Came here to grab donuts for a friends birthday brunch get together. The spot was super cute and the staff were super friendly. They helped me decide on which donuts to choose. Searching for a random morning treat I found this gem in Matthews, NC. It's in a small shopping centre so you wouldn't think to pull in unless you're just curious like me. I'm so glad that I pulled in and stopped at this place because everything was amazing! The donuts selection wasn't massive, however what they did have was superb. I'm simple when it comes to donuts so I got the cinnamon sugar with the icing on top and I will get another one. It's like a small meal and super flavorful. They are like cake donuts to me, which are my favorite. I also ordered a pumpkin spice latte and the young lady who made it for me was so polite! She knew exactly what she was doing because my latte wasn't burnt and had the perfect amount of flavor. The latte was better than Starbucks.. for those of you who are Starbucks fans. We sat down and ate our donuts in the location because it was so clean and so quiet, and there were so many little donut novelty things on site, which made it comfortable and a bit whimsical. I have been looking for a great donut shop since I moved to the Charlotte area. I found it! Your mom's donut shop is amazing! I came late morning and they still had donuts. I've been to this location several times and my donuts are always fresh with the exception of this one off. For this visit, I thought it would be best to preorder to ensure that I get to try the new September flavors. I went the day before (Friday) around 11:30AM and the only options they had left were a modicum amount of glazed donut holes. Sigh... So I placed a preorder online for a Saturday pickup. Food: Normally great, but this occurrence, was a 3/5. I was so excited to try the new Boston Cream flavor. Please note that all donuts come glazed before they add any other icing on top. The base will always be a glazed donut unless you request a custom order of a no glazed based donut - only naked/bare. I also ordered these flavors: Boston Cream - I received one small and one that was normal sized. The dark chocolate ganache was great, very smooth, not gritty and delicious. The cream, was like curdled thick pudding. Not silky like you would expect or hope for (in comparison to other Boston Cream donuts from Sugar Donuts or other establishments). The flavor was pretty good, but again, the texture was not it. I won't be getting these again. Also, there was too much cream. Fresh glazed donut base. Lemon Honey - Always a winner, thus far. Although it didn't look appealing because the honey drizzle was lost. Nice lemon flavor with a touch of honey. Fresh glazed donut base. Dark Chocolate - Perfect ganache and pungent dark chocolate flavor; fresh glazed donut base. Not too sweet (not bitter either). Vanilla - Normally good, but not this time around. This one tasted stale and I couldn't see any vanilla bean specks. Not a fresh glazed donut base. Salted Caramel - Extra salty today, but still good and I could taste the buttery caramel flavor. Fresh glazed donut base. Apple Cheddar Crisp - The apple icing wasn't as pungent as I expected. I didn't try the cheddar crisp on top because that's not my preference. The icing was a bit too sweet. Fresh glazed donut base. Service: Friday I went online to place an order for next day pick up. I drive down to the Matthews location around 9AM. There is a diminutive line, so I wait outside for the family to leave out. I wish there was an option of just walking in to pick up without having to wait for my order. It would be great if they had another person there to handle pick ups and one person available to fill orders. While I waited, once inside, another family came in with a sick child who was coughing and sneezing. The guardian saw me back away several times and asked the child to go stand outside because they were spreading germs with the donuts being out in the open.... At this moment, I had to interject after the cashier rang the person in front of me and asked if I could just pick up the donuts I preordered and pointed to my box without waiting for people to decide what they want and confer with the cashier about what she/he recommends and what's good, lol. She asked me my name and handed me the box. My box wasn't closed all that well, so I asked her to fix it to mitigate fall out. I did notice the sick child trying to get back in, so I wanted to leave out before that happened, ;). Ambiance: Quite, intimate spacing so be prepared to wait outside if it's crowded with more than 5-6 people inside. read more

I'm so lucky that I found this place before I move to VA. Also thank goodness I'm moving to VA otherwise I'd eat entirely too many of these. The donuts are bakery quality. Huge, pillowy donuts with quality fillings and toppings. Their regular flavors are all exceptional - and when they say ganache, they mean ganache, none of the thin, sugary chocolate glaze stuff someone thinks might be ganache. Their specialty flavors, though, are absolutely to die for. I thought the London Fog (Earl Gray flavored) and Mexican Hot Chocolate would be my favorites until I met the Pimento Cheese. They are not kidding with that one. The donut is packed with fresh pimento cheese and glazed with pepper jelly. After trying that one I wished I hadn't gotten a mixed dozen and went for all 12 pimento cheese. They are drive up and pick up, though depending on location there might be delivery. I understand the concept of using the best ingredients and supporting local farmers but at who's expense? The customers? There's no chance that I would ever buy donuts from this place again. With options like Lavendar Earl Grey, Peach Sweet Tea and Blueberry Cheesecake you cannot expect this to be a DD or KK type experience. Yes, the prices are higher than a chain but the service, variety and quality of Your Mom's sets them apart. I came across Your Mom's Donuts from @exploreclt a few times that I ended up taking a nice solo Sunday drive to pick up a dozen. I ordered the night before online which was so easy. I ordered a dozen not realizing how ginormous the donuts were. Dine-in is not available and I did curbside pick up which was convenient. My order consisted of : Vanilla Bean Vanilla Sprinkles Chocolate Sprinkles Glazed Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Almond Mascarpone Lemon Honey Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate Ganache The Keep Pound(cake)ing These donuts were very doughy and rich; very sweetbread-like. A little too buttery tasting though for my personal taste. But, my absolute favorites were the Lemon Honey and the Keep Pound(cake)ing. The doughiness was balanced with the flavors of the toppings. And with the Keep Pound(cake)ing, I loved the cream cheese icing with blueberry, and of course the nod to the Carolina Panthers. Customer service was amazing! Well, I guess I was expecting something amazing and all I got was meh. The filled donuts were sold out. I got the horchata donut and my husband got the cinnamon roll donut. They were $3.75 each. The guy selling the donuts said the filled donuts are always the first to go. They reminded me of a square Krispy Kreme. Honestly, for the price, I'd rather have Krispy Kreme. I couldn't tell any distinctive difference other than a quality cinnamon was used. But in our opinion, it needed more cinnamon. They refused to take cash, so I was put off about that.
