Outback Steakhouse -- Pineville, North Carolina Monday night in July Plenty of parking in the lot. Location is convenient to nearby hotels. Walked in and someone held the door open. Host greeted me and seated me. Server came by quickly, got my beverage order, then my food order. Salad and bread came out. Steak came out after that. I ordered the new Delmonico. Cooked exactly how I asked -- medium rare. I also asked for it lightly seasoned and it was, which I appreciated. Steak was thick, good marbling, just the right amount of fat, and had really good flavor. Service stood out. My server was extremely professional and very attentive. He delivered my meal and checked on me multiple times during the meal. He also had other tables and was just as attentive to them. I noticed the team worked well together. There was a small spill near my table. My server started cleaning it up and another employee walking by noticed without being asked and went to get a wet floor sign. That says a lot about communication and teamwork. I also overheard other staff interactions and they were positive and professional. Overall, this was a great Outback experience. We came to the restaurant on Mother's Day for dinner to experience what could only be adequately described as a sh*t show. The food took over an hour to get to us and some of it never made the table. The manager that night apologized for the experience and offered us a redo meal with gift cards and multiple apologies. So here we are today almost 3 weeks later giving a redo to our Mother's Day meal and tonight celebrating our 31st Wedding Anniversary. Let's start with the greeter at the front door- whom we fondly referred to as cousin iT. If you know you know. Her hair covered her face. Not a great look for a food establishment- just sayin. No smile . No welcome or glad you're here . On to the meal- We had Ahi Tuna & Coconut Shrimp appetizers. Both were delicious and came to our table with in 10 minutes. We shared a 13 oz ribeye steak with a wedge salad and sweet potato. I ordered a separate mashed potato cause why not ? The food was delicious and all of it came out on time and prepared as we expected. Greg was our waiter on both of these dinning experiences so we had fun reminiscing about it! All in all it was much better the 2nd visit. Would I recommend them? I will say this - the restaurant needs staff that Act, Dress , and actually have energy to work there . I'm giving this a four because the service was great. Our waiter was funny and engaging. Also the food was decent. We went for lunch. The steak however, was the size of a golf ball. One thing that I don't care for is that their menu has now gotten to the place where you see the price of something and then there are five other add-ons that cost anywhere from a dollar to $3.95. I'd like to just see one price for the thing you're getting. Instead of having all of these extra add-ons to add things up, it's confusing and unnecessary. read more

Usually when I come to outback I get the blooming burger. Add bacon change out the cheese for cheddar. Extremely tasty burger. We did try the new special a while back. We got there around 7 p.m., waited about 20-25 minutes to be seated -- not bad for the holiday crowd. Spirits were high, stomachs were empty, and I was ready for that classic "Bloomin'" satisfaction. Fast-forward an hour and a half later, and we're still sitting there, starring in what felt like a culinary ghost story. The only thing haunting our table? A couple of salads and some drinks. No food, no updates, just the sweet sound of sizzling steaks -- presumably for other tables. Finally, we threw in the towel and asked the waitress to just box everything up. She smiled and said, "Sure, give me five minutes." Spoiler alert: five minutes turned into ten, then fifteen, and still nothing. At that point, the only thing I had an appetite for was leaving. But being the good Samaritan I am, I stopped at the front to at least pay for the salads and beer we did get. The hostess said she'd find a manager -- which apparently required its own side quest. Another ten minutes go by before the manager finally appears. Thankfully, she was very polite, apologized, and comped what we had. Honestly, she was the highlight of the night -- which tells you everything you need to know. So, if you're planning on celebrating your service at this Outback, maybe pack a snack... or two. I recently took my friend out for lunch at Outback, and the service truly stood out. We were greeted at the door by Crystal, who went above and beyond--she helped with my friend's walker, got her seated comfortably, and did it all with a warm smile.The seating was nice and spacious with a view of the TV screens. The food was okay, though the Bloomin' Onion was a bit overcooked. Still, Crystal's kindness and attentiveness made the visit worthwhile. Placed an online order using their website. It was super easy. The trouble came when we arrived to pick up our order. We arrived well after the promised pick up time. My friend was quickly brought her order and I was told I was waiting for a dish to finish cooking. The car next to us asked when did we order for our order to come so quickly and they had been waiting for close to and hour. We continue to wait for my food to be brought out. We noticed many other customers frustration as we sat and waited. While we waited my friend inspected her order she noticed fuzz on her ice cream and she notified the take away cashiers. We continued to wait until I couldn't take it any longer (leaning on the close to an hour mark) and I went inside to see what was happening. No one was in the take away room and the phone was ringing off the hook. A cashier came in and gave me a bag containing my food. On inspection of my food everything I ordered was ice cold and the name on the bag was incorrect. I'm pretty sure that the person who asked me my name at arrival didn't connect that the name on the bag was wrong and my food sat there and got cold while they made excuses. I brought it to Jasmine's (a take away cashier) attention and she refunded my order back. Not sure what was going on or the issue that night but the take away area was a hot mess!!! The shrimp on the Barbie literally is served on half a loaf of the brown bread which came out hard as a rock. The old version was waaaayyy better and came with fresh pico to brighten the dish. It also used to come with toast points that made the dish shareable. Also the individual blooming pedals are no longer on the menu. And when I ordered them they brought me a blooming onion. The problem with the blooming onion is that u alway, always get uncooked batter at the ends of the pedals as well as grease soaked onion at the base. Terrible service from the waitress (Jacquisha). We waited for 20 minutes waiting for a waitress at the table (the restaurant was empty basically). Right from the beginning she interrupted us and rushed us through the ordering process and had a very bad attitude. After that She barely checked on us and every time we asked for something she would forget to bring it and disappear for a while. The restaurant was basically empty so it was not busy. Our food was not the best either and we had to return the food 2 times because it was raw, but that was corrected and it was okay after that. At the end, after we paid she directly asked us if we were going to tip her and I said no. She proceeded to tell us not to come back and said WE were embarrassing. Chris at the bar was stellar. He was assisting guests across the entire restaurant, making drinks, taking orders, training..he was everywhere! I was surprised he wasn't the manager! Hes been with the company for over 4 years and If I was in upper management/corporate I'd have him managing Capital Grille or Bonefish. Seriously..give this gentleman a raise or promotion!!! I live almost an hour away and would come back just to see him. I cant speak highly enough of him. Customer service not great. We waited over 45 minutes for our meals. The server never came to the table to explain why we were waiting so long. The manager came over and told us things were moving slow, they had big parties, but our food should be coming out any minute now. So we waited and fifteen minutes no food as we were about to leave, the food finally came out, we were ready to go so we asked for to go boxes. That took an additional 5 minutes to come then we asked for our check and it took another 5 minutes to come. We were so disappointed at the services at this location. Towards the end of our dinner which was about 530 people were having to wait for tables even though there weren't many people in the restaurant. Overall the food was good, service was good, but the meal took forever to come out.... almost an hour. This place was good but not great. I got the Alice's chicken plate which is newer on the menu. It was good but the chicken was dry, even though it was smothered in bacon and cheese. We also got a blooming onion and you can never go wrong with that. Today I took my mom and brother out and the food was really good and the service was amazing. The only problem that we ran into was that they cooked my mom and my brother's steak wrong. They had to switch steaks. I felt bad because it was for Mother's Day and my plate was the one that was correctly cooked. I got the steak and ribs. I have never had their ribs so I gave it a go. I didn't really like the ribs because they were dry on the inside and breaded on the outside. That may be just me preference though. The steak was amazing. The salad I got was a little rough. The caesar dressing was really strong and I just couldn't eat it. My brothers salad was the same way. They also didn't have any baked potatoes or anything baked because their machine was broken. I ordered the twin lobster tails with a sweet potato and mixed veggies. I also ordered a Black Russian and received a white Russian. The server had thoughtfully brought tall glasses of ice water. My wife ordered a 10oz sirloin steak and a loaded potato. She also had a Wallaby Darned down under. She ate about half the steak and put the rest in a box. My lobster tails were pitifully small. For $28.00 I expected something quite a bit more substantial. Once again I was disappointed. Our server was the hovering type who needed affirmation that every mouthful that we ate was delicious. I prefer to be left alone when I dine. I wondered how his world would have collapsed if I'd told him what I really thought about the meal? The drink was good as was the water.
