Went for first time last Friday. Place was busy which was great to see. Staff was stretched but were very pleasant and helpful. Regarding food, the menu is limited but what they do serve is very good. We had 5-6 different items (avocado hummus, fries, both types of tacos, fried brussel sprouts, avocado salad) and would order them all again. Cocktails were okay - a little sweet for our taste but really liked that they used spirits from the local distilleries. Last but not least - great, great, views of downtown Pittsburgh. Definitely a photo opportunity for couples and groups. read more

I'm not a person that typically writes a review but the utter disappointment from my time at Over Eden could not go unnoticed. My cousins were having a smallish get together for newly engaged couple and while I understand group gratuities. The restaurant was incapable of allowing the guests to pay for drinks and food separately while maintaining their party rate gratuity, they claimed they could only process one check which is hard to believe with todays technology in the service industry. And when people who came for a brief time wanted to just go to the bar to purchase drinks they were treated with a great deal of animosity and disrespect and denied service. In fact the server and bartender got so confrontational with multiple members of our group and even the manager stated she was not going to deal with this from "you people!" whatever that was referring to, hopefully not what I inferred it to mean. But at any rate the amount of people the group reserved for at the restaurant had an issue with providing enough seats for and continued to come and pester the attendees to move and pushed guests into a corner. Overall probably one of the worst experiences I've had out in the city in ages and I definitely will not be back nor will ever recommend this awful and demeaning establishment. I would really give them a 0/5 stars and hope that the entire staff works to improve overall quality of experience. read more

I love Food and view. Everything was perfect. I was thinking this place will my favorite place in Pittsburgh. I was recommending my friends until seeing my bank statement. They charged me more than my bill. I couldn't figure out first. I called the restaurant to let them know my bill and my statement is different. The staff on phone was so rude. This kind of mistake can occur, it is not so big deal, when they say sorry instead of acting they are not understanding you. Food is really good. read more

Horrible service. Went to the bar with my wife bout a month ago for 20 minutes. Never acknowledged by the 2 bartenders. Went back a week later because I really like the upstairs. Asked the elevator attendant how long the wait was in the restaurant. His reply ? "Full!" Asked how long the wait was at the bar. Answer? "Full!" I live down the street and have money to spend. No way I'll go back there. PS: and don't try to book on line or call there. Nothing works. read more

Well the view was really nice but it's literally being run by teenagers, at half capacity it took over an hour and a half to get a burger and one drink. (Both of which were pretty good honestly) I just wonder what this place does when it's actually busy. read more

I had a reservation @ 7pm ordered our drinks, then our food .. Food took 1:45 to arrive to our table.. I had to ask the waitress where our order was.. We only ordered a few items off menu because of the limited menu items.. This restaurant is not Diverse.. There's only White people employed.. No other race onsite. This was a horrible experience. Only nice part is the rooftop. Service horrible, drinks good.. This restaurant needs Beyond Diversity Training.. read more

Might be the worst place to actually order a drink in Pittsburgh. Views were good but not worth standing at the bar for 30 mins waiting on a drink. Similar to my previous experience so they were at least consistent. read more

If it wasn't for the view I'd give it one star! This place is trying to be a super cool city rooftop, but it's fake and pretentious! The place is usually empty and they judge you for not having a reservation. I had a reservation but then went outside to take in the view. By the time I came back, they were cleaning and moving our tables for more pretend customers! My sunglasses were still on the damn table as was my water! Also the drinks are horrible! The pitcher was watered down. I'm from NYC and I've lived in cities all over the country. This place is destined to fail unless it finds its true identity. So much potential here! Now on to the food. I will say, I think their sandwich/wraps are not terrible and not very expensive...nothing crazy delicious but edible if you are hungry. I would say its a good meal to soak up the alcohol, but like I said, their drinks barely had any in them. I also tried the dips/hummus platter. It was very very basic hummus, except for one that was orange. The orange one might have been carrot based, it had some hints of Indian spices, cumin, coriander, curry power, garam masala. It was different, and it was the only thing I liked. I expected a better and tastier menu, since the chef is well known, but maybe they have since improved. In summary, go here for the view and nothing else! Pre-game well, eat before you come, and make sure you make a reservation, maybe make two reservations in case they want to kick you out of your table! read more

On Saturday, September 7th, a group of 8 of us decided to try the rooftop bar at Over Eden. It was the first time for each of us. When we arrived, we were seated at a high-top table but were told there would be no server and to just order our drinks at the bar. After we all returned to the table with our drinks, we each noticed that our cocktails were really weak. I had the "Lost Time" and it tasted like lemon-flavored simple syrup. They use those tiny little ice cubes at this place and the glass was packed to the top with ice, so I only got about 3 sips out of the whole drink. My friends who had other cocktails had the same experience. My friends who ordered beer were pissed when they found that the beers came in a rocks glass, rather than a beer glass. So it was like a "mini beer" but without the mini price.  While we were discussing how Over Eden must be making a huge profit by not actually putting alcohol in their drinks, a guy at the table behind us could be heard loudly proclaiming to his friend "I'm going up to the bar to ask them to put some liquor in my drink!" Apparently we weren't the only ones having this experience. We decided to leave after one drink so each of us went up to the bar to pay. We waited... and waited... and waited. We could not get the bartender's attention. There were servers walking around and we wondered why we couldn't just order/pay using servers. I finally stopped one of them and asked him to please close our tabs so we could leave.   Over Eden is pretty new and new places tend to have growing pains. I get it. It wasn't really my experience AT THE BAR that pissed me off. It was the way they handled it afterwards... A few days later I sent an e-mail to the restaurant's general e-mail box and described my experience. I wanted to give them a chance to respond before I wrote a review on Yelp. A few days went by with no response. I sent the e-mail again and asked "Did you guys ever get my first e-mail?" I received a response from the Director of Sales who indicated that she would forward my e-mail to someone from Food & Beverage. A few days later I get a joke of a response from the Food & Beverage Manager. She wrote that she "understands" I had a bad experience and that they are about to introduce a new fall menu and she hopes I will come back and try them again. That was it! No apology, no asking how they could make it right, no follow-up whatsoever. Her response appeared to be cut & pasted from a response to someone else's complaint because it was very generic and if she actually read my e-mail she would know that their MENU had nothing to do with my complaint. (Or maybe she means in the fall they will actually be adding liquor to their drinks?) I decided to give this one more shot so I sent an e-mail to the group that manages the restaurant. That was two weeks ago. Never got a response. read more

I came here with 6 friends excited to try the food and enjoy the wonderful warm evening with friends only for the night to be ruined by the service and flavor of the food. We knew it was busy and we're fine with the 1.5hr wait for our table and when we came back we were seated immediately which was nice. We were excited but then it went SOUTH REAL QUICK! Our server, Dan, had no personality and was very inattentive to my friends and I. We waited roughly 30mins for 2 vodka sodas, 2 dirty martinis, and 3 Miller lites. We understood food service ended at 10 and we got our table at 9:30 so we were ready to order but it wasn't until 9:50 that we were asked if we wanted food. The miso ramen was flavorless and unappealing and the fritto misto was extremely greasy. My friends also mentioned that the restrooms were disgusting and not kept up. The trash cans were over filled and the toilets were gross. My friends and I all work or have worked in food service and we understand lack of staff and busy nights but Tonight was an awful experience all around. read more

Brand new rooftop bar/restaurant in Lawrenceville, making this a great spot for drinks and happy hour in Pittsburgh! I went to happy hour and was able to try a few different types of drinks off of their menu (we each ordered a different one to share) and they are tasty! I do not recommend eating here necessarily but definitely for drinks and to catch up with friends! They have indoor and outdoor patio seating and the view from any seat is incredible! read more

Wildly overrated- the wait staff is rude, the bar service slow, unresponsive and the decor was bare. Drinks were average at best- watered down and the beers being poured looked flat. There are great views, but I'd always suggest a reservation unless you'd like to be cramped at the bar. read more

Great view of the city, fun atmosphere, great drink selection. Came on a Friday night and they were "at capacity" so had to wait in line to take the elevator upstairs. I'm sure management will work to improve this, since it's still a new bar/ hotel. Marcus was very friendly and helpful while we waited. Id recommend everyone come check our this great rooftop bar! read more

This place is so cool! I love love love the rooftop bar. The drink are a little expensive, but the vibe and view is so worth it. I had one of the pitchers and it was delicious and refreshing. The staff was very friendly and our server was hilarious. We all had a really good time and will be back. read more

Donut Disappointment...... The food: Was good but nothing special, similar to Alladians level if you have ever been there. Beer overpriced for only 12oz as some other posts have mentioned, but if you are super price conscious just go to Alladians. The view: So cool, unique view of the city and Lawrenceville. My partner and I sat on the same side of the table. Definitely what you are paying for. The Service: Had me wondering if I had offended our waitress in a past life. Just not very caring and absent. I didn't get the vibe that the waitstaff was very invested in the success of the restaurant. The donut disappointment: We went there on a 7:45 reservation and were taking our time so by the time dessert rolled around it was about 9:35 PM. "Kitchen closes at 9PM sorry" my waitress said when we ordered the donuts. THEN we see them. A delicious bowl of freshly made donuts being carried right by us almost in slow motion to a table of birthday girls 15 minutes later!! Super disappointing experience even if it came from a lack of communication it still made us feel that we were not as important as other customers. Prob will go back in 2 months, we are all humans and I guess they are "figuring it out", but we left kinda disappointed cuz of the whole donut debacle. I am happy for the birthday gals who got to enjoy the delicious looking (i can only guess if they actually tasted good) donuts. read more

One of the best views of the city! Cocktails were tasty and creative- also a great beer list and wine menu. I was here for a work dinner so I also was able to check out the event space- like the rest of the hotel it has an industrial look with flair. The drink I had was delicious and I also enjoyed the chardonnay I had with dinner. Dinner was served buffet style and included: salad, chicken, rice, and vegetables. It was fine but nothing special, however the green goddess dressing served with the salad was out of this world delicious. I will have to go back soon for a full assessment! read more

Stay away. This place is Pittsburgh's version of a tourist trap. I ordered a pilsner and it arrived in an 8oz scotch glass. And it was $7. Then my wife ordered a cocktail for $13 which was mostly non alcoholic and arrived in an ice packed glass. read more

Love how this old school was turned into this boutique hotel. Went here for some cocktails and to see the amazing view of the city. I highly recommend the chiffron. It's the perfect summer drink. We had the sweet potato appetizer that had the right amount of sweet and tangy flavor. Then for dinner we both had a rice bowl. I had the falafel and my wife had the kafta. I really like how they combined the tahini and ahma sauce on the dish. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options which is pretty cool. I will definitely be back. read more

I have been here multiple times, and it has such an inviting atmosphere. A perfect place for the Summer or Winter. The food is great and the staff has always been extremely friendly (especially Tina) read more

A new place is always welcome in Lawrenceville and hopefully Over Eden will settle in nicely in the neighborhood. The Good The view is amazing. You can see the whole city from the bar and restaurant which is pretty incredible. The waitstaff were all super friendly and seemed to be happy working there which hopefully means they are being treated well by management. The Neutral The credit card machine was not working. Not a big deal but it seems like a reasonable thing to get figured out ahead of time. Food options were surprisingly limited and not great. The halloumi was the best thing we had but was a tiny potion. The salad and sandwich were both fairly uninspiring. The only entree sized option was beef ribs for $125 sounded interesting but didn't make sense for 2 people. The Bad Parking is valet only and costs $10. In an area with fairly limited street parking (for Pittsburgh) this is going to be annoying for the neighbors as yet more people are fighting for the same spots. The whole main lot was empty and we just parked one block away in what I imagine was is their overflow lot at 41st and Foster(there was no one monitoring the lot). Overall Go for a drink and the view. Sit at the bar and have a snack. Then go to one of the many incredible restaurants in Lawrenceville. Walk, don't drive. read more

Like a few other reviewers have mentioned, I think this place is still coming into its own, and because of that, they're just okay for the time being. Good: - The views of city (although far in the distance) are pretty great. - The decor and design of the space feels fresh and stylish. - The dips platter is delicious, and the fresh pita is pillowy, warm and delicious. Not so Good: - The portions are tiny for the price. I understand that this is a new, fancy-ish, hotel in Lawrenceville, but I really think they missed the mark when it comes to portion size. Especially- considering a lot of their options are vegetarian/vegan and don't require expensive ingredients. - The prickly pear cocktail. At first, I thought we maybe got a bad batch, but after reading other reviews, I think this drink just might be a dud. I like sweet, but this was a little too saccharine for me to choke down. It basically tasted like watery, liquid cotton candy. I hope this place can work out the kinks because I think the concept is really cool, but for the time being, I feel like they're coasting on the views a little too much. read more

The food is absolutely amazing. Loved all small plates. The pastrami beef ribs were amazing. The scene is really fun and cool and casual. Chef Brandon Blumenfeld is a real artist. It's a great venue with the indoor and outdoor roof top seating. The view of Pittsburgh is spectacular. Friendly service. They are new so still working through stuff but I think it's going to be a huge hit. Can't wait to go back again and again. read more

I really enjoy the atmosphere here. The drinks are delicious and view is dope! My only only wish is the menu was a little more versatile. I think Mediterranean food requires an acquired palate. I did enjoy the shawarma but I wish there were just a few more to choose from. We had hummus and pita, olives and a few other small bites, they were just okay. Other than that everything was great! read more

Service was very good however drinks were weak and a bit stingy on the alcohol when paying top $. My cosmo was so sour I had to ask for more cranberry just to be able to drink it. On a positive note the views are great and our bartender was very nice. read more

Went here for my one year anniversary with my girlfriend. It was great. The view is very unique. Mount Washington overlooks the city but this is a very different angle. From Eden you can see the strip district, polish hill, Troy hill, Lower Lawrenceville, and parts of the hill district. It's a beautiful view. We ordered the dip platter and the sandwich with Kafta. Both were brought out quickly and they were delicious. We also ordered the Chiffon and pink grapefruit rosemary soda. Both drinks were great. I put in the reservation that it was our anniversary. The manager and hostess wished us a happy anniversary. They also gave us a complimentary dessert. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the view. read more

I had reserved a table for nine well in advance of my wife's birthday and we had invited her friends and their spouses to join us. A week before the reservation, an Over Eden employee who did not provide their name nor an apology left a voicemail for me, saying they were cancelling my reservation because they had a private event. The unprofessionalism of not leaving a contact name and disregarding a potential patron's reservation with zero accountability or offering to remedy somehow is 100% reason that none of us will make reservations at Over Eden again, and we will be sure to spread the word on social media and review apps like Yelp about this experience. read more

Stayed at the Tryp Pittsburgh hotel and headed to the roof for a meal. Wow - so much more than a meal! The view is spectacular (skyline is 4 miles west...gorgeous!) and the food was outstanding. I have very little experience with Mediterranean food but this trip made me a fan! The menu is not huge but the dishes were delicious! the Baba Ganoush was addictive and the Falafel was mouth-watering. Very well done, and capped off with great service from Philip & Co. I felt like a local and they were generous with portions. Solid bar/selection of drinks and I have been back twice. My friends enjoyed it and ate outside under a star-lit sky. Love this place - a great destination experience! read more

Laurel and Tori were the best servers I have ever encountered in my entire existence. They are the sweetest, kindest people. SO easy to talk to and connect with.
