You know the food is good when you only took one photo at lunch. I have been excited to try little pickle since I read about it online. There is tons of buzz around this new eatery. We got the pastrami sandwich and the tuna salad sandwich both absolutely amazing. The pastrami was cut in small pieces which made them nice and tender. The rye bread was absolutely delicious. Each meal came with a pickle and a side of chips, which was a nice addition to the sandwich. We ended our meal with rugelach and Babka. Both absolutely amazing. We got bagels to go and are excited to try the Lox cream cheese, which has all the lox ingredients cut up into the cream cheese. It looks amazing. The restaurant, although small, was upbeat and fun. The staff were very nice and accommodating to our needs. The owner, Peter, was super friendly and showed us around his other new restaurants that are opening up soon. ********Still a rough Gem! ******** Little Pickle is a small Jewish Style Deli (at the moment possibly moving) in the Esplanade across the street from Biltmore Fashion Shops. This is a casual order at the counter type of place without wait service. Most people do take out here. I was going to drop them one star because the brisket that I just tried was still good but not phenomenal with that really incredible burnt onion taste like last time. The brisket I recently tried seemed sort of over seasoned to me and slightly too salty. I couldn't downgrade them because the pastrami even on an off day is still many times better than what you'd get from any other similar deli. On my last visit I found out that the LOX IS THE BEST that you can get anywhere in metro Phoenix. Most similar deli places just buy the lox pre-sliced. At Little Pickle they make their own and hand slice it. The LOX is a VERY BEST of Phoenix. This restaurant still has very limited hours. Little Pickle has been open for less than a month, but I've been twice already (two days in a row) and cannot wait to return... I have three words for you: "The Works Bagel." Yes, I ordered this on my first visit and again the next day because it was just so delicious! Also, Xochitl was the barista behind the corner on both of my visits and damn does she make a good almond milk latte! The first visit I did take-out with my sis-in-law and the second visit was a sit down work breakfast meeting... The wi-fi was strong and Hailey P and I found it to be a perfect place to work. I look forward to returning soon -- likely to order "the works bagel" (because how can I not), but I also cannot wait to try so many of the other menu items ie: the overnight oats, chia seed pudding, matzo ball soup, deli sandwiches, salads and more. I know this concept is just a pop-up for now, but I hope it sticks around permanently, as it's a great addition to the breakfast / lunch dining options in the area. I don't think I've ever left a bad review on anything, but I'm pretty disappointed. I work nearby and have been a customer at little pickle several times. Their bagels are really good! I noticed recently that they had matzo ball soup on the menu, which I told myself I would come back to try soon. Today I went back to try their matzo ball soup, and even though it says $10 on the menu, they charged me $15 at the register. I didn't say anything at the time because I figured maybe the price changed. I wasn't bothered... yet. I waited over 15 minutes for them to bring out my to go order (the lady at the register commented that it looked good today, implying it was already made). When I brought it back to my desk, I noticed that the serving size was only about a cup. You would think for $15 the serving size would be a meal? Like a bowl? This was no more than 6 oz of soup in an 8 oz container. Nonetheless I ate my soup, which was pretty okay except for the matzo balls. They were small, dense, grey looking and actually disgusting. They were not edible. They tasted medicinal or like chemicals... like there was cleaning product in them or something. Something was REALLY off. Popped in here for a breakfast meeting yesterday and absolutely loved my experience! I ordered a ham, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich and it was delicious. The toppings were plentiful so it was super filling. The bagel was one of the best that I've had in AZ! I may even call ahead and buy 'em by the bag full. I also sipped on a vanilla oat milk latte while working, and it gave me just the buzz that I needed to be productive! I ended up working from here until about 1pm, and they definitely got busy at lunchtime! They will also validate Esplanade parking, just present your ticket to the cashier. It's getting a very gracious 3 from me. The Good: Pastrami was fantastic and on point. Homemade rye bread, too. The Pastrami sandwich, a 9/10 for me. Bagel, lox and cream cheese (part I): Bagel was fine. Their custom cured Lox was excellent flavor and texture. Homemade cream cheese was deeelicious. Coffee for a dollar. No complaints on that and the coffee was good. The Bad: "Matzoh Ball Soup" should've been called matzoh marbles at best. Looked more like a jewish deli hate crime. Very small soup serving on top of it. Can't even comment on the soup as I was so taken aback by the rest of it. (see pic) Bagel, lox and cream cheese (part II): Compare the pictures what I was served and others (have posted they were) served. Or the open faced pictures set up for reviews. Anyone who's ever ordered a bagel/cream cheese anything combo knows that eating it as a sandwich makes a big mess because of the soft ingredients. That's why NOBODY eats it that way. I even asked if I could have mine open faced and was told no. And, as I said above, while the ingredients were all very tasty, the end result was a messy, unsatisfying mess. Location: Nearly impossible to find the first time unless you're very familiar with the area. Needs some signage from anywhere a car can go by. Easy parking (free valet even) once you know where it is. The OK: We tried a couple of the various pastries and they were nice. Would I go back? 50/50 right now. It's a bit of a drive for me and unless they improve the whole lox and bagel thing, it'd only be for the pastrami sandwich - which I'll reiterate - is fantastic and easily the best I've had in AZ since moving here over a decade ago. read more

Plenty of Russian dressing as well. The order of fries was way more than I could. Easily could have been shared with another. It is small, but most people seem to get their order to go. Tried out this neighborhood spot finally! Counter service with friendly young lady and they call your name when order is ready. Ordered the Asian Chicken Salad. It was very good. High marks for Chicken being cooked perfectly and being a decent portion. Mixed greens were fresh and two different types of Chinese crackers added the right amount of crunch: wonton and sesame sticks. Dressing could have been a little better but it sufficed. Overall would definitely order again. Other patrons nearby had ordered sandwiches and those looked delicious with a good amount of filling. They use ChinaMist for their iced teas, both green and black. They validate parking in the adjacent garage. Very disappointed in the two pastrami sandwiches we had they were very dried out. I have to say the rye bread was good though, but the pastrami was very, very, very dry. We also ordered one lox and bagels. The bagel was not fresh. The lox were very skimpy and my husband said not very good as well. Was looking for breakfast food as it was about 10 AM and all I could find was oatmeal and a bagel. The bagel was, how should we say...a Dentist dream come true, as it was hard enough to take out three or four teeth in one bite. One of the best pastrami sandwiches that I have gotten in Phoenix. Hard to find because it is located in an alley of a business plaza but well worth it. I guess if you're a local - you know about some parking tricks, but not easy for us out of towners. I also picked up a few bagels to bring home because they are bagels, of course. Read the hype and sooooo wanted to love this place. But sadly we won't be going back. We both opted for a bagel with cream cheese and lox, as there was an article stating how each ingredient (the bagels, cream cheese and the lox) are all prepared from scratch. Well we both left hungry, and scratching our heads (not from lice, but because we couldn't belive how stingy this place is). The bagel was fine. Definitely not the best ever by any stretch of the imagination. Small, too dense and no outer sheen indicsting it was boiled and baked as we hoped. The cream cheese was such a small portion and spread so thin, we literally couldn't taste it. Why make it from scratch and then barely add any to the bagel? But by far the biggest dipointment was the smokes salmon aka lox. Only a very thin layer covered ONLY ONE side of the bagel. The bagels were both served closed like a sandwich, which did seem odd since it was for dine-in.​ But as soon as we opened them to enjoy each each half on its own, we saw why it was served closed. With only 1 very layer of lox on a single side, they had to serve these meals closed like a sandwich to hide the embarrassingly minuscule amount of lox used on each meal. You may have fooled us this time, but you left no choice but to express our irritation here, and to never return. Taking advantage of people who try to support your small business isn't appreciated. read more

Little pickle moved into the Esplanade recently. I was excited because we only have 3 lunch places. I went to grab lunch at little pickle the other day. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a matzo ball soup. The pastrami sandwich was CLEARLY fresh...I mean cooked in a slow cooker, FRESH! And I think it was actually corn beef. It still has a little fat on it and it was JUICY! I NEEDED CABBAGE with it vs bread. The matzo ball soup, not good. The matzo had an unusual taste... Maybe peppery? I didn't like it as well as I think it was in beef broth. This meal cost me $27! Lunch here will be a treat. And no combos...a sandwich and that's it. The matzo ball soup was $10, the pastrami sandwich was $15. That's CRAZY for lunch! I could've had lunch at Flint, added a few more dollars for a tip. I am sure your rent is high, but let's not get crazy...matzso ball soup is not SUPER EXPENSIVE to make...$10, and it wasn't a good taste. $15 pastrami sandwich, though DELISC...That's too rich for my blood. read more
