Instead of going to one of our usual spots for lunch today, we decided to try something new. I came across this place in one of the Yelp emails about hot & new places. I checked out some pictures and decided I needed to try this place. I was a little weary of trying this place for one reason: my boyfriend. He's from Philly and always criticizes all of the sandwiches/hoagies here in Arizona. I was definitely worried he would be upset that we drove almost 30 minutes for a sandwich. We drove past it on the way there. It's located in a small strip mall next to a Water N' Ice store. There aren't many parking spots so once people realize how much of a gem of a place this is, that may be an issue. Apparently, they opened only 2 and a half weeks ago. I can tell you right now that we wish there was a location closer to us. (If you decide to open up another one, maybe Old Town Scottsdale or North Scottsdale please!) I ordered the Chopped Cheese and Brian got the Empire Steak (I may have the name wrong for his). We also got fried pickles and French fries. We didn't care for the fries... there was nothing special about them - if they would like some feedback, we would recommend a thicker cut French fry. Maybe it was our fault for ordering a plain order of fries instead of one of the crafty ones on the menu. The sandwiches were cut in half so we were able to share and try each other's. Mine was the winner! Brian and I both enjoyed it very much and would definitely get the Chopped Cheese again. He enjoyed his Empire sandwich but liked mine more. The bread that is used seems fresh and perfect. Ahhh, I'm dreaming about it already. Good bread for sandwiches is hard to come by on the West Coast. The fried pickles - get them and get a side of ranch. They are perfectly crisp and flavored. I am picky when it comes to fried pickles and only like pickle slices not wedges. Definitely would order these pickles again! Looking forward to coming here again - even if it means a 30 minute drive (without traffic). Hopefully we will see another location nearby in the future. I never write reviews If I've only ate at a establishment one time. However I've eaten here several times now and it's not impressive at all. So me and my co worker went Friday for lunch. We got pastrami fries and wings. Both were trash I mean straight garbage. For $13 they could've added more fries. The hot wings tasted like hot sauce and water. The lemon pepper wings were too salty to eat. I'm from the east coast and cooked for 10 years, line cooking,prep cook and short order I know food and this ain't it at all. I had my friend pick up some grub here... We ordered Pops Chili Cheese Dog, Cali Dog, Fried Pickles, and Onion Rings. The hotdogs were extremely salty and I would recommend them if you're looking for something to eat after a night binge drinking on Mill or have played too many games of beer pong. If you're ever in the Phoenix area, please trust me when I say you have to make an effort to visit this joint. It is in a seedy looking plaza but it is definitely worth the visit. We has the Empire Steak steak and the Shroomy Swiss sandwiches. I thought the Empire Steak was good until my som let me take a bite of the Shroomy Swiss...WOW!!! Both were out of this world. We also grabbed an order of Baja Fries and those were great as well. I thought we also the Philly Cheese fries but I guess we were talked out of them. I'm sure they would've been met the mark. My son grabbed an order of buffalo wings and they were pretty much perfect. We came down for spring training and stayed further out than I would've liked. This review makes me beyond sad to write. It's been in my "unfinished" as a 5-star review for awhile. When the restaurants shut down, we were looking for small businesses to support and fell in love with Outta Bronx. However, the last two experiences were enough to say "not good." The first was using a delivery service. We ordered two meals and got one. The veggie sandwich was delicious, but an absolute mess to eat...the bread was soaking wet in sauce. The batter on the onion rings all fell off in tiny pieces and they were overly greasy. Chalking the mistakes up to the delivery service, we did pickup on Saturday evening. It was even worse. My husband must have told the female employee "fish and chip basket" at least 4 or 5 times, "fish & chips..no, the basket..the fish & chips BASKET." It was like she didn't even know what fish & chips is. Finally, she gets it, we think. Pick up the order and what do we get? A container of french fries covered in every meat imaginable and everything was sitting in the pool of grease at the bottom. It went straight to the trash. The veggie sandwich was a mess again, but the least of my worries. I called for a refund of the fish & chips we didn't get and she wanted me to drive back over. I requested they refund by phone, because frankly, by then I wasn't confident she'd even know how to do a refund and why should I have to be inconvenienced for their mistake? So she tells me only the manager can do a phone refund and he's not there, nor has he been when I've called since. She all but refused to take a message last time I called, stating I need to call back. So...I guess they'll get to keep the $15 they stole from me, but they've lost a somewhat frequent customer. From the outside the place looked cool. Look at the menu and ordered the pastrami sandwich which cost $12 dollars for a 6inch sandwich which is pretty pricey. The portions on the meat were small. My son ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich a little more generous on the portions and had fries. No seasoning on the fries and and rated the sandwich from 1 to 10 a 6. For the cilantro haters: The cilantro lime salad was incredible and I hate cilantro!! I'm one of those weird people that think it tastes like glue, but I try to never substitute sauces because I trust the chef's creations. The lime inside the sauce definitely cut into that taste I have a hard time with and it was so enjoyable. The salad was fresh and had great toppings. Highly recommend! The Cali Chick sandwich was good but it didn't blow me away. I resorted to smothering it in that amazing cilantro lime dressing I had on the side. The Parmesan wings unfortunately didn't impress me due to being a bit dry and the ranch on the side wasn't homemade. I wish I tried the Asian sauce. Good wings, inconsistency is normal here. I order from here often and I would say every few orders something is missing. They also have super inconsistent hours of delivery on Postmates. I've also has orders canceled some 20 minutes after ordering g because quote "they were too busy to make my order". I think the service and pricing are good and honestly I think you should get your own opinion of the place but it's definitely on the heavy grease and fat side, which was a little much.
