If you take the free trolly train up Elizabeth and get off right past the college, it sits to the left on the side of building the other resteraunts are on. Just google it with walking directions. A family run ice cream shop in the heart of Elizabeth, but a little off the beaten path. Definitely not a fancy experience like a 2 scoops or Jenny's, but the prices are also significantly less with the same quality of ice cream. They have a good selection of flavors and fresh made waffle cones as well. I brought my young child and she had a blast with a single scoop, and the service was so friendly, one of the owners kept bringing me napkins to help with the clean up, all with a smile. Friday after work ice cream here was a hit. It has been a long week at work and I met some friends for some catch up and ice cream. The shop owner was super nice and welcomed us. We made our flavor choices and we hung out for a bit since it was cold outside (January). It is a small space with 8-10 counter seats. The shining star here is the ice cream. This is our FAVORITE ice cream spot in all of Charlotte!!! Super cute little ice cream shop, and delicious obviously. I have yet to try a flavor I didn't love!! Service is awesome, and the people who own/ work there are so polite and friendly! It's quaint, and doesn't stand out too much in decor but still clean and well kept! :-) we always stop in after sushi. cones are crunchy, ice cream creamy and packed with flavor, I believe there were non dairy options as well but haven't tried them yet! They look great though I hope this place stays open forever!! They deserve the best customers, I mean you should always be nice to any service workers- but I mean really, they are the best here! I really enjoyed this ice cream shop on a hot and humid charlotte's summer day. The ice cream and waffle cones are homemade and the price tag is just right.. $3 for a single scoop in a cup or cone. Fresh made waffle cones are $1 extra. I appreciated the flavors here.. mint Oreo was my favorite! Some other notable ones are the cake batter (with sprinkles), Reese's, and butterfinger. The owners seem to work in the front and back of the store.. they are very committed to their product. I feel like this was Charlotte's original ice cream shop, so I had been meaning to give it a try. I'm a sucker for the unique flavors at Two Scoops and Golden Cow though so it took me a while to make it here. We had lunch in the area and decided to stop by after. It's a small shop with a bar that has a few seats. You can park on the street right outside. They have a good selection of flavors. While not quite as creative as some of the newer shops in town, they still have a good variety that you don't find at your average ice cream shop. They only let you sample three flavors which is a little annoying when there are so many to choose from. I decided to go with the cake batter and the pralines and cream. Both were very good. Everyone else I was with also enjoyed the flavors they got. I got a regular with the two scoops which were a little small. I definitely wanted more when I was done! I LOVE Elizabeth Creamery. Despite the new location, I am glad they decided to open back up. Their new space feels sterile and void of a community vibe. Their old place had news paper clippings and photos and all kinds of memorabilia that made it feel more rustic and exciting. The ice cream speaks for itself. I have NEVER been disappointed. They deliver quality ice cream time and time again. They even allow you to sample. Black cherry is my favorite. Smurf tastes like cotton candy. And, birthday cake has sprinkles inside. The space is clean, but small. Parking can be challenging. Many great restaurants on the block where you could then walk to the Elizabeth Creamery for yummy dessert. They have around 20 flavors but being the ice cream purist that I am, I opted for vanilla in a waffle cone with sprinkles. My husband got blueberry cheesecake in a waffle cone. Let me tell you - WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! The vanilla was not overly thick, just the right amount of cream and fresh. But the waffle cone was the highlight. I have NEVER tasted such a light, not overly sweet and flaky waffle cone! I am so glad I got that and not the cup. I'd go back just to get more cones! This is definitely a hidden treasure. My colleague and I were in the area eating and running errands and decided to make the quick walk over for some ice cream, given it was relatively warm outside. The first thing I asked when I walked in was if they make their own ice cream. I'm a fan of ice cream shops that actually make their own ice cream versus places that order in bulk ice cream from somewhere else. Seems like Elizabeth Creamery makes their own ice cream - you can kind of tell just by looking at their ice cream and containers. They allow you to sample up to 3 flavors. I tried the grape (which tasted exactly as I thought it would) and the cake batter... eventually went with a single scoop on a regular cone (wish they had sugar cones) of the cake batter ice cream, which was pretty much like a birthday cake ice cream without the frosting swirls, but with plenty of sprinkles! The ice cream was soft and smooth and tasted exactly like cake. It was a bit more on the soft/melty side than I'm used to, but I'm glad it wasn't icy. The cone was the basic kind of cone that had no flavor - wish I would have noticed that they also have waffle cones. The service here was okay - the guy, which could have been the owner, was more reserved and not talkative whatsoever.
