Ginger ice cream and strawberry cheesecake ice cream (single scoop)
Marissa F.

I was thrilled when I saw they had ginger ice cream! It was subtle but still so tasty! The strawberry cheesecake was really fresh, it went well with the ginger. Service was good, they only have a walk up window and no samples. They did a great job speaking on popular flavors and any questions you had!

Carolina Creamery is a staple in downtown Mint Hill. With COVID, you order your homemade ice cream from the window. The ice cream is soooo good! I really liked the Reece flavor! There are some flavors that aren't on the board, so make sure you ask if you want something like orange pineapple! Carolina Creamery has outside tables to enjoy the weather! We love this place.

Wow this is probably one of the best ice cream places in Charlotte! It's a local ice cream shop on a corner in the small town of Mint Hill. I wasn't expecting much because I looked at their menu online and thought they had generic flavors, but wow was I surprised! I got the butter pecan in a waffle cone and the texture of the ice cream was just so creamy and rich, but in the most perfect way possible. It wasn't overpoweringly sweet and I could also taste the pecans. The waffle cone was a bit disappointing because it's not thick and crunchy like the other places. My only other complaint would be that they don't have prices shown at the counter and the staff also didn't tell me the total for my order. But I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious local creamery!

We stopped by for the first time this evening and loved it! There was a line but it moved really quickly. I don't think we waited for more than 5-7 minutes - and there was a large family ahead of us. The ice cream is super tasty and service is great. We're happy to support this nice local business!

Whenever I go visit my family in Charolette we always make a stop at this ice cream shop. The good thing about our frequent visits is that my family lives five minutes away. I have never had a bad experience here. The owners and employees are always nice and the ice cream is consistent. During the summer, you can expect a line as everyone is trying to cool off with the delicious selections they offer. I do believe they close down for a few months during the winter months and open back up in February, but do follow up with someone from the area who may have more accurate information. I went to visit my sister and brother-in-law a few weeks ago and we made a stop by Carolina Creamery it was 2 pm on a Tuesday, so there were hardly any customers there, which was great for us...lol I never know what I want and the fact that I didn't rush to figure it out, was great..lol. I made a decision to get an oreo waffle bowl. It was delicious. I keep telling myself that one day I will try their milkshakes, I heard those were good as well, so next year that's what I will try. My sister and brother-in-law got ice cream as well. I forgot the flavors they chose, but you can view our waffle bowls below. I highly recommend you try this ice cream shop out. If you are tired of franchised ice cream and want something more local and homemade, this is the place you want to visit.

Sticks and Cones Ice Cream Trucks

Sticks and Cones is a pretty straightforward truck selling ice cream and other frozen treats for a few bucks per order. The ice cream-filled Krispy Kreme doughnut was $3.25 ($3.00 + $0.25 tax). The owner had a box of raspberry and lemon-filled Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a vanilla and chocolate soft serve machine in his truck. So basically, those were the flavor combinations available. I went with a raspberry doughnut filled with vanilla ice cream. The owner split open the doughnut and piled the cold vanilla soft serve high. The high calorie concoction was served in a paper sleeve. It was hard to eat with my hands, so I grabbed a spoon to eat some of the excess ice cream first. The treat tasted exactly how you'd would expect and it's nothing you can't make at home (well, I guess you do need a soft serve machine, but regular ice cream would work just fine too). It was really messy to eat and once the ice cream started melting, it seeped through the wrap, making my hands sticky. This was kind of annoying considering there weren't any restrooms available so I could wash my hands. Overall, though, I enjoyed it and the owner was a nice guy. If I came back, I'd probably order something more "standard" and easier to eat (e.g. ice cream on a stick).

There are two trucks to Sticks and Cones - the Sticks truck, full of ice cream treats on a stick, and the Cones truck, a soft serve van of sorts. For a mere $2 and change, I scored a positively delightful and generous swirl soft serve cone rolled in sprinkles from the Cones truck. It was glorious. It was fresh. It was gorgeous, actually. And, of course, it was super delicious! The Cones trucks offers a variety of specially made ice cream treats beyond simple soft serve. You'll find a variety of creative sundaes - one called burger and fries that I'll most certainly need to try one of these days. The folks who own these trucks are just as sweet as the ice cream. And they take credit cards. Yes!

After we placed and paid for our order, we were informed that they were out of the caramel flavor, which two of us had ordered. When we asked how long it would take to restock, one employee told us 30 minutes while another said it could take hours. Since we couldn't get a clear answer, we decided to change our order, which required a refund. The employee who processed the refund, whom I believe was named Ashley, was giggling throughout the interaction and seemed unsure whether the refund had actually gone through. When we asked for confirmation, she could not provide a clear answer. I eventually had to go back inside and speak with the shift lead, who was the only helpful employee we encountered. He was able to pull up our order and show us the receipt, but the totals on the receipts did not match, which only added to the confusion. We never received a clear explanation about whether the refund was completed or whether my birthday reward had been properly applied. Overall, the experience was disappointing and frustrating, especially for what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location.

The place was packed, the drive thru line was wrapped around the building and the customers were growing impatient waiting for their orders. We got in line and waited to place our order wondering if we made a mistake. It wasn't a very long wait until we were ablet to place our orders and even though Andy's was as busy as it was, the gentleman that took our order was really nice and patient. Long story but in the end that same gentleman singlehandedly finished taking orders, jumped into the back and caught all of the walk up orders up by hustling back and forth. There were three people working the drive thru and he, alone, was taking orders and filling them. I wish I had his name to give him the proper props. There was a long wait but given the hustle of this one employee I was okay with the wait. I ordered the triple chocolate concrete. They were out of cookie dough so I substituted for brownie. Overall it was a good choice for chocolate lovers. The ice cream is very smooth and their is not shortage of cookie dough or chocolate chips. Overall, a great place for a twist on ice cream. Great location and I will say this could have been a horrible experience had it not been for that one employee.
