Where should I start? I'll start with my first interaction with the lady (I'm sorry I forgot the name!) but she was SO sweet on the phone and extremely accommodating. I called around to multiple shops and for whatever reason they didn't want to answer or call me back but Inky dreams tattoo answered on my first call and booked for right away. This was an extremely sentimental piece for me that I wanted done on a specific day. Although it was a very small piece (since I don't have any big pieces) she answered all my questions. I wanted handwriting in my grandmothers handwriting and Mason was the artist. When I tell you it looks like my deceased Grandmother wrote it in pen on my arm, I mean it! It was perfect! Fine and thin just the way I wanted it. I'm not a huge tattoo person so making sure it wasn't too big or thick was really important to me. The facility was very clean and Mason answered any questions. I'm so happy with how it turned out. This is a very professional and nice spot. Mason even cleaned up another tiny one I had that was separating from another artist. They also called me the next day to see how I was doing/healing which actually meant a lot. The price was also extremely reasonable. Many places unfortunately don't do small things like this anymore. KNOW HOW TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF AND SAY NO! In my 12 years of getting tattoos never had I had such a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I came to get a tattoo with Mason he made a few designs for the piece I wanted. I looked at the designs and they weren't what I was expecting so I voiced my opinion and right off the bat he became VISIBLY UPSET. I tried explaining what I wanted but he didn't seem to understand what I was envisioning for the design. So I told him what I liked and what I didn't like and he went to make changes. When he came back it was closer to what I wanted but it didn't look anything like the reference pictures I sent. I wasn't expecting it to look exactly like the reference pictures either but I expected some similarities. So when I voiced my opinion again and he began SHOUTING AT ME and BERATING ME, telling me that if I wanted specific things I should've mentioned every little detail beforehand, and that he wasn't charging me for the time he's spending on the design and that it was taking too long. Now one thing I don't mind doing is paying more, I was happy to pay more for his time because I understood that I was asking for a lot of changes. Regardless of me mentioning this, he continued being SASSY and RUDE. My past experiences have always been a collaboration where I talk to the artist about changes and it's fine because at the end of the day the design is PERMANENTLY being added to MY BODY. NEVER HAVE I BEEN SHOUTED AT BY AN ARTIST. It felt like I was being BULLIED into getting a tattoo that he just lumped together without even looking at my references. If you don't know how to advocate for yourself or say no to someone that's pushing you to get something you don't want I recommend going somewhere else. Or if you just want to be treated with respect and not get yelled at, go elsewhere. At the end, I asked how much I owed and he discounted the amount because he acknowledged that he was "irritable," claimed that he was "stressed." He gave a few excuses for his behavior but the words I never heard were "I'm sorry" or "I apologize." Being stressed is understandable but taking it out on a customer is not. read more

I made an appointment in advance to include an email with reference photos. Arrived on time and the person advised I was not on their schedule. He did come to speak to me briefly and advised that he would not be the artist for what I wanted due to coloring/shading needed. Then rather than advising who that would be or what other options could be he went back to start a tattoo. No acknowledgment of what my next steps would be or who I should speak to in the shop instead. 0/0 on customer service. I just walked out. What he advised could have been communicated via email with my inquiry and driving 30 mins for this to be the result is why I'm sharing this review. If you opt for this shop I'd advise calling vs. using a booking form in hopes of not ending up with a similar experience. read more

Not sure if this page is for Inky Dreams in Long Beach but here we are. I scheduled a consultation with Mason for a cover up tattoo where we discussed my inspo and an appointment date and I paid a deposit. When I asked about budget or how soon I would see the design he said he cannot give me a price just yet and the design would be shown the day of. Fast forward to the day of my appointment he text me an hour and 1/2 before saying he needs to reschedule. I asked can he send the design bc up until this point I was anxious but still trusted the process. After seeing the design I was unsatisfied as it lacked components we talked about in the consultation and looked thrown together. It was not cohesive or creative. Overall bc of this I did not feel he cared enough about my time or the project so I let him know I would like to cancel and if I could have my deposit returned due to the rescheduling. He then asks is this due to finding a new place or costs and says the deposit is non refundable. He says he spent three hours on my design and how my decision to cancel was unfair to HIM bc of his time. We never discussed costs so it had nothing to do with finding someone else and my consultation was at minimum a week 1/2 prior to my appointment. I planned my week around this appointment and paid a deposit, trusted the process and was left extremely dissatisfied and instead of saying here's a refund for the inconvenience or even a partial return due to the fact that He rescheduled my appointment the day of he said how it was unfair to HIM and he if I had any concerns regarding the deposit I should've said this when signing it. Have been following only dreams and Sofia for a bit on Instagram. Found her rose work absolutely gorgeous! after scheduling an appointment with her for rose and barbed wire work a few weeks from my first visit I decided to get something smaller with a friend. Found this fun mushroom and crystals flash tattoo and fell in love. My first flash and I'm so stoked about it! Tattoo received was substandard quality, the name inside the ribbon tattooed disappeared over a short period of time. It was very expensive and did not deserve a tip, which I gave. Artist also took smoke breaks, smelled like cigarettes and was heavy-handed. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

a year later and i'm finally writing my review, oops . first off mason is very kind and has gentle hands! he gave me my very first tattoo and it went extremely well and better than what i was expecting! then he fixed my vegas tattoo that i was extremely disappointed in and after mason worked his magic, i fell in love with my tattoo all over again! he truly has the hands and skill for this! and the studio is cozy (in my opinion) they're overall very welcoming and kind. will definitely return again in the future! I got my tattoo brought back to life by Sofi. The tattoo I had was faded and dark and the flowers were looking rather sad. Sofi was Very helpful from the beginning to the end. I stopped by for the first time ever in November after finding this little spot on google maps and all I can say is wow! This is an unbelievably great tattoo establishment. I am fortunate I found it! My tattoo artist was Sofia. I can't say enough good things about her. She took her time learning exactly what I wanted and made suggestions that made my tattoo even better than I expected. Inky Dreams is open, lots of natural light, clean, with beautiful art hanging on the walls, several by Sofia herself. My son and I were extremely impressed with everything. He shared that when he gets his next tattoo it will be with Sofia. Before I left they handed me an aftercare packet so that my new tattoo stays safe and beautiful. I had a simple design but Mason still took time, even having me stand up once the transfer was on my arm to check for how the tat would look from different angles. My friend and I had been wanting to get some flash tattoos together for a while now so we reached out to Inky Dreams when she was in town. We are both very happy with our choice and experience with them! It was my first tattoo, besides a stick and poke my friend did on my foot, so I was a little nervous since I did not know what to expect. Sofia was very patient with me and made me feel comfortable. We went with a little skull behind my ear and she was right about it being way less painful than what I got on my foot. I did not feel any pain at all, she has a great hand, and It is healing super well! Loved this place!! I only had an idea of what I wanted so I sent in a few pictures to see if they can create something from that. Once I got there, Sofia captured exactly what I wanted. She has a great artistic eye: The size I estimated it for was a bit small for the placement, it would've looked a bit off. So she kindly redrew it and it looked perfect afterwards. It was a bit of a long session, roughly 5 hours, and she was great! Periodically asking if I needed to take a break. The place was also very clean and hygienic, so I felt safe and comfortable.
