellent and extremely friendly! Food was excellent! The salad was delicious with pears, craisans, blue cheese crumbles and a nice dressing! I had the short ribs, smashed potatoes and asparagus! Everything was delicious! Sometimes service is spotty with events but the servers did a great job! Bartenders were excellent! The restaurant transformed into a very cool spot and the rooftop patio was awesome! Great spot for a special event!

There's an old saying. 'People can like your food but will return for the service.' That holds true with this place. I would return for the service alone. Maddy was our server and she was fantastic. It was quite busy when we arrived, but you wouldn't know it by her performance. She was quick, helpful and flashed a million dollar smile. In fact from what I saw everyone was working hard and efficient to keep it moving and everything tidy. From Maddy to the runners. And kudos to the guy cooking in the kitchen. He made not have been pumping rays of sunshine through that little window but he was pumping out awesome food at an inhumane pace. Great job Now let's talk about the food and drinks. The drinks were well made and no skimpy. I only had one but we ordered an array of food. The highest priced item is $22 with everything else averaging $11 Even the appetizers were under $10 And FYI Anton's almost famous burger should be famous! It was excellent The atmosphere was kicking and jovial. I highly recommend this place read more
Went for happy hour drinks in a Tuesday, made reservations ahead of time, and the place was still poppin! I'm glad we had a reservation because the waitlist (when we left) was starting to grow. Our experience was great! There were three of us in the party, and we were served our drinks and fries within a reasonable time and by friendly staff. I got the sophisticated lady and the children's hospital drink (I forget the name), and they were delicious. The music wasn't too loud either, and the views were fan! read more
Over Eden is a hidden gem on the border of Lawrenceville. You could almost miss it crossing the bridge, as the hotel that it's located on top of comes up on you fast. Once you enter the hotel lobby, there are signs directing you to the elevator to go to the top floor. The view from the top is amazing, and it feels like you can see the whole city from there! Due to COVID, the tables were very spread out (both inside and outside) and all of the windows were open. They have an extensive drinks menu and a unique food menu. While most of the options were a little out of the norm, everything we ordered was delicious! Overall, the service was pretty standard but the view and atmosphere really make stopping in Over Eden a MUST! read more

So we've been there multiple times and I can't understand why they can't get the basics right? No lying it's a beautiful spot and a great view with so much potential. However, they can't get the service down. People are always so stand offish and the service is slower than slow. I've gone at various times and it's the same no matter. The drinks are still over priced and weak for what you're getting. This last time we thought we'd just stop for a drink and stand/sit outside and enjoy the weather and view. First we were told we couldn't go outside unless we were eating. The deck was practically empty as was the inside. Weird? It's like they don't understand why people come. No one is coming to sit at a corner table and be ignored by staff? It's really amazing how someone can't get a proper service program going. The food is better but service still creates an uncomfortable experience. read more

On a scale of romances to documentaries, Over Eden reminds me of The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. Bird's eye view along with simple grandeur presents an experience. Over Eden, a rooftop bar in Lawrenceville, would be easy to miss if you weren't looking. Service was superb on an early Saturday night for our group of four. We enjoyed drinks, apps, and entrees. Every bite was delicious, and the grilled swordfish with butternut risotto was excellent. Pro Tip: Park in the hotel/valet parking lot, and don't forget to have your pass validated before you leave. read more

Beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline in Lawrenceville. It's located on top of the tryp hotel. I was pleasantly surprised with the rooftop bar because I've been away from Pittsburgh my hometown for 8 years. Since then, so many new developments and things to do have spring up. It's a beautiful view and they have delicious drinks. I ended up ordering the crispy Brussel sprouts with the dangerous woman cocktail. The Brussels were delicious and crispy. I thought the homemade ketchup was very good and the dangerous woman was a play on the margarita. They had a sign at the entrance that there are reservation only but we just walked up without a reservation. They let us sit at the bar with no issues. Great instagrammable and rooftop spot to visit in the newly gentrified Lawrenceville. read more

mehhhh the negroni was alright the view was pretty dang good. not many people were there. service was good. go if you want a chill rooftop bar read more
Wonderful Mediterranean themed food but expect a very limited menu. It's mostly apps and sandwich or salad. The staff is very friendly and well trained. They have a fairly good draft list, although the pours are quite small, even for craft beer. There's a wonderful rooftop view of the city, and another of Troy Hill. The outdoor patio is quite spectacular. Eventually the Brick Shop will be opening downstairs, which will feature a full menu. read more

This place has so much potential but it just isn't it. KILLER rooftop views makes this one of the best spots to be, but everything else is disappointing. I have given over Eden multiple chances to woo me, but every time the service is exceptionally slow, the food isn't great, and the drinks are way too overpriced for what you get. It took me 45 minutes to get a glass of wine! And the server hadn't even taken our food order yet. With a little revamping, this place will be the place to be. read more

My second time here. I agree with most reviews below. Unbeatable view and location and decoration EXCEPT the drink. For my first time here, I ordered a lychee cocktail, it was disappointing. My husband got beer and he said it was okay. This time we brought a friend over, I ordered cocktail again (different one) HOWEVER it was super alcoholic with no savoring taste at all. I asked for more honey & juice to add in then I managed to drink half a cup. My friend's mocktail was sour to death....We couldn't believe it. My husband's beer was just fine. I don't think I would ever come back again. Great view indeed! But everything else was below average. What a waste. Sigh~ read more
The menu is painfully small. It was a stormy night so the outside was closed. The "local" craft beer list that was promised was primarily a Fat Heads and IC Light. So why, you may ask, did I give them 4 stars? The short rib sandwich was absolutely amazing! The view was still cool and I was hoping for a good lightening storm because it would have been awesome. And they had Bells Oberon, which isn't local, but is one of my favorites. They had 2 salads, 2 tacos, a couple of appetizers, and the short rib sandwich. Under normal circumstances, I would have avoided that like the plague. But I was really hungry and I had made homemade fish tacos at home that were amazing. So. There you have it. I rated this restaurant primarily on one really good sandwich. Oh, the service was good. Not great, but read more

*Visited summer 2020* Due to the covid restrictions, they could only have a certain number of people at the rooftop at a time. We waited a little bit over an hour before we finally got a text for our table. The elevator right behind the host leads you to the rooftoop. The drinks were super. At the time they were still serving dinner food; very tasty and full of flavors. Check out the view ! read more

Over Eden is one of my go to summer spots in the city. Not only is the view wonderful, they always have fresh, interesting choices beyond your regular burger and fries. The drinks were so good we had to get a second round because we couldn't just choose two! Our server was attentive and had great recommendations. read more

Great Pittsburgh rooftop! Have been here three times and most recently went at sunset which was so nice. They also have string lights hanging which I am sure are lovely at night. Their drinks are good and have a decent selection. I really enjoy their tequila cocktails. I have always loved their food, which is very reasonably priced. These beef lettuce wrap were delicious and only $8. The only issue is their table size/setting. They have a mix of typical sized hightops and very small circle tables that are difficult to fit anything on if you are eating AND drinking. Service has always been good, however most recently was a little long when even though it was quite slow. Good spot to stop by before a night out in lawrenceville. read more
The first thing that must be said is this: the view is phenomenal. I'd almost just recommend going there to drink and gaze and Pittsburgh. Everything after that just goes downhill. The food runners are way nice than the waiters. The apps are better than the mains. It just seems like a confused place. We ordered several appetizers (dipping sauces mostly) that came with pita. The pita was very delicious. The hummus was pretty good and there was an interesting spiced carrot (I think?). I felt like there were just unusual spices on everything. I'm not a fan of throwing sumac on something willy nilly, and there was a lot of that. I was filling up but decided to order a falafel sandwich. Except the menu was confusing and the toppings appeared to be in a different part and there was a salad hiding amongst the sandwiches so I accidentally ordered a falafel salad. More sumac. Honestly...the falafel was the worst I've ever had. I had three bites of the main and it was just disappointing. I'd only come back for the view. read more

Great view!! Haven't tried food yet, but drinks were ok. Service a bit sketchy, took 10 minutes at bar before anyone asked us what we wanted to drink. Amazing how a great view can make up for questionable service. read more
We went for an early group dinner with friends and my grandparents. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised given the mediocre reviews, our party loved the meal and had a great time enjoying the view. I also found many vegan items while my family enjoyed meat, which is perfect for ensuring everyone is happy and has something. One critique is that many dishes come with sides included. Our server didn't say anything as we ordered the sharable PASTRAMI SHORT RIB that (at the time at least) came with all the dips, then we also ordered all the dips. The same thing with the falafel and dips. We ended up with duplicates of many things that I think was rather misleading and poor service to let happen. It was almost comical, and points to a misleading menu. I think the menu could be tweaked to improve some additional things, and the restaurant seems to be undecided - is it a bar meant for happy hours with a view and small plates, or a full on restaurant? The menu wasn't clear, and the space layout also didn't seem decided. We were at a table for six in the corner, surrounded by happy hour high tops, so the vibe was mismatched. I'll happily return and look forward to Over Eden's evolution as it figures itself out. I enjoyed: CARROT - beautifully roasted carrot, even without the ricotta it held up as a great dish FALAFEL - I ordered several side orders that were fresh and crispy, which also come with hummus (misleading) SWEET POTATO - basically a roasted sweet potato, but it was good HUMMUS - a little heavy on the oil, but tasty BEET BABA - I love babaganoush and theirs was very good, a little too cold though, in contrast to the hot pita PITA - I would prefer they stop pouring oil on it, because it was light and fluffy and delicious without PUNCH DRUNK PITCHER - A great pitcher of a fruity drink. This is where I think the restaurant's overall Instagram appeal makes more sense for happy hour and brunch. Wouldn't order again: ZA'ATAR CHIPS - meh, I like spice and these just weren't spiced OLIVES - not special Since going, I've heard and seen that the menu is changing, so maybe some of these fixes have already been made, it seems to be in good hands, so I look forward to returning to see. read more
The potential of this place is honestly what makes it so disappointing. Kind of difficult to find if you don't know about it & you have to go through a hotel lobby. The rooftop view is gorgeous & what makes the place, not sure how this place does in poor weather because the best part is the outside seating. We made a reservation so were able to be seated quickly with a great view. The service was SO SLOW. It seemed like there were plenty of servers & we were only ordering drinks and an app. Got our menus & it was probably 20 minutes before they came back to get our order. Drinks were good, a little overpriced. Also got truffle fries which were very good, small rotating menu & nothing else seemed very appealing to us. We were completely done with our drinks and had to flag down our server for another round & for the check. If the view & night wasn't so good we would have left. read more

A superb space with views of Pittsburgh and the surrounding hills. Food and service were excellent, with nice options for vegetarians. The Brussels sprouts are a must. A great option during COVID times, being outdoors and with all servers wearing masks. There's also bar seating inside at wide open windows. read more

Mixed feelings about Over Eden. Good: I think the space is great! Amazing views, nice ambiance and decor, a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Plus a wide range of seating options from hightop tables, the bar, long tables for larger parties, and normal dining tables. The not so good: When we arrived (6ish pm on a Saturday) the greeter at the elevator asked if we had reservations. When we informed her that we didn't, she seemed a little frazzled and kept making comments on how only 1 more non reservation guest could go up after us for space concerns. We could not tell if she was joking or not. So naturally I expected the place to be packed. When we got up there, there wasn't anyone to direct us to a table so we opted to sit outside. There was PLENTY of space? We ordered a pitcher of the pitcher of the Prickly Pear drink to split between 3 people. It was so watered down that it just tasted like a light flavored water... I would've rather tried a cocktail ($22 for the pitcher) After about an hour and a half we had some friends try and meet us but they were not allowed up by the elevator greeter because it was "full". There were still a lot of tables around us that were empty. I understand if there are reservations but during our whole duration of being there, those tables never filled up. We had our friends wait for us downstairs since there was no other option. It ended up being an extra 15-20 minutes because it was so hard to flag down any waiter or get the bill. We ended up leaving cash on the table because it was approaching the 20 minute mark and everyone we asked for the bill never brought it to us. I think this place has a lot of potential with such a great space but work flow needs to be improved. read more

Great spot for a drink and some appetizers, especially in the warmers months when the outside, rooftop patio is open. Food menu is pretty limited but all items are made fresh, in-house, and are pretty delicious. Try the house-made warm pita with some of the dips as a starter, you won't be disappointed! Most delicious pita I have had (ask for it warm!). Prices are a little steep for the portion sizes, but again everything I've had has been fresh and quite tasty. Some vegetarian and vegan options. I've enjoyed the falafel pita many times, hold yogurt tahini and it's vegan friendly. Falafel has been a bit over fried a few times. The covered inside isn't the greatest ambiance, their attraction is definitely the outside dining. Located on the 5th floor of the TRYP Hotel. Go for the great views of downtown and outside seating in the warmer months. read more
I revisited Over Eden and was less "wow'd" by this visit. Last time we were able to sit outside and enjoy the views. This time we were stuck inside because of the cooler weather. The noise level was incredibly loud and the place was not full. I asked about changing the tequila option in one of the specialty cocktails, which was met with the response of "sorry, we can't they are batched". The server was very nice and attentive, as well as the food runner. We planned on having a full meal, but left after the appetizer and first round of drinks. If you are going to patron Over Eden, go when it's nice out to be outside and share a bottle of wine. Otherwise, hard pass from my point of view. read more
I love that this space is vegan / vegetarian friendly. Pittsburgh is an amazing food scene and this is a welcome compliment to the fabric. This cuisine is Mediterranean, light, and $$$ out of $$$$$. The staff is amazing, especially Lex - she floats through the space with such a positive and welcoming vibe that the atmosphere is set by her smiles! Cocktails are also competitive to other menus in the city - you will need to ask for your preferred classic as these are all unique to the space. This space is physically also PERFECT for a runway fashion show!!!!!! Much love, your local queer (@mcgobro) read more

Over Eden's spectacular view of the city of Pittsburgh is made only better by their updated menu and refreshing cocktails. This summer it's especially important to choose where we dine carefully and I can say that the staff at Over Eden take extra care in regards to safety. With the open air rooftop dining, spaced out tables, and friendly servers I was able to enjoy a socially distanced dinner with the best view in the city. For food I started with the burrata which was creamy, bright and refreshing. Our table shared a basket of fries which were crispy, salty and a must have even if you're just getting drinks. For my entree I had the fried chicken which was crispy, well seasoned and perfect for dipping in the house made honey mustard (which I took home after the chicken was gone, it was that good!) Not pictured because I ate it too fast to snap a pic was the Salted Butter Semi-Freddo which is enough to feed 2 people but you're going to want it all to yourself. I highly recommend Over Eden to anyone looking for a place to eat and drink with a great view read more
I've been wanting to go here for a while but there was always a wait. My friend and I went on a Friday night and were able to sit at the bar. It's a beautiful restaurant on the top of a hotel. There is also an outside section, but it was slightly too cold for us and I didn't see any heaters. My friend is vegetarian so we just got fries and hummus and they were both amazing. The service was great and the cocktails were amazing. This is definitely a place where you can get a good speciality cocktail or just an old favorite. Highly recommend! read more
