Both of the gals behind the counter at Honeysuckle Gelato were so friendly, and they had great recommendations for our first scoop! A small cup is around $5, which is a great deal for the amount of ice cream you get. You can even mix and match flavors! I went with the key lime pie and the banana pudding, which ended up being the perfect fresh and fruity fusion. My husband got the butter pecan and the banana pudding ... and oh my word, Honeysuckle may just make the best butter pecan ice cream I've ever had. We took our gelato outside to the courtyard, and sat in the shade for a quintessential summertime afternoon! Finally got around to trying this one and it was good! Inside optimist hall, plenty of parking (free for 90min), and quick/easy all around. I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday, there was a short line of a few people waiting to get a late night sugar fix. I tried a couple flavors and went with a scoop of the salted caramel. Overall I'd say the service was great. I tried a couple of the different flavors. I can't say that any of them really jumped out at me, but since I was already there I tried the Samoa. Seemed like more of the interesting flavors were all either gluten-free or vegan options. Not sure why but I tend to associate that with ice cream or gelato that isn't going to be the real deal. I don't think I would go out of my way for this in the future, but if I was nearby I'd probably try some of the other flavors and give them a second chance. read more

This was my first time trying Honeysuckle and I'll definitely be back! I ordered the salted caramel brownie and honey lavender! Both were so so good. My boyfriend said the salted caramel brownie was too sweet for him lol, but it was perfect for me. I loved the addition of the brownie, most spots just have salted caramel. My sister and I stopped at Optimist Hall and our sweet tooth got the best of us! :) We were instantly drawn to the cute decor of Honeysuckle and wanted to try some gelato. After lunch, I came here to get some gelato. I ordered a Better Day (2 scoops) with Ube and Peach Sorbet. The combination of the two is really good. Although the ube flavor isn't very strong, you can still taste a hint of ube in the flavoring. The peach was very sweet, but when I ate it with the ube, they combined well. "Bourbon", "Captain Crunch", and "Birthday Cake" were definitely some flavors I didn't see while living in Italy but for the Queen City they're right at home and might I add, delicious. Sampled the "Strawberry Shortcake", "Salted Carmel", and "Nutella" as well - all yummy! My personal favorite was the "Lemon, Basil, Blackberry" (all one flavor): the herbs were powerful and the perfect balance between the fruits made this flavor something you COULD find in southern Italy, especially in Positano or Sicily where lemons are life. Waffle cones for those who want & cute homemade cookies too... I recommend this place inside Optimist Hall for a sweet treat. The reason I only gave 3 stars was the texture of the gelato.
