Super friendly service. All the ice creams are house made. The exception is the Italian ice which they get shipped in from Philadelphia. I tried the butter pecan and the pralines and cream. Both are a favorite and I went with the pralines for its buttery lusciousness. I'm a little disappointed that they don't make their own waffle cones or have a nut topping. However, that is OK. Indoor seating available. Casual. Please come and create your own adventure.

I've been a fan of Two Scoops since the early days and love seeing a Charlotte-born brand expand around the city.. but the South End location feels like a spot they either gave up on or never fully invested in. For a neighborhood like South End, I expect a higher level of fit and finish. Instead, it's dark, not particularly clean, and while the staff isn't rude, it's definitely not Chick-fil-A energy either. Being directly connected to Sabor, you'd think they'd tighten up the presentation and make this store a showcase for the brand. Instead, walking in feels like a rushed high-school project that's dragged on too long. The bummer is the ice cream is still great... flavors and mix-ins are why I've supported them from the start. I just leave disappointed because the space doesn't match the product or the potential. If the team upgrades lighting, cleanliness, and basic hospitality, this could be an easy five-star stop. As it stands: love the ice cream, underwhelmed by the experience.

    Not the place for us.

Came in to enjoy a treat with my family. I bought five ice cream cones for my kids, but since it was our first time, I hesitantly asked for a sample. Carter, the manager, didn't acknowledge my wife when she spoke but handed over a sample anyway. At that moment, I noticed a clear attitude, even though we had been nothing but polite and respectful. When one of my children asked for another sample, Carter abruptly told us there would be no more samples from that point forward. I had driven 51 miles to visit, and I was genuinely hurt by the uncalled-for and unwarranted behavior. I felt completely humiliated in front of my family. Though I could have made a scene, I chose instead to stay calm and simply asked for the manager's name. It's painful to be treated this way--possibly because of the color of my skin or because of Carter's outlook toward people like me? I don't know what caused his tone, but it hurt. If it were up to me, I would have walked out and said "never mind" to the ice cream. But my kids, unaware of the situation--as children should be--just wanted to enjoy a simple treat. This establishment should be ashamed, or at the very least, someone should let Carter know that paying customers deserve the time to choose a flavor. And for the record, we didn't take long at all--we were hurrying and mindful of the customers behind us. It's a sad reflection of the world we live in. I do not recommend this place to families.

Two scoops has been my go to place for amazing ice cream. They h several locations and are continually expanding to new areas. They have a great selection of flavors and I've never had anything I didn't like. My favorite 8s their seasonal offering of not your mama's pumpkin pie. My other favorite is pistachio, but it's not always available, unfortunately. The staff is always super friendly and offers samples to help you decide what to get. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.

Krazy Kake flavour (vanilla ice cream, vanilla cake pieces, rainbow sprinkles)
    Daniel L.

I walked a few miles around Uptown and Southend in the sun to prepare myself for an ice cream experience. Having scoured the options from Fourth Ward to Atherton Mill I selected this joint ahead of time based on the online menu. The online menu said the selection in the stores may vary so I had picked out several flavours that appealed to me, just so I had some backups as needed - hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I didn't want chocolate anything so obviously that limits your options. The Jeni's was nearby but I just went to the one in South Austin since I was there for bidness right before I came to CLT, so a local chain was far preferable to a national chain. When I walked in there was nobody in the ice cream portion of the store besides the cashier. I quickly noticed the paper thin curtain covering the wall to the adjacent Tex-Mex joint, so you get the full auditory melange of clinking silverware, drunk talking from the diners that had three many margaritas, and other miscellaneous restaurant noise like breaking glass from a dropped water chalice. That is just to say, you are essentially in a loud Tex-Mex restaurant but behind the "adult video section" type curtain if you are old enough to have ever been in that section of the video store before we all started borrowing Netflix logins from the weird horse girl that didn't mind sharing the one thing all men are thinking about when they hang with her: more episodes of Fauda. They had not a single flavour on my list of acceptables. D'oh! I regretted putting all of my eggs in this store's basket since I was not going to Jeni's again so soon and the gelato place back up the block towards Atherton was not open for the day yet, so I was a captive audience here if I wanted anything closely approximating ice creams. I ordered the krazy kake flavour. It was vanilla cake pieces, vanilla ice cream, and rainbow sprinkles. The consistency was anything but creamy, which was my first problem with the actual ice cream, having moved beyond the atmospheric gripes of the loud Tex-Mex through the curtain. As I spooned it out, chunks of the ice cream fell apart. Ice cream is not supposed to be chunks only lightly fused together like a mad science experiment where an ice cream arm (or perhaps a Québécois tooth of the ice cream monstrosity) falls off randomly from the cup in a solid chunk. The taste was also strikingly bland. Vanilla is exceptional when it tastes like actual vanilla, there is a reason why it was an aristocratic spice for so long in human history that only kings and those sufficiently obsequious (obviously doing an Italian hand gesture here) to them got to taste the magnificence of vanilla. Meanwhile this ice cream right here was closer in taste to sitting on someone's lap whilst they thought of Ohio store brand vanilla, and that is all the flavour you were rationed for the month. I would say no on the ambiance and a hard no on the krazy kake flavour, so my personal experience was a one star so much that I moved on to the Golden Cow rather than as originally planned, come back here a second time to try another flavour from the online menu (which they obviously did not have in the store). After abandoning it for the taste and texture issues, I threw out more than half of my ice cream while I brainstormed how many times I could use 'Ohio' to devastating effect in a yelp review. I think this one sets a new record. But, your mileage may vary with one of the chocolate based options or if you like the blandest, oddly chunkiest, not-creamy ice cream possible in the guise of that krazy kake. If this was Mean Girls, that krazy kake would have a whole chapter in the burn book about her, not just a page. Just don't assume the online menu will have most (or all) flavours actually in the store - they tell you on the webpage the selection may vary, but the selection in-store was appreciably small compared to the breadth of the online menu. Imagine going to the Sephora at Atherton and instead of everything in-stock from Glow Recipe to Summer Fridays they only had Ohio store brand soap and told you that the selection varies from store to store - it is just not going to be as divine of an experience if your options are limited to simply what's left, rather than having your own choice among what originally looked to be many fine options whilst you were still browsing mein internets for flavour rankings.

My sister and cousin came to visit, we happened to be uptown and decided to get some ice cream. The female employee was very friendly. I had the hazelnut Nutella ice cream, it was phenomenal.

Apple Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

We went at 10:30 pm on a Friday and it was packed. Carter, who served the ice cream, was working alone but he was so great and patient. We appreciate you, Carter! You can get a single scoop, but you can split it between 2 flavors! I got the Apple Pie, which is only available in July. I liked the flavor, but the graham cracker crust crumbles were a little hard. I also got Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, which came with a lot of cookie dough pieces! Everyone else enjoyed their flavors. I would definitely go back!

Overall, the experience was very mixed. We tried the OG, cheesecake, Butterfinger, bourbon praline, blackberry, blackberry peach cobbler, sweet potato and pralines, and peach cobbler flavors. The cobblers being served warm was definitely nice, and I'd say the cobblers were probably the best part of what we tried. They were decent, although they tasted more like canned fruit fillings than homemade cobbler. The banana puddings and ice cream were average at best -- not terrible, but nowhere near the best we've had. The main reason I'm writing this review is because of the bourbon praline flavor. All four people in our group had the same reaction that something tasted very off. Comments included: * "It tastes like refrigerator." * "Is there soy sauce in this?" * "Yuck, this tastes like teriyaki." * "It tastes like the nuts are rotten" It genuinely tasted spoiled or contaminated with another flavor that may have been stored next to it in the fridge. When we politely asked if we could return or exchange it because it tasted so bad, the employee working basically shrugged and told us they didn't like that flavor either. Looking back, when we first arrived and asked for recommendations, they didn't offer much guidance. Bathroom was clean - water was only served in bottles, that cost $3. The chairs outside were very uncomfortable. Overall: warm cobblers were nice, some flavors were okay, but nothing stood out as exceptional -- and the bourbon praline was honestly one of the worst dessert flavors any of us have tried, we threw it away.
