I came to Outback Steakhouse because my Chase Freedom Flex card offered a 10% discount. It's been a couple of years since I've dined at Outback. It was a good visit. The hostess quickly seated me to a table. The waitress did notify me that she's going to be back later as she was taking care of the other tables. I knew what I wanted and ordered the 13 oz ribeye with a baked potato and a house salad. The bread was better than what I could remember. The 13 oz ribeye was cooked perfectly, medium rare. For the price of this experience- NO thanks! We won't return! We paid 109.00 plus an additional required 18% tip!! It smells horrible when you enter. Not sure what exactly the smell is but it's very displeasing to the senses! The front door reception was nothing! very dry! My husband got steak and lobster which was over 40.00, his was 4 bites of lobster and the 4th bite was about half size! It was so over cooked as lobster is supposed to be flaky, not rubber band texture??! I don't know how they justify serving this?! Then charging that for it?? Aren't the cooks trained? At least if you are going to serve miniature potions, cook them right!! His steak was equally as small as mine. It looked so odd on this huge plate, these tiny portions. My husband said he has experienced it, it's over hyped on the commercials and the portions that they show on the advertisements are not the same as what you get for your over priced entree orders. I had a really disappointing experience at Outback Steakhouse. I ordered two burgers cooked medium, but both came out well below rare, making them essentially inedible. They were also supposed to come with a side of French fries, but neither plate had any fries at all. I also ordered the Bloomin' Onion appetizer, which is usually a highlight, but this time it was extremely soggy and not enjoyable to eat. My husband and I dined in for lunch he had all you can eat salad and soup and he rated it a nine he said it was one of the best chilies he's ever had a lot of pieces of steak very tasty and a Caesar salad all you can eat for 999. This was my second visit to this establishment. Strangely, I ended up with exactly the same server seated in the exact same booth even though my visits were separated by about six months. My server, Robert, was outstanding, again. He was attentive, quick, polite and thoughtful. I overheard a conversation from another server with the people in the booth next to me and that server was equally polite so service is definitely a positive here. I ordered a piña koala (beverage), thinking I was getting something like a piña colada and was mistaken. While the drink was fine, it wasn't a piña colada. Appetizers were fast, hot and delicious. The main entrée, however, came out with the stuffed potatoes a bit on the cold side and the strangest cut of meat I've ever seen. While the steak was delicious, it was difficult to cut and a very odd shape. Dessert was amazing. Well I'm changing this from a 3-star to a 1-star review. As you can see they asked me to send my info to their website. So I did and have heard nothing back. So now the service has dropped further than where it started. It's been a while since I've been to an Outback. We stopped in last week because it was right across from our hotel. I ordered the ribeye, medium rare with a baked potato & a side salad. We both had ordered a double Knob Creek whiskey & Coke. Mine was in a short and my wife ordered hers in a tall. Neither could be called a double in any way. The steak was a really poor excuse of a ribeye. The salad and potato were fine. Outback Steakhouse is bomb. I did curbside pickup and the food came out hot and ready on time by friendly staff. My steak was cooked as ordered and tasted great. My sides were exceptional, especially the vegetables which are sometimes poorly thrown together at other places but these are very flavorful with great texture. Outback is one of the better steaks you're going to get in the chain restaurant space at this price point. The food is always amazing when we go to the location on Yale Ave. I finally took my mother to Outback when she came to visit. It was a little salty but still good overall. The manager was amazing. She cut my mothers steak for her and our server was amazing. The atmosphere is amazing. I love the televisions they have. I'm a big sports fan so I love sitting at the bar watching the games. In my original review I mentioned the complimentary bread that I thought was maybe wheat. Well I don't know if it's changed since the last time I was here but now I'm thinking it might be rye bread... either way it's still yummy, and I'm always a fan of places giving you a little something while you read the menu and then wait for your real food to get to you. We ordered two appetizers of our own as well, because we had a gift card so we could splurge a bit. The bloom petals like I said on my previous review are a good deal and so we got them again. The only small negative is that they are pretty darn salty. I like saltiness so I thought it was good (though even I'll admit it was really salty) but I can see how others might not be a fan of that. Then we got the Aussie cheese fries which were also good but nothing spectacular by any means. I liked that they came with ranch! I was very close to ordering the alice springs chicken (which is what I got on my last visit) because I remember liking it, but then decided I should try something I haven't gotten before. That led me to the bloomin' fried chicken, which was not only new to me but a new menu item at outback too! I think it's a creative idea that I'm surprised they hadn't thought of until now... it's basically boneless (woohoo!!!) chicken fried with the same batter that they use to fry their classic bloomin onion. It's also served with the special sauce which I was happy about too. Of course, the flavors were really good. It definitely tasted similar to the bloomin onion, just with chicken. The chicken itself was also tasty, and a good texture. It wasn't extremely juicy but definitely not dry at all either. The portion size of the chicken was very large! I definitely had leftovers which is always a big plus to me!!! It came with mashed potatoes and veggies too. The veggies were alright but not my favorite. It was squash (green and yellow) and carrots. I liked the carrots the best and then the green squash. The mashed potatoes were good, but they do them a bit chunkier than I personally prefer. In my last review I also mentioned that they hold the door open for you when you come in and leave, but for some reason this didn't happen on my last visit... so I feel the need to mention that so people don't expect it to happen if they don't do that anymore. The staff in general on my recent visit honestly weren't as exceptional as I remember from past experiences at Outback, but they were still nice and professional. Solid and consistent service coupled with vast menu variety makes for a good experience almost every time I come to this Outback Steakhouse location. There is a rewards program that offers pretty good deals and there always seems to be some type of special or discount running such as sirloin and lobster tail for $15.99 or 3 course special etc. In the past this wasn't my go to spot for a steak because I didn't love the flavor of the steaks here, but lately they have been stepping their game up with the flavor. Last time I came here, I had a sirloin and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked just to the temperature I asked. The steakhouse mac and cheese is truly top notch here! I'm a sucker for a good mac and cheese. It does have a fair amount of pepper so if that's not something you like then you may not like this side dish as much as I do. Speaking of sides, there are several good side options with particular mention of multiple veggie options. A lot of places have only one choice of veggie side, but here they have several. It was the best tasting dish that we had that night. However, this appetizer dish arrived after we already received our two entrée. We also got the sirloin and shrimp and prime rib dinner. The sirloin was cooked above the temperature that we wanted, medium rare. The shrimp was not bad however. The prime rib was an absolute let down. I wanted it medium rare. The server said that they were out of medium rare and had medium rare plus which supposedly was between medium rare and medium. Nope, more like a medium to well done. Biting into it, it was so over cooked and chewy. The texture is similar to chewing over cooked pork chop. It was not good at all. The sides and appetizers were not bad at all.
