Hey there Yelp Squad! If you're reading this and considering Outer Limits, look no further! I had the most professional, fun, and outstanding tattoo experience with Cierra at Outer Limits. I had a coverup done and something I call a "birthmark enhancement." Cierra had a better word for it, but I forgot it. I had a cookie placed over some natural birthmarks (I refuse to call them moles or freckles) and a 30-year old frog coverup. Cierra communicated with me through email prior to my appointment and knew what I had in mind for my coverup and birthmark enhancement. Her natural skill, innate talent, amazing artistry, and effervescent personality gave the whole experience a top shelf, VIP lounge access vibe (with complementary candy and snacks!). As a consummate professional who truly knows, loves, and understands every facet of her craft, Cierra was able to choose the best colors for my skin tone that made the tattoos really "pop," and each tattoo was drawn like it was going to be hanging in an art museum. I still can't believe how beautiful and realistic my tattoos look, and each one far exceeded my expectations. The staff members I interacted with were also very friendly and personable. I could feel and see the sense of community, pride, and history that all of them had as a part of the Outer Limits family. Next time (because OF COURSE I'm going back - Cierra is now one of my favorite people), I will explore more of the shop's museum. Cierra went above and beyond to make sure I was over 100% happy with her art work. She even helped me decide to let my original birthmarks shine through in my cookie instead of my original thought of covering them up! It looks so much better that way, just as she knew it would. I'm so fortunate to have found her and learned about her personal journey. I'm going back and bringing family! If I could give 10 stars I would. Outer limits has been a second home for me for +5 years now. Jhon is my guy. Him, along with all the artists and staff have treated me as their own. Countless hours of laughs, stories, great music, and of course, tattoos, as Jhon has tattooed almost my entire body, with more to come. Nothing but pure sincere joy the second I step thru the front door. Book now, walk in, or simply come check out the amazing history the shop has to offer! You won't regret it!

If you've ever thought about getting a hand poked tattoo, go see Gali. I've gotten three tattoos from her now and every single one came out amazing. She nails that traditional, old school vibe, and the fact that she works out of Outer Limits Tattoo just makes the whole experience feel even cooler and more nostalgic. Hand poked tattoos honestly hurt less than machine tattoos--yes, even on "spicy" spots like my sternum. Healing is a breeze too; way faster and easier than with machine work in my experience. And Gali's speed is wild... she's just as fast, if not faster, than most machine tattoo artists I've been to. On top of that, she's super kind and easy to work with. She's always open to collaborating on something custom so I get exactly what I'm picturing, but with her personal touch and artistic flair that makes it even better. She's truly a master of her craft and, in my opinion, one of the best hand poked tattoo artists in the world. I can't wait to get more from her.

What can I say about one of the most legendary tattoo shops of all time? I got tattooed by Kari Barba who is a true master of the craft. Followers of tattooing will know the contributions she's made to the art form for decades. I've also collected work from Nyra Cruz who is as friendly as he is talented, and the wonderful Jen Davis who is now at their Costa Mesa location. Everyone is professional, chill, and easy to work with. Standards are high and that is reflected in the quality of the tattoos. With a century of history, Outer Limits is the oldest operating tattoo shop in the USA. The whole place is set up like a museum, with mementos, original artwork, historic photography, great stories, vintage equipment, and dozens of awesome items showcasing the history of the place and the amazing and influential artists who have passed through its doors. You can visit the museum anytime during their open hours. In short, I've had several great experiences here and collected some awesome artwork. It's worth a stop in even if just to check out the free museum of tattoo history. Would recommend!

For the past six months I've been looking at tattoos. I'm way past the median age of first timers, but I wanted to experience the process. So after a lot of indecisiveness, I walked into Outer Limits. Told them I had a couple simple ideas for a first tat. Alex figured things out quickly, within thirty minutes I was being marked. Alex is fantastic. I would encourage you to give him your business and consideration.

Got a flash design from Brandon and absolutely loved it! I've been following him on instagram for a while and finally jumped the gun. Brandon was super sweet and loved the bits of conversation we had. He made me feel super comfortable throughout the entire process. The tattoo itself came out beautifully and I've already gotten lots of compliments on it. 100000000000/10 highly recommend.

Words cannot express how awesome my experience was for my tattoo, all thanks to Cierra (@C.Von.Art) !! I came to her with a vague idea and she really exceeded all expectations with it! From the idea to the stencil to the finished product. Her artistic ability is sensational. And she's very patient, creative, and SO sweet/nice. Whether it's your first tattoo or 100th, Cierra is full of ideas and creates a very welcoming/comfortable experience. I can't thank her and Outer Limits enough! I'd rate this a 10/5 if I could :)

I can't thank my artist enough! Nyra originally came from mule tattoo in Orange County, but had transferred over and started a new journey at outer limits! Couldn't be more happier for him. Anyway, since mule, we started working on this tattoo I think since 2020-- it a little over a year to complete because he gets booked quite often and to be quite honest, I had to take a few breaks from the needle ahahah. This might be a little long to read so tldr; he gave me a sick @ss coverup after many trials with other artists--AND he's SUPER FRIENDLY! Doing another piece with him! Spectacular customer service. The tattoo studio is a vibe and all staff are friendly. For those who want to read into the process: I had asked multiple artist if my lion was fixable or if they can cover it up. Most said no and suggested I remove it and then get the new cover up, but at that point I might as well get something else with the cost of my arm and legs. One artist gave me a "coverup" but ended up just darkening lines and shadowing certain areas. So at this point, I was close to giving up until I gave it another shot with Nyra at Mule. We instantly clicked and talked about all these things before the actual consultation. He was honest about his capabilities and strengths, but told me it's "a shot in the dark, but not impossible". I took a chance on nyra and I was so pleased with how he incorporated my idea/vision into the cover piece. During each session we had, he was always checking in to see how I was doing with the pain and we had wonderful conversations each time. He makes sure his guests are comfortable and doesn't push to keep working on the piece if a break is needed (by break I mean a 4 week break lmao). He also makes sure you've eaten so you're not feeling faint. All in all, I am VERY pleased with my new piece, so pleased that I am actually starting a new one with him! He literally makes magic happen with your vision, like my pieces so far has been everything I want and more. Regarding the studio itself, very clean and friendly staff. You can tell everyone cares for each other's well-being and everyone seems to have a great connection with their guests as well. It's a such a vibe. Parking is kind of tough to navigate depending on which street you come from && parking is at least $15, card only. As the first customer you can get your parking validated, not sure about any times after that. Hope this helps!

Going back in time! Walking into this tattoo shop was a unique experience; it had me thinking about all the stories and laughter this corner has seen and heard for many decades! Everyone was welcoming! Jenny was very friendly and helpful. Mickey did the tattoo and was awesome!!! She was funny and friendly and a pretty down to earth person! Great communication every step of the tattoo process. The tattoo came out exactly how we wanted it! The vibe and music were chill. We were in and out in 1 hour. If you park at the Pike parking structure, and when you check into Yelp, they will validate your parking.

I've been to Outer limits before for a consultation with Jessie and she was absolutely amazing. This time around I went back and had the privilege to meet Cierra. She took my friend and I in as walk-ins and LET ME TELL YOU WE DID NOT REGRET IT! She was so kind, sweet, and welcoming to us I literally had tattoo therapy while talking to this amazing gal! We also had time to chat with her fellow tattoo artist, Nyra and he's so awesome and cool to talk to too! I got a custom piece from Alex the other day and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! He was willing to work with me on drawing out my ideas and was flexible to make sure I was satisfied with the design. He gave me quality advice on what would be most reasonable and realistic, while putting in high quality time and effort to create and draw this design for me. He was transparent throughout the process and very efficient. The shop itself has a really cool historic unique vibe to it, and everyone working there seems to love and be passionate about what they do. I went back the next day to get my tattoo re-bandaged as mine was leaking a bit, and they were very welcoming and helpful to assist me with this - goes to show that they care about their clients beyond just the tattooing and want to assure the best customer service. I'd definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking to get some body art done, whether you need consultations or have an idea ready!

Bro, 10 stars! This shop is excellent. I've been to a lot of tattoo shops but this one is a step above. Super clean and friendly and attentive artists and assistants. Brandon did my tattoo and I am blown with his interpretation of what I wanted. I will absolutely be coming back here to get more work done from him and the check out some of the other artists work as well. Again 10/10! **I read some other reviews mentioning that they validate for parking in the structure, I believe that was only something done in the past, as they currently DO NOT validate. Just a heads up if you are unable to find un-metered parking and need to park in the structure**

I did it. I really did it. I joined the trend of scarring my body forever. But I'm really glad I did. Once I had my design in mind, I called to set up an appointment, only to learn I'd committed my first foul of the tattoo world - you've gotta make your appointment in person (at Outer Limits anyway). So I went in on a Saturday afternoon and got myself (and Mr Q) an appointment for the following day. I didn't request a specific artist, which I second-guessed myself about a thousand times before going back for my appointment, but, lucky me - it all worked out swimmingly... much to my surprise. "Much to your surprise?" Yes. Here's the thing, the tattoo artist I ended up working with... well, let's just say his english skills were sub-par. Like... really sub par. And I was super nervous and almost ready to call off the whole thing, but I looked through his book, saw that a few guys in the shop had been tattooed by him, and decided to at least see the interpretation he came up with of my design before hightailing it out of there. ...of course, him being a hot, hipstery, Brazilian dude didn't hurt - English skills or not. But we were able to communicate, through a mix of english, sign language, and a mash-up of spanish/portuguese... and it really did all work out. I think Renan (pronounced "hena" - don't ask me, I don't get Portuguese either) is only there temporarily or something, not quite sure, but I don't think I could be happier with my tattoo. An hour later, I had the most perfect addition to my skin I could imagine - a letter "Q" Scrabble tile on my forearm, with awesome shading and precise lines and all. With Renan's limited English, one of the other tattoo artists walked me through after care and even gave me a sample of some Aquaphor to get started. I cannot say enough good things about this shop, the quality of those working there, and the art I have acquired! The shop is clean, full of cool things, and the process for booking a consult and appointment was efficient and straightforward. Matt is super attentive, answers questions promptly, and is super nice! The artist I am working with, Laura Wangerin, is absolutely delightful. Not only is she incredibly skilled, but she has a way of explaining what elements of a design will/won't work in a truly collaborative process to really design something amazing. Scheduling with her is efficient, and she goes out of her way to make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Plus she is so fun and genuine to talk to- I really look forward to my sessions with her! My tattoo ended up being more challenging than I intended it to be, but Laura has been so patient with me and tackled it _like the boss she is_.The shading and depth paired with the clarity and precision of her line work is truly amazing. I am over the moon with it, and her guidance on the design has surpassed my wildest expectations. Trust your artist, people! Every artist I have met at the shop is incredibly talented, and they all have such a great dynamic, the vibe in the shop is awesome to see. Laura Bullets is the bestest best tattoo artist in the entire world, and I love her, and she is more than welcome to permanently scar my flesh with the colors of the rainbow forever and ever. Amen. No, but seriously, I called and made an appointment on Friday for the very next night, and booked with Laura. I knew I wanted her because I loved her so much from the last tattoo she did on me, her color shading is amazing and I knew by looking at her portfolio that she was definitely the one I wanted to work on my next tatt. She's also adorable and super fun and friendly to talk to, but I digress. I got the Triforce from The Legend of Zelda tattooed on my back (you know, because I'm original as fuck). She drew up the outline of exactly what I wanted, and she's very good about talking you through it to let you know what she's doing and when she'll be done with this or that ("The outline is almost done, the coloring will be a lot easier on you!" etc.). When it was over, there were tears of joy, lots of laughter, and much embracing. Okay, well, I'm exaggerating, but we hugged. And it was magical, just like Laura and her needle work. Anyway, this place is amazing and all the people who work there are super friendly and awesome to be around. A++ for cleanliness and professionalism, and the pricing is INCREDIBLY reasonable. $60 minimum, $150 per hour for most artists, I believe the owner and another person charge a bit more. Guys, do yourself a favor and come to this place for all your tattoo needs. You won't regret it. (Also, did you know that it's the OLDEST TATTOO PARLOR IN ALL OF THE UNITED STATES? True story, bro. That's pretty fucking sweet and kind of awesome to bring up into the conversation when you're showing off your new ink.) read more

Was tattooed by Jose for my very first and second tattoo ever and it was always a pleasant experience. Communication was very spot on, not to mention he cared a lot about my comfort during the hours of the tattoo(which I found is rare). Over all very friendly and sterile. The studio is extremely professionals. I plan on for him to finish my arm sleeve since his work and honest characteristics speak for itself. I've never left a review for anything so this won't be super official sounding but everything was just as amazing as you can hope for, nice people, helpful, they make you feel comfortable and see what you need and more. It was also a safe clean environment which is extra important given the time. I was listened too which is probably the most important part, what I thought and was feeling during my tattoo mattered. All I have to say is this - Don't go anywhere else for a tattoo!! If you want the best, the cleanest, the friendliest, the most creative then this is your place! I was very lucky to get Kari Barba to do my tattoo. I came in with a rough idea of what I wanted. My cousin had passed away and the 2 things he loved were fishing and playing games. So, I wanted a fish with the scales breaking away into Scrabble tiles that spelled out David. Kari nailed it! Her final drawing/sketch was a gazillion times better than what I had imagined. I get so many comments on my tattoo, and I have an awesome memorial to David. Kari is willing to work with you and your ideas. My partner got a bad ass dragon tattoo from her and again, the work is amazing. My partner collects coins, so in the dragon's claw is a Mercury Dime. Amazing work. Kari has a million awards, but she has zero attitude and seems almost embarrassed by her fame. She is a true professional and a joy to work with. The store is so clean you could eat off the floor! The bathrooms don't smell which is a big plus! LOL The store is a museum for tattooing and the city of Long Beach itself. I love to wander around and look at all the photos of the store from days gone by. You want the best? Go here. You want crap and pay less, go some where else. I love Kari and would travel 1000 miles to get her artwork on my body! Nuff said! read more

Tiffany, You are absolutely amazing. Every step of the way, you had my back. I've been known to make impulsive decisions... I'm not gonna lie because I totally would've gotten my tattoo on the spot during our consultation. Fortunately, for me, you were there. You advised me to think about what mattered most to me and wanted to help me find a tattoo that would be even MORE meaningful than I originally anticipated. I couldn't sleep for a week straight because I was scared out of my mind, but as soon as I stepped through those doors, you put me at ease. Your calming personality helped me to survive my super excited, super hyper, super out of control personality during the ink process. Came in August to get more work added to my leg. I set the appointment 2 weeks prior with Eric Branchfield, I gave him my idea and he worked something up I really liked. I walked in on Saturday, 4/21, at around 1:30. Justin was available to do some work that time. He answered all my questions, had great suggestions, and did exactly what I asked for. My tattoo isn't complicated at all but I wasn't just going to trust anyone to do it. While Justin is one of the newer artists at this shop, his personality and professionalism caused me to not have any second thoughts... He knew what he was doing and made sure I liked what he created for me. I'm an easy customer to deal with but can get pretty picky. Justin did not give me the opportunity to be picky at all because he got exactly what I wanted. I love how this place is hygienic and EVERYTHING used it BRAND NEW! It's funny how they have signs everywhere that say "Pardon our dust..." but it wasn't dusty at all. I would know. I'm highly allergic and I did not have any reaction! Of course, the restroom was something I took note of. It was clean, tidy, and neat. My overall experience was awesome and I will definitely come back for my next tattoo. And I will make an appointment this time, to make sure I get Justin to do the work! read more

EDIT: On customer service alone I would remove this review because Matt, Kari, and Yvonne have been awesome. I can't speak for the other artists work but if you do research on your artist and their style then I think you can definitely get a great tattoo here. Update 10/16: I just want to say that Matt and Kari (co-owner) were really nice and helped me address the issue. Matt reached out promptly after I posted my review to see how they could help. Based on the customer service I received from them I would say they do try their best to give everyone a tattoo their happy with. It still is a bummer the whole thing occurred but I applaud the shop for the way this was handled and would say they're not just after money. I would recommend the place as the others seem really nice and it has a great reputation. However, my review still stands on The artist JASON. So beware ------- If your going to JASON I'd recommend sticking to his niche which is just Pokémon not anime. He had longer than two weeks to come up with a design and what he presented me with wasn't even what I had described. The tattoo took a lot less time than he had estimated so I was also confused. He then promptly disappeared after doing the tattoo to their back/break room. Also, he only came back when I had to pay. After which he said $200 but the shop charges $175 or so, yeah so I don't recommend going to him at all the tattoo I got has since healed and is now being covered read more

I got my first tattoo here by Laura Wangerin & it was an amazing experience. I can whole heartedly say I made the right choice in picking this shop & this artist for my first tattoo. Initially reaching out to her via email for a consultation, she got back to me super promptly (in less than a week, they say responses can take 1 to 2 weeks). The consultation was on October 1st, and already my nerves were calmed just meeting her. She's so chill and was so easy to talk to. The rest of the staff was also really friendly and helpful! Finally the appointment was initially November 12th, but it was rescheduled just a few days later because she'd gotten sick. I didn't mind, I knew it would be worth the wait. I was totally right. The actual tattoo experience went so smoothly. It was painful of course, but it's a tattoo, I fully expected it to be. 4 hours later, I got a masterpiece on my forearm! She gave me the option to split the appointment in half and come back in 2 weeks to finish it, in case it was too overwhelming or painful, so I completely appreciated her giving me that option so I wouldn't feel pressured! But I am so so glad I stuck it through. I haven't stopped fawning over it and people have been complimenting me nonstop. When all was said and done, she took some professional photos of it and, once again, the rest of the staff was really kind and professional as I finished up payment and left. She gave me an ointment, so I didn't even have to worry about getting my own. I know a lot of people use Aquaphor, but what she gave me (purple glide) has been working so well. I had to gush about it. I'll definitely be coming back when I save up again. I highly recommend this shop and Laura Wangerin, especially if you want something floral! read more

Kari was very instrumental in getting my artwork accomplished and if you have any doubt on the service and staff at Outer Limits then I suggest you speak with Kari. She was not only responsive but always available when I requested to speak with her about assigning an artist to enhance and old tattoo. Chris was my artist and he was perfection. 6+ hours on the chair and the artwork came out beautiful. He hand sketched it on me, did the outline and added the shadowing. I found Outer Limits Tattoo with the help of yelp reviewers. After deciding on the shop I looked through on-line portfolios. I felt one of the artists at the shop would be able to implement a painting I created and a photo of a bull (for my zodiac sign) that I have always loved. Upon arrival to the shop we were greeted and shown where all artist portfolios were. The shop was not busy and after looking through portfolios for a few minutes the guy behind the counter and an artist approached me with questions about what I was looking for. I showed them my print-outs and two artists were suggested for my tattoo. After looking through the portfolios one last time, I chose Laura as my artist. When she was free we spoke and she took on the idea right away and seemed excited about developing my tattoo with me. We made an appointment and parted ways. Upon my return to the shop for my appointment Laura was finishing up my design on her light board and told me she was excited to do my tattoo because she found a better rendition of the bull photo I originally showed her. She showed me the photo and I fell in love with it. Laura was very meticulous in readying her station and that gave me all of the confidence in the world that she wasn't going to rush through my first tattoo. Once we got started she explained the process and how much it may hurt. I was excited and ready to get started. During the 3 hour process we talked and joked and she put me at ease whenever my mind starting focusing on the pain. Laura is an amazing artist and replicated my original piece of art on my arm better than I could have imagined. The bull came out much better than I thought possible too. We were both very happy with the end result. I honestly could not have imagined this complete design and did not think I would like it so much (I know everyone says that, but it's true!) I told Laura I would be back for more - my buddy even made an appointment on the spot to blend his tattoos together after sitting with Laura and I for my tattoo. I will definitely be back for more and will recommend Laura and the Outer Limits crew when I hear others talking about getting a tattoo. The place was way bigger than I expected, maybe because I'm not used to the big city. But it was very aesthetically pleasing and clean. Jessi did an incredible job on my tattoo. I sent her the idea for what I wanted and she brought it to life. Even better, she has a super light touch with the tattoo gun, and I barely felt it yet the tattoo looks amazing. I've been here twice now, once to sit with my boyfriend while he was getting tattooed, and once to get one of my own. I got my work done by Brandon, and he put in so much effort and turned an idea I had into an amazing piece that I love to death! Everyone here is so nice, the artists are AMAZING, and the place is clean as can be, without feeling sterile and cold. I love the art I received, and love my boyfriend's piece as well. Polite, helpful, clean, no looking down on my wife because it was her first tattoo and she had a lot of questions.. Chris and the other people in the shop were the best ive ever seen. Established in 1983.

Long Beach Outer Limits is the oldest shop in the country, second oldest in the world,est. in 1927. We at Outer Limits took over this studio,(formerly Bert Grimm's), in 2003. We have remodeled the shop but kept the original feel and warmth that the shop had in the days when the sailors would come into port to get worked ok. We have 10 award winning artists earning over 500 awards. The owner of the shop, Kari Barba has been awarded The lifetime achievement award and women of the year(among others). One thing I will say, the Guillermo Bert exhibit is definitely worth checking out but that's the only interesting art MOLAA has to offer right now. The people who run this museum need to get it together because the Cheech in Riverside is amazing and a true inspiration to Latin American artists everywhere. You get to go into this big cage and for $5 they give you a small cup of nectar for the birds to eat. They are all around you and you can feed them. You will find charming bridges, small waterfalls, lily pads throughout the pond, and even a little Zen garden area. Even though it is compact, the peaceful atmosphere and the well-kept grounds make it a great visit. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area and want a quiet, refreshing escape.

A historical landmark, close & free to visit…read more Originally part of the ancestral village of Povuun'nga, the traditional place of origin of the native Gabrielino-Tongva people of the Los Angeles Basin, named Rancho Los Alamitos when the land was conceded to Manuel Nieto, and finally to Fred & Florence Bixby, whose children donated the family ranch to the City of Long Beach in 1968. To enter, visitors proceed to the Bixby Hill residential security gate at the intersection of East Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue. Entrance is strictly at 1pm, as the guard will not allow entrance prior to that. Operating hours are 1pm - 5pm Wed - Sun. Initial visit, the barn area w/ the livestock was closed off due to a water main break. Tours of the Adobe Ranch is via a docent-led tour, which can be made at the Rancho Center. No photography is permitted. Tom was the docent, and he was quite knowledgeable of the history of Rancho Los Alamitos, allowing passage into each room on the first floor. Second floor was closed to visitors. My favorite room was the kitchen, as I marveled at the various appliances, such as the still operational refrigerator, with the condenser on top, instead of bottom. Also, the heavy, built to last stove, which probably served a countless number of meals for the family & staff working the ranch. There were a few objects which were available to touch, such as an early proto version of a View-Master. The cherry on top of the Adobe Ranch visit was pulling the rope attached to the dinner bell, signifying everyone to "come & get it!". The handsome, well-maintained garden landscape surrounding the property provides natural beauty & plenty of photo opportunities. Second visit was more fun, as the barn & livestock areas were open to the public, again! Preston, a magnificent Shire horse, towers over almost all visitors, and stuns with his majestic beauty. In the world record books, a Shire horse named Sampson is the largest recorded horse ever, at 7' 2.5" tall & 3,360 lbs. Not to be outdone, Fred the donkey bombastically greets people with his hee-haws. A few rescue horses, sheep & a coop full of chickens provided plenty of enjoyment. A pleasurable afternoon can be had at Rancho Los Alamitos. Visitors gaze back in time upon a working ranch, experience how things were built to stand the test of time, opposed to planned obsolescence of most machinery & appliances, today. Visiting Preston, Fred & the other animals, alone, is worth the drive. I look forward to coming back & I highly recommend giving Rancho Los Alamitos a visit.

Think glowing sunflower rooms, swirling balloon installations (like walking through a shower of balloons), lantern decorating stations, misty walkways, and tons of interactive photo ops. It gives indoor theme-park energy, so lots of walking, lots of movement, very hands-on. A few realistic notes for parents: Bring hand sanitizer. This is a highly interactive space and kids will want to touch everything. There's also mist in some areas, so if you have allergies, just be mindful. The only downsides: There was a noticeable mildew smell near the restroom area, and in one darker outdoor section I stepped into a puddle from something dripping overhead. That could've been a slipping hazard, especially for kids. I alerted staff immediately. Creativity and imagination factor? 9/10. Maintenance concerns brought it down a bit. Even with the hiccups, my kids couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It's a fun, visually stimulating experience and worth checking out at least once.

Located near the engine room on the famous RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA." The photos that have been blown up to mega sizes are a real treat. They are not grainy and there's a ton of detail to pour over while walking through the exhibit. John White and his small crew of tireless workers setup the entire display in a matter of a few weeks and their efforts show. After the exhibit, take a stroll around the Queen Mary. From the bridge to the bilge, you can spend literally all day aboard this massive ship (bigger than the Titanic even). Gift shops, restaurants and a few of bars make the tour much more enjoyable too.

I have been to many tattoo shops, but i absolutely love Outer Limits Long Beach. I had one of my tattoos done there in 2009 by Tiffany Garcia, it was a big piece so it was split up into multiple sessions, 3 in total. I had researched online for months through shops, looking at portfolios for different artists until I found the perfect artist, and eventually I found Tiffany. She has a certain style that I fell in love with; my first visit I called to make sure she was going to be there and went down and was able to look at all of the artist's portfolios, and talk to Tiffany. She was very welcoming and friendly (As were all of the other staff) and was totally into doing my piece, which I was stoked about. I left her my artwork and set my appointment. When i went back, we started my tattoo, she talked with me the whole time, answered any questions I had and we got a lot of work done the first day; I sat for 3-4 hours my first session. She was very tentative to my wants/needs regarding what I wanted done and how much pain I could take. We took breaks when I needed, and she was willing to work as long as I wanted to sit. She had no problem at all when I was ready to call it quits for the day, and we scheduled the next appointment. Same kind of experience the following sessions. I am very happy with my work, it was well worth the money, and its my favorite tattoo so far. The shop is clean, and abides by all health codes, the shop help are friendly and helpful as well as all of the artists, and they are all on the same page, so you get the same answers from everyone (which i highly value because it shows communication and professional service). Tiffany does not work there anymore, but I hear Laura is an amazing artist from out of the country, and Shay is a wonderful artist too and hes really friendly, helpful, down to earth and always makes you feel welcome. I have also been pierced by John Johnson who is the most amazing piercer/body modifications artist I have ever had the pleasure of having work done by. He is VERY professional, hes honest and straight forward, uses the newest/best tools/supplies for his work, he is APP (Association of Professional Piercers) certified and he is so sweet. I get really nervous before any procedure, and John has always been so comforting and takes the time to make sure I am 100% at ease before, during and after the procedure. He is very gentle and precise, he uses only the best jewelry and I have never had a problem with any of his work. I recommend ALL of my friends or anyone I know to him when asked where to go. I have ALWAYS heard good things said about him, everyone that I've referred to him has always come back telling me they were absolutely beyond satisfied and how he was above and beyond their expectations, I've never heard a bad thing about him from anyone. This shop is overall the best tattoo/piercing shop I have ever been to. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. They aren't super cheap, I would say average priced, but believe me, you get what you pay for when it comes to the tattoo/piercing industry and in this case, I think you get far MORE than what you expect/pay for. read more

Walked in right before closing on a Thursday night with my fiance and a few sketches of our first tattoo ideas... Right off the bat, I knew this was the place that I was supposed to get inked. The guys behind the counter, I believe it was Shay and Ryan that night, were super helpful in giving us ideas for the tattoo design, and even suggested artists that they though would be able to translate printout into permanent body deco for the both of us. We left a very reasonable deposit each and were scheduled to meet up with Laura Bullets and Billy that following Saturday. This being my first tattoo, I was absolutely freaked out. From the moment I got there, however, Laura was absolutely on the same page as I was. She made sure I was getting a beautiful piece of art (ohm symbol on my back) and took the time to fine-tune the design in relation to position on my body and size, etc. We chatted a little, but once this lady got into the groove, she was unstoppable. All together, I was under the needle for only about thirty minutes, and was left with perfection. I am so happy with my tattoo and the intricate details that Laura was able to include with such a simple design. Overall, absolutely 100% awesome experience. My fiance's experience was just as excellent. Billy was hilarious (we were all joking in the shop while getting our work done) and took the time to really sketch something beautiful for him. He took the time to think about where the tattoo was going to be placed and the natural flow the tattoo should take (this was a baroque letter "V"). Being a self-declared minimalist, Billy still added those extra little touches that definitely make my fiance's tattoo pop off his arm and look absolutely beautiful. He has received numerous compliments and every time, we show off my tattoo too and tell them to go to Outer Limits all the way. My wife & I came in so she could get the almighty Black Flag bars on her wrist. Grandmaster Shay was really friendly and focused on delivering a quality job, which he did. The bars are a simple but not easy deal, and the wrist is very exposed.. He consulted w/ us as to layout etc. and provided professional insight which was astute and appreciated. He then delivered the goods, big time. we were so pleased, I came in the next day to get my bars fixed up and he got down! Blacker than the poison in Dick Cheney's undead zombie heart! We both realize that we've found our artist and will come to Shay for all our future work. Artist & client get to know one another during the intimate process and his passion and dedication really shine, whether it's four friggin' wrecktangles or a full back piece. Guess who's gonna do my backpiece? The weight of history which suffuses the shop is ground right into one's skin as well and we are proud to join the procession of those who have bled, squirmed, grimaced & laughed on those same floor tiles for 100 years. I had three tattoos, including a large back piece, before I discovered this place. Now, a couple months later, I have FIVE. I didn't even know what getting a tattoo could be like until I went under the masterful eye and hand of Kari Barba. This woman is a genuine living MASTER of the art. It's not just the breathtaking detail or the delicate shading or the rich color, I swear it actually hurt less than other work I've had done. Kari is a hip, warm person and a true professional, as well. I'm honored to wear her work and all tat lovers owe her a debt of gratitude for saving the legacy of Bert Grimm's shop. She has a lot of talent working with her at Outer Limits, but I honestly don't want another artist to touch my skin ever again. Which is a little inconvenient, since I'm moving to Tucson, AZ, but I'll make the roadtrip - Kari would be worth traveling a THOUSAND miles for at twice the price :) read more

My experience at Outer Limits has been nothing but amazing. I get nothing but great vibes from everyone who works there and everyone seems to be very professional yet personable at the same time. The artist Nakota is a pure talent who has done many amazing tattoos for me over the years. She is very professional when working with you and also makes the time fly with great conversation. She has great ideas and input on what you want which in my experience has always made my design 100 times better, she really knows how to visualize the tattoo and how it will flow on your body. Her line work and color shading is top notch and she really seems to be ahead of the game. Overall this is a great tattoo shop and Nakota is one of the best artists around I won't go to anyone else. Went in yesterday to outer limits to get my tattoo touched up and finished by Zack Jefferies. I would say I have a lot of tattoos and Zack Jefferies has extreme talent. Is artistic background and his extreme attention to detail makes fine lines and sick detail popout of my skin. Although I only met him a couple of months ago he is one of my top favorite artists. Not only did what he do for me look absolutely insane and I get compliments every day but he will be doing a lot more work on my skin. From My experiences there, I have to say that ALL the artist there are very friendly and helpful, the place is immaculate , with historical and vintage theme. I was greeted right away, even though the place was packed. The front desk helper took the time to listen to what I wanted and had recommendations of different artists that style would reflect the type of work I wanted to get done. I was able to have two artist at the same time brain storming some great ideas for me. i loved it! I have been going to Outer Limits for about 2 years now and I was sold on this shop the first time I walked in. The employees are all great people and they make you feel right at home. Not to mention every artist is insanely talented. The establishment is squeaky clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I was so nervous about getting my first tattoo. I really hate needles and wanted to make my experience as positive as I could. Several other places made me turn and run screaming in disgust. They say rule#1 is that the customer is always right well not here this is ther world .we just live in it I wanted a tattoo of my grandma on my forearm.i was told not advisable for me to put it on my forearm he needed more canvas and I'm calling it a canvas cuz he did not tattoo me he did art. I took my daughter in for her first tattoo to outer Limits tattoo. This place is the best! My artist Billy Sarno did THE best work and made her feel comfortable. I live only a few blocks from the Anaheim location but making the trip to Long Beach is well worth the drive. Billy has done 5 pieces for me now and Im going back for another sitting in a few weeks.
