We have only ate here twice but both times were great. Matt was our server and he was extremely attentive and made sure we never ran out of refills and bread. Checked on us many times to make sure everything was great. Food was good and this visit being on moms day was perfect. The service from Matt was fantastic and made sure our moms day lunch was just right however there were many other support staff that also made the experience very worth the trip there. Ordered a 6oz steak that was supposed to medium and was well done. It was so tough the cutco knives at home we're having a hard time cutting though the steak. I thought my wife was joking about the flavor and the toughness until I grabbed a piece and tried to eat it - it was terrible. The pork chop that I ordered was so pink it looked like raw chicken. Everything was cold - we live less than 5 min away - it should have been at least warm by the time we got home. The Aussie fries were in the same condition the cheese had hardened and the fries were cold - The loaded potatoes were watery? Ate there on Friday Dec 1 2017. My wife and I both ordered steaks. They were prompt with the salads and drinks. Then we waited 30 minutes to get our steaks. Asked one of the busboys to find our waiter, where is our food? When the steaks came the were barely warm. He asked if I'd like another. I don't have that kind of time to wait again. I walked and the first thing I smelt was fresh bread and was treated by my wonderful host/waitress named Kay, she seated my family. She had was so respectful and so sweet, if you come here I highly recommend you ask for her! She will make your visit so worth it!! The downfall of a great place. The bar probably still rocks but if you sit down in the restaurant area be prepared to be disappointed. They have integrated those stupid screens where you can order and pay for your meal. We used it to order a dessert and we had to wait nearly 15 mins for them to bring a melted mess minus the correct number of spoons. The random dude that brought it out said he would have had it sooner had he been able to find a spoon. With the addition of screens comes bad service. He never did bring an additional spoon. The Carmel cookie was hard and had a light soup of vanilla ice cream on the top. I told a newbie who finally noticed and he did bring a spoon but by the time I was able to try some it was neither warm or had much if any ice cream on top. We go here often because I love steak. The steak is always good, but the service really varies. We came here for a birthday dinner and had eight guests. We were seated and one of the large, round tables which was perfect for our group. We ordered two blooming onion appetizers and really enjoyed that. But our entrees took an hour to prepare before they were brought to our table. We had a toddler with us, so that was just too much of a wait. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen. What a disappointment! We moved to the area a couple months back. We used to live in walking distance of about 12 restaurants. While we know this part of mesa is not the location for that type of lifestyle, we were glad to see a few restaurants within a mile of the house. We decided to give Outback a try and we were hoping it would be a good place to grab a bite on the weekends or a weekday happy hour. We loaded the kids in the car and headed over. It was a Wednesday night about 7:00 and the restaurant was less than half full. That was the first sign. Eventually a server came over to greet us and took down our drink orders. A martini and old fashioned for the adults and some lemonade for the kids. The martini was overshaken and was probably half water by the time it made it to the glass. The old fashioned had way too much sugar and a couple maraschino cherries that were so muddled the drink took on a bad texture. For the meal: The kids mac and cheese must have been sitting out for a while. The ends of the noodles were so dried out they were crunchy. The kids steak was good. The problem was my son ordered fries as a side and instead got vegetables. The adult ribeye was decent. A little dry but cooked to the right temperature. My filet... yikes. First of all it was less than 3/4 inches thick... for a filet! The lid on the seasoning can must have fallen off while seasoning the steak because it had a thick dry rub that was so strong the steak couldn't be eaten. The baked potato was loaded and tasted great. When the server came around he asked how the meal was. The only thing I mentioned was the amount of seasoning on the steak and how it was too strong. He offered to have another steak sent out cooked medium. The steak came back out. The manager had me cut it in half to check the temp. As I cut into it everyone in the restaurant cranked their neck as they heard the cow mooing. I asked the manager what temp it was cooked to and he said rare. I told him i had requested medium but at this point, i didn't need another steak. ( I was fine going home and making a sandwhich.) He insisted on cooking it to temp. So he came back with the same steak I had cut in half. he had me cut those in half. I asked him what temp it looked like and he said well. I told him the problem was probably that their filet was too thin. I told him i did not want another steak. In the end, we paid for the full meal (shoe leather steak that got sent back three times as well) and left. We are mostly sad that we won't have a close place to grab an evening bite... I guess the good news is there's a great neighborhood mexican food joint, Baja Joe's just across the street on the other corner. If you're craving meat, you'll have better luck at Arby's across the street. read more

I come here frequently for a healthy lunch. I order salmon and broccoli. I am part of the iDine program so after 4 visits, my meal is discounted at 50%. Outback offers coupons occasionally too which helps offset the high cost of eating out. My salmon this time was not completely cooked so they recooked it for me. The second salmon was perfect. The owner came over to talk to me and comped my entire meal without me asking. They want to provide the best customer service. My server is excellent and keeps me coming back! read more

Would've gave this place 5 stars if the prices weren't so high. The Steaks and Ribs are the better part here & they're so tasty too , melt in your mouth. We travel from Scottsdale to this particular Steakhouse because it's like visiting Tennessee or Texas once you drive up. The decor makes you feel like you're a Cowboy / Cowgirl even if you're not. Just wear your boots and Jeans and you're in Texas . The outside could use a big Statue of a Bull , Steer or at least a Horse though. Several years ago, we used to come here a few times a month. Service and atmosphere were great. Food was good and prices were decent. When they rebranded, it seemed to go downhill quickly. The last 3 orders have been incorrect in some form or fashion. I called to speak with the Manager, but the young lady I spoke to had me on hold for almost 15 minutes. My 3rd order, I ordered Aussie Fries with extra cheese and extra bacon...I received fries with NO bacon at all, and the majority of the fries were dry and cheese-less. BEST STEAK EVER!!! We arrived at 8:45 and were seated immediately. Our server was named Tony. He was so bubbly and happy to be at the job. He kept cracking jokes about salad, steak and drinks. Good lord. It's 745 on a Saturday in May. There are open tables EVERYWHERE. Either the 3 hostesses don't know how to count or clean tables, or they failed basic math classes in HS. Well we came here on a busy Veterans day with a 90 year old Veteran it is also his birthday. You get a free blooming onion and Jeff threw an overcooked one at us before he brought our beverages. The sauce is spicy and we needed something to drink. Waited finally came back with drinks. Then as our WW11 Vet was ordering he commented that "If you don't want to pay extra not to order extra! 2 of our party ordered chopped salads and only one came. Rosy brought our meals and kindly asked if we needed anything else, she was very nice. Nothing special but definitely no complaints We sat in a booth in the bar area and the only complaint I have is the bartender. We stopped in on a rainy Saturday afternoon after seeing a movie. We don't eat here often but we had a gift card and a birthday to celebrate. As someone else mentioned - We had the same wonderful & entertaining experience with the bar tenders. Coco & Kris (I think).... very good service and they were happy and attentive! Seriously, he is so funny, I told him he should be down at the Improv in Tempe instead of behind the bar. But we were glad he was there! We had a blast. We enjoyed a new local Red Ale brew from Desert Eagle brewing in Mesa. It's nice to have a local beer on tap. We enjoyed sharing one of the new steaks - a filet with shrimp and 1/2 lobster tail. It was very good. They now offer a smaller version of the chocolate thunder dessert so we were finally able to order dessert for a change! It was excellent as always. We also met and had a nice conversation with some other locals who are regulars. So we just may stop in here for a happy hour again soon. My wife and I come to Outback for special occasions. Each time we go we are never disappointed and we leave with left overs! Tonight we checked in online so we are on the wait list. We come in and walk straight to our table. Matthew our waiter was quick to greet us and set up our stay at Outback. He got our drinks quickly and helped with our menu choices. Within ten minutes maybe less we were brought our appetizer Calamari. Ohh yes the food was crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Our main dishes were brought within ten minutes or so from the appetizer. My wife went with medium rare burger and asparagus grilled with butter. I had pork porterhouse with garlic mash potatoes (which I get every time I go because they are so good) with steamed veggies. The burger was mouth watering as juices were released into our mouth with each bite. You know a burger is good if you can eat it plain and taste the grill and simple flavors of salt and pepper. My Porterhouse pork was off the hook!! It was so juicy on the inside. Easy to cut and chew with again simple grill flavors with salt and pepper. I did not dress this beautiful piece of meat with anything as it was fantastic naked!! The garlic mash potatoes were awesome as was the steamed veggies. Thank you Outback and Matthew for providing a "go to" restaurant that does not disappoint. Everything was so good for a "chain" restaurant that I can now recommend it to others, which is quite a nice change! Prices justify great food, awesome service and left overs.
