    Blooming onion.
    Mike J.

I have been going here for a few years for lunch with my senior parents who can be picky. We just recently went for dinner. Food was great. Price was good. It's a great place to get great comfort food. I could tell it's run well. There was a water spill on the floor. I pointed it out to the server. The manager instantly came over and got on his hands and knees to clean it. Like I said we'll run place. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. Keep up the great work it's appreciated.

I was inspired by my family, who visited an Outback earlier this week. It's too bad the weather was not so great today, but it didn't stop me from having some blooming onions. I don't remember when I last had them, perhaps 10 years ago. I wish today the blooming onions were more tender and less salty. The steak and pasta were okay. I think this will be just a once-a-while thing.

The food is always excellent, but I should say that the center cut sirloin may be reasonably priced, because of the thin line of gristle that's present in most pieces. The tenders were excellent, moist inside. Service is always exceptional. The bar makes good drinks but seems not to know how to make a simple, classic dry martini. I often receive it with brine and have even received it with vodka. FYI: A classic dry gin martini is 2 oz gin, 1 oz dry vermouth, stir with ice, strain & serve.

And, considering the quality, the value is pretty decent as well. A few recommendations. Prime rib, available only on Monday is outstanding. NY Strips and Rib Eye, are always a solid choice. The Steak Sandwich is absolutely incredible, trust me. Plus, their Pork Chop is amazing when its available. My only negative is that the dress code has become lax over time. I'm not a fancy guy. But for the first several years there was an upscale vibe and guests dressed appropriately which made the experience feel premium. Now it isn't all that uncommon to see guests wearing worn out tee shirts, sweat shirts, flip flops, cutoffs, etc. Nothing crazy, but a collard shirt and no flip flop code would be a fair. With all that said, I love this place and I think you will as well. Give it a try.

Reservations are recommended, but if you stop in, the staff truly makes an effort to accommodate you -- which is always a plus. I ordered the filet mignon burger with sliced tenderloin, caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and horseradish mayo. The photos don't do it justice. It was perfectly prepared, incredibly flavorful, and absolutely delicious -- I'm still thinking about it. Our server was fantastic: super friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. If you're looking for a great steakhouse in the area, I highly recommend Prime 94. You won't be disappointed.

I would give it 5 stars. Our waitress Swe, was delightful, kind, happy, described the dishes, gave suggestions, she is what you would expect from a waitress. Even the food runners were excellent, smiled and said hello when they approached the table. The service was definitely 5 star. The Food, presentation was excellent. The flavors, just weren't there. We started with these beautiful onion rings which were house made. Big, beautiful and fried to a crisp golden perfection, yet taste, there was none. absolutely nothing. the most boring onion ring ever. Then the wedge salad, chopped and soggy. If your going to reinvent a classic salad, it better be good. I had the seared yellow fin tuna, again what happen to the flavor. it had a carrot ginger puree, that was more for color than flavor. the best part was the arugula pickled onions and tomatoes that came on the plate. My dinner partner had 16 oz prime dry age rib eye, which he did not enjoy. I am not a meat eater but tastes it and was not impressed. this steak was so thin. they took 16oz and spread it across the entire plate, taking away the true essences of a steak. I was pretty disappointed in the food but the cocktails were very good as well as their wine-selection. I beautiful place with great staff, which i would go back maybe just for happy hour. One other disappointment is with being such an nice steakhouse and all of the staff dressed and all so professional why isn't there any type os dressed code. Why are they allowing people to dine in sweatpants and messy t shirts. They should have a requirement. most diners were dressed so nice but allowing sweat pants. my two star rating is based solely on the flavor of the food.

I had never before heard of this place (despite being the expert epicurean that I sometimes like to…read morepretend that I am) before my oldest friend's girlfriend contacted me and said they were planning a surprise birthday party for my friend. Was I in? Of course. Sear House Grill is located below my least favorite snarl of confusing, dangerous highways and traffic in NJ (namely, where Rt 80, Rt 46 and Rt 23 all interconnect and intertwine), but my drive to the restaurant was relatively easy, coming in on Rt. 46 E., past the Willowbrook Mall, and heading straight down Rt. 23 S. for about a half mile, safely bypassing, for the most part, that agita-inducing traffic. Sear House is located on the right side of the highway, just over the river and a stone's throw away from the AMC theatre in Wayne. (I'm reminded that the Meadowbrook Nightclub used to be a little further down Rt. 23 in Cedar Grove. My father had been there a few times, back in the days when they featured Billie Holiday and Anita O'Day. I remember seeing a picture of Lou Costello enjoying himself there in the company of corrupt Paterson political boss Joe Bozzo. The Meadowbrook was still open when I was a young man, but I never ventured inside, as the concerts they were featuring then usually involved "artists" like Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, and Billy Idol. Definitely not my musical "cups of tea." Anyway...) There was valet parking, which I'm not used to, and not entirely comfortable with, but what were my other options? Once inside the restaurant, I was directed to the back "wine room," where the party was to be held. Despite my lack of interior decorating skills, it was, even to this unsophisticated plebeian, a beautiful room. Spacious, with discreetly placed but illuminating lights, it's a perfect place for a surprise party, or any party. Speaking of plebeian, the prices here are definitely for the patrician class, those with much disposable income to spend. Perusing their on-line menu, I noted that onion soup is $15, iceberg wedge salad is $18, a side of hash browns cost $14 (HASH BROWNS!?! Yep..), a cheeseburger is $25, and so forth and so on. Fortunately, everything had been taken care of by those who arranged the party, and guests were able to choose from a fixed menu. After my friend had arrived, and pleasantries had been exchanged among the guests (a group made up of 99.9 % family, and me, although my friend's sister, whom I've known since her infancy, said, "Ed's family," which was nice for an insecure neurotic like me to hear, and very much appreciated), we sat down to appetizers. Shrimp in a kind of glazed sauce, meatballs, calamari, a superlative antipasto platter (I stayed away from the hot peppers and stuck to tomatoes and a thick wedge or 2 of fresh mozzarella). For the main course, or entree, we could choose between steak, chicken parmigiana, and salmon. I thought briefly about steak, but went for the chicken parmigiana instead, and I was glad I did. My plate was served with a sizeable, delicious portion of chicken parmigiana, along with a creamy risotto (I'm not the biggest fan of risotto...generally speaking, I can take it or leave it alone...but the portion I had this particular night was exceptional), and fresh vegetables. Topped off with a velvety carrot cake for dessert. Ample portions of stellar food...what more could 1 ask for? How about an open bar and complimentary "airplane" bottles of Vodka? I stayed away from the alcohol, but the servers kept me in full glasses of water and Coke. I ended with a cup of black coffee to see me through on my drive back home. No alcohol for me to worry about, but I'm not a kid, my stamina is not what it used to be, and I could feel the beginnings of a "food coma" starting to work on me. So... home to bed. Obviously, what I experienced wasn't what 1 might experience walking in off the street with a friend or significant other, but based on what I did experience, this is a 1st-rate restaurant serving delicious, expertly prepared food. Prices are hefty but then the cliche "You pay for what you get" has never been truer than it is these days, unfortunately. For the exorbitant money, you get a 1st-rate dining experience, Even the restrooms were clean, roomy, and private. I do have to note, in passing, that in talking about the whole experience with my friend later on, I mentioned that in the past the open bar would have been an irresistable temptation to the addicted wastrel that I once was. My friend said, "Well, a lot of the young people there did get f"cked up. That friendly young man you were talking to ended up in the bathroom, throwing up." "Ah, well...that's too bad. But...he's young yet." "We were there once, weren't we?" "Yes, we were." Sometimes the memories evoked when we celebrate the milestones we pass by in our often painful, occasionally joyful, journey through life can be very much bittersweet ones. Happy birthday, old friend! Sear House Grill? Highly recommended.

Decor is plenty of wood panel walls, tile, marble, like the library of an old private club. Service is typical too for a place like this. Plenty of it and well trained. I've dined at a lot of these types of steakhouses and they are all "generally" the same. Expensive slabs of meat. Everything ala carte. Great place for a drink though as the bartenders are good with great selections of spirits, wines, and beers. But all at a high end prices. Apps: --Crispy Wagyu Dumplings; served with 2 sauces: sambal & mustard Very flavorful and different. Good choice! --Colossal Lump Crab Cake with lemon & tartar sauce; I've had better, I've had worse. -- Yellowfin Tuna Tartare with crushed avocado, crispy wontons, wasabi cream, ponzu, sesame seeds; Excellent, fresh. Great ( lighter) choice if you're have going to have slabs of beef. Entrees: --The Beef Wellington ( always a limited supply) with filet mignon, mushroom, asparagus, Hollandaise sauce was very good! --a 16 oz NY Strip was a good size but a bit boring --Roots Tailors Plate: A surf & turf of petite cut filet mignon (6 oz) & two jumbo shrimp with a scampi butter sauce was good, but you'll need appts and sides if you are hungry; Looks like a kid's portion on a large dish ( see pic) Sides: -regular mac & cheese----skip it, not worth the price. -Potatoes Au Gratin was a good version; nothing spectacular. -Creamed Corn with sweet corn puree, roasted corn, pearl onions was actually very good and I highly recommend. Desserts: - the Layered Carrot Cake with sweet cream cheese frosting (and NO raisins) was very good. --there was a Special dessert of a small yellow cake topped with vanilla ice cream and blueberries with syrup ( see pic) that was excellent; All in all a great meal ( and service) but I usually pick steakhouses once or twice a year as they all share about 80% of the same menu. Personally I rather cook a great cut of beef at home. But Its a place to splurge, blow out that AMEX, special occasions, look important and sometimes you want that. This delivers.

We were there on a Friday evening to celebrate a family birthday, and the place was packed! Thankfully, beyond the bar and lounge area in the front, there were several dining areas, which had not been initially visible and could accommodate all of the hungry diners waiting for tables. We were escorted to the bustling, rustic back room and presented with menus and their signature popovers. The large, flakey pastries had been sprinkled with cheese on the top for an added zest. They were as delicious as always. I also started with a Spicy Cherry Margarita, which packed a lot of heat, but the selected fruit flavor did not really mesh well with the spicy or smokey notes the drink exhibited. It was not my favorite marg, but it was not entirely awful. We next moved on to a few starters to share. First, there was the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, which I had previously adored at the Summit location, but found very bland on that evening. The mashed avocado, crispy wontons, and sesame seeds were all there, but the wasabi cream and ponzu sauce were barely perceptible. The Kobe Sliders were served as a trio and topped with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions. The patties were generous in size for "sliders", and they were served on sweet buns. I found these enjoyable and would get them again, though they would not be a mandatory order. Lastly, there were the Maine Lobster Bites in a lemon garlic beurre blanc with gruyere and bread crumbs. It was certainly a decadent dish and reminded me of a lobster mac and cheese without the noodles. It was richer than I typically enjoy, and the shellfish was on the chewier side, so I was not a huge fan. In terms of the entrees, there was mixed feedback around the table. First there was the lobster tail that was yet again too tough to consume. The scallops received a similar review, though I tried a scoop of the accompanying mushroom risotto, which was actually delicious. Then, there were the steaks that were all incorrectly prepared. For instance, my 8-ounce Petit Filet Mignon had been requested "medium", but arrived medium-well. No one ordered anything below medium, but most of the delivered pieces of meat were served far less cooked than that. Despite my steak being overdone, it was still enjoyable and had the nice crust for which one would hope. In addition, my side of Roasted Wild Mushrooms included an aromatic blend of shiitake, oyster, and white button varieties, all tossed in a hearty herb oil. They were fantastic! In regards to the steaks, we had let the staff know that we had been disappointed, and they graciously presented a few desserts as an apology. The Flourless Chocolate Cake was rich and gooey; it was topped with a caramel sauce and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The Roots Super Sundae was a massive martini glass stuffed with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, waffle cone pieces, and fresh berries. I only tried the chocolate ice cream and found it delicious. The sundae was served with a slew of toppings like Reese's Cup pieces, M&Ms, Oreo crumbles, sprinkles, and more. It was a fun and decadent treat. However, the Roots Warm Butter Cake was the standout winner for most of us. The fluffy pound-like cake was topped with a blueberry compote, fresh whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream; it was simple, comforting, and just delightful. Overall, we appreciated the service at the Roots Ridgewood location, but found the food and overall experience disappointing, especially after we had adored their other locations.

We started with drinks, several of us ordered the caipirinhas, and they were delicious. The salad bar offered a wide variety of options, though I do wish there had been more fruit selections. Service throughout the evening was excellent. Our party went with the unlimited churrasco experience, which was fun and interactive. You are given a coaster with red and green sides to signal when you want more or when to pause. The meat selection was impressive, with a steady flow of picanha (prime sirloin), filet mignon, ribeye, garlic steak, chicken, pork, lamb chops, and sausage, all well-seasoned and flavorful. My personal favorite was the pork belly, especially with the honey drizzle, such a perfect combination. My least favorite was probably the chicken, I thought it was a little bland and needed more seasoning. I do wish shrimp had been included in the churrasco rotation, but it is available to order separately. Our main server, Mary, along with the rest of the staff, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. To end the night, we tried several desserts: key lime pie, tres leches, brulee cheesecake, and molten lava cake, every single one was a hit. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I would definitely come back again.

We requested specific pieces from Angel and other waiters, where what we requested never came. The servers bringing the meats around also stopped coming to our table despite our mark displaying "Yes, Please" for over half an hour. At the end no additional meats ever made its round to us, so we decided to leave. This was by far the worse experience we ever had at Fogo de Chao. Most other times, we would be completely satisfied where were offered more than enough, and the selections would be fresh. In the photos below, you can see how unripe the pineapple and papaya both were, with the salad dishes being displayed almost empty without being refilled. We came at 5pm on a Tuesday so they really weren't that busy, with at most 6 tables. We mentioned the issue with the overly salty cuts of meat to Angel, but ultimately nothing was done about it. Overall, this experience unfortunately tarnished the great reputation of other Fogo de Chaos, which will make us second guess next time we think about having Brazilian steakhouse. This was doubly unfortunate because the restaurant itself looked so classy, warm, and welcoming, with so much potential of providing such an elegant dining experience...which sadly wasn't the case for my family. Thus, I cannot in good conscience recommend this branch of Fogo de Chao.. Thank you for reading and best of luck!
