This is a popular donut shop in a shared shopping area. There is plenty of parking they have indoor and outdoor seating arrangement for you to enjoy the treats. I quite enjoyed the glaze doughnut found my cinnamon roll doughnut to taste like an apple fritter that was very unpleasant and I was not expecting that. The staff appeared friendly. I wanted to try their pumpkin donuts which were special for the month of October and finally made it this weekend. Covid-19: you can order and pay online. They also do curbside pickup. I got a pumpkin filled donut and a raspberry whipped cream donut. Both donuts were good. I wasn't the biggest fan of the raspberry jam, but I loved the raspberry whipped cream. I wanted the pumpkin one to have a little more pumpkin flavor. I wouldn't say these are my favorite donuts in the Charlotte area, but I enjoyed them. read more

I was surprised when I was able to enjoy Sweet Dough. Without my knowledge, my wife snuck out of the house while I was busy working and picked up a Pumpkin Filled donut and a Raspberry Whipped Cream Donut. Both of the donuts were good but not great. I really enjoyed the raspberry whipped cream that topped the Raspberry Whipped Cream Donut. Sadly, the Pumpkin Filled donut didn't have enough pumpkin flavor in my opinion. Stopped by Sweet Dough this morning to pick up some donuts! Before going there I checked out their website and noticed they had a create your own donut, very similar to Duck Donuts (hate to compare, but I love DD). So I came into Sweet Dough to order a dozen create your own donuts. They had a case of donuts already made so you don't have to be overwhelmed with creating your own. The staff was friendly, but they seemed alarmed and excited at the same time that I wanted to create my own dozen. I got donuts from maple bacon, peanut butter and chocolate, lemon strawberry, vanilla cookies and cream, to chocolate caramel glaze. I brought them to our office and they were well liked. I have to say though, after having Duck Donuts with a similar setup, they are far inferior to Duck (a coworker agreed). I am not a fan of cake Donuts, but Duck and Sweet Dough have cake based donuts. I don't like cake because of that sticky top of the mouth after taste. Duck's does not have that after taste, Sweet Dough does. -1. With toppings, Duck has it plentiful - example, the maple bacon, bacon is covering the donut fully. Here, couple scattered about. -2. +1 for being local donut shop, +1 for all of the options, +1 for friendly fun staff. It was fun to check out, but honestly, I would rather drive out the way for Duck in Charlotte or on my side of Fort Mill, I'm close to Rise for a close donut craving. I love the Bavarian Creme Filled Donuts at Sweet Dough. I went to their Johnstone Road location from the moment they opened. They closed that location during the pandemic but I was very happy to find them in Ft Mill. You have to order early to get what you want. I always prder 3 donuts and then tip twice as much as the cost because they are great and times are a little hard. HOWEVER Be careful if you order early, pay up front, leave a good tip, but push your pickup time out 2 hours. YOUR ORDER MAY NOT BE THERE WHEN YOU GET THERE. They continue to sell every donut they have including the ones you bought and paid for. "We cut a long john in half, this is all we have." 2 hours previously when I ordered and paid for it they were in stock. "Your order just came in." "I ordered 2 hours ago." "Our machine does that." "Get a new machine." Bottom line great place if you order there or order online and pick up right away. My wife had picked up donuts before, but I had never been in there. We were heading to Carowinds on mothers day and she wanted to grab some donuts, MJ donuts is amazing but out of the way, and Sweet Dough is close to our home. As a fan of Dunkin Donuts Coffee, and I don't care for their donuts, so I walked in assuming I'd get some donuts and eat on the road. That immediately changed when I saw they had biscuit breakfast sandwiches and it was game on! We grabbed a couple donuts, a plain biscuit, and a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. I was amazed to see the owner/manager/in-charge person get some eggs, beat them and cook them on a griddle. As I watched, I noticed that they make their donuts there as well! Their donuts are amazing - fluffy, thick, sweet but not krispy creme sweet, but pastry sweet. The biscuits are HUGE! They are moist, and once you add egg, cheese and sausage - it was phenomenal. I looked at my gut after I finished the meal with an apology. I knew it would be growing as I would be eating this more often! The coffee tastes like coffee - you have 2 choices - house and dark. Tasted like donut shop coffee to me. We saw a fire truck outside, and decided to get them a dozen donuts - which prompted Sweet Dough to put a discount on their donuts. I love their donuts but the place is never open. 7-12 three days a week isn't cutting it. Update. Saturday at 10:00 am. Gave them one last try and they are completely out of donuts at 10:00am. Never coming back, never recommending any more. read more

Visited here shortly after moving to the area. The shop is welcoming and items available are on display. We ordered several items to go including a cinnamon roll, a glazed crossaint, and several donuts. The donuts were wonderful, light, fluffy and not overly sweet. I thought the cinnamon roll was too sweet and the glazed crossaint was a little on the sweet side. My biggest complaint was that the kid helping us, while he wore gloves to touch the food, he kept those same gloves on to touch money (which we all know is very dirty) and then kept them on when he went to the back to prepare food. Hopefully this does not happen regularly at the store. I hope to return to the store again for more donuts and hopefully the employee will follow food safety rules better! read more

There are a couple of places in Fort Mill to get you sweet fix on, but sometimes you get tired of cupcakes and cakes. You want something different that does great with a good cup of coffee and still rewards your sweet tooth. Not too long ago I heard of the donut shop opening in Ft. Mill and wanted to try it out so I took the family and we ventured to Sweet Dough. It's a small sized bakery with big time customer service and sweet treats. Obviously one would want to compare these donuts to bigger chain spots, but Sweet Dough has exceeded my expectations and my perception of what donuts are supposed to be. The donuts are always fresh and there are many varieties to choose from but you can get creative and add your own toppings to your donuts. If you're not in the mood for donuts that's fine because Sweet Dough as serves breakfast with a nice selection to choose from. As always, my biggest issues to focus on are cleanliness, customer service and quality; Sweet Dough doesn't disappoint and their hardwork and dedication prove it. Lastly, their hours are from 6am to 2pm everyday so keep that in mind when visiting. Definitely support this small business, they deserve your patronage! read more

I was so excited about this place opening. I went there one of the first few days bright and early to bring donuts to work for my team. The place was nice, nothing over the top but a basic donut shop. The menu looked pretty extensive but I was only in the market for some donuts. I got a bakers dozen of assorted donuts. I had a cinnamon donut and my husband had jelly, we both felt it was a bit underwhelming. I mad at myself for saying it but it's true. There were just OK. I was looking for a mouth watering, extra soft and as large as my head donut. It just wasn't. Everyone was really nice and super friendly... after all it was opening week. We will definitely try it again, sometimes it's that opening jitters. Come on, let me love you. read more

Finally, Fort Mill has a donut shop!! Sweet Dough picked a great space outside of the Walmart Market in Old Town, Fort Mill. It's a new building and the Sweet Dough staff appreciates it. They maintain a higher standard of cleanliness than many other bakeries I've visited. All staff members wear gloves when handling food products and keep aprons on at all times. Being able to see the whole team working on creating the dough masterpieces, is always a great way to determine the real dedication behind the food. The donuts are a bakery quality, too. You can tell they aren't mass produced and a corporate dough was just 'baked' in house. They take their time with each cream filled donut, ensuring there is a decent space for the cream by carefully puncturing one side and not driving a stake through the whole donut. I appreciate the ability to be creative yet stocking the case with delicious classics. Sometimes, you might want a vanilla dipped, Oreo sprinkled, caramel drizzled donut and other times the glazed croissant is just crazy enough for the day. Honestly, very glad to have Sweet Dough join the Fort Mill community. I hope they have been welcomed with open arms as well as they have opened their arms to this town. read more

I thought there was nothing worst than going to Popeye's Chicken and them not having any chicken. Well A donut shops with no donuts at 8:30am is far worst! The picture below is what was left and those of us in the line had to work together to make sure everyone got something. I came for a dozen and got 8 because I felt bad for those behind me. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the one lady the had working there all by herself was wonderful!! So...I was craving doughnuts, but didn't want any from a chain store. After a quick search on Yelp, it was obvious that Sweet Dough was where I needed to be! Because many of the reviews said that this location runs out of doughnuts quickly, I made sure I was there bright and early. They were fully stocked when I arrived, and the employee who helped me was very sweet. I only ordered a half dozen (in an attempt at moderation), but I could have easily ordered the dozen! The doughnuts were so soft and airy! They are sweet, but not sickeningly sweet. I'll definitely be back whenever I get the urge for doughnuts! UPDATE: picked up some of the strawberry cream donuts for Mother's Day and they were AMAZING!! Love this little place! Such a great find! We drive from Ballantyne because it's worth it! Tried out this cute bakery recently and everything was so good! We've already been back 3 times! The ladies are super nice! In addition to donuts and pastries they even have biscuits and gravy! Had breakfast today and was very impressed with their breakfast burrito. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. It's not fast food which we are fine with, but it didn't take long either. Their glazed donut has just the right amount of glaze. Not too much or little. Very fresh. Also tried their apple fritter which was excellent. Not heavy or too sweet. Ended up coming here with my wife and daughter a few weeks ago. Everyone that worked there was super nice and it was cool to see donuts being made behind the counter. That way you know it's fresh. We ordered a few plain glazed donuts and also got one of the Apple Fritters. I know a good donut when I see one and man were they GOOD! Ended up talking to the owner afterwards and found out that I used to play basketball with him ~10yrs ago at my old gym. I then told him everything was delicious and next time would be trying the bacon topped maple donut. He then picked one out for me and gave it to me complimentary. Kindness goes a long way and for that I hope this business does well forever. Nice job! read more

Both were excellent and very creative. Grapes on the chicken, it worked. To full for dessert but we definitely found a nice and nearby date night spot.

After placing my order I didn't get a number to take to our table like my parents. I was told it was put under my parents number. ok whatever. So there is a pretty good amount of benches and chairs in store and there is a covered outside area to sit as well. By the time we made our own drinks and took our seats it wasn't long before my parents food came out. I ordered my food after so I wasn't too worried that mine didn't come out with theirs but I was watching the kitchen door and I saw the runner with my order looking around for a number I wasn't given. As she approached I told her it was mine and she just gave it to me. Glad I'm honest or anyone probably could have gotten my breakfast. So I ordered the pancake corndog with a maple mayo sauce? I hate mayo so regular syrup would have been better for me. The sausage on a stick wrapped in pancake batter was very good, especially when dipped in regular maple syrup. I'm not sure I was getting "corn" in the pancake but maybe it was more in name only. Either way it was very tasty. My main breakfast item was the Chicken N Ditch the Waffle. So basically a nice piece of fried chicken and a biscuit but with a twist as the biscuit was "French Toasted". I felt that the biscuit was dense and even though it was "French Toasted" I wasn't getting a lot of that flavor coming thru. I think I would have preferred the waffle. Overall the food was good. It came out hot and quickly. Will I be back, probably not because for me the price was a bit high. The $10 for the pancakes and sausage wasn't bad but the $15 for what was basically a chicken biscuit? No thanks. Please check them out for yourself because they have lots of variations to try and like my mom, this might be your new favorite breakfast place!

But even the simple soda delighted me as it was brought in a cute glass shaped like a soda can with the restaurant's name on it. I'm not sure if they sell them but I would have been a buyer today. Having delivered this dish to many times to count I knew what I was getting before I entered. The chicken and waffles will always be my go to order at any place that offers it so it was a no brainer. I added a side of sausage links, I like sausage with my breakfast and I wanted something else to rate. :) As I was thirsty I sucked down that first drink very fast and was happy when a server swooped by and filled it up for me and took the paper wrapper from the straw with her to clear the table. In hardly no time at all my order was delivered to my table. I was also asked if i wanted butter for my waffle, um yes please! My dish - the waffle was quite large and thick. It had a great crust to the outside but the inside was warm and fluffy. After the butter I poured the syrup over the waffle. It held up in the little waffle cups never really absorbed by the waffle and therefore it never got soggy. I got four decent sized chicken tenders, one for each quadrant of the waffle. At least, that's how my brain sized it up. The tenders were seasoned and coated well and would be a tasty snack on their own. Cut and stacked with bits of waffle made the ultimate bite! The sausage links were just as delicious! They were hot and the outer casing had a nice snap to them when you bit into them. It was the perfect compliment to the chicken and waffles. Overall my meal was amazing. The service was exemplary. The place is very cheerful and friendly. Just typing up this review made me crave another order of chicken and waffles. Once we seated, we didn't have any one come to us, we have to ask where is our waitress? The waitress that came for our service, we realize that the waitress was someone passed by us couple of times already, she didn't greet us or anything. But once she greeted us, it was ok service. It must be someone from management didn't let her know about the table or they are under staff. Another thing I noticed is that while we are eating, the table was not reset properly, it was missing silverware and the customers have to ask for it after their food came out. As a big group that owes many restaurants, they didn't seem to care to reply any reviews on here. Also the staff at the restaurant is not bad, just seems to have issues with communication. It is sad that food was good but service brought it down.
