Me & the fam including 4 lil donut eaters had a great breakfast this morning. I've used the on-line order option which works great but on this morning, I decided to call in the order. They open at 7a and when I called in the order @ 730a, I spoke to a very nice & professional lady who explained the burrito options well, easy peasy order on the phone. When I arrived, they were ready to go, hot, fresh & now. I got 3 burritos with sausage, egg & cheese with gravy & salsa on the side. I've also added the bacon option which is also good. This is a popular donut shop in a shared shopping area. There is plenty of parking they have indoor and outdoor seating arrangement for you to enjoy the treats. I quite enjoyed the glaze doughnut found my cinnamon roll doughnut to taste like an apple fritter that was very unpleasant and I was not expecting that. The staff appeared friendly. I wanted to try their pumpkin donuts which were special for the month of October and finally made it this weekend. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They also do curbside pickup. I got a pumpkin filled donut and a raspberry whipped cream donut. Both donuts were good. I wasn't the biggest fan of the raspberry jam, but I loved the raspberry whipped cream. I wanted the pumpkin one to have a little more pumpkin flavor. I wouldn't say these are my favorite donuts in the Charlotte area, but I enjoyed them. read more

I was surprised when I was able to enjoy Sweet Dough. Without my knowledge, my wife snuck out of the house while I was busy working and picked up a Pumpkin Filled donut and a Raspberry Whipped Cream Donut. Both of the donuts were good but not great. I really enjoyed the raspberry whipped cream that topped the Raspberry Whipped Cream Donut. Sadly, the Pumpkin Filled donut didn't have enough pumpkin flavor in my opinion. Stopped by Sweet Dough this morning to pick up some donuts! Before going there I checked out their website and noticed they had a create your own donut, very similar to Duck Donuts (hate to compare, but I love DD). So I came into Sweet Dough to order a dozen create your own donuts. They had a case of donuts already made so you don't have to be overwhelmed with creating your own. The staff was friendly, but they seemed alarmed and excited at the same time that I wanted to create my own dozen. I got donuts from maple bacon, peanut butter and chocolate, lemon strawberry, vanilla cookies and cream, to chocolate caramel glaze. I brought them to our office and they were well liked. I have to say though, after having Duck Donuts with a similar setup, they are far inferior to Duck (a coworker agreed). I am not a fan of cake Donuts, but Duck and Sweet Dough have cake based donuts. I don't like cake because of that sticky top of the mouth after taste. Duck's does not have that after taste, Sweet Dough does. -1. With toppings, Duck has it plentiful - example, the maple bacon, bacon is covering the donut fully. Here, couple scattered about. -2. +1 for being local donut shop, +1 for all of the options, +1 for friendly fun staff. It was fun to check out, but honestly, I would rather drive out the way for Duck in Charlotte or on my side of Fort Mill, I'm close to Rise for a close donut craving. I love the Bavarian Creme Filled Donuts at Sweet Dough. I went to their Johnstone Road location from the moment they opened. They closed that location during the pandemic but I was very happy to find them in Ft Mill. You have to order early to get what you want. I always prder 3 donuts and then tip twice as much as the cost because they are great and times are a little hard. HOWEVER Be careful if you order early, pay up front, leave a good tip, but push your pickup time out 2 hours. YOUR ORDER MAY NOT BE THERE WHEN YOU GET THERE. They continue to sell every donut they have including the ones you bought and paid for. We were heading to Carowinds on mothers day and she wanted to grab some donuts, MJ donuts is amazing but out of the way, and Sweet Dough is close to our home. I was amazed to see the owner/manager/in-charge person get some eggs, beat them and cook them on a griddle. As I watched, I noticed that they make their donuts there as well! Their donuts are amazing - fluffy, thick, sweet but not krispy creme sweet, but pastry sweet. The biscuits are HUGE! They are moist, and once you add egg, cheese and sausage - it was phenomenal. I looked at my gut after I finished the meal with an apology. I knew it would be growing as I would be eating this more often! The coffee tastes like coffee - you have 2 choices - house and dark. Tasted like donut shop coffee to me. We saw a fire truck outside, and decided to get them a dozen donuts - which prompted Sweet Dough to put a discount on their donuts. Visited here shortly after moving to the area. The shop is welcoming and items available are on display. We ordered several items to go including a cinnamon roll, a glazed crossaint, and several donuts. The donuts were wonderful, light, fluffy and not overly sweet. I thought the cinnamon roll was too sweet and the glazed crossaint was a little on the sweet side. My biggest complaint was that the kid helping us, while he wore gloves to touch the food, he kept those same gloves on to touch money (which we all know is very dirty) and then kept them on when he went to the back to prepare food. Hopefully this does not happen regularly at the store. I hope to return to the store again for more donuts and hopefully the employee will follow food safety rules better! read more

The donuts are always fresh and there are many varieties to choose from but you can get creative and add your own toppings to your donuts. If you're not in the mood for donuts that's fine because Sweet Dough as serves breakfast with a nice selection to choose from. As always, my biggest issues to focus on are cleanliness, customer service and quality; Sweet Dough doesn't disappoint and their hardwork and dedication prove it. I was so excited about this place opening. I went there one of the first few days bright and early to bring donuts to work for my team. The place was nice, nothing over the top but a basic donut shop. The menu looked pretty extensive but I was only in the market for some donuts. I got a bakers dozen of assorted donuts. I had a cinnamon donut and my husband had jelly, we both felt it was a bit underwhelming. I mad at myself for saying it but it's true. There were just OK. I was looking for a mouth watering, extra soft and as large as my head donut. It just wasn't. Everyone was really nice and super friendly... after all it was opening week. Finally, Fort Mill has a donut shop!! Sweet Dough picked a great space outside of the Walmart Market in Old Town, Fort Mill. It's a new building and the Sweet Dough staff appreciates it. They maintain a higher standard of cleanliness than many other bakeries I've visited. All staff members wear gloves when handling food products and keep aprons on at all times. Being able to see the whole team working on creating the dough masterpieces, is always a great way to determine the real dedication behind the food. The donuts are a bakery quality, too. You can tell they aren't mass produced and a corporate dough was just 'baked' in house. They take their time with each cream filled donut, ensuring there is a decent space for the cream by carefully puncturing one side and not driving a stake through the whole donut. I appreciate the ability to be creative yet stocking the case with delicious classics. Sometimes, you might want a vanilla dipped, Oreo sprinkled, caramel drizzled donut and other times the glazed croissant is just crazy enough for the day. Because many of the reviews said that this location runs out of doughnuts quickly, I made sure I was there bright and early. They were fully stocked when I arrived, and the employee who helped me was very sweet. I only ordered a half dozen (in an attempt at moderation), but I could have easily ordered the dozen! Ended up coming here with my wife and daughter a few weeks ago. Everyone that worked there was super nice and it was cool to see donuts being made behind the counter. That way you know it's fresh. We ordered a few plain glazed donuts and also got one of the Apple Fritters. I know a good donut when I see one and man were they GOOD! Ended up talking to the owner afterwards and found out that I used to play basketball with him ~10yrs ago at my old gym. I then told him everything was delicious and next time would be trying the bacon topped maple donut. He then picked one out for me and gave it to me complimentary.
