After having lunch, my friend and I had a taste for something sweet. Cheesecake Carousel was in walking distance. It was at the corner of N. Tryon and Trade. Great open spot with a couple of other food trucks nearby. It's a super cute little half food truck. There was no one inside when we initially walked up even though the generator was running. We looked inside and it looked very clean. We waited about 15 mins or so and someone came to take our order. I ordered the mini strawberry and plain cheesecake. The strawberry was just ok. It had a strawberry like syrup poured over the top, but no real strawberries. It was just ok. The plain cheesecake tasted like it was out of the box and not homemade. My friend ordered the key lime cheesecake, and the peach cobbler, she said they both were really good. I would go back but try different flavors. read more

I had sampled their cheesecake once previously at a Yelp event. I was looking for a snack at Charlotte Shout and found their truck. They offer cheesecake ice cream, cheesecake slices, cheesecake minis, and dessert bars. They let you sample the ice cream. We sampled the strawberry cheesecake and banana pudding cheesecake ice creams and both were good. We decided to get two minis ($5). One strawberry and one banana pudding. Both were good, but we both loved the banana pudding the most. The spices and banana were mixed into the cheesecake and it worked really well. While dining out uptown off Tryon street, we googled "best cheesecakes in Charlotte"- low and behold the Cheesecake Carousel popped up right down the street. We walked a few minutes to find the food cart with the most friendly face. His wife makes all the cheesecakes fresh and by hand! As mentioned in other reviews the banana pudding minis are definitely my favorite so far. Though I have yet to be disappointed/underwhelmed by anything from here yet. I stopped by the Cheesecake Carousel a couple weeks ago when I was in Rock Hill. Based off of other pictures, I was expecting a large display of cheesecake. It is a very tiny shop with a small display (may have moved from a previous location???). At any rate, I was immediately greeted and offered a sample, which I declined. I was a little underwhelmed at the selection and would have liked to see more, but then again, that saved me from getting more! I went with a slice of the cookies n' creme. While it was a great creamy consistency for a cheesecake, the flavor was just okay to me. I also would have preferred to have chunks of cookie to bite into, to bring out that cookie flavor. I would have also preferred more a higher cheesecake layer and less whipped cream layer on top. I honestly have just had much better cheesecake and would not come out of the way for this place again. It is not bad cheesecake by any means, just not the best. A bit of a disappointment, but I am glad that I tried. Kudos to the owners for having a local cheesecake shop, just wish I loved it. read more

I recently celebrated a birthday. As a gift, a friend gave me these little chocolate covered cheesecake balls. I joked that they were bon bons for pretty girls. That was before my first bite. I have gotten 3 whole cheesecakes since then. I have tried the turtle caramel and the original. Both have been great, traditional is my favorite. Creamy and fresh filling with perfectly flavored crust that crumbles in your mouth. Their customer service is great too! Super friendly and accommodating staff. As someone who myself cooks and bakes and have been asked to cook, bake and even was offered to open a restaurant with 3 backers, I was not wowed by them. It's a simple cheese cake that I would love to believe is homemade, but something didn't add up to me. I would love to taste a flavor in the mix not just the top. This place sucks, I live downtown Charlotte so I'm able to walk to this cart, for three days now I've tried to find this car and call this company. I looked at their hours and clearly they never follow their own hours, they are never out when they say they are. Only one time I found their cart at 4 PM before they close and I guess they had closed early multiple times. I've tried to come at 12 PM and they still were unable to be found. I've tried calling their number multiple times, no answer. If you are going to post hours on your website please go by them and stop wasting your customers time, thank you. read more

Cheesecake Carousel is a must-visit place. I drove up from Columbia (65 mi.) to try their cheesecake, and it was worth it! The owner was there and introduced the flavors that were nicely displayed. I have never visited this establishment, but I have heard good things about it. I called the store today to inquire about making a special flavor for a friend's birthday, and the employee who answered the phone informed me that he had customers and that I needed to check the website if I wanted to know about flavors. When I started to tell him that the flavor I was looking for wasn't listed on the website (which is why I was calling), he cut me off in the middle of my sentence and said he had customers and if it wasn't on the website they didn't have it - and then he hung up the phone. I think that after the customer service I received today, I will just have to buy my cheesecake elsewhere. read more

Visited this place of business on 10/15/2016 around 4:30. Was in the Rock Hill area visiting from out of town. Once in the business we were not greeted by the female working the front. Kids yelling in the back of the store. Being first time patrons I thought the clerk would provide info about the varieties of cheesecake. She was impatient, not friendly and I felt rushed. I asked her bout a particular cheesecake slice and with an attitude she states"thats all we got." I dont know if she was having a bad day or the kids had made her mad, but if this is on a regular basis then she needs a new occupation. I really hope she is not the owner. Cant even review the product properly because the service was so bad. read more
