lox and cream cheese
Laura A.

********Still a rough Gem! ******** Little Pickle is a small Jewish Style Deli (at the moment possibly moving) in the Esplanade across the street from Biltmore Fashion Shops. This is a casual order at the counter type of place without wait service. Most people do take out here. I was going to drop them one star because the brisket that I just tried was still good but not phenomenal with that really incredible burnt onion taste like last time. The brisket I recently tried seemed sort of over seasoned to me and slightly too salty. I couldn't downgrade them because the pastrami even on an off day is still many times better than what you'd get from any other similar deli. On my last visit I found out that the LOX IS THE BEST that you can get anywhere in metro Phoenix. Most similar deli places just buy the lox pre-sliced. At Little Pickle they make their own and hand slice it. The LOX is a VERY BEST of Phoenix. This restaurant still has very limited hours. It's next to impossible for some people to make it there (Monday - Friday only) You need to check for the current hours. *****The BEST Jewish Style Deli that Phoenix has to offer!******

Great food. Friendly staff. Management reached out me to resolve an issue. Thank you for that.

Little Pickle has been open for less than a month, but I've been twice already (two days in a row) and cannot wait to return... I have three words for you: "The Works Bagel." Yes, I ordered this on my first visit and again the next day because it was just so delicious! Also, Xochitl was the barista behind the corner on both of my visits and damn does she make a good almond milk latte! The first visit I did take-out with my sis-in-law and the second visit was a sit down work breakfast meeting... The wi-fi was strong and Hailey P and I found it to be a perfect place to work. I look forward to returning soon -- likely to order "the works bagel" (because how can I not), but I also cannot wait to try so many of the other menu items ie: the overnight oats, chia seed pudding, matzo ball soup, deli sandwiches, salads and more. I know this concept is just a pop-up for now, but I hope it sticks around permanently, as it's a great addition to the breakfast / lunch dining options in the area. Note: as other reviewers mentioned, you can park in the Esplanade parking structure and Little Pickle will validate... easy, peasy. Enjoy!

Happy customer @ 7 am!

Popped in at 7 am and what a great start to the day :) Never have I ever had SUCH a good bagel in Arizona, like wow. Let's be clear, this is the Jewish deli PHX has needed for years! The ambiance, decor, and vibe are all on point especially for a pop up location. Xochitl was super helpful, pleasant, & our coffees were delicious. Will be going back for sure!

Matzoh Marble Soup??? Are you kidding me with these abominations? Also, a fairly small soup serving also.

It's getting a very gracious 3 from me. The Good: Pastrami was fantastic and on point. Homemade rye bread, too. The Pastrami sandwich, a 9/10 for me. Bagel, lox and cream cheese (part I): Bagel was fine. Their custom cured Lox was excellent flavor and texture. Homemade cream cheese was deeelicious. Coffee for a dollar. No complaints on that and the coffee was good. The Bad: "Matzoh Ball Soup" should've been called matzoh marbles at best. Looked more like a jewish deli hate crime. Very small soup serving on top of it. Can't even comment on the soup as I was so taken aback by the rest of it. (see pic) Bagel, lox and cream cheese (part II): Compare the pictures what I was served and others (have posted they were) served. Or the open faced pictures set up for reviews. Anyone who's ever ordered a bagel/cream cheese anything combo knows that eating it as a sandwich makes a big mess because of the soft ingredients. That's why NOBODY eats it that way. I even asked if I could have mine open faced and was told no. And, as I said above, while the ingredients were all very tasty, the end result was a messy, unsatisfying mess. Location: Nearly impossible to find the first time unless you're very familiar with the area. Needs some signage from anywhere a car can go by. Easy parking (free valet even) once you know where it is. The OK: We tried a couple of the various pastries and they were nice. Would I go back? 50/50 right now. It's a bit of a drive for me and unless they improve the whole lox and bagel thing, it'd only be for the pastrami sandwich - which I'll reiterate - is fantastic and easily the best I've had in AZ since moving here over a decade ago.

Warm pastrami on sourdough

Warm pastrami sandwich - Better than Katz's Bagels - Better than Zabar's Service was excellent, efficient and couldn't be an easier, more satisfying bfast and lunch spot. Will be back, often.

Hot pastrami on rye with kraut, thousand island and grilled.

The hand craved pastrami sandwich should be called the fat sandwich. All fat. Disgusting.

I highly recommend trying both, especially if you've never had a Chicago beef. The juicy beef paired with giardiniera is super savory. Damn! I'm craving it again. For lunch on our second visit, we ordered the Chief Beef special and a margherita pizza. This was, by far, the BEST margherita pizza ever! I think I've said that in another review... but for reals this time! The pizza was perfectly crispy on the bottom with just the right amount of basil to top off each bite. For dinner on our third visit, we ordered the clam linguine and an Italian beef sandwich. My husband says this clam linguine was better than the other versions he's eaten at Little Italy. The Italian sandwich was good, but not as savory as the Chicago beef. Can't wait to eat here, again, the next time we visit the Padres during spring training.

The first thing that stands out is the massive, beautifully maintained outdoor seating area. It's covered, pet-friendly, and thoughtfully designed with fireplaces and privacy walls that give each table a more intimate feel. There's even an outdoor bar where you can grab a drink while you wait or just enjoy the atmosphere. Inside, the décor is incredibly creative. Butcher knives and custom cutting boards line the walls, and the open kitchen showcases hanging meats so you can see everything in action. The bakery area adds another layer of charm, with rolling pins and whisks hanging from the ceiling, it all feels intentional and immersive without being over the top. The menu is just as fun and different as the space itself. I started with the Sicilian wedge and then had to go for what they're known for, the handcrafted meatballs. You can mix and match meatballs with different pastas, but the real showstopper is the "meatball carousel." It lets you sample multiple meatballs with their recommended sauces, all presented on an elaborate Ferris wheel-style display that turns heads across the restaurant. It's a full experience, not just a meal. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. What truly made the night, though, was our server, Mia. She struck that perfect balance of fun and professional, engaging, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. She guided us through the menu, made great recommendations, and brought a level of energy that elevated the entire experience. You can tell she takes pride in what she does, and it shows. For dessert, we went with the traditional Sicilian cannoli stuffed with Nutella and a lemon tart that was so good I'd honestly consider flying back just to have it again. This place delivers on every level, atmosphere, creativity, food, and service. I'll absolutely be making this a regular stop anytime I'm in Phoenix.

We enjoyed our full experience. Easily made reservations via Open Table (a must with a two month old baby!). We ordered the meatball Ferris wheel as an appetizer. It was so unique and fun! Although the classic meatball ended up being my favorite. I got the chicken parm and it was delicious. I love their red sauce! The only thing I was bummed about is that I love their marinara so much that I wanted to get the rigatoni with marinara as my side. However, they don't allow you to sub the sauce. It came with vodka sauce and I'm not a fan of that, so I opted for the side salad. Wish they'd allow you to sub the sauce. After dinner, we went next door to the Sicilian Baker and ordered an array of treats. Their tiramisu is a must! I've had it twice now and it's some of the best tiramisu I've had (topping even slices I've had in Rome!). The girls helping us were Riley and Tatum and they were very helpful. Even gave us some free mini cannolis. Yum!
