I'm not one for leaving reviews, I usually like to read them, but I definitely felt the need to speak up about this one. I haven't been in the city very long but we just moved into a new place and this was the first place we got to stop at. I was overwhelmed with greeting and everybody was smiling. We sat up at the bar so we got to see all the action. The food was amazing. I am very picky about my omelettes, but the pick three was great! Not sure how a place like this stays open serving the most mediocre breakfast in FM. I ordered the simple breakfast; two eggs scrambled lite, sausage patties, home fries and wheat toast. The eggs were cold, the sausage had no color or flavor and the toast was limp. So many other good breakfast spots in town to just default to this place. This is a quick drop in diner flow with a variety of breakfast and lunch options. They're open until 2pm daily. Service was a bit rushed but decent. The food was just okay. Ordered a couple of the Grand Classic breakfast which comes with bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, potatoes, and grits. Having been a former Door Dasher I used to pick up orders here all the time but this is my first time sitting and actually trying the food. I arrived on a rainy Tuesday morning so as you can imagine the place was not crowded. All part of my plan. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a shiny happy people vibe to it that makes you feel good just walking in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As it wasn't crowded I was allowed to pick my seat. There are several booths, a long cushy bench with tables and chairs, lots of regular chair seating and if you want to be close to the action, you can sit at the bar up close near the kitchen and get a good view of how hard the wait staff work![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I chose a bench seat in the corner because I hate people. ;) Just kidding. The two waitress's on duty I remember from my DoorDash days and they me. I was presented with utensils and a menu. I was asked if I wanted to start with something to drink right away but I said I'd wait. They gave me a few minutes to look it over and returned. After reviewing the menu I decided to go with an Orange Juice and the Caramel Apple Pancakes. I was asked what size drink I wanted. I went with the small because sometimes you never know about OJ. Some places it can be strong or pulpy. The small was just right and if the large had turned out to be the size of the water cup it would have been too much for me. She also offered the cup of water which I thought was nice and accepted. Ordering the Caramel Apple Pancakes I got a choice of bacon or sausage. I chose sausage. I then got a choice of links or patties. I chose the patties. I liked that I had the options. I prefer sausage to bacon and patties to links. A very short wait later my order arrived. Two plate sized pancakes with hot apples and a caramel sauce drizzled over them. I tried the pancakes as they came thinking adding syrup to them with caramel sauce on them already might be too much sweet on sweet. But the pancake ate dry. They were hot and delicious but I just can't do pancakes without syrup. There was a whole bottle already on the table for me so lets try it! I only poured it out on the side of my plate so I could dip the pancakes in them. It helped make them even better than they were. One thing about the pancakes though, when I forked my bite the bottom layer of them kept peeling off making it a little difficult to eat. My two sausage patties looked yummy. They came with a package of whipped butter. The patties had a good flavor, not thick but not thin either. But I have to say compared to my hot hotcakes, they were a bit cold. Almost like they were premade and sitting under a warming light. If they hadn't hit the griddle with the pancakes I wish they did cause that was the only thing I could find fault with this entire meal. It even left me full but not stuffed. Food is ok but it is dependent on who is preparing it, Mac & Emily do a great job others much less so. The service is spotty again depending on time of day and who is working. They recently let go one of the better early morning servers and I have seen a drop off in attention to detail. Manager doesn't seem to manage well and I suspect there is a morale issue with staff. The poached eggs were decent, maybe a little over cooked. Finally, Benny is always served on an English muffin. This was served on what seemed like the regular toast they serve with every meal. Unbelievably disappointing. This was our 2nd visit. The first time we had service issues but the food was good so thought I'd give it another try. I was excited about today's visit as I was having brunch with my new son in law. The wait staff was excellent! But the kitchen screwed up my order. I politely asked to make it right. The waitress was ordered by the cook to have me place the wrong food item (a couple pieces of sausage!) on a plate so they could take it back to the kitchen. In all my life I have never experienced this or felt so insulted. We have homes in Baxter Village, Springfield and Dell Webb. I've already broadcasted this out in our neighborhood Facebook pages. The family and I started our day by visiting the "Eggs Up Grill" before setting out to explore Charlotte. The entire experience was good from start to finish. There was a wait to sit, however it wasn't bad giving it was a Sunday morning. I had the strawberry cheesecake pancakes which were AWESOME!! They are sweet so prepare yourself!!! The rest of the family had the Red White and Blue waffles which seemed fitting for Memorial Day weekend. They seemed to love the fresh fruit and the waffles. Their "hashed benny" is a crime against irish-americans. Instead of corned beef i got what looked like an undercooked sausage patty, topped with HARD poached eggs and a soggy english muffin. When we asked to be moved to the long bench the manager said "sure if you want to be piled up like Monkeys". The pancake was absolutely dry and the bacon was a piece of cardboard. The banana was soooo good. My husband had shrimp and grit. Again the grits were soup and it was about 2 shrimp chopped up. They use Sausage and peppers has a filler. I will say, the sweet cream cold brew coffee was really good and the hostess was amazing as well as our server. The server was attentive and patient with our family size. Our table was directly next to hostess station, she was apologetic as well as friendly to our children.
